RESUMO

Often differential diagnosis between AL and ATTR amyloidosis is difficult. Concerning ATTR, sensitive diagnostic tool, as diphosphonate scintigraphy, was validated, instead of no imaging approach is as accurate in AL. Cardiac ultrasound and circulating biomarkers may raise the clinical suspicion but biopsy remains the only option for diagnosis. We aimed to explore the sensitivity of 18F-Florbetaben PET respect to blood tests or periumbilical fat (POF), cardiac, bone marrow (BM) or other tissues biopsies in a cohort of 33 patients.

RESUMO

Fever of unknown origin is defined as a body temperature greater than 38.3°C lasting more than three weeks for which the cause could not be found within one week of hospital admission. More than 200 causes have been reported, and these can be classified into four categories: infections, inflammatory diseases, oncologic processes, and miscellaneous conditions. Noninvasive diagnostic techniques are used in 69.2% of cases and invasive techniques in 30.8%. Structural imaging techniques show the morphological changes from infectious, inflammatory, and tumor-related processes, but they do not allow the detection of the early changes brought about by these processes. The metabolic information provided by 18F-FDG PET/CT has a promising role in these patients. 18F-FDG uptake is based on the cells' use of glucose as a source of energy, so it can be observed in infectious, inflammatory, and tumor-related processes. The established non-oncologic indications for 18F-FDG PET/CT are sarcoidosis, osteomyelitis, spondylodiscitis, fever of unknown origin, and vasculitis, which together account for more than 85% of studies.

RESUMO

The introduction of PET/CT scanners in clinical practice in 1998 has improved care for oncologic patients throughout the clinical pathway, from the initial diagnosis of disease through the evaluation of the response to treatment to screening for possible recurrence. The CT component of a PET/CT study is used to correct the attenuation of PET studies; CT also provides anatomic information about the distribution of the radiotracer. CT is especially useful in situations where PET alone can lead to false positives and false negatives, and CT thereby improves the diagnostic performance of PET. The use of intravenous or oral contrast agents and optimal CT protocols have improved the detection and characterization of lesions. However, there are circumstances in which the systematic use of contrast agents is not justified. The standard acquisition in PET/CT scanners is the whole body protocol, but this can lead to artifacts due to the position of patients and respiratory movements between the CT and PET acquisitions. This article discusses these aspects from a constructive perspective with the aim of maximizing the diagnostic potential of PET/CT and providing better care for patients.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA), surgical resection is the only curative treatment, but due to its late clinical presentation only 15-25% patients are candidates for curative resection. The aim of this prospective, single-center study is to determine the diagnostic utility of preoperative PET-CT for early detection of PDA and early panIN lesions. METHODS: We studied the histopathological features of PDA and different panIN lesions in 139 surgical samples from patients undergoing pancreatic resection (from 2010-2014), comparing these results with preoperative PET-CT and MDCT study. For tumor diagnosis in PET-CT maximum standard SUV 2.5 was used. Pancreatic baseline SUVmax is the maximum uptake of the radiotracer 18-2FDG on the ROI curve determined for the area of the normal pancreas after pathological reassessment with areas not affected by tumours or preneoplastic lesions. Tumour Uptake Index is the ratio between the tumour SUVmax and pancreatic baseline SUVmax. RESULTS: Using an standard maximum SUV value of 2.5, PET-CT sensitivity was 77.7% (108 of the 139 cases) against 75.5% (105 of the 139 cases) of MDCT. But when we combined this value with maximum SUV of normal pancreatic tissue from each patient, PET-CT sensitivity improved its value to 94.9%. CONCLUSION: A combination of studies of PET-CT in tumor and non-tumor tissue of each patient might be a very useful diagnostic tool not only for preoperative diagnosis of PDA, but also for early panIN lesions.

