This study aimed to investigate the aging of the glymphatic system in healthy adults, and to determine whether this change is correlated with the brain charts and neuropsychological functioning. Two independent brain 3.0 T MRI datasets were analyzed: a public dataset and our hospital-own dataset from two hospitals. The function of the glymphatic system was quantified by diffusion analysis along the perivascular space (ALPS) index via an automatic method. Brain charts were calculated online. Correlations of the ALPS index with the brain charts, age, gender, and neuropsychological functioning, as well as differences in ALPS index across age groups, were assessed. A total of 161 healthy volunteers ranging in age from 20 to 87 years were included. ALPS index was negatively correlated with the age in both independent datasets. Compared with that of the young group, the ALPS index was significantly lower in the elderly group. No significant difference was found in the ALPS index between different genders. In addition, the ALPS index was not significantly correlated with the brain charts and neuropsychological functioning. In conclusion, the aging of glymphatic system exists in healthy adults, which is not correlated with the changes of brain charts and neuropsychological functioning.

RESUMO

Skin is the largest organ in the human body and requires proper dressing to facilitate healing after an injury. Wounds on movable parts, such as the elbow, knee, wrist, and neck, usually undergo delayed and inefficient healing due to frequent movements. To better accommodate movable wounds, a variety of functional hydrogels have been successfully developed and used as flexible wound dressings. On the one hand, the mechanical properties, such as adhesion, stretchability, and self-healing, make these hydrogels suitable for mobile wounds and promote the healing process; on the other hand, the bioactivities, such as antibacterial and antioxidant performance, could further accelerate the wound healing process. In this review, we focus on the recent advances in hydrogel-based movable wound dressings and propose the challenges and perspectives of such dressings.

Nuclear factor of activated T cells 5 (NFAT5) and cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2; PTGS2) both participate in diverse pathologies including cancer progression. However, the biological role of the NFAT5-COX2 signaling pathway in human endometrial cancer has remained elusive. The present study explored whether NFAT5 is expressed in endometrial tumors and if NFAT5 participates in cancer progression. To gain insights into the underlying mechanisms, NFAT5 protein abundance in endometrial cancer tissue was visualized by immunohistochemistry and endometrial cancer cells (Ishikawa and HEC1a) were transfected with NFAT5 or with an empty plasmid. As a result, NFAT5 expression is more abundant in high-grade than in low-grade endometrial cancer tissue. RNA sequencing analysis of NFAT5 overexpression in Ishikawa cells upregulated 37 genes and downregulated 20 genes. Genes affected included cyclooxygenase 2 and hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF1A). NFAT5 transfection and/or treatment with HIF-1α stabilizer exerted a strong stimulating effect on HIF-1α promoter activity as well as COX2 expression level and prostaglandin E2 receptor (PGE2) levels. Our findings suggest that activation of NFAT5-HIF-1α-COX2 axis could promote endometrial cancer progression.

AIMS: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of self-management behaviour and illness perceptions and to examine illness perceptions in relation to self-management behaviour in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 152 elderly COPD patients were recruited via the convenience sampling method. The COPD Self-Management Scale and the Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire for COPD patients were used to examine self-management behaviour and illness perceptions. Pearson correlation analysis, univariate analysis and hierarchical linear regression analysis were used to explore illness perceptions in relation to self-management behaviour. RESULTS: The mean overall score for self-management behaviour was 2.90 ± 0.39. Among the subscales of self-management behaviour, information management had the lowest score of 2.20 ± 0.76. Patients' demographic and clinical characteristics, including educational level, smoking status, type of primary caregiver, home oxygen therapy and COPD duration, were found to be significant determinants of self-management behaviour. After controlling for these variables, several illness perception subscales, including treatment control, personal control, coherence, timeline cyclical and identity, were significantly correlated with self-management behaviour. CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed that elderly COPD patients' self-management behaviour was unsatisfactory and that illness perceptions were significant determinants of self-management behaviour. The findings may contribute to the development of self-management interventions for elderly COPD patients.

