OBJECTIVE: Identify, describe and produce an evidence map of studies investigating psychosocial factors association with, or effect on, clinical outcomes for people with knee osteoarthritis. METHODS: Scoping review of interventional and observational studies was performed. Medline (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), Cumulated Index in Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PsycInfo and Web of Science were searched on the 15th May 2023. Screening, data extraction and analysis was performed by two independent researchers. Extracted information included characteristics of studies plus which psychosocial factors were used to investigate association with, or effect on, clinical outcome(s). Descriptive statistics summarized the study design, temporal trend, geographic distribution, frequency of each psychosocial factor and whether associations/effects were observed. RESULTS: 23,065 records were screened, with 108 studies selected. Eighty-two percent of studies (n = 89/108) were cross-sectional in design. Number of studies increased over time and spanned 28 countries. Most research originated from the Americas region (55 %, 59/108). Twenty-four psychosocial factors (11 psychological, 13 social) were identified. Depression (47 %, n = 48/102) and education (28 %, n = 29/102) were the most frequently reported psychological and social factors, respectively. Psychological factors were often reported to have an association with/effect on pain (81 %, n = 71/88) and physical function (75 %, n = 56/74). Social factors were less frequently reported to have an association with or effect on pain (57 %, n = 46/81) and physical function (50 %, n = 18/36). CONCLUSION: Psychosocial factors are often associated with clinical outcomes for people with knee osteoarthritis. High-quality longitudinal studies examining a wide range of psychosocial factors across diverse cultural and geographical settings are key to continue informing the development of biopsychosocial models of care.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical and cost effectiveness of the Collaborative Model of Care between Orthopaedics and Allied Healthcare Professionals (CONNACT), a community-based, stratified, multidisciplinary intervention consisting of exercise, education, psychological and nutrition delivered through a chronic care model to usual hospital care in adults with knee osteoarthritis (OA). METHODS: Pragmatic, parallel-arm, single-blinded superiority RCT trial. Community-dwelling, ambulant adults with knee OA (Kellgren-Lawrence grade > 1; Knee Injury and OA Outcome Score (KOOS4) ≤75) were enrolled. Primary outcome was KOOS4 at 12-months; secondary outcomes included: quality of life, physical performance measures, symptom satisfaction, psychological outcomes, dietary habits, and global perceived effect. Intention-to-treat analysis using generalized linear model (GLM) and regression modeling were conducted. Economic evaluation through a societal approach was embedded. RESULTS: 110 participants (55 control, 55 intervention) were randomized. No between-group difference found for the primary outcome (MD [95%CI]: -1.86 [-9.11. 5.38]), although both groups demonstrated within-group improvement over 12-months. Among the secondary outcomes, the CONNACT group demonstrated superior dietary change (12 months) and physical performance measures (3 months), and global perceived effect (6 months). While there was no between-group difference in total cost, significant productivity gains (reduced indirect cost) were seen in the CONNACT group. CONCLUSION: CONNACT was not superior to usual care at 1 year. Further efforts are needed to understand the underlying contextual and implementation factors in order to further improve and refine such community-based, stratified care models moving forward. Pain that accompanies deafferentation is one of the most mysterious and misunderstood medical conditions. Prevalence rates for the assorted conditions vary considerably but the most reliable estimates are greater than 50% for strokes involving the somatosensory system, brachial plexus avulsions, spinal cord injury, and limb amputation, with controversy surrounding the mechanistic contributions of deafferentation to ensuing neuropathic pain syndromes. Deafferentation pain has also been described for loss of other body parts (e.g., eyes and breasts) and may contribute to between 10% and upwards of 30% of neuropathic symptoms in peripheral neuropathies. There is no pathognomonic test or sign to identify deafferentation pain, and part of the controversy surrounding it stems from the prodigious challenges in differentiating cause and effect. For example, it is unknown whether cortical reorganization causes pain or is a byproduct of pathoanatomical changes accompanying injury, including pain. Similarly, ascertaining whether deafferentation contributes to neuropathic pain, or whether concomitant injury to nerve fibers transmitting pain and touch sensation leads to a deafferentation-like phenotype can be clinically difficult, although a detailed neurologic examination, functional imaging, and psychophysical tests may provide clues. Due in part to the concurrent morbidities, the physical, psychologic, and by extension socioeconomic costs of disorders associated with deafferentation are higher than for other chronic pain conditions. Treatment is symptom-based, with evidence supporting first-line antineuropathic medications such as gabapentinoids and antidepressants. Studies examining noninvasive neuromodulation and virtual reality have yielded mixed results.

