RESUMO

NUP155 is reported to be correlated with tumor development. However, the role of NUP155 in tumor physiology and the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) has not been previously examined. This study comprehensively investigated the expression, immunological function, and prognostic significance of NUP155 in different cancer types. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that NUP155 was upregulated in 26 types of cancer. Additionally, NUP155 upregulation was strongly correlated with advanced pathological or clinical stages and poor prognosis in several cancers. Furthermore, NUP155 was significantly and positively correlated with DNA methylation, tumor mutational burden, microsatellite instability, and stemness score in most cancers. Additionally, NUP155 was also found to be involved in TIME and closely associated with tumor infiltrating immune cells and immunoregulation-related genes. Functional enrichment analysis revealed a strong correlation between NUP155 and immunomodulatory pathways, especially antigen processing and presentation. The role of NUP155 in breast cancer has not been examined. This study, for the first time, demonstrated that NUP155 was upregulated in breast invasive carcinoma (BRCA) cells and revealed its oncogenic role in BRCA using molecular biology experiments. Thus, our study highlights the potential value of NUP155 as a biomarker in the assessment of prognostic prediction, tumor microenvironment and immunotherapeutic response in pan-cancer.

RESUMO

Although market-based CO2 emission control measures (e.g., carbon tax and carbon trading market) have been deeply discussed, government-based measures have received limited attention. This has led to increased uncertainty regarding the formulation of targeted emission reduction policies. Using a unique dataset, the non-radial directional distance function, a proposed spatial meta-frontier analysis method, and the log t convergence model, this study comprehensively investigates the spatio-temporal trends in fiscal environmental expenditure efficiency (FE) and corresponding causes for in a case study for 106 Chinese cities over 2007-2019. The results show that city-level FE presented a slow upward trend at a relatively low level, with a clearly skewed distribution. The technology gap effect between city groups and the overall best production technology, and the efficiency gap effect within city groups were the main drivers widening the overall FE gap. Convergence analysis indicated that three convergence clubs of FE were found, which were distributed across the country. This study highlights that, when constructing fiscal environmental expenditure policies, the government should focus on balancing the regional gap of FE while comprehensively improving FE.

RESUMO

The temporal distribution of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) was examined in the (210)Pb dated sediment core from the Beibu Gulf, South China Sea. The total OCPs concentrations were in the range of 0.93-26.6 ng g(-1) dry weight. Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes (DDTs) (0.17-24.8 ng g(-1)), Hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs) (0.04-0.51 ng g(-1)), Chlordane related compounds (CHLs) (0.22-1.72 ng g(-1)) and endosulfan (n.d.-0.91 ng g(-1)) were the predominant compounds. Similar to most Chinese coastal areas, the levels of DDTs in the Beibu Gulf became elevated since the early 1990s, especially since 2000 despite the ban in 1983 in China. This suggests that the concentrations of DDTs were controlled by several processes, such as land reclamation and soil runoff. The isomer ratios of (p,p'-DDE + p,p'-DDD)/p,p'-DDT, p,p'-DDT/DDTs along with construction land expansion indicated that economic activities, land reclamation, soil runoff and the use of DDT-containing antifouling paints might be responsible for the input of DDT. The ratios of α-HCH/γ-HCH (and γ-HCH/HCHs) and trans-chlordane/cis-chlordane (TC/CC) indicated fresh inputs of lindane and chlordane, respectively. In addition, CC was found to be degraded faster than TC under anaerobic conditions in sediments from the Beibu Gulf.

RESUMO

The Lijiang River is a typical karst river of southwestern China. Karst-aquifer systems are more vulnerable to contamination compared to other types of aquifers. The occurrence and distribution of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in surface sediments from the Lijiang River were investigated to evaluate their potential ecological risks. The total concentrations of them in sediments ranged from 0.80 to 18.73 ng/g dry weight (dw) (mean 6.83 ng/g dw). The residue levels of OCPs varied in the order of HCB > HCHs > DDTs. Compositional analyses of OCPs showed that HCHs and DDTs were mainly from historical usage. The ecological risk assessment suggested that HCHs and DDTs in Lijiang River sediments may cause adverse ecological risks, particularly at sites near agricultural areas.