RESUMO

Glia are integral components of neural networks and are crucial in both physiological functions and pathological processes of the brain. Many brain diseases involve glial abnormalities, including inflammatory changes, mitochondrial damage, calcium signaling disturbance, hemichannel opening, and loss of glutamate transporters. Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived glia provide opportunities to study the contributions of glia in human brain diseases. These cells have been used for human disease modeling as well as generating new therapies. This chapter introduces glial involvement in brain diseases, then summarizes different methods of generating iPSC-derived glia disease models of these cells. Finally, strategies for treating disease using iPSC-derived glia are discussed. The goal of this chapter is to provide an overview and shed light on the applications of iPSC-derived glia in brain disease research and treatment.

Among the many impacts of COVID-19, the pandemic led to improved air quality conditions in the countries under quarantine due to the shutdown of industries, drastically reduced traffic, and lockdowns. Meanwhile, the western United States, particularly the coastal areas from Washington to California, received much less precipitation than normal during early 2020. Is it possible that this reduction in precipitation was driven by the reduced aerosols due to the coronavirus? Here we show that the reduction in aerosols resulted in higher temperatures (up to ∼0.5 °C) and generally lower snow amounts but cannot explain the observed low precipitation amounts over this region. In addition to an assessment of the effects of the coronavirus-related reduction in aerosols on precipitation across the western United States, our findings also provide basic information on the potential impacts different mitigation efforts aimed at reducing anthropogenic aerosols would have on the regional climate.

BACKGROUND: Cognitive impairment is one of the primary sequelae affecting the quality of life of patients with Japanese encephalitis (JE). The clinical treatment is mainly focused on life support, lacking of targeted treatment strategy. METHODS: A cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteomic profiling study was performed including 26 patients with JE in Gansu province of China from June 2017 to October 2018 and 33 other concurrent hospitalized patients who were excluded central nervous system (CNS) organic or CNS infection diseases. The clinical and proteomics data of patients with JE were undergoing combined analysis for the first time. RESULTS: Two subtypes of JE associated with significantly different prognoses were identified. Compared to JE1, the JE2 subtype is associated with lower overall survival rate and a higher risk of cognitive impairment. The percentages of neutrophils (N%), lymphocyte (L%), and monocytes (M%) decreased in JE2 significantly. CONCLUSIONS: The differences in proteomic landscape between JE subgroups have specificity for the prognosis of cognitive impairment. The data also provided some potential target proteins for treatment of cognitive impairments caused by JE. Trial registration ChiCTR, ChiCTR2000030499. Reinforcement learning (RL) is applied to improve the performance of the polarization modulator (PolM)-based W-band radio-over-fiber (RoF) system in this Letter. By controlling the polarization angle of the dual-wavelength laser source in the PolM-based scheme, the RF response can be easily modified and therefore it hugely increases the available bandwidth in the RoF system. In the proposed RL scheme, the state is described as the value of the angle from the polarization controller (PC). We use changing the angle of the polarizer (P) as the actions of the RL agent to optimize the frequency response. The agent also receives a reward from the system and learns from the environment and previous experience. Moreover, the reward is the value of error vector magnitude at each state. Therefore, the proposed scheme of RL is implemented and demonstrated in a multi-channel RoF system, and the results show that an RL agent provides an effective intelligent technique to obtain the best quality of data transmission.