Transfer RNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) are a class of small non-coding RNA (sncRNA) molecules derived from tRNA, including tRNA derived fragments (tRFs) and tRNA halfs (tiRNAs). tsRNAs can affect cell functions by participating in gene expression regulation, translation regulation, intercellular signal transduction, and immune response. They have been shown to play an important role in various human diseases, including cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Targeted regulation of tsRNAs expression can affect the progression of CVDs. The tsRNAs induced by pathological conditions can be detected when released into the extracellular, giving them enormous potential as disease biomarkers. Here, we review the biogenesis, degradation process and related functional mechanisms of tsRNAs, and discuss the research progress and application prospects of tsRNAs in different CVDs, to provide a new perspective on the treatment of CVDs.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the diagnostic performance and interobserver agreement of quantitative CT parameters indicating strong lymph node (LN) enhancement in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), comparing them with qualitative analysis by radiologists of varying experience. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study included 463 LNs from 399 patients with DTC. Three radiologists independently analyzed strong LN enhancement on CT. Qualitative analysis of strong enhancement was defined as LN cortex showing greater enhancement than adjacent muscles on the arterial phase. Quantitative analysis included the mean attenuation value (MAV) of LN on arterial phase (LNA) and venous phase (LNV), LNA normalized to the common carotid artery (NAVCCA), internal jugular vein (NAVIJV), and sternocleidomastoid muscle (NAVSCM), attenuation difference [AD; (LNA - MAVSCM)], and relative washout ratio [((LNA - LNV)/LNA) × 100]. The interobserver agreement and diagnostic performance of the quantitative and qualitative analyses were evaluated. RESULTS: Interobserver agreement was excellent for all quantitative CT parameters (ICC, 0.83-0.94) and substantial for qualitative assessment (κ = 0.61). All CT parameters except for LNV showed good diagnostic performance for metastatic LNs (AUC, 0.81-0.85). NAVCCA (0.85, 95% CI: 0.8-0.9) and AD (0.85, 95% CI: 0.81-0.89) had the highest AUCs. All quantitative parameters except for NAVIJV had significantly higher AUCs than qualitative assessments by inexperienced radiologists, with no significant difference from assessments by an experienced radiologist. CONCLUSION: Quantitative assessment of LN enhancement on arterial phase CT showed higher interobserver agreement and AUC values than qualitative analysis by inexperienced radiologists, supporting the need for a standardized quantitative CT parameter-based model for determining strong LN enhancement. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: When assessing strong LN enhancement in DTC, quantitative CT parameters indicating strong enhancement can improve interobserver agreement, regardless of experience level. Therefore, the development of a standardized diagnostic model based on quantitative CT parameters might be necessary. KEY POINTS: Accurate preoperative assessment of LN metastasis in thyroid cancer is crucial. Quantitative CT parameters indicating strong LN enhancement demonstrated excellent interobserver agreement and good diagnostic performance. Quantitative assessment of contrast enhancement offers a more objective model for the identification of metastatic LNs.

Sex and chronological age estimation are crucial in forensic investigations and research on individual identification. Although manual methods for sex and age estimation have been proposed, these processes are labor-intensive, time-consuming, and error-prone. The purpose of this study was to estimate sex and chronological age from panoramic radiographs automatically and robustly using a multi-task deep learning network (ForensicNet). ForensicNet consists of a backbone and both sex and age attention branches to learn anatomical context features of sex and chronological age from panoramic radiographs and enables the multi-task estimation of sex and chronological age in an end-to-end manner. To mitigate bias in the data distribution, our dataset was built using 13,200 images with 100 images for each sex and age range of 15-80 years. The ForensicNet with EfficientNet-B3 exhibited superior estimation performance with mean absolute errors of 2.93 ± 2.61 years and a coefficient of determination of 0.957 for chronological age, and achieved accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity values of 0.992, 0.993, and 0.990, respectively, for sex prediction. The network demonstrated that the proposed sex and age attention branches with a convolutional block attention module significantly improved the estimation performance for both sex and chronological age from panoramic radiographs of elderly patients. Consequently, we expect that ForensicNet will contribute to the automatic and accurate estimation of both sex and chronological age from panoramic radiographs.

