RESUMO

Colletotrichum tabacum, causing anthracnose in tobacco, is a notorious plant pathogen threatening tobacco production globally. The underlying mechanisms of C. tabacum effectors that interfere with plant defense are not well known. Here, we identified a novel effector, Cte1, from C. tabacum, and its expression was upregulated in the biotrophic stage. We found that Cte1 depresses plant cell death initiated by BAX and inhibits reactive oxygen species (ROS) bursts triggered by flg22 and chitin in Nicotiana benthamiana. The CTE1 knockout mutants decrease the virulence of C. tabacum to N. benthamiana, and the Cte1 transgenic N. benthamiana increase susceptibility to C. tabacum, verifying that Cte1 is involved in the pathogenicity of C. tabacum. We demonstrated that Cte1 interacted with NbCPR1, a Constitutive expresser of Plant Resistance (CPR) protein in plants. Silencing of NbCPR1 expression attenuated the infection of C. tabacum, indicating that NbCPR1 negatively regulates plant immune responses. Cte1 stabilizes NbCPR1 in N. benthamiana. Our study shows that Cte1 suppresses plant immunity to facilitate C. tabacum infection by intervening in the native function of NbCPR1. RESUMO

While amines are widely used as additives in metal-halide perovskites, our understanding of the way amines in perovskite precursor solutions impact the resultant perovskite film is still limited. In this paper, we explore the multiple effects of benzylamine (BnAm), also referred to as phenylmethylamine, used to passivate both FA0.75Cs0.25Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 and FA0.8Cs0.2PbI3 perovskite compositions. We show that, unlike benzylammonium (BnA+) halide salts, BnAm reacts rapidly with the formamidinium (FA+) cation, forming new chemical products in solution and these products passivate the perovskite crystal domains when processed into a thin film. In addition, when BnAm is used as a bulk additive, the average perovskite solar cell maximum power point tracked efficiency (for 30 s) increased to 19.3% compared to the control devices 16.8% for a 1.68 eV perovskite. Under combined full spectrum simulated sunlight and 65 °C temperature, the devices maintained a better T80 stability of close to 2500 h while the control devices have T80 stabilities of <100 h. We obtained similar results when presynthesizing the product BnFAI and adding it directly into the perovskite precursor solution. These findings highlight the mechanistic differences between amine and ammonium salt passivation, enabling the rational design of molecular strategies to improve the material quality and device performance of metal-halide perovskites.

RESUMO

With theoretically endowing with high energy densities and environmentally friendly carbon neutralization ability, flexible fiber-shaped Li-CO2 battery emerges as a multipurpose platform for next-generation wearable electronics. Nevertheless, the ineluctable issues faced by cathode catalysts and Li anodes have brought enormous obstacles to the development of flexible fiber-shaped Li-CO2 batteries. Herein, a flexible fiber-shaped Li-CO2 battery based on Mo3 N2 cathode coating with atomic layer deposited TiN and Li3 N protected Li anode is constructed. Owing to the regulation surface electrons of Mo3 N2 by TiN, heterostructured cathode has more delocalized electrons which enable cathodes to stabilize 2-electron intermediate products Li2 C2 O4 by electron bridge bonds and avoid disproportionation into Li2 CO3 . Li3 N layers not only accelerate Li+ transportation but also avoid contact between Li and CO2 to form Li2 CO3 . Thus, the constructed Li-CO2 battery demonstrates a low charge potential of 3.22 V, low overpotential of 0.56 V, outstanding rate capabilities up to 1 A g-1 , and excellent long-term cycling (≈2000 h) with an energy efficiency of ≈80%. The fabricated flexible fiber-shaped Li-CO2 battery shows an ultrahigh energy density of 14 772.5 Wh kg-1 based on cathodes (340.8 Wh kg-1 based on device mass), and outstanding deformations adaptability, giving it great potential for wearable electronics.

