RESUMO

The Brewster effect has been previously reported as an essential mechanism for terahertz (THz) wave sensing application. However, generally in a sensing application, a complex rotation apparatus is required for detecting the slight change in Brewster angle. Here, we propose a graphene-based Brewster angle device operating at a specific terahertz frequency capable of sensing the refractive index at a fixed incident angle. In other words, our sensing device could avoid the impact of Brewster angle shift and eliminate the need for high-precision rotating equipment, which is usually required in traditional sensing applications. The conversion from the refractive index to a Volt-level detectable voltage roots from the tunability of graphene's Fermi level in the external electrical field. A linear correlation between the output voltage and the background refractive index is observed and theocratically analyzed. Furthermore, we present the improvement of our device in terms of sensing range and sensitivity by adjusting the permittivity of the dielectric substrate. As a demonstration of our proposed device, a detection range of 1.1-2.4 and a sensitivity of 20.06 V/RIU for refractive index is achieved on a high-resistance silicon substrate operating at 0.3 THz.

RESUMO

A quantitative analysis method for corrosion products based on terahertz spectroscopy is proposed in this paper. Mixture samples consisting of three major corrosion products (magnetite, hematite, and goethite) were prepared in 51 different concentrations. The refractive index spectra measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy were projected to the 2D score diagram by performing principal component analysis. The Euclidean distances between the mixtures and pure analyte on the diagram were used to build a concentration prediction model. The results indicate that the established model can precisely predict the concentration of magnetite, which is essential for a stability evaluation of the corrosion system.

RESUMO

Fresh mother's own milk (MOM) can protect preterm infants from many complications. Often MOM is pasteurized for safety, which can deactivate cellular and bioactive components with protective benefits. Questions remain regarding whether pasteurized MOM provides the same benefits as fresh MOM. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association and feasibility of feeding very preterm infants with fresh MOM. This prospective cohort study included 157 very preterm infants born before 32 weeks' gestational age and with a birthweight below 1500 g. Of these, 82 infants were included in the fresh MOM without any processing group and 75 infants were included in the pasteurized never-frozen MOM (PNFMOM) group. The mortality rate, survival rate without severe complication, incidence of complications, feeding indexes and growth velocities were compared to assess the association and feasibility of feeding fresh MOM. Compared with the PNFMOM group, the fresh MOM group had a higher survival rate without severe complications (p = 0.014) and a lower incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (p = 0.010) after adjustment for confounders. The fresh MOM group regained birthweight earlier (p = 0.021), reached total enteral feeding earlier (p = 0.024), and received total parenteral nutrition for less time (p = 0.045). No adverse events associated with fresh MOM feeding were recorded. Feeding fresh MOM may reduce the incidence of complications in very premature infants. Fresh MOM was shown to be a feasible feeding strategy to improve preterm infants' outcomes.

RESUMO

Myocardial Ischemic Injury is a serious threat to human health, and DJ-1 is involved in cardioprotection. The research intended to explore the effects and mechanism of DJ-1 to protect myocardium against ischemia injury. DJ-1 overexpression lentivirus vectors were transduced into the myocardium of SD rats and H9c2 cells, and an AMI model in vivo and a hypoxia model in vitro were established, respectively. Results showed that DJ-1 overexpression alleviated myocardial ischemia injury, as demonstrated by reduced the extent of myocardial infarction, improved cell survival, decreased LDH activity and CK-MB release. Furthermore, DJ-1 interacted with RACK1, activated AMPK/mTOR pathway, induced adaptive autophagy and protected the myocardium. However, RACK1 siRNA or compound C (an AMPK inhibitor) could weaken the above effect of DJ-1 on myocardium. In conclusion, DJ-1 could activate adaptive autophagy by the RACK1/AMPK/mTOR pathway and protect the myocardium against ischemia injury.