The transplantation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in stroke is hindered by the restricted rates of survival and differentiation. Ginsenoside compound K (CK), is reported to have a neuroprotective effect and regulate energy metabolism. We applied CK to investigate if CK could promote the survival of MSCs and differentiation into brain microvascular endothelial-like cells (BMECs), thereby alleviating stroke symptoms. Therefore, transwell and middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) models were used to mimic oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) in vitro and in vivo, respectively. Our results demonstrated that CK had a good affinity for GLUT1, which increased the expression of GLUT1 and the production of ATP, facilitated the proliferation and migration of MSCs, and activated the HIF-1α/VEGF signaling pathway to promote MSC differentiation. Moreover, CK cooperated with MSCs to protect BMECs, promote angiogenesis and vascular density, enhance neuronal and astrocytic proliferation, thereby reducing infarct volume and consequently improving neurobehavioral outcomes. These results suggest that the synergistic effects of CK and MSCs could potentially be a promising strategy for stroke.

INTRODUCTION: Aging is one of the risk factors for the early onset of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We previously discovered that the age-dependent increase in Ubiquitin Conjugating Enzyme E2 N (UBE2N) plays a role in the accumulation of misfolded proteins through K63 ubiquitination, which has been linked to AD pathogenesis. However, the impact of UBE2N on amyloid pathology and clearance has remained unknown. RESULTS: We observed the elevated UBE2N during the amyloid beta (Aß) generation in the brains of 5×FAD, APP/PS1 mice, and patients with AD, in comparison to healthy individuals. UBE2N overexpression exacerbated amyloid deposition in 5×FAD mice and senescent monkeys, whereas knocking down UBE2N via CRISPR/Cas9 reduced Aß generation and cognitive deficiency. Moreover, pharmacological inhibition of UBE2N ameliorated Aß pathology and subsequent transcript defects in 5×FAD mice. DISCUSSION: We have discovered that age-dependent expression of UBE2N is a critical regulator of AD pathology. Our findings suggest that UBE2N could serve as a potential pharmacological target for the advancement of AD therapeutics. HIGHLIGHTS: Ubiquitin Conjugating Enzyme E2 N (UBE2N) level was elevated during amyloid beta (Aß) deposition in AD mouse and patients' brains. UBE2N exacerbated Aß generation in the AD mouse and senescent monkey. Drug inhibition of UBE2N ameliorated Aß pathology and cognitive deficiency.

Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a prominent non-thermal ablation method widely employed in clinical settings for the focal ablation therapy of solid tumors. Utilizing high-voltage, short-duration electric pulses, IRE induces perforation defects in the cell membrane, leading to apoptotic cell death. Despite the promise of irreversible electroporation (IRE) in clinical applications, it faces challenges concerning the coverage of target tissues for ablation, particularly when compared to other thermal ablation therapies such as radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, and cryoablation. This study aims to investigate the induced hyperthermal effect of IRE by applying a polydopamine nanoparticle (Dopa NP) coating on the electrode. We hypothesize that the induced hyperthermal effect enhances the therapeutic efficacy of IRE for cancer ablation. First, we observed the hyperthermal effect of IRE using Dopa NP-coated electrodes in hydrogel phantom models and then moved to in vivo models. In particular, in in vivo animal studies, the IRE treatment of rabbit hepatic lobes with Dopa NP-coated electrodes exhibited a two-fold higher increase in temperature (ΔT) compared to non-coated electrodes. Through a comprehensive analysis, we found that IRE treatment with Dopa NP-coated electrodes displayed the typical histological signatures of hyperthermal ablation, including the disruption of the hepatic cord and lobular structure, as well as the infiltration of erythrocytes. These findings unequivocally highlight the combined efficacy of IRE with Dopa NPs for electroporation and the hyperthermal ablation of target cancer tissues.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential involvement of pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2), an enzyme acting as a rate-limiting enzyme in the final phase of glycolysis, in the regulation of glial activation and brain damage of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). METHODS: Western blotting and immunofluorescence were performed to investigate PKM2 expression, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase deoxyurinary triphosphate (dUTP) nick end labeling staining, hematoxylin and eosin staining, and behavioral tests were employed to evaluate the brain damage of ICH mice, and RNA-seq and bioinformatic analyses were performed to detect gene expression changes in ICH mice treated with TEPP-46. RESULTS: Increased PKM2 levels in perihematomal brain tissue were found starting from 3 days following ICH and peaked at 5 and 7 days post ICH. The increased expression of PKM2 was mainly co-localized with glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP)+ astrocytes and ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule-1 (IBA-1)+ microglia. Furthermore, we observed a notable increase in the nuclear translocation of PKM2 in glial cells following ICH. TEPP-46 treatment significantly reduced PKM2 nuclear translocation, and effectively attenuated glial activation and brain injury, and improved functional recovery of mice with ICH. RNA-seq data indicated that 91.1% (205/225) of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were down-regulated in the TEPP-46 treated groups compared with the vehicle-treated groups in ICH brains. Furthermore, bioinformatic analyses revealed that these down-regulated DEGs were involved in a variety of biological processes, including autophagy and metabolic processes. In addition, the majority of these downregulated DEGs had a primary high expression in neurons, with subsequent expression seen in endothelial cells, microglia, and astrocytes. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that increased PKM2 nuclear translocation promotes the activation of glial cells after ICH, hence aggravating ICH-induced brain damage, and aggravates the brain injury induced by ICH. This highlights a potential therapeutic target for inhibiting glial activation to attenuate brain injury after ICH.

Schistocytes are fragmented red blood cells produced as a result of mechanical damage to erythrocytes, usually due to microangiopathic thrombotic diseases or mechanical factors. The early laboratory detection of schistocytes has a critical impact on the timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and positive prognosis of diseases such as thrombocytopenic purpura and hemolytic uremic syndrome. Due to the rapid development of science and technology, laboratory hematology has also advanced. The accuracy and efficiency of tests performed by fully automated hematology analyzers and fully automated morphology analyzers have been considerably improved. In recent years, substantial improvements in computing power and machine learning (ML) algorithm development have dramatically extended the limits of the potential of autonomous machines. The rapid development of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) has led to the iteration and upgrade of automated detection of schistocytes. However, along with significantly facilitated operation processes, AI has brought challenges. This review summarizes the progress in laboratory schistocyte detection, the relationship between schistocytes and clinical diseases, and the progress of AI in the detection of schistocytes. In addition, current challenges and possible solutions are discussed, as well as the great potential of AI techniques for schistocyte testing in peripheral blood.

Global fashion brands have embraced size-inclusive advertising featuring plus-size models, yet the responses of Asian consumers to such advertising-where the average body size of women is smaller than in Western markets-have garnered little attention. This study, utilizing the S-O-R model, aimed to investigate whether the relationships among perceived actual and ideal self-congruence, perceived attractiveness and familiarity of a fashion model, and purchase intention vary based on the body size of the fashion model. We tested the hypothesized relationships using ANCOVA, confirmatory factor analysis, and multi-group structural equation modeling, analyzing 623 online survey responses from South Korean female consumers. Actual self-congruence had a greater influence on perceived familiarity in consumers exposed to a thin-sized model compared to those exposed to a plus-sized model. In contrast, ideal self-congruence had a more significant positive impact on the perceived physical attractiveness of the plus-size model than the thin-size model. Furthermore, the plus-size model's perceived physical attractiveness had a more significant positive effect on purchase intention than that of the thin-size model. This study highlights the importance of crafting advertising images that portray plus-size models as physically attractive to elicit favorable responses from Asian consumers.

