RESUMO

Eight strains of Chlamydia psittaci were isolated in Japan from the nasal and conjunctival swabs of six household cats using the L929 cell line of mouse fibroblast origin. The isolates were identified as C. psittaci on the basis of the formation of characteristic inclusion bodies in the cell culture detected by Giemsa stain and immunofluorescence. Comparison of nucleotide sequences of the ompA gene amplified from the three isolates with the published sequence of feline FEPN strain of C. psittaci showed almost 100% homology.

RESUMO

The pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis are common diseases of GBS infection in infants. There are early-onset and late-onset types in this disease, the result of the infection is unknown. M. Sugiyama reported that M9 is a new type of GBS in Japan in 1989. Analysis of GBS typing and serum specific antibody concentrations of the type are simple with new technics. By studying the infants' contamination we discovered that GBS appeared to originate from mother-infant sources. The infants were followed for a year. 52% of the infants had GBS contamination in their throat or stool. The most common type was Ia, followed by III, JM9 and NT6. Those types without III type had been present for more than 9 months in the infant. The contamination term of Ia or III type in infants correlated with the blood specific antibody concentration of the type.

RESUMO

IgE antibodies to Ascaris antigens were detected by radioallergosorbent test (RAST) in the serum obtained from a person experimentally sensitized with Ascaris suum antigens prepared from the body fluid of worms. This serum passively sensitized human skin in vitro and histamine release from the sensitized skin was observed by challenge with antigens. The allergenicity of A. suum antigens was present over a very broad spectrum of molecular size. The present results suggest that specific IgE antibodies to Ascaris antigens might be in Ascaris-infected patients and allergic symptoms which belong to type 1 reaction might be mediated by IgE in these patients.
