Wearable electronics with great breathability enable a comfortable wearing experience and facilitate continuous biosignal monitoring over extended periods1-3. However, current research on permeable electronics is predominantly at the stage of electrode and substrate development, which is far behind practical applications with comprehensive integration with diverse electronic components (for example, circuitry, electronics, encapsulation)4-8. Achieving permeability and multifunctionality in a singular, integrated wearable electronic system remains a formidable challenge. Here we present a general strategy for integrated moisture-permeable wearable electronics based on three-dimensional liquid diode (3D LD) configurations. By constructing spatially heterogeneous wettability, the 3D LD unidirectionally self-pumps the sweat from the skin to the outlet at a maximum flow rate of 11.6 ml cm-2 min-1, 4,000 times greater than the physiological sweat rate during exercise, presenting exceptional skin-friendliness, user comfort and stable signal-reading behaviour even under sweating conditions. A detachable design incorporating a replaceable vapour/sweat-discharging substrate enables the reuse of soft circuitry/electronics, increasing its sustainability and cost-effectiveness. We demonstrated this fundamental technology in both advanced skin-integrated electronics and textile-integrated electronics, highlighting its potential for scalable, user-friendly wearable devices.

It is generally believed that long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are associated with massive star core collapse1, whereas short-duration GRBs are associated with mergers of compact star binaries2. However, growing observations3-6 have suggested that oddball GRBs do exist, and several criteria (prompt emission properties, supernova/kilonova associations and host galaxy properties) rather than burst duration only are needed to classify GRBs physically7. A previously reported long-duration burst, GRB 060614 (ref. 3), could be viewed as a short GRB with extended emission if it were observed at a larger distance8 and was associated with a kilonova-like feature9. As a result, it belongs to the type I (compact star merger) GRB category and is probably of binary neutron star (NS) merger origin. Here we report a peculiar long-duration burst, GRB 211211A, whose prompt emission properties in many aspects differ from all known type I GRBs, yet its multiband observations suggest a non-massive-star origin. In particular, substantial excess emission in both optical and near-infrared wavelengths has been discovered (see also ref. 10), which resembles kilonova emission, as observed in some type I GRBs. These observations point towards a new progenitor type of GRBs. A scenario invoking a white dwarf (WD)-NS merger with a post-merger magnetar engine provides a self-consistent interpretation for all the observations, including prompt gamma rays, early X-ray afterglow, as well as the engine-fed11,12 kilonova emission.

Liquid biopsy is a noninvasive technique that can provide valuable information for disease characterization by using biofluids as a source of biomarkers. Proteins found in biofluids can offer a wealth of information for understanding pathological processes. In this study, we used early-stage clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) as a model to explore the proteomic relationships among tissue, plasma, and urine. We analyzed samples of tumor tissue, plasma, and urine from a cohort of 27 ccRCC patients with T1-2 stage and 27 matched healthy controls, using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for proteomic analysis. We integrated the differential proteins found in the three types of samples to explore ccRCC-associated molecular changes. Our results showed that both plasma and urine proteomes could reflect functional changes in tumor tissue. In plasma, cytoskeletal proteins and metabolic enzymes were differentially expressed, while in urine, adhesion molecules and defense proteins showed differential levels. The differential proteins found in plasma and urine both reflect the binding and catalytic activity of tumor tissue. Additionally, proteins only changed in biofluids could reflect body immune response changes, with plasma proteins involved in actin cytoskeleton and oxidative stress, and urine proteins involved in granulocyte adhesion and leukocyte extravasation signaling. Plasma and urine proteins could effectively distinguish RCC from control, with good performances (plasma/urine: 92.6%/92.6% specificity, 96.3%/92.6% sensitivity, and an area under the curve of 0.981/0.97). In conclusion, biofluids could not only reflect functional changes in tumor tissue but also reflect changes in the body's immune response. These findings will benefit the understanding of body biomarkers in tumors and the discovery of potential disease biomarkers.