RESUMO

The gate-controllable electronical property of graphene provides a possibility of active tuning property for THz modulator. However, the common modulation technology which only depends on voltage cannot solve the problem of power consumption limitation in communication applications. Here, we demonstrated a Brewster angle-controlled graphene-based THz modulator, which could achieve a relatively high modulation depth with low voltage. First, we explored the complex relationships among the Brewster angles, reflection coefficients and the conductivities of graphene. Then, we further investigated the optimal incident angle selection based on the unusual reflection effect which occurs at Brewster angle. Finally, an improved scheme by dynamically adjusting the incident angle was proposed in this paper. It would make it possible that the modulator could achieve a modulation depth of more than 90% with a Fermi level as low as 0.2eV at any specific frequency in the range of 0.4THz-2.2THz. This research will help to realize a THz modulator with high-performance and ultra-low-power in quantities of applications, such as sensing and communication.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: For patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAHs) and multiple intracranial aneurysms (MIAs), a simple and fast imaging method that can identify ruptured intracranial aneurysms (RIAs) may have great clinical value. We sought to use the aneurysm-specific prediction score to identify RIAs in patients with MIAs and evaluate the aneurysm-specific prediction score. METHODS: Between May 2018 and May 2021, 134 patients with 290 MIAs were retrospectively analyzed. All patients had an SAH due to IA rupture. CT angiography (CTA) was used to assess the maximum diameter, shape, and location of IAs to calculate the aneurysm-specific prediction score. Then, the aneurysm-specific prediction score was applied to RIAs in patients with MIAs. RESULTS: The IAs with the highest aneurysm-specific prediction scores had not ruptured in 17 (12.7%) of the 134 patients with 290 MIAs. The sensitivity, specificity, false omission rate, diagnostic error rate, and diagnostic accuracy of the aneurysm-specific prediction score were higher than those of the maximum diameter, shape, and location of IAs. CONCLUSIONS: The present study suggests that the aneurysm-specific prediction score has high diagnostic accuracy in identifying RIAs in patients with MIAs and SAH, but that it needs further evaluation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Nurses' palliative care practice ability is the key to evaluating the quality of palliative care. This study aimed to identify the current situation of palliative care practices, competence and difficulties among nurses and determine whether difficulties play a mediating role between practices and competence. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted. The online survey comprised demographics, the Palliative Care Self-Reported Practices Scale, the Palliative Care Nursing Self-competence Scale and the Palliative Care Difficulties Scale. Data were analysed by using descriptive statistics, univariate analysis, linear regression and mediation analysis. RESULTS: A total of 284 questionnaires were included for statistical analysis. The mean scores for practices, competence and difficulties were 67.81 (SD = 13.60), 124.28 (41.21) and 44.32 (12.68), respectively. There was a correlation between practices, competence and difficulties (p < 0.01). Competence and difficulties were independent predictors of practices (R2 adj  = 0.384, p < 0.001). Furthermore, difficulties mediated the relationship between practices and competence (b = 0.052, 95% confidence interval: 0.008-0.155). CONCLUSIONS: Continuous efforts should be made to enhance nurses' practices, competence and problem-solving abilities in palliative care. This study suggested further targeted education programmes, especially in special symptom management, interagency and multidisciplinary communication.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Endometrial cancer is generally one of the most evident malignant tumours of the female reproductive system, and the mechanisms underlying its cell proliferation and apoptosis are key to research in gynaecological oncology. In the paper, the in-depth molecular mechanism by which DJ-1 protein regulates the proliferation and apoptosis of Ishikawa cells was investigated. METHODS AND RESULTS: DJ-1 knockdown and overexpressing Ishikawa stable cell lines were established by lentiviral transduction. The levels of DJ-1 and noncanonical NF-κB signaling key proteins were evaluated by Western blotting. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry were applied to analyze the cell viability and apoptosis. Co-immunoprecipitation experiment was utilized to assess the DJ-1-Cezanne interaction. The results showed that DJ-1 overexpression conferred apoptosis resistance and high proliferation on Ishikawa cells, while DJ-1 knockdown in Ishikawa cells produced the opposite results. These findings again suggested that DJ-1 inhibits the apoptosis and promotes the proliferation of Ishikawa cells. More crucially, further data showed that the noncanonical NF-κB activation was required for the regulation of Ishikawa cell proliferation and apoptosis by DJ-1. Meanwhile, it was found that noncanonical NF-κB pathway may be activated by DJ-1 interacting with and negatively regulating Cezanne in Ishikawa cells. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, this work revealed that DJ-1 associates with and negatively regulates Cezanne and consequently triggers the noncanonical NF-κB activation, thereby regulating Ishikawa cell proliferation and apoptosis.

