RESUMO

The stability-related issues arising from the perovskite precursor inks, films, device structures and interdependence remain severely under-explored to date. Herein, we designed an ionic-liquid polymer (poly[Se-MI][BF4 ]), containing functional moieties like carbonyl (C=O), selenium (Se+ ), and tetrafluoroborate (BF4 - ) ions, to stabilize the whole device fabrication process. The C=O and Se+ can coordinate with lead and iodine (I- ) ions to stabilize lead polyhalide colloids and the compositions of the perovskite precursor inks for over two months. The Se+ anchored on grain boundaries and the defects passivated by BF4 - efficiently suppress the dissociation and migration of I- in perovskite films. Benefiting from the synergistic effects of poly[Se-MI][BF4 ], high efficiencies of 25.10 % and 20.85 % were exhibited by a 0.062-cm2 device and 15.39-cm2 module, respectively. The devices retained over 90 % of their initial efficiency under operation for 2200 h.

RESUMO

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with diverse composition, tunable structure, and unique physicochemical properties have emerged as promising materials in various fields. The tunable pore structure, abundant active sites, and ultrahigh specific surface area can facilitate mass transport and provide outstanding capacity, making MOFs an ideal active material for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. However, the poor electrical conductivity of pristine MOFs severely limits their applications in electrochemistry. Developing conductive MOFs has proved to be an effective solution to this problem. This review focuses on the design and synthesis of conductive MOF composites with judiciously chosen conducting materials, pristine MOFs, and assembly methods, as well as the preparation of intrinsically conductive MOFs based on building 2D π-conjugated structures, introducing mixed-valence metal ions/redox-active ligands, designing π-π stacked pathways, and constructing infinite metal-sulfur chains (-M-S-)∞ . Furthermore, recent progress and challenges of conductive MOFs for energy storage and conversion (supercapacitors, Li-ion batteries, Li-S batteries, and electrochemical water splitting) are summarized.

RESUMO

The ecology was severely harmed by waste tires (WT) and oily sludge (OS). The OS and WT combinations' co-pyrolysis features, synergistic effects, and gas products were studied using thermogravimetric-infrared spectroscopy (TG-FTIR). To study kinetics and optimize pyrolysis, the Coats-Redfern and response surface methods were used. The results revealed that the OS and WT co-pyrolysis has synergistic effects. The major pyrolysis temperature range and the pyrolysis residual rate increased as the heating rate increased, and the E of the reaction increased. The strength of small-molecular-gases precipitation was modified by increasing the ratio of WT to OS, which increased OS pyrolysis. CH4, CO2, CO, and H2O are the most common gas products. The minimum estimated E and residual amount were 40.599 kJ/mol and 39.33%, respectively, when the WT mixture ratio was 58.7% and the heating rate was 10 °C/min. All the study contributes basic data to the development of the treatment of OS and WT in collaboration.

RESUMO

The co-combustion characteristics and kinetics of Fenton/CaO conditioned MSS, and biomass rice husk (RH) are studied by thermogravimetry, and the condition optimization was carried out by response surface methodology (RSM). The results show that the mixed fuel with RH is helpful to decrease Ti and Tb values and increase combustion characteristic index (CCI). The CCI of MSS after conditioning is 0.59-0.88 times lower than that of the pure MSS. In addition, the total Em of S2, MSS/RH mixed combustion after Fenton/CaO conditioning is lower, the combustion reactivity is stronger. According to RSM, the optimum conditions are considered to be: RH mixing ratio 56%, Fenton/CaO conditioner dosage 147 mg g-1 dry solids, heating rate 30 K min-1, the maximum CCI 25.3305 × 10-7%2 °C-3 min-2, and the minimum Em 10.6403 kJ min-1. This study supplies new insights into combustion technology of sludge.