Foreign ions as additives are of great significance for realizing excellent control over the morphology of noble metal nanostructures in the state-of-the-art seed-mediated growth method; however, they remain largely unexplored in chiral synthesis. Here, we report on a Cu2+-dominated chiral growth strategy that can direct the growth of concave chiral Au nanoparticles with C3-dominant chiral centers. The introduction of trace amounts of Cu2+ ions in the seed-mediated chiral growth process is found to dominate the chirality transfer from chiral molecules to chiral nanoparticles, leading to the formation of chiral nanoparticles with a concave VC geometry. Both experimental and theoretical results further demonstrate the correlation between the nanoparticle structure and optical chirality for the concave chiral nanoparticle. The Cu2+ ion is found to dominate the chiral growth by selectively activating the deposition of Au atoms along the [110] and [111] directions, facilitating the formation of the concave VC. We further demonstrate that the Cu2+-dominated chiral growth strategy can be employed to generate a variety of concave chiral nanoparticles with enriched geometric chirality and desired chiroptical properties. Concave chiral nanoparticles also exhibit appealing catalytic activity and selectivity toward electrocatalytic oxidation of enantiomers in comparison to helicoidal nanoparticles. The ability to tune the geometric chirality in a controlled manner by simply manipulating the Cu2+ ions as additives opens up a promising strategy for creating chiral nanomaterials with increasing architectural diversity for chirality-dependent optical and catalytic applications.

Hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH) is a pathophysiological syndrome in which pulmonary vascular pressure increases under hypoxic stimulation and there is an urgent need to develop emerging therapies for the treatment of HPH. LncRNA MIR210HG is a long non-coding RNA closely related to hypoxia and has been widely reported in a variety of tumor diseases. But its mechanism in hypoxic pulmonary hypertension is not clear. In this study, we identified for the first time the potential effect of MIR210HG on disease progression in HPH. Furthermore, we investigated the underlying mechanism through which elevated levels of MIR210HG promotes the transition from a contractile phenotype to a synthetic phenotype in PASMCs under hypoxia via activation of autophagy-dependent ferroptosis pathway. While overexpression of HIF-2α in PASMCs under hypoxia significantly reversed the phenotypic changes induced by MIR210HG knockdown. We further investigated the potential positive regulatory relationship between STAT3 and the transcription of MIR210HG in PASMCs under hypoxic conditions. In addition, we established both in vivo and in vitro models of HPH to validate the differential expression of specific markers associated with hypoxia. Our findings suggest a potential mechanism of LncRNA MIR210HG in the progression of HPH and offer potential targets for disease intervention and treatment.

The metastasis of lung cancer poses a major clinical challenge, and m6A modification has been implicated in regulating the invasive capabilities of tumor cells. However, the mechanisms underlying m6A modification in lung cancer metastasis are not well understood. This study aims to explore the biological functions and molecular mechanisms of methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) in lung cancer. In this study, METTL3 were found to be downregulated in lung cancer tissues. Functionally, METTL3 inhibited the migration and invasion abilities of lung cancer cells in vitro. Furthermore, SH3 domain binding protein 5 (SH3BP5) was identified as a downstream target of METTL3. Overexpression of SH3BP5 suppressed the invasive capacity of lung cancer cells, and this regulation was m6A-dependent. Finally, we discovered that YTH N6-methyladenosine RNA binding protein F1 (YTHDF1) mediated stability is responsible for maintaining the m6A modification of SH3BP5 mRNA. Overall, our study provides insights into the critical role of METTL3-mediated m6A modification and m6A-dependent regulatory mechanisms in the progression of human lung cancer. We demonstrated that METTL3 regulates the mRNA stability of SH3BP5 in a YTHDF1-dependent manner, thereby impacting the invasive capacity of lung cancer cells.

Superamphiphobic coatings have good application prospects in many fields but are limited by their low impalement resistance, weak mechanical stability, and easy adhesion of tiny droplets. Here, impalement-resistant, mechanically stable, and antistatic superamphiphobic coatings were fabricated by spraying a mixture of conductive carbon black (CB), silicone-modified polyester adhesive/fluorinated SiO2 microspheres onto Al alloy. The microspheres were obtained by adhesive phase separation and the binding of fluorinated SiO2 to them. The morphology, superamphiphobicity, impalement resistance, and mechanical stability of the coatings could be regulated by using solvents with different boiling points. As a result, the coatings simultaneously exhibited outstanding mechanical stability, impalement resistance, and superamphiphobicity. The addition of conductive CB endowed the coatings with good antistatic and tiny droplet repellent properties. In addition, the coatings exhibited good anti-icing properties due to the steady air layer at the solid-liquid interface and the very small contact area between them. We suppose that the coatings are very promising for practical application in various fields, including anti-icing, due to their outstanding comprehensive properties and simple preparation process.