RESUMO

The development of molecular and functional imaging with new imaging techniques such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography (PET) among others, has greatly improved the detection of tumors, tumor staging, and the detection of possible recurrences. Furthermore, the combination of these different imaging modalities and the continual development of radiotracers for PET have advanced our understanding and knowledge of the different pathophysiological processes in cancer, thereby helping to make treatment more efficacious, improving patients' quality of life, and increasing survival. PET is one of the imaging techniques that has attracted the most interest in recent years for its diagnostic capabilities. Its ability to anatomically locate pathologic foci of metabolic activity has revolutionized the detection and staging of many tumors, exponentially broadening its potential indications not only in oncology but also in other fields such as cardiology, neurology, and inflammatory and infectious diseases.

RESUMO

Nuclear Medicine is a medical specialty that allows modern diagnostics and treatments using radiopharmaceuticals original radiotracers (drugs linked to a radioactive isotope). In Europe, radiopharmaceuticals are considered a special group of drugs and thus their preparation and use are regulated by a set of policies that have been adopted by individual member countries. The radiopharmaceuticals used in diagnostic examinations are administered in very small doses. So, in general, they have no pharmacological action, side effects or serious adverse reactions. The biggest problem associated with their use are the alterations in their biodistribution that may cause diagnostic errors. Nuclear Medicine is growing considerably influenced by the appearance and development of new radiopharmaceuticals in both the diagnostic and therapeutic fields and primarily to the impact of new multimodality imaging techniques (SPECT-CT, PET-CT, PET-MRI, etc.). It's mandatory to know the limitations of these techniques, distribution and eventual physiological alterations of radiopharmaceuticals, contraindications and adverse reactions of radiological contrasts, and the possible interference of both.

RESUMO

Neoplasms are composed of malignant tumor cells, which are surrounded by other non-tumor cellular elements, in what has been defined as the microenvironment or tumor stroma. Evidence on the importance of the tumor microenvironment has not stopped growing in recent years. It plays a central role in cell proliferation, tissue invasion, angiogenesis and cell migration. The paradigm is the family of new FAPI radiopharmaceuticals that show the density of the fibroblast activation protein (FAP) which is overexpressed in the cell membrane of activated cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF), and its presence is related to poor prognosis. This educational document includes the procedure for performing PET/CT FAPI, biodistribution and the main potentially clinical applications in oncology to date.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was evaluate the diagnostic performance of [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18F]FDG PET/CT in patients with histologically proven neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), as well as the correlation of the visualized findings with the tumor grade. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We included 50 patients with NETs who underwent both [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18F]FDG PET/TC. The pooled sensitivity of both scans was compared, as well as [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18F]FDG for each tumor grade (grade 1/G1, grade 2/G2 and grade 3/G3). Also, the sensitivity of [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18F]FDG as a function of the continuous variable Ki-67 was investigated. Finally, the number of lesions detected by both PET radiopharmaceuticals for each tumor grade was compared. RESULTS: The pooled sensitivity of both PET/CT (96%) was higher than [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC (84%) and [18F]FDG (44%) separately, with statistically significant differences. The sensitivity of [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC was higher than [18F]FDG in both G1 (p = 0.004) and G2 (p < 0.001). In G3 the performance of both scans detected disease in 100% of this subgroup. The sensitivity of [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC and [18F]FDG PET/CT correlated significantly with the Ki-67 proliferative index. In G2 patients the number of lesions detected with [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TOC was higher than [18F]FDG. CONCLUSIONS: The performance of both PET/CT, particularly in G2 and G3, demonstrates the molecular heterogeneity of metastatic NETs and contributes to the selection of a more appropriate treatment, particularly in those high-grade patients who may benefit from radionuclide therapy (PRRT).