RESUMO

Mobilization of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) has become increasingly important for hematopoietic cell transplantation. Current mobilization approaches are insufficient because they fail to mobilize sufficient numbers of cells in a significant fraction of patients and are biased toward myeloid immune reconstitution. A novel, single drug mobilization agent that allows a more balanced (myeloid and lymphoid) reconstitution would therefore be highly favorable to improve transplantation outcome. In this present study, we tested commercially available IL-33 molecules and engineered novel variants of IL-33. These molecules were tested in cell-based assays in vitro and in mobilization models in vivo. We observed for the first time that IL-33 treatment in mice mobilized HSPCs and common myeloid progenitors more efficiently than clinical mobilizing agents granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) or AMD3100. We engineered several oxidation-resistant IL-33 variants with equal or better in vitro activity. In vivo, these variants mobilized HSPCs and, interestingly, also hematopoietic stem cells, common lymphoid progenitor cells, and endothelial progenitor cells more efficiently than wild-type IL-33 or G-CSF. We then engineered an IL-33-Fc fusion molecule, a single dose of which was sufficient to significantly increase the mobilization of HSPCs after 4 days. In conclusion, our findings suggest that long-acting, oxidation-resistant IL-33 may be a novel approach for HSPC transplantation. IL-33-mobilized HSPCs differ from cells mobilized with G-CSF and AMD3100, and it is possible that these differences may result in better transplantation outcomes.

RESUMO

The aim of this study is to explore the effect progranulin (PGRN) has on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and the NF-κB activation in reactive astrocytes found in rat models with focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were grouped into the sham, I/R, PGRN-high dose, PGRN-low dose, and negative control (NC) groups. TTC staining was applied in order to detect the cerebral infarction volume, a TUNEL assay to detect the apoptosis rate of neurons, an ELISA to measure MDA, SOD, iNOS, LDH, TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6, and IL-10 levels, and both RT-qPCR and western blotting methods in order to detect PGRN, GFAP, GRP78, CHOP, and NF-κB p65 expressions. The astrocytes (AST) cells were then assigned into the normal, I/R, negative control (NC), PGRN-high dose, and PGRN-low dose groups. After completing the transfection process, the proliferative capacity of AST cells was detected by use of the CCK-8 assay. Both the in vivo and in vitro results, in comparison with the I/R and the NC groups, the PGRN-high dose and PGRN-low dose groups both presented a decrease in cerebral infarction volume, apoptosis rate of neurons, MDA, LDH, iNOS, TNF-α, IL-1ß, IL-6 levels, and GFAP, GRP78, CHOP, NF-κB p65 expressions, and an increase in SOD, IL-10, and PGRN levels as well as cell proliferation depending on dosage. Based on our results, we came to the confirmation that PGRN can reduce neuronal apoptosis by mitigating ER stress in the reactive astrocytes as well as downregulating the inflammatory levels by suppressing the NF-κB signaling pathway.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: It is usually difficult to obtain a good view of the dissection plane during esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of clip traction in ESD for the treatment of early esophageal carcinoma (EEC) or precancerous lesions. METHODS: This is a case-matched comparative study. We selected 100 EEC patients who had undergone ESD. Fifty cases underwent ESD without clip traction (non-clip group), and 50 cases underwent ESD with clip traction (clip group). The patient-related variables, dissection time, data regarding muscularis propria injury, etc. were statistically analyzed. RESULTS: ESD was successful in all cases without complication. There were no significant differences between the two groups with respect to age, gender, the longitudinal diameter of the lesions, etc. Wide visual field exposure of the submucosal tissue below the lesion was obtained by applying clip traction. The dissection time of ESD was shorter in the clip group than in the non-clip group [22.02 (6.77) min vs 26.48 (12.56); P = 0.018] when the extent of lesion was less than half of the circumference of the esophagus; otherwise, there was no difference between the two groups (P = 0.252). Moreover, the muscularis propria injuries in the clip group were obviously less than the non-clip group (10 vs 30 %, P = 0.007). CONCLUSION: Clip traction can decrease the rate of muscularis propria injury and shorten the dissection time. It is recommended as a safe and effective auxiliary procedure for the treatment of esophageal ESD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Nowadays, there are few reports indicating whether early esophageal cancers (EsC) with near-circumferential lesions are still appropriate for the endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) procedure. METHODS: Between November 2009 and December 2013, a total of 40 patients with early esophageal cancers were treated with ESD. The characteristics of the patients, the ESD procedure variables, the rates of en bloc resection, and the major complications were evaluated. The outcomes listed were reliably followed up, and postoperative endoscopic balloon dilation was conducted to treat the esophageal strictures. RESULTS: A total of 40 patients with superficial esophageal cancers were treated with ESD procedure. The extent of the lesions as a proportion of the whole circumference of the esophageal lumen ranged from three-quarters (18/40) to four-fifths (4/40) and complete circumference (18/40). The median longitudinal diameter of the lesions was 50 mm. The median procedure time was 92.5 min (range, 70-125 min). The en bloc resection rate was 100 % (40/40). Immediate bleeding, perforation, and postoperative stenosis were noted in 7.5 (3/40), 7.5 (3/40), and 45 % (18/40) of the patients. The median number of endoscopic balloon dilations (EBDs) was 4 (range 1-14). Additional surgical treatment was performed in 2 cases, and local recurrence was detected in 1 patient (2.5 %). 2 patients (5 %) died of EsC 3 months after ESD. CONCLUSIONS: These data will greatly expand the criteria for the use of ESD in esophageal cancer and increase the number of patients eligible for endoscopic treatment and the acceptance of the ESD procedure.