RESUMO

The primary energy consumption structure of BRICS countries is dominated by fossil energy, particularly coal. Coal consumption in BRICS countries is a major driver underlying increased carbon emissions. Therefore, this study developed a spatiotemporal decoupling mode and incorporated factors related to coal consumption-induced carbon emissions into a spatiotemporal decoupling analysis method to provide differentiated and targeted policies for energy restructuring and emission reduction targets in BRICS countries. Moreover, a temporal-spatial decomposition logarithmic mean Divisia index model was developed using the spatiotemporal decoupling index method. The model is based on CO2 emissions generated by coal consumption in BRICS countries, with a primary focus on data from Brazil, Russia, South Africa, India, and China. The findings reveal distinct spatiotemporal distributions and driving effects of coal consumption and carbon dioxide emissions across various countries. Factors such as CO2 emission intensity, coal consumption intensity, economic output per capita, and population structure exerted either positive or negative effects on the distributional effect of the carbon emission-economic output per capita association in BRICS countries. Additionally, country-level heterogeneity in the influence of the distributional effects of CO2 emissions was observed within each BRICS country. Thus, different policies are needed to achieve carbon emission reduction targets in different countries.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Wrist-ankle acupuncture (WAA) has been reported in the treatment of acute pain in orthopedic surgery. However, the effects of WAA on acute pain were controversial in the current studies. Therefore, the purpose of this meta-analysis was to critically evaluate the effects of WAA on acute pain in orthopedic surgery. METHODS: Several digital databases were searched from the inception of databases to July 2021, including CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, CBM, Pubmed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Embase, Medline, and Web of Science Core Collection. The risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane collaboration criteria. The primary outcome indicators included pain score, pain killer dosage, analgesia satisfaction, and adverse reaction incidence. All analyses were performed with Review Manager 5.4.1. RESULT: A total of 10 studies with 725 patients with orthopedic surgery (intervention group: 361, control group: 364) were included in this meta-analysis. The results demonstrated that the pain score of the intervention group was lower than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant [MD = - 0.29, 95%CI (- 0.37, - 0.21), P < 0.0001]. Compared with the control group, the patient in the intervention group used smaller amounts of pain killer [MD = - 0.16, 95%CI (- 0.30, - 0.02), P = 0.02]. The satisfaction of patients on pain relief was also higher in the intervention group, and the difference was statistically [OR = 0.25, 95%CI (0.15,0.41), P < 0.0001]. CONCLUSION: WAA has a certain effect on acute pain in orthopedic surgery, and the effect of WAA combined with other therapies is better than that of not using WAA therapy.

RESUMO

Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in the air of Dayan Cave in Guilin were analyzed, to investigate the source and contamination levels. Generally, air outside of the cave had much higher concentrations than inside air, and both outside and inside air showed much lower contamination levels than those observed in other regions in China and abroad. The ratios of α-/γ-HCHs and the percentages of ß-(or δ-)HCH implied a residue of historical local technical HCH contamination. The DDT concentrations, o,p'-DDT/p,p'-DDT, and p,p'-DDE/p,p'-DDT suggested fresh DDT-containing products acted as the primary source of DDT for the air in Dayan Cave. An intermediate level concentration of α-endosulfan (156.00 pg/m(3)) was observed in the outside air, implying local source was dominant. Based on the similar sources of HCH and DDT and the relationships between outside and inside air, it appeared that outside air pollutants affected on inside HCH and DDT's distribution. For other OCPs, outside air might be major contributor to inside air contamination under conditions of high concentrations in outside air compared with low levels in inside air for semi-closed karstic caves.