RESUMO

The application of PET/CT with radiopharmaceuticals targeting PSMA is significantly transforming the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies of patients with prostate cancer. In Spain, the availability and access to positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals targeting Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) have significantly changed in recent months. These changes are affecting their use in diagnostic procedures. As a result, its use within diagnostic protocols for patients with prostate cancer is undergoing significant modifications. In this collective and cooperative document, the authors have selected the most robust evidence accumulated to date to generate a clinical guide to achieve appropriate use of this technology. A format that presents the most frequent clinical situations and the patient profiles in which PSMA PET/CT plays a significant role or will do so in the immediate future has been chosen. It should be taken into account that regulatory restrictions mediate the current indications for its use in Spain, as well as its current cost and the production capacity of radiopharmaceuticals. The guideline presents a review of the established methodology for optimized imaging with each of the radiopharmaceutical variants targeting PSMA and recommendations for structured and accurate reporting of metabolic findings in combination with CT.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To compare the usefulness of MRI and PET/CT in nodal staging (N) of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Retrospective study of patients with LARC, who completed their initial staging with PET/CT, between January-20 and March-23. Regional nodes were assessed, and N was determined using both techniques according to TNM criteria. Concordance between MRI and PET/CT was analyzed. The accuracy of both techniques was calculated for those patients who underwent direct surgery. Non-regional pelvic lymph nodes were evaluated by both modalities. RESULTS: Among the 73 patients, 48 were ultimately diagnosed with a locally advanced stage. Of these, 39 underwent neoadjuvant treatment (chemoradiotherapy) followed by surgery, and 9 direct surgery. In 25, the PET/CT extension study revealed distant disease, leading to systemic treatment. Weak concordance was observed between MRI and PET/CT in determining N (k=0.286; p<0.005). Out of 73 patients, 31(42%) exhibited concordance, and 42(58%) showed discordance. In 83% of the discordant cases, MRI overstaged compared to PET/CT, with 17 cases indicating nodal involvement (N+) by MRI and N0 by PET/CT. Diagnostic accuracy was 78% for both techniques. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 80%, 75%, 80%, and 75% for MRI, and 60%, 100%, 100%, and 67%, for PET/CT. PET/CT identified pelvic metastatic adenopathies in 8 patients that were not visible/doubtful by MRI. CONCLUSIONS: In the initial nodal staging of rectal cancer MRI overstages relative to PET/CT. Both modalities are complementary, PET/CT offers higher specificity and MRI higher sensitivity.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and readability of responses generated by two popular AI-chatbots, 'ChatGPT-4.0' and 'Google Gemini', to potential patient questions about PET/CT scans. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty potential questions for each of [18F]FDG and [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-SSTR PET/CT, and twenty-nine potential questions for [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT were asked separately to ChatGPT-4 and Gemini in May 2024. The responses were evaluated for reliability and readability using the modified DISCERN (mDISCERN) scale, Flesch Reading Ease (FRE), Gunning Fog Index (GFI), and Flesch-Kincaid Reading Grade Level (FKRGL). The inter-rater reliability of mDISCERN scores provided by three raters (ChatGPT-4, Gemini, and a nuclear medicine physician) for the responses was assessed. RESULTS: The median [min-max] mDISCERN scores reviewed by the physician for responses about FDG, PSMA and DOTA PET/CT scans were 3.5 [2-4], 3 [3-4], 3 [3-4] for ChatPT-4 and 4 [2-5], 4 [2-5], 3.5 [3-5] for Gemini, respectively. The mDISCERN scores assessed using ChatGPT-4 for answers about FDG, PSMA, and DOTA-SSTR PET/CT scans were 3.5 [3-5], 3 [3-4], 3 [2-3] for ChatGPT-4, and 4 [3-5], 4 [3-5], 4 [3-5] for Gemini, respectively. The mDISCERN scores evaluated using Gemini for responses FDG, PSMA, and DOTA-SSTR PET/CTs were 3 [2-4], 2 [2-4], 3 [2-4] for ChatGPT-4, and 3 [2-5], 3 [1-5], 3 [2-5] for Gemini, respectively. The inter-rater reliability correlation coefficient of mDISCERN scores for ChatGPT-4 responses about FDG, PSMA, and DOTA-SSTR PET/CT scans were 0.629 (95% CI = 0,32-0,812), 0.707 (95% CI = 0.458-0.853) and 0.738 (95% CI = 0.519-0.866), respectively (p < 0.001). The correlation coefficient of mDISCERN scores for Gemini responses about FDG, PSMA, and DOTA-SSTR PET/CT scans were 0.824 (95% CI = 0.677-0.910), 0.881 (95% CI = 0.78-0.94) and 0.847 (95% CI = 0.719-0.922), respectively (p < 0.001). The mDISCERN scores assessed by ChatGPT-4, Gemini, and the physician showed that the chatbots' responses about all PET/CT scans had moderate to good statistical agreement according to the inter-rater reliability correlation coefficient (p < 0,001). There was a statistically significant difference in all readability scores (FKRGL, GFI, and FRE) of ChatGPT-4 and Gemini responses about PET/CT scans (p < 0,001). Gemini responses were shorter and had better readability scores than ChatGPT-4 responses. CONCLUSION: There was an acceptable level of agreement between raters for the mDISCERN score, indicating agreement with the overall reliability of the responses. However, the information provided by AI-chatbots cannot be easily read by the public.