RESUMO

With simulation of absorption spectra in THz region based on quantum-chemical calculation, the THz absorption features of target materials can be assigned with theoretical normal vibration modes. This is necessary for deeply understanding the origin of THz absorption spectra. The reliabilities of simulation results mainly depend on the initial structures and theoretical methods used throughout the calculation. In our study, we utilized THz-TDS to obtain the THz absorption spectrum of solid-state L-glutamine. Then three quantum-chemical calculation schemes with different initial structures commonly used in previous studies were proposed to study the inter-molecular interactions' contribution to the THz absorption of glutamine, containing monomer structure, dimer structure and crystal unit cell structure. After structure optimization and vibration modes' calculation based on density functional theory, the calculation results were converted to absorption spectra by Lorentzian line shape function for visual comparison with experimental spectra. The result of dimmer structure is better than monomer structure in number of absorption features while worse than crystal unit cell structure in position of absorption peaks. With the most reliable simulation result from crystal unit cell calculation, we successfully assigned all three experimental absorption peaks of glutamine ranged from 0.3 to 2.6 THz with overall vibration modes. Our study reveals that the crystal unit cell should be used as initial structure during theoretical simulation of solid-state samples' THz absorption spectrum which comprehensively considers not only the intra-molecular interactions but also inter-molecular interactions.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS: Delayed perforation is a rare complication of therapeutic colonoscopy, and it is severe and sometimes lethal. This paper reports on a new minimally invasive method for the treatment of delayed colonic perforation. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Three patients with delayed colonic perforation underwent the therapy, which involved three steps: (1) closure with endoclips and loop, (2) overtube placement, and (3) antibiotic wash through a nasobiliary tube. RESULTS: The procedure was successful in all three patients and no recurrence was observed during 5 - 41 months of follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Although this study involved only a small number of patients and no control arm, the method involving an overtube appears to be a feasible and effective endoscopic treatment for delayed colonic perforation.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the efficacy of integrative medical sequential method in treating cerebral palsy (CP) children's intelligence development, muscular tension, serum interleukin 6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha). METHODS: Totally 111 CP children were randomly assigned to the control group (50 cases) and the treatment group (61 cases). All patients received comprehensive rehabilitation training and intravenous dripping of Monosialotetrahexosylganglioside Sodium Injection for 10 days. But those in the treatment group additionally received Chinese medical enema for brain resuscitation, relieving rigidity of muscles and activating collaterals for 14 days. Then they started another medication cycle and lasted for a total of 6 cycles. Serum IL-6 levels and TNF-alpha contents were determined before treatment. Scoring for muscular tension, Gesell score for intelligence development, contents of serum IL-6 and TNF-alpha were assessed before and after treatment in the two groups. RESULTS: Compared with before treatment in this group, muscular tension, Gesell scores for intelligence development all decreased in the two groups (P < 0.05). As for inter-group comparison, the decrement was more obvious in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.05). The total effective rate was 86.9% in the treatment group and 76.0% in the control group (P < 0.05). The contents of IL-6 and TNF-alpha were obviously reduced in the treatment group and the control group after treatment (P < 0.01). The decrement was more obvious in the treatment group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The two treatment methods were effective for CP children, but the efficacy was superior in the treatment group than in the control group, indicating integrative medical methods could play a synergistic effect and optimize the treatment program for CP.