RESUMO

From catanionic fluoro-/hydro-carbon mixtures of fluoroacetic acid (CF3COOH) and tetradecyldimethylaminoxide (C14DMAO) in water, viscoelastic wormlike micelles are successfully constructed which are determined by cryo-TEM measurements. It is found that the formation and rheological behavior of the wormlike micelles are greatly affected by the total concentration and mixing ratio of CF3COOH and C14DMAO as well as temperature. The driving force for the formation of wormlike micelles here is considered to be the electrostatic attractive interaction between the two molecules which is confirmed by 1H NMR measurements. As far as we know, such wormlike micelles formed from the catanionic mixtures of fluorofatty acids and hydrocarbon surfactants have been rarely reported. Our work provides a simple method through mixing a perfluorofatty acid with a hydrocarbon surfactant to construct and understand the formation mechanism of catanionic fluoro-/hydro-carbon wormlike micelles, which should be a great advance in the fundamental research of wormlike micelles.

RESUMO

We report interesting hierarchical self-assembled architectures from a designed amphiphilic peptide. The bisignate cotton effects in circular dichroism spectra show typical peptide aggregation-induced. The observation of peptide assembly structures from initial particles and fibrils to ribbon structures is supported by microscopy (atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy). The visualization of individual peptide at the single molecular level offered insights of the intermolecular interactions responsible for the formation of aggregates, which is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. The orientation of intermolecular bonds between carboxylic and amine group and the hydrophobic interactions between alanine residues could be the dominant driving force for the assembly chirality at near-neutral pH. The single molecular and aggregate level evidence in this manuscript will shed light on the understanding of hierarchical chiral self-assembly pathway and the underlying mechanism. RESUMO

PURPOSE: LSD1 is overexpressed in various cancers including breast cancer, but its functional roles in tumourigenesis are not fully understood. This study aims at revealing the role of LSD1 in breast cancer development. In addition, it has been reported that phosphorylation of the Serine 112 residue of LSD1 by PKCα is crucial for its function in gene regulation. We also explored whether this phosphorylation affects LSD1's role in breast cancer development. METHODS: This study includes LSD1 IHC data generated with tissue microarrays of 163 cases of breast cancer samples and 72 normal tissues. In vitro, role of LSD1, LSD1 S112D mutant (a phosphorylation simulation) and LSD1 S112A mutant (an unphosphorylation simulation) in induction of EMT is evaluated. Mechanismly, we checked the role of LSD1 and its mutant on E-cadherin promoter histone modifications. We also investigated the role of LSD1 and its mutants in metastasis with a nude mice model. RESULTS: We found LSD1 is expressed at a higher level in breast cancer tissues compared with that in normal tissues, and LSD1 expression is closely linked to breast cancer metastasis. LSD1 potentiates EMT in breast epithelia cells by repressing E-cadherin expression through demethylating H3K4me at gene's promoter, during which phosphorylation of LSD1 Ser112 is crucial for its binding and demethylation activity. In vivo, knockdown of LSD1 impairs the metastatic ability of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells in nude mice. Ectopic overexpression of either LSD1 or LSD1 S112D mutant (a phosphorylation simulation) facilitates metastasis, whereas the LSD1 S112A mutant (an unphosphorylation simulation) fails to affect the metastasis. CONCLUSIONS: Data presented in this report indicate that LSD1 is able to induce EMT and to promote metastasis in breast cancer, and phosphorylation at LSD1 Ser112 is crucial for these functions.