RESUMO

AIM: To determine the usefulness of neutrophil/lymphocyte (N/L) and platelet/lymphocyte (P/L) ratios as well as quantitative [18F]FDG PET/CT parameters as prognostic factors for overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HyN). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Sixty-six patients (56 men) diagnosed with HyN carcinoma were retrospectively assessed over an 8-year interval. Maximum SUV (SUVmax), metabolic tumour volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) parameters were determined from the PET/CT study at diagnosis. After treatment with chemoradiotherapy, patient survival was assessed. The Cox regression model and the Kaplan-Meier method were used to analyse prognostic factors and survival curves. RESULTS: Median follow-up was 50.4 months, with 39 recurrences-progressions and 39 deaths. In the univariate analysis, metabolic parameters, except SUVmax, were predictive factors for all three survivals and the two blood parameters were predictive for OS and EFS. TLG was the only predictive factor in the multivariate analysis. The three survival curves were significantly different for the metabolic parameters and the OS curve for the N/L ratio. Correlations were seen between N/L ratio, MTV and TLG. No correlations were demonstrated between P/L ratio and metabolic parameters. CONCLUSION: The use of haematological and metabolic markers would allow to identify patients with a high risk of recurrences and por survival and to individualise treatment by applying more aggressive therapies.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study was designed to determine the potential prognostic value of radiomic texture analysis and metabolic-volumetric parameters obtained from positron emission tomography (PET) in primary mass and metastatic hilar/mediastinal lymph nodes in stage 2-3 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS: Images of patients diagnosed with stage 2-3 NSCLC who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging for staging up to 4 weeks before the start of treatment were evaluated using LIFEx software. Volume of interest (VOI) was generated from the primary tumor and metastatic lymph node separately, and volumetric and textural features were obtained from these VOIs. The relationship between the parameters obtained from PET of primary mass and the metastatic hilar/mediastinal lymph nodes with overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) was analyzed. RESULTS: When radiomic features, gender and stage obtained from lymph nodes were evaluated by Cox regression analysis; GLCM_correlation (p: 0.033, HR: 4,559, 1.660-12.521, 95% CI), gender and stage were determined as prognostic factors predicting OS. In predicting PFS; stage, smoking and lymph node MTV (p: 0.033, HR: 1.008, 1.001-1.016, 95% CI) were determined as prognostic factors. However, the radiomic feature of the primary tumor could not show a significant relationship with either OS or PFS. CONCLUSIONS: In a retrospective cohort of NSCLC patients with Stage 2 and 3 disease, volumetric and radiomic texture characteristics obtained from metastatic lymph nodes were associated with PFS and OS. Tumor heterogeneity, defined by radiomic texture features of 18 F-FDG PET/CT images, may provide complementary prognostic value in NSCLC.