RESUMO

Li-CO2 battery with high energy density has aroused great interest recently, large-scale applications are hindered by the limited cathode catalysis performance and execrably cycle performance. Herein, Mo3 P/Mo Mott-Schottky heterojunction nanorod electrocatalyst with abundant porous structure is fabricated and served as cathodes for Li-CO2 batteries. The Mo3 P/Mo cathodes exhibit ultra-high discharge specific capacity of 10 577 mAh g-1 , low polarization voltage of 0.15 V, and high energy efficiency of up to 94.7%. Mott-Schottky heterojunction formed by Mo and Mo3 P drives electron transfer and optimizes the surface electronic structure, which is beneficial to accelerate the interface reaction kinetics. Distinctively, during the discharge process, the C2 O4 2- intermediates combine with Mo atoms to form a stable Mo-O coupling bridge on the catalyst surface, which effectively facilitate the formation and stabilization of Li2 C2 O4 products. In addition, the construction of the Mo-O coupling bridge between the Mott-Schottky heterojunction and Li2 C2 O4 promotes the reversible formation and decomposition of discharge products and optimizes the polarization performance of the Li-CO2 battery. This work provides another pathway for the development of heterostructure engineering electrocatalysts for high-performance Li-CO2 batteries.

RESUMO

Squeezed light near an atomic resonance is beneficial for efficient atom-light quantum interfaces. It is desirable but challenging to directly generate in atoms due to excess noise from spontaneous emission and reabsorption. Here, we report on the use of energy-level modulation to actively control atomic coherence and interference in degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) and then to enhance the DFWM gain process for the generation of near-resonant squeezed twin beams. With this technique, we obtain a -2.6 dB intensity-difference squeezing detuned 100 MHz from the D1 F = 4 to F' = 4 transition of 133Cs.

RESUMO

We demonstrate a widely tunable single-frequency Er-doped ZBLAN fiber laser operating on a 4F9/2→4I9/2 transition band. An uncoated germanium (Ge) plate serves as a narrow-bandwidth etalon and is inserted in the cavity to achieve a single longitudinal mode selection. Wavelength tuning from 3373.8 nm to 3718.5 nm was demonstrated by using a blazed diffraction grating at 3.5 µm. At the emission peak of 3465.6 nm, the laser yields over 100 mW single-frequency output power, with a 3 dB linewidth <6.9 MHz, and a slope efficiency (with respect to the incident 1990 nm pump power) of 20.3%. Such a tunable mid-infrared single-frequency fiber laser may serve as a versatile laser source in spectroscopy and sensing applications.

RESUMO

A high-power, high-efficiency single-frequency fiber laser at 1064 nm was demonstrated based on a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) all-silica-fiber configuration. A single-frequency laser with an output power of 642 mW and slope efficiency of 66.4% with respect to absorbed pump power was achieved from a 1.2-cm-long commercially available Yb3+-doped silica fiber. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest single-frequency laser power and efficiency obtained from the DBR all-silica fiber laser. The work presented here paves the way for the development of high-power, robust, and cost-effective single-frequency Yb3+-doped all-silica fiber lasers.

RESUMO

In the domain of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), the development of efficient and durable catalysts for the electro-oxidation of small organic molecules, especially of alcohols (methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, et al.) has always been a hot topic. A large number of related electrocatalysts with splendid performance have been designed and synthesized till now, while the preparation processes of most of them are demanding on experimental operations and conditions. Herein, we put forward a facile and handy method for the preparation of multifunctional Ni(OH)2 -supported core-shell Ni@Pd nanocomposites (Ni(OH)2 /Ni@Pd NCs) with the assistance of galvanic replacement reaction (GRR) at room temperature and ambient pressure. As expected, the Ni(OH)2 substrate can prevent the aggregation of core-shell (CS) Ni@Pd nanoparticles (NPs) and inhibit the formation of COads and further prevent Pd from being poisoned. The synergistic effect between CS Ni@Pd NPs and Ni(OH)2 substrate and the electronic effect between Pd shell and Ni core contribute to the outstanding electrocatalytic performance for methanol, ethanol, and ethylene glycol oxidation in alkaline condition. This study provides a succinct method for the design and preparation of efficient Pd-based electrocatalysts for alcohol electro-oxidation.