RESUMO

Giant vesicles (1-10 µm) were constructed via a facile ionic self-assembly (ISA) strategy using an anionic dye Acid Orange II (AO) and an oppositely charged ionic-liquid-type cationic surfactant 1-tetradecyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (C14mimBr). This is the first report about preparing giant vesicles through ISA strategy. Interestingly, the giant vesicle could keep the original morphology during the evaporation of solvent and displayed solid-like properties at low concentration. Moreover, giant vesicles with large internal capacity volume and good stability in solution could also be achieved by increasing the concentrations of AO and C14mimBr which contributed to the increase of the other noncovalent cooperative interactions. In order to facilitate comparison, a series of parallel experiments with similar materials were carried out to investigate and verify the driving forces for the formation of these kinds of giant vesicles by changing the hydrophobic moieties or the head groups of the surfactants. It is concluded that the electrostatic interaction, hydrophobic effect and π-π stacking interaction play key roles in this self-assembly process. Importantly, the giant vesicles can act as a smart microcarrier to load and release carbon quantum dot (CQD) under control. Besides, the giant vesicles could also be applied as a microrector to synthesize monodispersed Ag nanoparticles with diameter of about 5-10 nm which exhibited the ability to catalyze reduction of 4-nitroaniline. Therefore, it is indicated that our AO/C14mimBr assemblies hold promising applications in the areas of microencapsulation, catalyst support, and lightweight composites owing to their huge sizes and large microcavities.

RESUMO

Asecodes hispinarum (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is an endoparasitoid and an efficient biological control agent which attacks larvae of Brontispa longissima, a serious insect pest of Palmae plants in China. Odorant binding proteins (OBPs) are believed to be important for transporting semiochemicals through the aqueous sensillar lymph to the olfactory receptor cells within the insect antennal sensilla. No previous study has reported on OBPs in A. hispinarum. In this study, we conducted the large-scale identification of OBP genes from the antennae of A. hispinarum by using transcriptome sequencing. Approximately 28.4 million total raw reads and about 27.3 million total clean reads were obtained, and then 46,363 unigenes were assembled. Of these unigenes, a total of 21,263 can be annotated in the NCBI non-redundant database. Among the annotated unigenes, 16,623 of them can be assigned to GO (Gene Ontology). Furthermore, we identified 8 putative OBP genes, and a phylogenetic tree analysis was performed to characterize the 8 OBP genes. In addition, the expression of the 8 OBP genes in different A. hispinarum body tissues was analyzed by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The results indicated that the 8 OBP genes were expressed accordingly to sexes and tissues, but all highly expressed in antennae. The finding of this study will lay the foundation for unraveling molecular mechanisms of A. hispinarum chemoperception.

RESUMO

The aggregation behavior and rheological properties of two mixtures of perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA)/NaOH and perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA)/NaOH were investigated in aqueous solutions. Interestingly, pH-sensitive polyhedral fatty acid vesicles were spontaneously formed in both systems, which were determined by freeze-fracture transmission electron microscopy (FF-TEM) measurements. Especially, a phase transition from faceted vesicles to the L3 phase with the increase of pH was observed in the PFNA/NaOH system while it was not observed in the PFDA/NaOH system. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) measurements confirmed that the bilayers of the faceted vesicles were in the crystalline station indicating that the crystallization of fluorocarbon chains was the main driving force for their formation. Besides, the two systems of faceted perfluorofatty acid vesicles exhibit interesting rheological properties, for instance, they showed high viscoelasticity and shear-thinning behaviour, and the elastic modulus (G') and viscous modulus (G'') of PFDA/NaOH vesicles were much higher than those of PFNA/NaOH vesicles. Conversely, the solution of the L3 phase with fluid bilayers did not present viscoelastic properties. Therefore, the viscoelastic properties of vesicles resulted from the crystalline fluorinated alkyl chains with high rigidity at room temperature and the dense packing of vesicles. As far as we know, such faceted fatty acid vesicles formed from single-tailed perfluorinated surfactants have been rarely reported. Our work successfully constructs polyhedral fatty acid vesicles and proposes their formation mechanism, which should be a great advance in the fundamental research of fatty acid vesicles.