RESUMO

Using THz-TDS to extract the absorption spectrum of a sample is an important branch of various THz applications. Basically, we believe that the THz radiation scatters from sample particles, leading to an obvious baseline increasing with frequencies in its absorption spectrum. The baseline will affect the measurement accuracy due to ambiguous height and pattern of the spectrum. The authors should try to remove the baseline, and eliminate the effects of scattering. In the present paper, we investigated the causes of baselines, reviewed some of scatter mitigating methods and summarized some of research aspects in the future. In order to validate the correctness of these methods, we designed a series of experiments to compare the computational accuracy of molar concentration. The result indicated that the computational accuracy of molar concentration can be improved, which can be the basis of quantitative analysis in further researches. Finally, with comprehensive experimental results, we presented further research directions on THz absorption spectrum that is needed for the removal of scattering effects.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To research the dynamic accumulation of ginsenosides Rg1, Re, Rb1, Rg2, Rc, Rb2, Rb3, Rd, Rg3 and pseudo-ginsenosides F11,RT5, which was grown from one- to five-year-old and harvested from May to September of Panax quinquefolium root in Canada. METHODS: RP-HPLC-ELSD was adopted. The analysis was performed on a Dimaonsil C18 (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) column, the mobile phase was acetonitrile (A)-deionized water (B) in gradient elution mode. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min and column temperature was set at 30 °C. The carrier gas was nitrogen with flow rate of 2.8 L/min, the drift tube temperature was 100 °C, and the injection volume was 10 µL. The principle component analysis and cluster analysis of SPSS software (version 19.0) were conducted for the data analysis. RESULTS: The RP-HPLC-ELSD method for determining simultaneously nine ginsenosides and two pseudo-ginsenosides was established. The total content of ginsenosides of one- to two-year-old was low and increased from May to September in each year. That of three- to five-year-old declined from June to July and increased from August, and was the highest in September of three- to five-year-old samples. The total content from September of three-year-old samples was similar. The content of nine ginsenosides and two pseudo-ginsenosides was relatively high in all the samples except ginsenoside Rc, which wasn't determined in some samples. The ginsenosides Rd, Rb3 and pseudo-ginsenoside F11 were higher than others. The principle component analysis results showed that ginsenosides Rg1, Re, Rb1, Rc, Rb2, Rb3, Rg3 and pseudo-ginsenosides F11,RT5 could be the characteristic ginsenosides of Panax quinquefolium root in Canada. The cluster analysis indicated that the chemical constituent and dynamic accumulation of ginsenosides of one- to two-year-old was similar except the sample of July of four-year-old and there was no obvious difference of three- to five-year-old. CONCLUSION: With the consideration of the content of ginsenoside, cultivation cost of four- to five-year-old, and risk of waterlogging and plant diseases, it is suggested that Panax quinquefolium root from September of three-year-old can be regarded as the same quality.