Hydrovoltaic devices (HDs) based on silicon nanowire (SiNW) arrays have received intensive attention due to their simple preparation, mature processing technology, and high output power. Investigating the impact of structure parameters of SiNWs on the performance of HDs can guide the optimization of the devices, but related research is still not sufficient. This work studies the effect of the SiNW density on the performance of HDs. SiNW arrays with different densities were prepared by controlling the react time of Si wafers in the seed solution (tseed) in metal-assisted chemical etching. Density of SiNW array gradually decreases with the increase oftseed. HDs were fabricated based on SiNW arrays with different densities. The research results indicate that the open-circuit voltage gradually decreases with increasingtseed, while the short-circuit current first increases and then decreases with increasingtseed. Overall, SiNW devices withtseedof 20 s and 60 s have the best output performance. The difference in output performance of HDs based on SiNWs with different densities is attributed to the difference in the gap sizes between SiNWs, specific surface area of SiNWs, and the number of SiNWs in parallel. This work gives the corresponding relationship between the preparation conditions of SiNWs, array density, and output performance of hydrovoltaic devices. Density parameters of SiNW arrays with optimized output performance and corresponding preparation conditions are revealed. The relevant results have important reference value for understanding the mechanism of HDs and designing structural parameters of SiNWs for high-performance hydrovoltaic devices.

Fully endoscopic microvascular decompression (MVD) of the facial nerve is the main surgical treatment for hemifacial spasm. However, the technique presents distinct surgical challenges. We retrospectively analyzed prior cases to consolidate surgical insights and assess clinical outcomes. Clinical data from 16 patients with facial nerve spasms treated at the Department of Neurosurgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College, between August 2020 and July 2023, were retrospectively examined. Preoperatively, all patients underwent magnetic resonance angiography to detect any offending blood vessels; ascertain the relationship between offending vessels, facial nerves, and the brainstem; and detect any cerebellopontine angle lesions. Surgery involved endoscopic MVD of the facial nerve using a mini Sigmoid sinus posterior approach. Various operative nuances were summarized and analyzed, and clinical efficacy, including postoperative complications and the extent of relief from facial paralysis, was evaluated. Fully endoscopic MVD was completed in all patients, with the offending vessels identified and adequately padded during surgery. The offending vessels were anterior inferior cerebellar artery in 12 cases (75%), vertebral artery in 3 cases (18.75%), and posterior inferior cerebellar artery in 1 case (6.25%). Intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring revealed that the lateral spread response of the facial nerve vanished in 15 cases and remained unchanged in 1 case. Postoperative facial spasms were promptly alleviated in 15 cases (93.75%) and delayed in 1 case (6.25%). Two cases of postoperative complications were recorded-one intracranial infection and one case of tinnitus-both were resolved or mitigated with treatment. All patients were subject to follow-up, with no instances of recurrence or mortality. Fully endoscopic MVD of the facial nerve is safe and effective. Proficiency in endoscopy and surgical skills are vital for performing this procedure.

Constructing chiral plexcitonic systems with tunable plasmon-exciton coupling may advance the scientific exploitation of strong light-matter interactions. Because of their intriguing chiroptical properties, chiral plasmonic materials have shown promising applications in photonics, sensing, and biomedicine. However, the strong coupling of chiral plasmonic nanoparticles with excitons remains largely unexplored. Here we demonstrate the construction of a chiral plasmon-exciton system using chiral AuAg nanorods and J aggregates for tuning the plexcitonic optical chirality. Circular dichroism spectroscopy was employed to characterize chiral plasmon-exciton coupling, in which Rabi splitting and anticrossing behaviors were observed, whereas the extinction spectra exhibited less prominent phenomena. By controlling the number of molecular excitons and the energy detuning between plasmons and excitons, we have been able to fine-tune the plexcitonic optical chirality. The ability to fine-tune the plexcitonic optical chirality opens up unique opportunities for exploring chiral light-matter interactions and boosting the development of emerging chiroptical devices.