RESUMO

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogels have been proposed for use as promising biomaterials in biomedical and tissue engineering, and graphene oxide (GO) has been recognized as a unique two-dimensional building block for various graphene-based supramolecular architectures. In this article, we systematically studied the influence of three kinds of PVA with different molecular weights on the interaction between PVA and GO. Moreover, the effects of PVA on the gelation of GO were also investigated. The native PVA hydrogel, as well as PVA-GO hybrid hydrogels, have been thoroughly characterized by the phase behavior study and various techniques including field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and rheological measurements. It can be seen that with the increase of the molecular weight of PVA, the addition of GO can effectively promote the gelation of PVA which can be reflected by a decrease of the critical gel concentration (CGC) for PVA-GO hydrogels. Dye adsorption experiments indicate that the toxic dye, i.e., methylene blue (MB), was efficiently entrapped in the PVA-GO xerogels. It is also demonstrated that the gelation of PVA and GO composites can be promoted by different supramolecular interactions, including hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction. This work indicates that the PVA-GO composite is a good candidate for preparing "super" and "smart" hydrogels and will enable further studies on the supramolecular chemistry of PVA, graphene and its derivatives.

RESUMO

Wearable thermoelectric generators have great potential to provide power for smart electronic wearable devices and miniature sensors by harnessing the temperature difference between the human body and the environment. However, the Thomson effect, the Joule effect, and heat conduction can cause a decrease in the temperature difference across the thermoelectric generator during operation. In this paper, phase change materials (PCMs) were employed as the heat sink for the thermoelectric generator, and the COMSOL software 6.1 was utilized to simulate and optimize the power generation processes within the heat sink. The results indicated that with a PCM height of 40 mm, phase transition temperature of 293 K, latent heat of 200 kJ/kg, phase transition temperature interval of 5 K, thermal conductivity of 50 W/(m·K), isobaric heat capacity of 2000 J/(Kg·K), density of 1000 kg/m3, and convective heat transfer coefficient of 10 W/(m·K), the device can maintain a temperature difference of 18-10 K for 1930 s when the thermoelectric leg height is 1.6 mm, and 3760 s when the thermoelectric leg height is 2.7 mm. These results demonstrate the correlation between the device's output performance and the dimensions and performance parameters of the PCM heat sink, thereby validating the feasibility of employing the PCM heat sink and the necessity for systematic investigations.

RESUMO

GeTe and Ge0.99-xIn0.01SnxTe0.94Se0.06 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, and 0.06) samples were prepared by vacuum synthesis combined with spark plasma sintering (SPS). The thermoelectric properties of GeTe were coordinated by multiple doping of Sn, In, and Se. In this work, a maximum zT(zT = S2σT/κ) of 0.9 and a power factor (PF = S2σ) of 3.87 µWmm-1 K-2 were obtained in a sample of Ge0.99In0.01Te0.94Se0.06 at 723K. The XRD results at room temperature show that all samples are rhombohedral phase structures. There is a peak (~27°) of the Ge element in GeTe and the sample (x = 0), but it disappears after Sn doping, indicating that Sn doping can promote the dissolution of Ge. The scattering mechanism of the doped samples was calculated by the conductivity ratio method. The results show that phonon scattering Is dominant in all samples, and alloy scattering is enhanced with the increase in the Sn doping amount. In doping can introduce resonance energy levels and increase the Seebeck coefficient, and Se doping can introduce point defects to suppress phonon transmission and reduce lattice thermal conductivity. Therefore, the thermoelectric properties of samples with x = 0 improved. Although Sn doping will promote the dissolution of Ge precipitation, the phase transition of the samples near 580 K deteriorates the thermoelectric properties. The thermoelectric properties of Sn-doped samples improved only at room temperature to ~580 K compared with pure GeTe. The synergistic effect of multi-element doping is a comprehensive reflection of the interaction between elements rather than the sum of all the effects of single-element doping.