Prior research on the relationship between the taste, aroma and drinking utensils of beverages tends to focus on topics such as alcohol, sparkling beverages, juice, coffee, and hot chocolate. There is limited research focused on the interdependence between the perception of teacups and the tea taste. The literature has not yet found any research covering the impact of visual shape and the tactile sensation of teacups on the perception of tea flavor. Therefore, this study proposed six hypotheses related to the teacup shape and texture, teacup preference and taste and smell of tea. This study involved experimental design and questionnaire data collection, using a convenience sampling method to recruit 102 participants voluntarily. The research results are: (1) Age and gender have an impact on the taste and aroma perception of tea; (2) The width, height, rim thickness and smoothness of the teacup surface do have an impact on the perception of taste and fragrance of tea. (3) The preference of teacup played an intermediary effect between tea taste and the shape and texture of teacup. The implications of these findings on the perception of tea flavor are discussed.

Combining exogenous and endogenous antibacterial mechanisms has been demonstrated to enhance therapeutic efficacy significantly. This study constructs an innovative type of exogenous and endogenous antibacterial nanocomposite hydrogels with injectable dual-crosslinked networks and dual-stimuli responsiveness. The primary network establishes imine bonds between the functionalized dextran featuring norbornenes and aldehydes (NorAld-Dex) and the quaternized chitosan (QCS). The imine bonds provide self-healing, injectability, and pH-responsiveness to the hydrogel network. The secondary network is established by integrating thiolated mesoporous silica-coated titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2@MS-SH) into the hydrogel network via an ultrasound-activated thiol-norbornene reaction with NorAld-Dex. The microstructures and properties of NorAld-Dex/QCS/TiO2@MS-SH hydrogels can be fine-tuned by adjusting the sonication time to increase the amount of thiol-norbornene crosslinks in the network. Effective antibacterial performance of NorAld-Dex/QCS/TiO2@MS-SH hydrogels at low pH has been demonstrated with the synergistic effect of the acid-induced dissociation of the hydrogel network, protonated QCS, and the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by TiO2@MS-SH nanoparticles under ultrasound irradiation. In summary, NorAld-Dex/QCS/TiO2@MS-SH nanocomposite hydrogel is an advanced dual stimuli-responsive antibacterial platform with customizable microstructures and properties, offering great potential for biomedical applications.

Traditional methods for algae removal in drinking water treatment, such as coagulation and sedimentation, face challenges due to the negative charge on algae cells' surfaces, resulting in ineffective removal. Ultrasonic cavitation has shown promise in enhancing coagulation performance by disrupting extracellular polymer structures and improving cyanobacteria removal through various mechanisms like shear force and free radical reactions. However, the short lifespan and limited mass transfer distance of free radicals in conventional ultrasonic treatment lead to high energy consumption, limiting widespread application. To overcome these limitations and enhance energy efficiency, advanced carbon-based materials were developed and tested. Nitrogen-doped functional groups on nanodiamond surfaces were found to boost sonosensitivity by increasing the production of reactive oxygen species at the sonosensitizer-water interface. Utilizing low-power ultrasound (0.12 W/mL) in combination with N-ND treatment for 5 min, removal rates of Microcystis aeruginosa cells in water exceeded 90 %, with enhanced removal of algal organic matters and microcystins in water. Visualization through confocal microscopy highlighted the role of positively charged nitrogen-doped nanodiamonds in aggregating algae cells. The synergy between cell capturing and catalysis of N-ND indicates that efficient mass transfer of free radicals from the sonosensitizer's surface to the microalgae's surface is critical for promoting cyanobacteria floc formation. This study underscores the potential of employing a low-intensity ultrasound and N-ND system in effectively improving algae removal in water treatment processes.