Aspirin is a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug often used long term. However, long-term or large doses will cause gastrointestinal adverse reactions. To explore the mechanism of intestinal damage, we used non-targeted metabolomics; farnesoid X receptor (FXR) knockout mice, which were compared with wild-type mice; FXR agonists obeticholic acid (OCA) and chenodeoxycholic acid (CDCA); and endothelin-producing inhibitor estradiol to explore the mechanisms of acute and chronic intestinal injuries induced by aspirin from the perspective of molecular biology. Changes were found in the bile acids taurocholate acid (TCA) and tauro-ß-muricholic acid (T-ß-MCA) in the duodenum, and we detected a significant inhibition of FXR target genes. After additional administration of the FXR agonists OCA and CDCA, duodenal villus damage and inflammation were effectively improved. The results in the FXR knockout mice and wild-type mice showed that the overexpression of endothelin 1 (ET-1) was independent of FXR regulation after aspirin exposure, whereas CDCA was able to restore the activation of ET-1, which was induced by aspirin in wild-type mice in an FXR-dependent manner. The inhibition of ET-1 production could also effectively protect against small bowel damage. Therefore, the study revealed the key roles of the FXR and ET-1 pathways in acute and chronic aspirin-induced intestinal injuries, as well as strategies on alleviating aspirin-induced gastrointestinal injury by activating FXR and inhibiting ET-1 overexpression.

BACKGROUND: Intramuscular fat (IMF) content is the major indicator for evaluating chicken meat quality due to its positive correlation with tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. An increasing number of studies are focusing on the functions of microRNAs (miRNAs) in intramuscular adipocyte differentiation. However, little is known about the association of miR-128-3p with intramuscular adipocyte differentiation. Our previous RNA-seq results indicated that miR-128-3p was differentially expressed at different periods in chicken intramuscular adipocytes, revealing a possible association with intramuscular adipogenesis. The purpose of this research was to investigate the biological functions and regulatory mechanism of miR-128-3p in chicken intramuscular adipogenesis. RESULTS: The results of a series of assays confirmed that miR-128-3p could promote the proliferation and inhibit the differentiation of intramuscular adipocytes. A total of 223 and 1,050 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in the mimic treatment group and inhibitor treatment group, respectively, compared with the control group. Functional enrichment analysis revealed that the DEGs were involved in lipid metabolism-related pathways, such as the MAPK and TGF-ß signaling pathways. Furthermore, target gene prediction analysis showed that miR-128-3p can target many of the DEGs, such as FDPS, GGT5, TMEM37, and ASL2. The luciferase assay results showed that miR-128-3p targeted the 3' UTR of FDPS. The results of subsequent functional assays demonstrated that miR-128-3p acted as an inhibitor of intramuscular adipocyte differentiation by targeting FDPS. CONCLUSION: miR-128-3p inhibits chicken intramuscular adipocyte differentiation by downregulating FDPS. Our findings provide a theoretical basis for the study of lipid metabolism and reveal a potential target for molecular breeding to improve meat quality.

BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer (PCa) is a serious health threat for humans worldwide. Recent studies have revealed that microRNAs are associated with the progression of human cancers, including PCa. However, no study has been performed aiming to investigate the role of microNA-4286 (miR-4286) on PCa. METHODS: A quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction was conducted to analyze the expression level of miR-4286 in PCa cells. The connection of miR-4286 and spalt like transcription factor 1 (SALL1) was analyzed with a bioinformatic analysis tool, a dual-luciferase activity reporter assay and western blotting. The effects of miR-4286 and SALL1 on PCa cell behaviors were examined in vitro. RESULTS: We showed miR-4286 expression was significantly increased in PCa cells compared to a normal cell line. Knockdown of miR-4286 could inhibit PCa cell proliferation but promote cell apoptosis by targeting SALL1. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present study suggest that miR-4286 overexpression represents a tumor promoter role in PCa.