RESUMO

The influence on 10 kinds of ginsensides of different processed methods of Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was discussed. White Panacis Quinquefolii Radix (sliced and dried at -80 °C), red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix( steamed, sliced and dried at -80 °C) and commercial Radix Panacis Quinquefolii (dried by electric blast air) processed by different methods. HPLC-PDA-ESI- MS method was established before by our team. Ten kinds of ginsenosides of them were determined. The content of total ginsenosides were as follow: commercial Panacis Quinquefolii Radix > white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix > red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix. Compared with white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix, the content of Re, Rc, Rb3 and Rb2 of Red Radix Panacis Quinquefolii decreased but increased that of Rg,, Rb1. Both Rg2 and Rg, were not found in white Panacis Quinquefolii Radix and commercial Panacis Quinquefolii Radix by PDA detector, and low response in ESI-MS, while red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was to the high content that of 0. 027% and 0.040 1%. The constituent of RA0 of red Panacis Quinquefolii Radix was higher than the other two. After Panacis Quinquefolii Radix processed, the kind and content of ginsensides were significantly changed. The constituent of some kinds of ginsensides was increased and some decreased. Rf was not found in all Panacis Quinquefolii Radix samples which were consistent with the former documents.

RESUMO

Exposure to metals increases the risk of many diseases and has become a public health concern. However, few studies have focused on the effect of metal on abdominal aortic calcification (AAC), especially the combined effects of metal mixtures. In this study, we aim to investigate the combined effect of metals on AAC risk and determine the key components in the multiple metals. We tried to investigate the relationship between multiple metal exposure and AAC risk. Fourteen urinary metals were analyzed with five statistical models as follows: generalized linear regression, weighted quantile sum regression (WQS), quantile g-computation (Qgcomp), and Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) models. A total of 838 participants were involved, of whom 241 (28.8%) had AAC. After adjusting for covariates, in multiple metal exposure logistic regression, cadmium (Cd) (OR = 1.364, 95% CI = 1.035-1.797) was positively associated with AAC risk, while cobalt (Co) (OR = 0.631, 95% CI = 0.438-0.908) was negatively associated with AAC risk. A significant positive effect between multiple metal exposure and AAC risk was observed in WQS (OR = 2.090; 95% CI = 1.280-3.420, P < 0.01), Qgcomp (OR = 1.522, 95% CI = 1.012-2.290, P < 0.05), and BKMR models. It was found that the positive association may be driven primarily by Cd, lead (Pb), uranium (U), and tungsten (W). Subgroups analysis showed the association was more significant in participants with BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2, abdominal obesity, drinking, and smoking. Our study shows that exposure to multiple metals increases the risk of AAC in adults aged ≥ 40 years in the USA and that Cd, Pb, U, and W are the main contributors. The association is stronger in participants who are obese, smoker, or drinker.

RESUMO

Background: It is crucial to distinguish unstable from stable intracranial aneurysms (IAs) as early as possible to derive optimal clinical decision-making for further treatment or follow-up. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of a deep learning model (DLM) in identifying unstable IAs from computed tomography angiography (CTA) images and to compare its discriminatory ability with that of a conventional logistic regression model (LRM). Methods: From August 2011 to May 2021, a total of 1,049 patients with 681 unstable IAs and 556 stable IAs were retrospectively analyzed. IAs were randomly divided into training (64%), internal validation (16%), and test sets (20%). Convolutional neural network (CNN) analysis and conventional logistic regression (LR) were used to predict which IAs were unstable. The area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were calculated to evaluate the discriminating ability of the models. One hundred and ninety-seven patients with 229 IAs from Banan Hospital were used for external validation sets. Results: The conventional LRM showed 11 unstable risk factors, including clinical and IA characteristics. The LRM had an AUC of 0.963 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.941-0.986], a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy on the external validation set of 0.922, 0.906, and 0.913, respectively, in predicting unstable IAs. In predicting unstable IAs, the DLM had an AUC of 0.771 (95% CI: 0.582-0.960), a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy on the external validation set of 0.694, 0.929, and 0.782, respectively. Conclusions: The CNN-based DLM applied to CTA images did not outperform the conventional LRM in predicting unstable IAs. The patient clinical and IA morphological parameters remain critical factors for ensuring IA stability. Further studies are needed to enhance the diagnostic accuracy.