INTRODUCTION: Improving the early prediction of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) efficacy in breast cancer can lead to an improved prediction of the final prognosis of patients, which would be useful for promoting individualized treatment. This study aimed to explore the value of the combination of dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI parameters and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in the early prediction of pathological complete response (pCR) to NAC for breast cancer. METHODS: A total of 119 (range, 28-69 years) patients with biopsy-proven breast cancer who received two cycles of NAC before breast surgery were retrospectively enrolled from our hospital database. Patients were divided into pCR and non pCR groups according to their pathological responses; a total of 24 patients achieved pCR, while 95 did not. The quantitative (Ktrans; Kep; Ve; IAUC) and semiquantitative parameters (W-in; W-out; TTP) of DCE-MRI that were significantly different between groups were combined with ADC values to explore their value in the early prediction of pCR to NAC for breast cancer. The independent T test was performed to compare the differences in DCE-MRI parameters and ADC values between the two groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were plotted, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC), sensitivity and specificity were calculated to evaluate the performance of the prediction. RESULTS: The Ktrans, Kep, IAUC, ADC, W-in and TTP values were significantly different between the pCR and non pCR groups after NAC. The AUC (0.845) and specificity (95.79%) of the combined Ktrans, Kep, IAUC and ADC values were both higher than those of the individual parameters. The combination of W-in, TTP and ADC values had the highest AUC value (0.886) in predicting pCR, with a sensitivity and specificity of 87.5% and 82.11%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggested that the combination of ADC values and quantitative and semiquantitative DCE-MRI parameters, especially the combination of W-in, TTP, and ADC values, may improve the early prediction of pCR in breast cancer.

BACKGROUND: Readout-segmented echo-planar diffusion-weighted imaging (RS-EPI) can improve image quality and signal-to-noise ratio, the resulting apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value acts as a more sensitive biomarker to characterize tumors. However, data regarding the differentiation of breast cancer (BC) receptor statuses using RS-EPI are limited. PURPOSE: To determine whether RS-EPI improves the differentiation of receptor statuses compared with conventional single-shot (SS) EPI in breast MRI. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. POPULATION: A total of 151 BC women with the mean age of 50.6 years. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: A 3 T/ RS-EPI and SS-EPI. ASSESSMENT: The ADCs of the lesion and normal background tissue from the two sequences were collected by two radiologists with 15 years of experience working of breast MRI (M.H.Z. and X.F.C.), and a normalized ADC was calculated by dividing the mean ADC value of the lesion by the mean ADC value of the normal background tissue. STATISTICAL TESTS: Agreement between the ADC measurements from the two sequences was assessed using the Pearson correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman plots. One-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test, and median difference were used to compare the ADC measurements for all lesions and different receptor statuses. A P value less than 0.05 indicated a significant result. RESULTS: The ADC measurements of all lesions and normal background tissues were significantly higher on RS-EPI than on SS-EPI (1.82 ± 0.33 vs. 1.55 ± 0.30 and 0.83 ± 0.11 vs. 0.79 ± 0.10). The normalized ADC was lower on RS-EPI than on SS-EPI (0.47 ± 0.11 vs. 0.53 ± 0.12, a median difference of -0.04 [95% CI: -0.256 to 0.111]). For both diffusion methods, only the ADC measurement of RS-EPI was higher for human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2)-positive tumors than for HER-2-negative tumors (0.87 ± 0.10 vs. 0.81 ± 0.11), and this measurement was associated with HER-2 positive status (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 654.4); however, similar results were not observed for the ADC measurement of SS-EPI (0.80 ± 0.10 vs. 0.78 ± 0.11 with P = 0.199 and adjusted OR = 0.21 with P = 0.464, respectively). DATA CONCLUSION: RS-EPI can improve the distinction between HER-2-positive and HER-2-negative breast cancer, complementing the clinical application of diffusion imaging. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 3 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 1.