BACKGROUND: HD-Zips (Homeodomain-Leucine Zippers) are a class of plant-specific transcription factors that play multiple roles in plant growth and development. Although some functions of HD-Zip transcription factor have been reported in several plants, it has not been comprehensively studied in peach, especially during adventitious root formation of peach cuttings. RESULTS: In this study, 23 HD-Zip genes distributed on 6 chromosomes were identified from the peach (Prunus persica) genome, and named PpHDZ01-23 according to their positions on the chromosomes. These 23 PpHDZ transcription factors all contained a homeomorphism box domain and a leucine zipper domain, were divided into 4 subfamilies(I-IV) according to the evolutionary analysis, and their promoters contained many different cis-acting elements. Spatio-temporal expression pattern showed that these genes were expressed in many tissues with different levels, and they had distinct expression pattern during adventitious root formation and development. CONCLUSION: Our results showed the roles of PpHDZs on root formation, which is helpful to better understand the classification and function of peach HD-Zip genes.

The interfacial effect is widely used to optimize the properties of ferroelectric nanocomposites, however, there is still a lack of direct evidence to understand its underlying mechanisms limited by the nano size and complex structures. Here, taking piezoelectricity, for example, the mechanism of interfacial polarization in barium titanate/poly(vinylidene fluoride-ran-trifluoroethylene) (BTO/P(VDF-TrFE)) nanocomposite is revealed at multiple scales by combining Kelvin probe force microscope (KPFM) with theoretical stimulation. The results prove that the mismatch of permittivity between matrix and filler leads to the accumulation of charges, which in turn induces local polarization in the interfacial region, and thus can promote piezoelectricity independently. Furthermore, the strategy of interfacial polarization to enhance piezoelectricity is extended and validated in other two similar nanocomposites. This work uncovers the mechanism of interfacial polarization and paves newfangled insights to boost performances in ferroelectric nanocomposites.

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and hepatic steatosis (HS) are two prevalent chronic liver diseases in Asia. The incidence of CHB combined with HS is increasing due to the rising obesity rates. However, the impact of HS on CHB remains a topic of debate. Hereby, this meta-analysis aims to examine the effect of HS on Asian patients with CHB. Searches were conducted on four databases to identify articles published from 2005 to 2023. The random-effects or fixed-effects model was used to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs), weighted mean difference (WMD), and confidence intervals (CIs) for the included articles. Of the 15,959 records screened, 88 studies were included in the analysis of HS prevalence in Asian CHB patients with a prevalence of 36.5% (95% CI: 33.7%-39.3%). In addition, age, sex, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and combined metabolic diseases have varying degrees of impact on HS in CHB patients. Furthermore, the coexistence of HS was negatively associated with the response to antiviral therapy, including hepatitis B surface antigen (HBeAg) seroconversion (OR = 0.69, 95% CI: 0.53-0.89) and ALT normalization (OR = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.61-0.92) in CHB patients after 48 weeks of treatment. Regarding disease prognosis, HS was not significantly associated with fibrosis or cirrhosis in CHB patients, while an inverse association was observed between HS and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) (OR = 2.93, 95% CI: 1.23-6.99). This implies that the coexistence of HS in CHB patients may exacerbate the progression of HCC, which needs to be verified by further studies.

The impact of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on the progression of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) disease remains controversial. We aimed to investigate whether pre-existing chronic HBV (CHB) infection and therapy with anti-HBV nucleos(t)ide analogs (NAs) influence the clinical presentation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Omicron variant infection. In this study, clinical information was collected via a questionnaire from patients with COVID-19, and their clinical symptoms were quantitatively assessed for comparative analyses. Additionally, hepatitis B-related laboratory data were collected for CHB patients. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to minimize confounding biases. A total of 785 patients with COVID-19 were included in the cohort, of which 387 were identified as being infected with CHB infection and they were categorized as being in the immune control or clearance phase. After PSM, the CHB group (n = 222) had a shorter duration of fever and disease course, milder clinical symptoms, and lower incidence of pneumonia than the non-CHB group (n = 222) after Omicron variant infection (p < 0.05). After the adjustment of confounding factors, CHB patients showed a lower risk of prolonged fever, severe clinical symptoms, and pneumonia (p < 0.05). However, there were no statistically significant differences in the clinical symptoms and incidence of pneumonia between CHB patients who received and did not receive NAs, or CHB patients who received tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and entecavir (p > 0.05). In conclusion, our findings suggest that the crosstalk of anti-HBV immunity may contribute to the alleviated symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants infection in the CHB patients, independent of anti-HBV NA therapy.

