Introduction: The basic method of treating food hypersensitivity is the elimination diet, which is difficult for the patient in many ways. Aim: To identify the main problems faced by patients with symptoms of food intolerance. Material and methods: The survey was conducted from February 2021 to December 2021. The survey was posted in Polish thematic groups on Facebook, dedicated to people with food intolerances. The survey contained 34 questions about food intolerances and the use of elimination diets. Questions about the cost of the diet and difficulties in applying the elimination diet were included. Results: There was no statistically significant relationship between the type of food intolerance and the body mass index of patients. It was found that people with lactose intolerance had a lower increase in food expenditure since the introduction of the diet than those without lactose intolerance. Almost half of the respondents did not find a difference in expenses. 21% of respondents noticed an increase of PLN 50-100/month, 19% - PLN 10-50/month, and only 6% above PLN 200/month. Circumstances where following an elimination diet is a particular challenge included intense private and professional lifestyle, prolonged stay away from home, and lack of time to prepare meals at home. Conclusions: The difficulties in maintaining an elimination diet are dependent on the patient's work and lifestyle. The cost of equivalents of intolerant products is also an important factor to consider when analysing the source of problems in maintaining the diet.

AIM OF THE STUDY: It is estimated that between 15% and 35% of sporadic colorectal cancers (CRC) developing from adenomas come from serrated polyps. Currently, the most effective method used to prevent CRC is the removal of adenomas, including serrated polyps, during colonoscopy. The aim of this paper is to analyze the changes characterized as serrated polyps and detected during screening colonoscopies performed as part of the Screening Program for Early Colorectal Cancer Detection (SPED). MATERIAL AND METHODS: In our center, as part of the nationwide SPED between 2000 and 2009, 1,442 screening colonoscopies were performed. RESULTS: Serrated polyps were found in 11.9% of all patients and in 45.8% of patients who had polyps removed by endoscopy. In screening colonoscopy of the large intestine, the following polyps were found most frequently: hyperplastic, < 1 cm, without a stalk, multiple, located in the distal part of the large intestine, in men and in patients with a first-degree relative with a history of abdominal cancer. Detecting and removing polyps was facilitated by the fact that the cecum was intubated and the bowel preparation had been performed either very well or well. The detection rate of serrated polyps was not influenced by patients' place of residence or their age. CONCLUSIONS: Serrated polyps constitute a frequent, and very frequent among removed polyps, abnormality detected during screening colonoscopy.

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is the 5th most common malignancy worldwide. Treatment consists of excision of the entire stomach. Malnutrition is a common problem in patients diagnosed with gastric cancer and has a negative impact on the course of treatment and the quality of life. CASE REPORT The paper presents a case report of a patient after total gastrectomy performed on 11/04/2016 due to G3 mucocellulare carcinoma. The patient had been on home parenteral nutrition for 2.5 years due to chronic malnutrition. After this period of time, an attempt was made to introduce an exclusion diet with the addition of Modulen IBD (Nestle Health Science), which is routinely used in the nutritional treatment of patients with Crohn's disease, with simultaneous discontinuation of parenteral nutrition. After 3 months, the patient was readmitted to the hospital to assess his nutritional status. He continued the diet as recommended. He maintained his body weight and reported improvement in eating habits. CONCLUSIONS In the described case, the patient presented with symptoms of impaired bowel function resulting from long-term cessation of oral nutrition. It is possible that the nutritional and immunomodulatory effect of Modulen, in combination with the anti-inflammatory elimination diet, resulted in better nutrition of intestinal epithelial cells and gradual improvement of intestinal motility and absorption, which in turn enabled the patient to completely withdraw from parenteral nutrition. We propose that this type of nutritional management could also be considered in other cases of intestinal dysfunction.