OBJECTIVES: Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a neglected parasitic zoonotic disease caused by the larval stage of the tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus (E. granulosus). This study aimed to understand the clinical characteristics of human CE in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (NHAR) located in northwest China and to investigate the antibody profiles against the recombinant E. granulosus antigen P29 (rEg.P29) in plasma of CE patients. METHODS: A total of 37 human CE patients, along with 37 healthy donors enrolled in this study and demographic and clinical data were analyzed, including age, gender, laboratory data, symptoms, and cysts description. Plasma levels of cytokines, total IgG, and total IgE were determined by sandwich ELISA kits. Specific antibodies against rEg.P29 and hydatid cyst fluid (HCF) were assessed by indirect ELISA. RESULTS: The results revealed that females have a higher percentage of CE patients than males. The incidence of CE reached a peak in the 41-50 years-old group. The liver was the most frequent location, accounting for 91.9%. Based on the CT images, cysts of 34 patients who had liver involvement, were classified as 1 (2.9%) CE1, 12 (35.3%) CE2, 5 (14.7%) CE3a, 1 (2.9%) CE3b, and 15 (44.2%) CE5. Twenty-nine (78.4%) patients had a single cyst and 8 (21.6%) had at least two cysts. The most frequently reported symptom was upper abdominal pain. The plasma level of IL-6 and total IgE were significantly increased in CE patients compared with healthy donors. Additionally, IgG response to rEg.P29 in CE patients was significantly higher than in healthy donors, and the dominant IgG subclass was IgG4. Further analysis of different patient groups revealed that rEg.P29-specific IgG and IgG4 were only elevated in CE patients with CE2 type cysts. CONCLUSIONS: This study systematically investigated the clinical characteristics of patients with CE and may provide a reference basis for the diagnosis and treatment of CE in NHAR. Furthermore, tests of specific IgG and IgG4 against rEg.P29 can be used as an assisted method for imaging techniques to identify cystic activity and determine the best therapeutic approach for CE.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: The efficacy of physiotherapy for postpartum lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) has attracted considerable research interest. In the current study we evaluated the efficacy and safety of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) combined with biofeedback (BF), electrical stimulation (ES) therapy, or both for postpartum LUTS. METHODS: PUBMED, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Science and Technique Journals Database, and Wanfang databases were searched from inception to December 2020. Eligible randomized controlled trials on postpartum LUTS comparing PFMT plus BF, ES, or both with PFMT alone were included. The Cochrane handbook was used to evaluate the quality of the studies. RESULTS: Seventeen studies were included. The results of the meta-analysis showed that PFMT plus ES with or without BF was more effective than PFMT alone. Patients receiving PFMT plus ES and BF achieved greater improvement than controls receiving PFMT alone in incontinence quality of life scores (mean difference: 15.33, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 11.70-18.97, P < 0.00001), pelvic floor muscle strength (risk ratio: 2.29, 95% CI: 1.53-3.43, P < 0.0001), and urodynamic parameters (maximum urethral closure pressure, abdominal leak point pressure, and maximum urinary flow rate), and 1-h urine leakage (standardized mean difference: -0.70, 95% CI: -1.23 to -0.17, P = 0.010) also decreased. CONCLUSIONS: PFMT plus ES with or without BF exhibited better efficacy and safety for early postpartum LUTS than PFMT alone.

The instability of international trade can threaten the resource security of resource-importing countries, while international trade helps address spatial mismatches between regional populations, economies, and resources. Ecological products are the basis for human survival and development, in which agri-livestock products are especially sensitive to trade fluctuation and closely related to human well-being. The external dependence is an important indicator to reveal the external supply risk of regional resources. Scientific understanding the external dependence of ecological products can reveal the potential risks of trade fluctuations to human well-being and ecological sustainability. In this study, the global status and trend of countries' external dependence of agri-livestock ecological products are investigated. The results showed that nearly 80% (141) of countries relied on imports to meet ecological product demands in 2018, in which Asian-African-Latin countries accounted for about 78%, which indicated that the instability of international trade would threaten the ecological resource security in 80% of the world's countries, especially for underdeveloped countries. Even worse, 68% of countries are increasing their external dependence of ecological products. Even if the intensity of ecological resource exploitation reaches the maximum sustainable utilization level, 60% (113) of countries are expected to need imports for meeting their ecological product demands in 2050. Moreover, even considering the agricultural technological upgrade and the consumption transformation, more than 50% (94) of countries are still net importers of ecological products. Therefore, trade liberalization is still one of the important means to reduce resource security risks caused by trade instability. More notably, half of the countries in the world may sacrifice ecological sustainability to meet basic human well-being in the future under deglobalization.