BACKGROUND: Relevant evidence suggests that angiogenic factors contribute significantly to fibril matrix reconstruction following physical injuries to tendon ligaments. Vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), with its potent angiogenic effect, has been studied extensively, and its functional polymorphisms, including rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963, have been the focus of numerous investigations. Some scholars have explored the association between gene polymorphisms in the VEGFA and the risk of tendon ligament injury, but the findings are not entirely consistent. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963 gene polymorphisms in VEGFA and the risk of tendon and ligament injuries. METHODS: After including articles about the association of VEGFA rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963 polymorphisms with tendon and ligament injuries according to the search strategy, we assessed their quality and conducted meta-analyses to examine the link between these polymorphisms and the risk of tendon and ligament injuries using odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS: Of 86 related articles, six were included in the meta-analysis. Some of these suggest an association between VEGFA rs2010963 and the risk of tendon and ligament injury in the population, with the specific C allele being one of the adverse factors for knee injury. Some studies suggest that VEGFA rs699947 and VEGFA rs1570360 single-nucleotide polymorphisms are associated with anterior cruciate ligament rupture. The risk of non-contact anterior cruciate ligament rupture is nearly doubled in individuals with the rs699947 CC genotype compared to the control group. Our analysis did not find any significant relationship between VEGFA gene polymorphisms (rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963) and the chance of tendon and ligament injury without consideration of race. However, the European population reveals that the CC genotype of VEGFA rs699947 can result in a greater risk of tendon and ligament injury, whereas the AG genotype for rs1570360 provides some protection. Additionally, rs2010963 was significantly associated with tendon and ligament injury; individuals with the C allele and the CC genotype had higher risk. False-positive report probability confirmed the high credibility of our results. CONCLUSION: Overall, this study found no significant association between VEGFA rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963 polymorphisms and the risk of tendon ligament injury. However, in subgroup analysis, some genotypes of VEGFA rs699947, rs1570360, and rs2010963 were found to increase the risk of tendon ligament injury in European populations.

Moisture-electric generators (MEGs) has emerged as promising green technology to achieve carbon neutrality in next-generation energy suppliers, especially combined with ecofriendly materials. Hitherto, challenges remain for MEGs as direct power source in practical applications due to low and intermittent electric output. Here we design a green MEG with high direct-current electricity by introducing polyvinyl alcohol-sodium alginate-based supramolecular hydrogel as active material. A single unit can generate an improved power density of ca. 0.11 mW cm-2, a milliamp-scale short-circuit current density of ca. 1.31 mA cm-2 and an open-circuit voltage of ca. 1.30 V. Such excellent electricity is mainly attributed to enhanced moisture absorption and remained water gradient to initiate ample ions transport within hydrogel by theoretical calculation and experiments. Notably, an enlarged current of ca. 65 mA is achieved by a parallel-integrated MEG bank. The scalable MEGs can directly power many commercial electronics in real-life scenarios, such as charging smart watch, illuminating a household bulb, driving a digital clock for one month. This work provides new insight into constructing green, high-performance and scalable energy source for Internet-of-Things and wearable applications.

This study aimed to determine the correlation of the parameters that indicate the status of the ocular surface with the prognosis of corneal opacification. Fifty dogs (96 eyes) were examined using a grid-line illuminator (non-invasive tear film break-up time (NIBUT)). Thirty dogs (54 eyes) were included in the final analysis based on the criteria. The NIBUT and tear film break-up time (TFBUT) results of the eyes included in the study were divided into three groups: Group 1 (< 5 s), Group 2 (5 to <10 s), and Group 3 (≥ 10 s). The Schirmer's tear Test 1 (STT-1) results of the included patients were also divided into three groups: Group 1 (< 5 mm/min), Group 2 (5 to <10 mm/min), and Group 3 (≥ 10 mm/min). The corneal opacity grades are divided into four scores, ranging from 0 to 3. The corneal opacity grade score (COS) of 0 indicates a completely clear cornea or only a trace of opacity. COS of 1, 2, 3 indicate the presence of a prominent corneal opacity that does not interfere with the visualization of the fine iris details, the opacity obscures the visibility of the iris and lens details and severe obstruction of the intraocular structure visibility, respectively. The mean difference in COS during the follow-ups for each group of NIBUT were 0.61 ± 0.92 (n = 28), 0.10 ± 0.32 (n = 10), 0.19 ± 0.40 (n = 16). The NIBUT groups were significantly correlated with COS (p-value = 0.073) at a 10% level of significance. Post-hoc test at a 10% level of significance revealed significant correlations between Groups 1 and 2 (p-value = 0.041) and between Groups 1 and 3 (p-value 0.104). Although the TFBUT and STT-1 groups did not show any significant correlation with COS. Eyes with NIBUT of <5 s were found to have a significantly higher chance of increased COS compared with eyes with NIBUT of >5 s in the grid-line illumination plate NIBUT test. Among NIBUT, STT-1, and TFBUT, NIBUT was the only test that showed significant associations with the changes in COS.
