RESUMO

Baler-wrappers are machines designed to produce high-quality forage, in accordance with the requirements of sustainable agriculture. Their complicated structure, and significant loads occurring during operation, prompted the creation of systems for controlling the machines' processes and measuring the most important work parameters, in this work. The compaction control system is based on a signal from the force sensors. It allows for detection differences in the compression of the bale and additionally protects against overload. The method of measuring the swath size, with the use of a 3D camera, was presented. Scanning the surface and travelled distance allows for estimating the volume of the collected material-making it possible to create yield maps (precision farming). It is also used to vary the dosage of ensilage agents, that control the fodder formation process, in relation to the moisture and temperature of the material. The paper also deals with the issue of measuring the weight of the bales-securing the machine against overload and collecting data for planning the bales' transport. The machine, equipped with the above-mentioned systems, allows for safer and more efficient work, and provides information about the state of the crop in relation to a geographical position, which allows for further inferences.

We present the measurements of the photoionization cross sections of the excited 1P1 and 3S1 states of ultracold 88Sr atoms at 389.889 nm wavelength, which is the magic wavelength of the 1S0-3P0 clock transition. The photoionization cross section of the 1P1 state is determined from the measured ionization rates of 88Sr in the magneto-optical trap in the 1P1 state to be 2.20(50)×10-20 m2, while the photoionization cross section of 88Sr in the 3S1 state is inferred from the photoionization-induced reduction in the number of atoms transferred through the 3S1 state in an operating optical lattice clock to be 1.38(66) ×10-18 m2. Furthermore, the resulting limitations of employing a blue-detuned magic wavelength optical lattice in strontium optical lattice clocks are evaluated. We estimated photoionization induced loss rates of atoms at 389.889 nm wavelength under typical experimental conditions and made several suggestions on how to mitigate these losses. In particular, the large photoionization induced losses for the 3S1 state would make the use of the 3S1 state in the optical cycle in a blue-detuned optical lattice unfeasible and would instead require the less commonly used 3D1,2 states during the detection part of the optical clock cycle.

We have identified magic wavelengths for 1S0 ↔ 3P1,2 (mJ = 0) transitions and zero-magic wavelengths for the 3P1,2 (mJ = 0) states of 200Hg atoms, analysed the robustness of the magic conditions with respect to wavelength and polarization imperfections. We show that the most experimentally feasible magic wavelength for the 1S0 ↔ 3P2 transition is 351.8 nm of π polarized light. Relevant transition wavelengths and transition strengths are calculated using the state-of-the-art Complete Active Space Self-Consistent-Field (CASSCF) method with a perturbative inclusion of spin-orbit coupling. The transition wavelengths are a posteriori corrected for the dynamical energy using the second-order perturbation theory.

We report the measurement of the absolute frequencies of the 6s2 1S0-6s6p 3P1 transition (253.7 nm) and the relevant isotope shifts in five mercury isotopes  198Hg,  199Hg,  200Hg,  202Hg, and  204Hg. The Doppler-free saturated absorption measurements were performed in an atomic vapour cell at room temperature with a four-harmonic generated (FHG) continuous-wave (cw) laser digitally locked to the atomic transition. It was referenced with a femtosecond optical frequency comb synchronized to the frequency of local representation of the International Atomic Time to provide traceability to the SI second by the 330 km-long stabilized fibre optical link. The transition frequencies and isotope shifts have been determined with an accuracy of a few hundred kHz, at least one order of magnitude better than any previous measurement. By making a King plot with the isotope shifts of 6s6p 3P2-6s7s 3S1 transition (546 nm) we determined the accurate value of the ratio of the electronic field-shift parameters E546/E254 and estimated the electronic field-shift term E254.

We present a two-species laser cooling apparatus capable of simultaneously collecting Rb and Hg atomic gases into a magneto-optical trap (MOT). The atomic sources, laser system, and vacuum set-up are described. While there is a loss of Rb atoms in the MOT due to photoionization by the Hg cooling laser, we show that it does not prevent simultaneous trapping of Rb and Hg. We also demonstrate interspecies collision-induced losses in the 87Rb-202Hg system.

We explore a cavity-enhanced spectroscopic technique based on determination of the absorbtion coefficient from direct measurement of spectral width of the mode of the optical cavity filled with absorbing medium. This technique called here the cavity mode-width spectroscopy (CMWS) is complementary to the cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS). While both these techniques use information on interaction time of the light with the cavity to determine absorption coefficient, the CMWS does not require to measure very fast signals at high absorption conditions. Instead the CMWS method require a very narrow line width laser with precise frequency control. As an example a spectral line shape of P7 Q6 O2 line from the B-band was measured with use of an ultra narrow laser system based on two phase-locked external cavity diode lasers (ECDL) having tunability of ± 20 GHz at wavelength range of 687 to 693 nm.

RESUMO

We report the absolute frequency measurements of rubidium 5S-7S two-photon transitions with a cw laser digitally locked to an atomic transition and referenced to an optical frequency comb. The narrow, two-photon transition, 5S-7S (760 nm), insensitive to first-order in a magnetic field, is a promising candidate for frequency reference. The performed tests yielded more accurate transition frequencies than previously reported.

Despite clear technical superiority of genome sequencing (GS) over other diagnostic methods such as exome sequencing (ES), few studies are available regarding the advantages of its clinical application. We analyzed 1007 consecutive index cases for whom GS was performed in a diagnostic setting over a 2-year period. We reported pathogenic and likely pathogenic (P/LP) variants that explain the patients' phenotype in 212 of the 1007 cases (21.1%). In 245 additional cases (24.3%), a variant of unknown significance (VUS) related to the phenotype was reported. We especially investigated patients which had had ES with no genetic diagnosis (n = 358). For this group, GS diagnostic yield was 14.5% (52 patients with P/LP out of 358). GS should be especially indicated for ES-negative cases since up to 29.6% of them  could benefit from GS testing (14.5% with P/LP, n = 52 and 15.1% with VUS, n = 54). Genetic diagnoses in most of the ES-negative/GS-positive cases were determined by technical superiority of GS, i.e., access to noncoding regions and more uniform coverage. Importantly, we reported 79 noncoding variants, of which, 41 variants were classified as P/LP. Interpretation of noncoding variants remains challenging, and in many cases, complementary methods based on direct enzyme assessment, biomarker testing and RNA analysis are needed for variant classification and diagnosis. We present the largest cohort of patients with GS performed in a clinical setting to date. The results of this study should direct the decision for GS as standard second-line, or even first-line stand-alone test.

We report a stability below 7 × 10(-17) of two independent optical lattice clocks operating with bosonic (88)Sr isotope. The value (429 228 066 418 008.3(1.9)(syst) (0.9)(stat) Hz) of the absolute frequency of the (1)S(0) - (3)P(0) transition was measured with an optical frequency comb referenced to the local representation of the UTC by the 330 km-long stabilized fibre optical link. The result was verified by series of measurements on two independent optical lattice clocks and agrees with recommendation of Bureau International des Poids et Mesures.

We report on the observation of a dc Stark frequency shift at the 10-(13) level by comparing two strontium optical lattice clocks. This frequency shift arises from the presence of electric charges trapped on dielectric surfaces placed under vacuum close to the atomic sample. We show that these charges can be eliminated by shining UV light on the dielectric surfaces, and characterize the residual dc Stark frequency shift on the clock transition at the 10-(18) level by applying an external electric field. This study shows that the dc Stark shift can play an important role in the accuracy budget of lattice clocks, and should be duly taken into account.