An efficient nano-Cu2O-catalyzed cascade multicomponent reaction of 2-halobenzoic acids and trimethylsilyl cyanide with diverse amines was developed using water as a solvent, affording versatile N-substituted phthalimide derivatives in moderate to excellent yields. This novel strategy features carbon monoxide gas-free, environmentally benign, one-pot multistep transformation, commercially available reagents, a cheap catalyst without any additives, wide functional group tolerance, and operational convenience.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the CT imaging and clinical features of three atypical presentations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), namely (1) asymptomatic, (2) CT imaging-negative, and (3) re-detectable positive (RP), during all disease stages. METHODS: A consecutive cohort of 79 COVID-19 patients was retrospectively recruited from five independent institutions. For each presentation type, all patients were classified into atypical vs. typical groups (i.e., asymptomatic vs.symptomatic, CT imaging-negative vs. CT imaging-positive, and RP and non-RP,respectively). The chi-square test, Student's t test, and Kruskal-Wallis H test were performed to compare CT imaging and clinical features of atypical vs. typical patients for all three presentation categories. RESULTS: In our COVID-19 cohort, we found 12.7% asymptomatic patients, 13.9% CT imaging-negative patients, and 8.9% RP patients. The asymptomatic patients had fewer hospitalization days (P=0.043), lower total scores for bilateral lung involvement (P< 0.001), and fewer ground-glass opacities (GGOs) in the peripheral area (P< 0.001) than symptomatic patients. The CT imaging-negative patients were younger (P=0.002), had a higher lymphocyte count (P=0.038), had a higher lymphocyte rate (P=0.008), and had more asymptomatic infections (P=0.002) than the CT imaging-positive patients. The RP patients with moderate COVID-19 had lower total scores of for bilateral lung involvement (P=0.030) and a smaller portion of the left lung affected (P=0.024) than non-RP patients. Compared to their first hospitalization, RP patients had a shorter hospitalization period (P< 0.001) and fewer days from the onset of illness to last RNA negative conversion (P< 0.001) at readmission. CONCLUSIONS: Significant CT imaging and clinical feature differences were found between atypical and typical COVID-19 patients for all three atypical presentation categories investigated in this study, which may help provide complementary information for the effective management of COVID-19.

OBJECTIVES: Rapid and accurate diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is critical during the epidemic. We aim to identify differences in CT imaging and clinical manifestations between pneumonia patients with and without COVID-19, and to develop and validate a diagnostic model for COVID-19 based on radiological semantic and clinical features alone. METHODS: A consecutive cohort of 70 COVID-19 and 66 non-COVID-19 pneumonia patients were retrospectively recruited from five institutions. Patients were divided into primary (n = 98) and validation (n = 38) cohorts. The chi-square test, Student's t test, and Kruskal-Wallis H test were performed, comparing 1745 lesions and 67 features in the two groups. Three models were constructed using radiological semantic and clinical features through multivariate logistic regression. Diagnostic efficacies of developed models were quantified by receiver operating characteristic curve. Clinical usage was evaluated by decision curve analysis and nomogram. RESULTS: Eighteen radiological semantic features and seventeen clinical features were identified to be significantly different. Besides ground-glass opacities (p = 0.032) and consolidation (p = 0.001) in the lung periphery, the lesion size (1-3 cm) is also significant for the diagnosis of COVID-19 (p = 0.027). Lung score presents no significant difference (p = 0.417). Three diagnostic models achieved an area under the curve value as high as 0.986 (95% CI 0.966~1.000). The clinical and radiological semantic models provided a better diagnostic performance and more considerable net benefits. CONCLUSIONS: Based on CT imaging and clinical manifestations alone, the pneumonia patients with and without COVID-19 can be distinguished. A model composed of radiological semantic and clinical features has an excellent performance for the diagnosis of COVID-19. KEY POINTS: • Based on CT imaging and clinical manifestations alone, the pneumonia patients with and without COVID-19 can be distinguished. • A diagnostic model for COVID-19 was developed and validated using radiological semantic and clinical features, which had an area under the curve value of 0.986 (95% CI 0.966~1.000) and 0.936 (95% CI 0.866~1.000) in the primary and validation cohorts, respectively.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to develop a nomogrom for prediction of pathological complete response (PCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. METHODS: Ninety-one patients were analyzed. A total of 396 radiomics features were extracted from dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator was selected for data dimension reduction to build a radiomics signature. Finally, the nomogram was built to predict PCR. RESULTS: The radiomics signature of the model that combined DCE-MRI and ADC maps showed a higher performance (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC], 0.848) than the models with DCE-MRI (AUC, 0.750) or ADC maps (AUC, 0.785) alone in the training set. The proposed model, which included combined radiomics signature, estrogen receptor, and progesterone receptor, yielded a maximum AUC of 0.837 in the testing set. CONCLUSIONS: The combined radiomics features from DCE-MRI and ADC data may serve as potential predictor markers for predicting PCR. The nomogram could be used as a quantitative tool to predict PCR.