RESUMO

A three-component umpolung cascade coupling reaction of phenols, C60 , and different nucleophiles which includes H2 O, alcohols, triphenylamines and carbazoles was developed. Furthermore, one-pot 1,4-bisphenol coupling on C60 has been realized by this method. This practical protocol features high chemo- and regioselectivity, wide substrate range, easy operation and low cost, thus providing a robust method for the one-pot synthesis of various unsymmetrical 1,4-[60]fullerephenols.

RESUMO

Hole-transport materials (HTMs) based on triarylamine derivatives play important roles in organic electronics applications including organic light-emitting diodes and perovskite solar cells. For some applications, triarylamine derivatives bearing appropriate binding groups have been used to functionalize surfaces, while others have been incorporated as side chains into polymers to manipulate the processibility of HTMs for device applications. However, only a few approaches have been used to incorporate a single surface-binding group or polymerizable group into triarylamine materials. Here, we report that Rh-carbenoid chemistry can be used to insert carboxylic esters and norbornene functional groups into sp2 C-H bonds of a simple triarylamine and a 4,4'-bis(diarylamino)biphenyl, respectively. The norbenene-functionalized monomer was polymerized by ring-opening metathesis; the electrochemical, optical, and charge-transport properties of these materials were similar to those of related materials synthesized by conventional means. This method potentially offers straightforward access to a diverse range of HTMs with different functional groups.

RESUMO

Aroma is an important aspect of wine quality and consumer appreciation. The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and olfactory profiles of Merlot dry red wines from the Eastern Foothill of Helan Mountain (EFHM) were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that Merlot wines from EFHM were characterized by intense flavors of drupe and tropical fruits compared with the Gansu region. Nineteen VOCs were defined as essential compounds contributing to the aroma characteristics of the Merlot wines through gas chromatography-olfactometry/mass spectrometry and odor activity value analysis. Predominantly, geranyl isovalerate, which contributed to the herbal odors of the Merlot wines, was detected in the grape wine of EFHM for the first time. The addition experiment revealed that geranyl isovalerate influenced the aroma quality of wine by increasing herbal odors and enhancing the olfactory intensities of tropical fruits. These results are helpful for further understanding the aroma of Merlot wines from EFHM and improving the quality of wine aromas.

RESUMO

Nondegenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) in diamond-type atomic systems has important applications in a wide range of fields, including quantum entanglement generation, frequency conversion, and optical information processing. Although the efficient self-seeded nondegenerate FWM with amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) has been realized extensively, the seeded nondegenerate FWM without ASE is inefficient in reported experiments so far. Here we present the experimental realization of the seeded nondegenerate FWM in cesium atoms with a significantly improved efficiency. Specifically, with two pump lasers at 852 and 921 nm and a seed laser at 895 nm, a continuous-wave laser at 876 nm is efficiently generated via FWM in a cesium vapor cell with a power up to 1.2 mW, three orders of magnitude larger than what has been achieved in previous experiments. The improvement of the efficiency benefits from the exact satisfaction of the phase-matching condition realized by an elaborately designed setup. Our results may find applications in the generation of squeezing and entanglement of light via nondegenerate FWM.