BACKGROUND: Although colonoscopy is considered the most effective tool for reducing colorectal cancer-related morbidity, the age at which average-risk individuals begin colonoscopic screening is undetermined. This study aimed to compare the adenoma and advanced adenoma detection rates according to age and sex in a large average-risk population in the rural areas of Eastern China. METHODS: This observational, single-center, retrospective study included patients with average colorectal cancer risk and examined the adenoma and advanced adenoma detection rates using age intervals of 5 years. We also compared the size and age of patients with and without advanced adenoma. RESULTS: We included 18 928 patients with a median age of 54 years (range 15-90 years), including 10 143 men and 8785 women. The adenoma and advanced adenoma detection rates were 17.08% and 5.24%, respectively, and increased with age in the whole population. The adenoma detection rates increased from 8.97% (aged 40-44) to 14.98% (aged 45-49) and 6.24% (aged 45-49) to 11.00% (aged 50-54) in men and women (both P < .001), respectively. The advanced adenoma detection rates increased from 2.19% (aged 40-44) to 4.76% (aged 45-49) and 1.89% (aged 45-49) to 3.13% (aged 50-54) in men (P = .002) and women (P = .056), respectively. Patients with advanced adenomas were significantly older than those with non-advanced adenomas (P < .001). The tumors in the advanced adenoma group were significantly larger than those in the non-advanced adenoma group (P < .001). CONCLUSION: The adenoma and advanced adenoma detection rates increased significantly in average-risk population aged 45 years and older, especially in men.

In the realm of wastewater treatment, the power of ferrate (Fe(VI)) and peracetic acid (PAA) as oxidants stands out. But their combined might is where the enhancement truly lies. Their collaborative effect intensifies, but the underlying mechanics, especially across varying pH levels and pollutant types, still lurks in obscurity. Our study delved into the sophisticated oxidation interplay among Fe(VI)-PAA, Fe(VI)-H2O2, and standalone Fe(VI) systems. Notably, at a pH of 9.0, boasting a kinetic constant of ∼0.127 M-1·s-1, the Fe(VI)-PAA system annihilated the pollutant sulfamethoxazole, outpacing its counterparts by a staggering 48.73-fold when compared to the Fe(VI)-H2O2 system and 105.58-fold when using Fe(VI) individually. The behavior of active species─such as the dynamic •OH radicals and high-valent iron species (Fe(IV)/Fe(V))─shifted with pH variations, leading to distinct degradation pathways. Our detailed exploration pinpoints the behaviors of certain species across pH levels from 3.0 to 9.0. In more acidic environments, the •OH species proved indispensable for the system's reactivity. Conversely, as the pH inclined, degradation was increasingly steered by high-valent iron species. This intensive probe demystifies Fe(VI) interactions, deepening our understanding of the capabilities of the Fe(VI)-centered system and guiding us toward cleaner water solutions. Importantly, pH value, often underappreciated, holds the reins in organic wastewater decontamination. Embracing this key player is vital as we strategize for more expansive systems in upcoming ventures.

A fast and sensitive analytical method based on UHPLC coupled with tandem mass spectrometry was established to investigate the dissipation and final residual amounts of mefentrifluconazole in rice, and dietary risk to consumers was evaluated. The method provided good linearity (R2 ≥ 0.9979), accuracy (recovery range, 79.0-101.5%), precision (relative standard deviation range, 1.3-13.9%), and sensitivity (limit of quantification, 0.005 mg/kg). The dissipation dynamics of mefentrifluconazole in rice followed first-order kinetics, with half-lives of 2.8-16.6 days. The final residues of mefentrifluconazole in various samples of harvested brown rice ranged from less than the limit of quantification to 0.092 mg/kg, the latter value being higher than the maximum residue limit recommended by the European Union. Comparative dietary exposure of mefentrifluconazole was assessed using field data and Chinese dietary patterns for different genders, regions, and age data. Although the results showed acceptable levels of risk for both acute exposure (the percentage of the acute reference dose ≤ 0.7483%) and chronic dietary intake (the percentage of acceptable daily intake ≤ 31.8516%), more studies of children are needed because they are at higher risk than other groups. This work provides the necessary data for registering and establishing the maximum residue limit for mefentrifluconazole in rice in China and reveals the potential risks to different groups of long-term application of mefentrifluconazole to rice and other crops.