The ability of the brain to predict future events based on the pattern of recent sensory experience is critical for guiding animal's behavior. Neocortical circuits for ongoing processing of sensory stimuli are extensively studied, but their contributions to the anticipation of upcoming sensory stimuli remain less understood. We, therefore, used in vivo cellular imaging and fiber photometry to record mouse primary auditory cortex to elucidate its role in processing anticipated stimulation. We found neuronal ensembles in layers 2/3, 4, and 5 which were activated in relationship to anticipated sound events following rhythmic stimulation. These neuronal activities correlated with the occurrence of anticipatory motor responses in an auditory learning task. Optogenetic manipulation experiments revealed an essential role of such neuronal activities in producing the anticipatory behavior. These results strongly suggest that the neural circuits of primary sensory cortex are critical for coding predictive information and transforming it into anticipatory motor behavior.

Glial precursor transplantation provides a potential therapy for brain disorders. Before its clinical application, experimental evidence needs to indicate that engrafted glial cells are functionally incorporated into the existing circuits and become essential partners of neurons for executing fundamental brain functions. While previous experiments supporting for their functional integration have been obtained under in vitro conditions using slice preparations, in vivo evidence for such integration is still lacking. Here, we utilized in vivo two-photon Ca(2+) imaging along with immunohistochemistry, fluorescent indicator labeling-based axon tracing and correlated light/electron microscopy to analyze the profiles and the functional status of glial precursor cell-derived astrocytes in adult mouse neocortex. We show that after being transplanted into somatosensory cortex, precursor-derived astrocytes are able to survive for more than a year and respond with Ca(2+) signals to sensory stimulation. These sensory-evoked responses are mediated by functionally-expressed nicotinic receptors and newly-established synaptic contacts with the host cholinergic afferents. Our results provide in vivo evidence for a functional integration of transplanted astrocytes into adult mammalian neocortex, representing a proof-of-principle for sensory cortex remodeling through addition of essential neural elements. Moreover, we provide strong support for the use of glial precursor transplantation to understand glia-related neural development in vivo.

BACKGROUND This study was conducted to compare the clinical effects of two techniques used for inflow occlusion during hepatectomy (selective hemihepatic vascular occlusion vs. Pringle maneuver) for the treatment of primary liver cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 63 patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma who underwent hepatectomy during June 2006 and June 2011 were included in this retrospective study. A total of 26 patients in group A accepted selective hemihepatic vascular occlusion, and 37 patients in group B underwent the Pringle maneuver during hepatectomy. The intraoperative conditions, postoperative liver function recovery, and complication rates were compared between these two groups. RESULTS There were no significant differences in intraoperative blood loss, blood transfusion, occlusion time, and postoperative complication rates between group A and group B (P>0.05). However, postoperative serum levels of alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), total bilirubin (TBIL), and albumin (ALB) in group A were significantly lower than those in group B (P<0.05). Moreover, there were noteworthy differences in peripheral artery pressure and sphygmus (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS During hepatectomy, selective hemihepatic vascular occlusion benefits the patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma by reducing the hepatic damage and improving postoperative hepatic function recovery, compared with the Pringle maneuver.