RESUMO

In this paper, a novel, to the best of our knowledge, efficient pump scheme for an erbium-doped fluoride fiber laser with emission at 2.8 µm in the mid-infrared region is proposed and demonstrated. A singular pump source at 1.7 µm is used to excite Er3+ ions from ground state 4I15/2 to lower laser level 4I13/2, and then further boost the ions to 4I9/2, where a non-radiation transition occurs for the Er3+ ions to reach upper laser level 4I11/2. This scheme can efficiently recycle ions on the lower laser level 4I13/2 by excited-state absorption, therefore realizing population inversion and enhancing laser efficiency. In our demonstration, a 660-mW laser output at 2.8 µm is achieved from a 1.7-µm core-pumped erbium-doped fluoride fiber laser, where the slope efficiency versus launched pump power is 23.7%. The proposed innovative pump scheme shows great potential to realize high-power, high-efficiency erbium-doped fiber lasers at 2.8 µm.

RESUMO

We demonstrate an efficient single-frequency Tm-doped fiber laser at 2050 nm. A ring cavity scheme is employed to boost the net gain at the wavelength. A piece of Tm/Ho-codoped fiber with an absorption coefficient at 2050 nm higher than that of a Tm-doped fiber is used to establish the dynamic Bragg grating for enhancing the frequency selection capability. A single-frequency output of 215 mW is obtained under 2 W of 1570-nm pump power, with the slope efficiency being 22%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest single-frequency all-fiber laser oscillator output power above 2 µm.

RESUMO

Here we demonstrated an efficient high-power single-frequency thulium-doped fiber ring laser operating at 1720 nm. Three cascaded sub-rings were inserted into the main cavity to significantly enlarge the effective free spectral range. By incorporating a fiber Bragg grating, the single longitudinal mode operation was achieved. The maximum single-frequency output power reached up to 1.11 W under 3.75-W launched pump power, while the slope efficiency with respect to the absorbed pump power was 46.4%. The laser linewidth at maximum single-frequency power was measured of 1.9 kHz. Potential power scaling of the single-frequency output power with different quantity and lengths of the sub-rings was also theoretically investigated.

RESUMO

The single-frequency operation of a thulium fiber laser at a short wavelength of 1720 nm is investigated in a ring resonator. Powerful single-longitudinal-mode operation was realized by utilizing an unpumped thulium-doped fiber as the saturable absorber. The fiber laser delivered 407 mW single-frequency output with a spectral linewidth of 4.4 kHz under 2.7-W launched pump power at 1570 nm, which turned to multi-longitudinal-mode operation at higher pump powers. Additionally, optical bistability of both output power and longitudinal mode behavior, originating from the saturable absorption effect, were observed and discussed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first efficient 1.7-µm single-frequency fiber laser as well as the first demonstration of optical bistability in thulium-doped fiber lasers.

RESUMO

In this paper, we demonstrate an efficient 1.7-µm Tm-doped fiber laser whose cavity was embedded in a 1560 nm erbium/ytterbium-codoped fiber laser cavity, which enabled bidirectional pumping and made full use of the circulating pump in the parent laser cavity. A rate equation model was developed to optimize the fiber length and output coupling for a desired output power. In the experiment, a maximum output power at 1720 nm of 1.13 W was obtained under 10 W of 976 nm diode pump power, which correlated well with our modeling. The slope efficiency from the multimode 976 nm diode pump to 1720 nm output was 13.5%, while the slope efficiency in terms of launched 1560 nm pump power reached 62.5%. By using a short Tm-doped fiber to minimize signal reabsorption, a high signal-to-noise ratio over 65 dB was achieved. The prospect for further power scaling was also discussed based on our developed model.

RESUMO

Blue-violet wavelength multiplexing offers the capability to enhance the operational capacity and efficiency in optical information processing, underwater communications, biology, and medicine. Here we present a specially designed atomic scheme of cesium for simultaneously generating two blue-violet lasers at 456 and 459 nm via four-wave-mixing (FWM)-based upconversion processes. We experimentally and theoretically show that a double-diamond-type coherent system pumped with 852 and 921 nm lasers is responsible for the efficient generation of the two blue-violet lasers. In this system, the large population inversions lead to self-amplified spontaneous emissions at 15.6 and 12.1µm, which, in turn, serve as the seeds for enhanced double FWM processes with dual-wavelength upconversions.