RESUMO

As an essential cognitive function, attention has been widely studied and various indices based on EEG have been proposed for its convenience and easy availability for real-time attention monitoring. Although existing indices based on spectral power of empirical frequency bands are able to describe the attentional state in some way, the reliability still needs to be improved. This paper proposed a subject-specific attention index based on the weighted spectral power. Unlike traditional indices, the ranges of frequency bands are not empirical but obtained from subject-specific change patterns of spectral power of electroencephalograph (EEG) to overcome the great inter-subject variance. In addition, the contribution of each frequency component in the frequency band is considered different. Specifically, the ratio of power spectral density (PSD) function in attentional and inattentional state is utilized to calculate the weight to enhance the effectiveness of the proposed index. The proposed subject-specific attention index based on the weighted spectral power is evaluated on two open datasets including EEG data of a total of 44 subjects. The results of the proposed index are compared with 3 traditional attention indices using various statistical analysis methods including significance tests and distribution variance measurements. According to the experimental results, the proposed index can describe the attentional state more accurately. The proposed index respectively achieves accuracies of 86.21% and 70.00% at the 1% significance level in both the t-test and Wilcoxon rank-sum test for two datasets, which obtains improvements of 41.38% and 20.00% compared to the best result of the traditional indices. These results indicate that the proposed index provides an efficient way to measure attentional state.

RESUMO

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have been widely focused and extensively studied in recent years for their huge prospect of medical rehabilitation and commercial applications. Transfer learning exploits the information in the source domain and applies in another different but related domain (target domain), and is therefore introduced into the BCIs to figure out the inter-subject variances of electroencephalography (EEG) signals. In this article, a novel transfer learning method is proposed to preserve the Riemannian locality of data structure in both the source and target domains and simultaneously realize the joint distribution adaptation of both domains to enhance the effectiveness of transfer learning. Specifically, a Riemannian graph is first defined and constructed based on the Riemannian distance to represent the Riemannian geometry information. To simultaneously align the marginal and conditional distribution of source and target domains and preserve the Riemannian locality of data structure in both domains, the Riemannian graph is embedded in the joint distribution adaptation (JDA) framework and forms the proposed Riemannian locality preserving-based transfer learning (RLPTL). To validate the effect of the proposed method, it is compared with several existing methods on two open motor imagery datasets, and both multi-source domains (MSD) and single-source domains (SSD) experiments are considered. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves the highest accuracies in MSD and SSD experiments on three datasets and outperforms eight baseline methods, which demonstrates that the proposed method creates a feasible and efficient way to realize transfer learning.

RESUMO

Flexible perovskite solar cells (pero-SCs) have the potential to overturn the application scenario of silicon photovoltaic technology. However, their mechanical instability severely impedes their practical applicability, and the corresponding intrinsic degradation mechanism remains unclear. In this study, the degradation behavior of flexible pero-SCs is systematically analyzed under mechanical stress and it is observed that the structural failure first occurs in the polycrystal perovskite film, then extend to interfaces. To suppress the structural failure, pentaerythritol triacrylate, a crosslinked molecule with three stereoscopic crosslink sites, is employed to establish a 3D polymer network in both the interface and bulk perovskite. This network reduced the Young's modulus of the perovskite and simultaneously enhanced the interfacial toughness. As a result, the formation of cracks and delamination, which occur under a high mechanical stress, is significantly suppressed in the flexible pero-SC, which consequently retained 92% of its initial power conversion efficiency (PCE) after 20 000 bending cycles. Notably, the flexible device also shows a record PCE of 24.9% (certified 24.48%).

RESUMO

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer (BC) with a high mortality rate, and few effective therapeutic strategies are available. CCL5/CCR5 is an appealing immunotherapeutic target for TNBC. However, its signaling mechanism is poorly understood and its direct antagonists have not been reported. Here, we developed a high-throughput screening (HTS) assay for discovering its antagonists. Verteporfin was identified as a more selective and potent antagonist than the known CCR5 antagonist maraviroc. Without photodynamic therapy, verteporfin demonstrated significant inhibition on TNBC tumor growth through immune regulation, remarkable suppression of lung metastasis by cell-intrinsic mechanism, and a significant extension of overall survival in vivo. Mechanistically, CCR5 was found to be essential for expression of the key hippo effector YAP1. It promoted YAP1 transcription via HIF-1α and exerted further control over the migration of CD8+ T, NK, and MDSC immune cells through chemokines CXCL16 and CXCL8 which were identified from RNA-seq. Moreover, the CCR5-YAP1 axis played a vital role in promoting metastasis by modulating ß-catenin and core epithelial-mesenchymal transition transcription factors ZEB1 and ZEB2. It is noteworthy that the regulatory relationship between CCR5 and YAP1 was observed across various BC subtypes, TNBC patients, and showed potential relevance in fifteen additional cancer types. Overall, this study introduced an easy-to-use HTS assay that streamlines the discovery of CCL5/CCR5 axis antagonists. Verteporfin was identified as a specific molecular probe of this axis with great potentials as a therapeutic agent for treating sixteen malignant diseases characterized by heightened CCR5 and YAP1 levels.

