RESUMO

Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), which instigate many disorders, are mostly mediated by dicarbonyl rearrangements. We studied the corresponding mechanisms of the anti-glycation effects of two anthocyanins purified from mulberry fruits, namely cyanidin 3-glucoside (C3G) and cyanidin 3-rutinoside (C3R), on glycated ß-lactoglobulins (ß-Lg). Both mulberry anthocyanins (MAs) inhibited the AGEs-formation in a dose-dependent manner, but the effect of C3R was significantly stronger than that of C3G (p < 0.05). MAs inhibited AGEs-formation by selectively trapping dicarbonyls, especially glyoxal. The UPLC-ESI-Q-TOF-MS results characterized that C3R formed mono- and di-glyoxal adducts, where C3G only created di-glyoxal adducts. Additionally, C3R could directly interact with some of the glycation sites of ß-Lg. Overall, GO-trapping and ß-Lg-MAs covalent/noncovalent binding are disclosed as the key mechanisms of the anti-AGEs activity of MAs on ß-Lg, which could be valorised as effectual AGEs inhibitors in proteins-rich matrices.

The microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are recognized to be highly effective for the biodegradation of phenol. For isolating the phenol-degrading bacteria, the sample containing 500 mg/L phenol was collected from the MFCs. The strain (WL027) was identified basing on the 16S rRNA gene analysis and phylogenetic analysis as Bacillus cereus. The effects of pH, temperature, concentrations of phenol, heavy metal ions, and salt on the growth of strain as well as the degradation of phenol have been carefully studied. The WL027-strain exhibited favorable tolerance for the metal cations including Cr2+, Co2+, Pb2+, and Cu2+ with the concentration of 0.2 mg/L and NaCl solution with a high concentration of 30 g/L. In 41 h, 86.44% of 500 mg/L phenol has been degraded at the initial pH at 6 and the temperature of 30 °C. The strain was highly active electrogenesis bacteria and the coulombic efficiency reached 64.25%, which showed significant advantage on the efficient energy conversion. Therefore, due to the highly efficient degradation of phenol, WL027-strain could be used in the treatment of phenol-containing wastewater.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the Suidasia nesbitti breeding status in the ground dust flour collected in Qiqihaer City. METHODS: Totally, 16 aliquots of ground dust flour were respectively collected from a college canteen and 15 households in Qiqihaer City. Then 10 g dust flour was taken from individual sample for isolation of the mites that were made of slide specimen, and the mites were identified and classified under a microscope. RESULTS: Acaroid mites were found in 15 of the 16 aliquots of samples (detection rate being 93.8%), and 7 species, belonging to 6 genera under 3 families, were identified. A total of 561 heads of mites were isolated from 160 g samples, with an average breeding density of 3.51 heads/g. The most breeding mite was associated with S. nesbitti. CONCLUSIONS: Various species of mites are breeding in the ground dust flour in Qiqihaer City, and S. nesbitti occurs the most. These findings indicate that effective measures should be taken to prevent and control the harm associated with acaroid mite contamination.