RESUMO

Background: Hallux valgus is a relatively common forefoot disease in clinical practice. The aim of our study was to assess the role of local cocktail drugs and postoperative pain after hallux valgus surgery. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted to analyze 75 moderate to severe hallux valgus patients from June 1, 2018 to December 1, 2019. All patients were divided into cocktail and control groups according to whether the cocktail therapy was used or not after the operation. The anesthesiologist did not provide analgesic treatment other than nerve block anesthesia and intravenous anesthesia, such as analgesic pumps. The operative region of the cocktail group received a mixture of 10 ml of 0.75% ropivacaine, 10 ml of flurbiprofen axetil injection, and 1 ml of compound betamethasone injection, whereas the control group received nothing in the surgical spot. We recorded patients' VAS scores preoperatively and at 6, 24 hours postoperatively; the length of hospital stay and the number of hospitalization expenses; the scores of Kolcaba comfort level; and the scores of Pittsburgh sleep quality. Result: There was no significant difference in age or sex between the two groups. The VAS scores at 6 and 24 hours postoperatively were significantly lower in the cocktail group. The average length of hospital stay was 8.24 days in the control group and 3.73 days in the cocktail group. The average total hospitalization cost of the control group was ¥28285.16, and that of the cocktail group was ¥22366.31. In expenses of total hospitalization costs, the cocktail group was lower than the control group. Kolcaba's comfort various scores and the total score of the cocktail group were higher than the control group. The total score of PSQI and all dimensions in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group. Conclusion: We found a significant difference in the results of postoperative pain management except for age, sex, and hospitalization expenses. After hallux valgus surgery, inject cocktail drugs around the first metatarsophalangeal joint did reduce postoperative pain level. Level of Evidence. Level III, case-control study.

RESUMO

Organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) including HCH, DDT, chlordane, endosulfan, and endosulfan sulfate were analyzed in surface soil of the Dayan Cave to investigate their source and concentration levels in September 2006. Generally, the data showed that outside soil of the cave had much higher concentrations than inside soil for the most detected OCPs in the cave and both inside soil and outside soil showed much lower concentration levels (basically, the levels of OCPs were less than 0.7 ng/g) than those observed in other regions within and outside China other than TC (ranging from 3.22 to 5.00 ng/g) and CC (ranging from 3.89 to 5.08 ng/g) in the soil outside. The ratios of α-/γ-HCH ranged from 0.88 to 1.20 in the soil of the cave, together with the averaged percentages of ß-HCH and δ-HCH among the total HCH isomers (accounting for 39.0% and 14.2%, respectively), implied that a historical residue of local technical HCH contamination was likely to be dominant in the soil of the cave. Based on (1) the accordance of TC/CC ratios (ranging from 0.83 to 0.98) between the values observed in the outside soil and the potentially available chlordane products in the markets, and (2) the high concentrations of TC and CC observed in the outside soil, it appeared that the illegal usage of technical chlordane was done in Guilin. The low concentrations of TC (0.02 to 0.56 ng/g) and CC (0.10 to 1.71 ng/g) in the inside soil, together with the significant distinctions of TC/CC ratios between the inside soil (ranging from 0.03 to 0.33) and the outside soil, implied that the chlordane in the inside soil of the cave was a historical residue of local technical chlordane contamination. The similar ratios of DDT isomers (o, p (')-DDT/p, p (')-DDT and p, p (')-DDE+DDD/DDT) between the outside soil and the inside soil of the cave suggested that they may have the similar DDT source. The ratios of p, p (')-DDE+DDD/DDT (ranging from 3 to 8) indicated that DDT was relatively aged. The values of o, p (')-DDT/p, p (')-DDT ratios (ranging from 3 to 7.5 with a mean value of 5.45) were found to be much higher than that of technical DDT, and very similar to that of dicofol products, implied that the primary source of DDT in the soil of the cave was most probably from dicofol-type DDT products. The low concentration levels of endosulfan and the higher levels of metabolite endosulfan sulfate indicated that the residue from historical usage of technical endosulfan was likely to be dominant in the soil of the cave.

RESUMO

Thirty-five surface sediment samples collected from Beibu Gulf and its tributary rivers, China were analyzed for DDTs, HCHs and chlordanes. Total concentrations of DDTs, HCHs and chlordanes in sediments ranged from 0.59 to 126 ng g(-)(1), ND to 2.65 ng g(-)(1) and 0.27 to 3.41 ng g(-)(1) based on dry weight (dw), respectively. Concentrations of DDTs were higher than those reported in the sediments from other regions of the world, while concentrations of HCHs and chlordanes were relatively low. High concentrations of DDTs were observed in the harbor region and aquaculture bases and high concentrations of HCHs were found in the Qin River Estuary. The ratios of (DDE+DDD)/DDTs reflected a mixed input of weathered and fresh DDTs. The predominant ß-HCH indicated that HCHs in the study area mainly originated from the historical usage of technical HCH. The residues of DDTs would pose adverse biological effects on the study area.