RESUMO

A cell culture model of osteoblast differentiation was applied in our study of the effect of sialic acid on the osteogenesis by using the pre-osteoblast of MC3T3-E1 subclone 14 cells. Following the treatment of different concentrations of α2,3-neuraminidase, which specifically removed the α2-3 sialic acid from cell surface, a significant decrease of α2-3 sialic acid was detected with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labeled Maackia amurensis lectin (MAL-II) by flow cytometry analysis. von Kossa staining showed that the bone mineralization decreased in MC3T3-E1 subclone 14 cells after the treatment of α2,3-neuraminidase for 2 weeks. However α2,3-neuraminidase did not affect the formation of osteoblasts in MC3T3-E1 subclone 14 cells, which was demonstrated by positive alkaline phosphatase (ALP)-staining. Characteristic biological markers and osteoblast-like cell-related factors of osteoblastic cells were also examined. Both RT-PCR and Western blot analysis demonstrated that the expression of bone sialoprotein (BSP), osteoprotegerin (OPG), and vitamin D receptor (VDR) were significantly decreased when α2-3 sialic acid expression decreased on the cell surface, while the expression of osteocalcin (OC) and osteopontin (OPN) remained unchanged. We propose a hypothesis that α2-3 sialic acid affects bone mineralization but not osteogenic differentiation.

RESUMO

Conventional thermoelectric generators, predominantly based on the π-type structure, are severely limited in their applications due to the relatively low conversion efficiency. In response to the challenge, in this work, a Bi2Te3-based thermoelectric transistor driven by laser illumination is demonstrated. Under laser illumination, a temperature difference of 46.7 °C is produced between the two ends of the transistor structure. Further, the hole concentrations in each region redistribute and the built-in voltages decrease due to the temperature difference, leading to the formation of the transistor circuit. Additionally, the operation condition of the thermoelectric transistor is presented. The calculation results demonstrate that the maximum output power of such a designed thermoelectric transistor is 0.7093 µW.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Visual evoked potentials (VEPs) have been commonly applied in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) due to their satisfactory classification performance recently. However, most existing methods with flickering or oscillating stimuli will induce visual fatigue under long-term training, thus restricting the implementation of VEP-based BCIs. To address this issue, a novel paradigm adopting static motion illusion based on illusion-induced visual evoked potential (IVEP) is proposed for BCIs to enhance visual experience and practicality. APPROACH: This study explored the responses to baseline and illusion tasks including the Rotating-Tilted-Lines (RTL) illusion and Rotating-Snakes (RS) illusion. The distinguishable features were examined between different illusions by analyzing the event-related potentials (ERPs) and amplitude modulation of evoked oscillatory responses. MAIN RESULTS: The illusion stimuli elicited VEPs in an early time window encompassing a negative component (N1) from 110 to 200 ms and a positive component (P2) between 210 and 300 ms. Based on the feature analysis, a filter bank was designed to extract discriminative signals. The task-related component analysis (TRCA) was used to evaluate the binary classification task performance of the proposed method. Then the highest accuracy of 86.67% was achieved with a data length of 0.6 s. SIGNIFICANCE: The results of this study demonstrate that the static motion illusion paradigm has the feasibility of implementation and is promising for VEP-based BCI applications.