RESUMO

Preoperative localization of parathyroid pathology, generally a parathyroid adenoma, can be difficult in some cases due to the anatomical variants that these glands present. The objective of this review is to analyse the different imaging techniques used for preoperative localization of parathyroid pathology (scintigraphy, ultrasound, CT, MRI and PET). There is great variability between the different tests for the preoperative localization of parathyroid pathology. The importance of knowing the different diagnostic options lies in the need to choose the most suitable test at each moment and for each patient for an adequate management of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHP) with surgical criteria.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the predictive potential of the maximum standardized uptake value(SUVmax) value of intraprostatic tumors derived from preoperative 68Ga-PSMA-I&T PET/CT (SUVT), and its ratios to SUVmax in the liver (SUVTLR) and parotid gland (SUVTPR) with respect to histopathological findings. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data from patients who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer (PC) at our clinic between 2017 and 2020 were assessed. Patients with a secondary malignancy, a history of transurethral prostate resection, prior treatment for PC, or who received salvage RP were excluded. Whole-body images obtained using the same device, as per the guidelines, were reviewed by two nuclear medicine specialists with more than a decade of experience to reach a consensus for each lesion. The relationships between age, PSA, Prostate Volume, clinical T stage, biopsy International Society of Urological Pathology grade (ISUP), D'amico risk group, intraprostatic tumor volume (HPTV) identified in the final histopathological specimen review, HP-ISUP grade, seminal vesicle invasion (SVI), extracapsular invasion (ECI), positive surgical margine (PSM), SUVT, SUVTLR, and SUVTPR were analyzed. RESULTS: The mean age of the 64 included patients was 64.1 ±â€¯5.3. A statistically significant correlation was found between SUVT, SUVTLR, SUVTPR values, and histopathologic stage parameters, such as biopsy ISUP, D'amico Risk Classification, HP-ISUP, HPTV (p < 0.05). PSMATV, SUVT, and SUVTLR were statistically significant predictors of extracapsular invasion, while PSA, PSMATV, and SUVTLR were significant predictors of SVI (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The standardized SUVT, SUVTLR, and SUVTPR values could be employed as noninvasive markers to assist in predicting postoperative histopathological findings, particularly ECI, SVI, and PSM.

RESUMO

Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) is an inflammatory joint disease that presents in patients older than 50 years with prolonged morning pain and stiffness in the shoulder and hip joints and neck. The lack of specific clinical findings, laboratory signs, biomarkers and established imaging methods makes it difficult to diagnose patients with this disease. 18F-FDG PET/CT is a functional imaging technique that is an established tool in oncology and has also proven useful in the field of inflammatory diseases. The aim of this paper is to present literature evidence on the use of molecular imaging methods such as PET/CT for early diagnosis, assessment of disease activity and therapeutic response in PMR. At the same time, the advantages, disadvantages and contraindications of other methods are considered.

RESUMO

Nuclear medicine has become an indispensable discipline in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal infections. Radionuclide tests serve as a valuable diagnostic tool for patients suspected of having osteomyelitis, spondylodiscitis, or prosthetic joint infections. The choice of the most suitable imaging modality depends on various factors, including the affected area, potential extra osseous involvement, or the impact of previous bone/joint conditions. This review provides an update on the use of conventional radionuclide imaging tests and recent advancements in fusion imaging scans for the differential diagnosis of musculoskeletal infections. Furthermore, it examines the role of radionuclide scans in monitoring treatment responses and explores current trends in their application. We anticipate that this update will be of significant interest to internists, rheumatologists, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation physicians, and other specialists involved in musculoskeletal pathology.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To assess the feasibility of performing selective parathyroidectomy without intraoperative parathyroid hormone (PTHio) determination when first-line preoperative localization tests (ultrasonography and [99mTc]Tc-MIBI) are negative and/or discordant, and second-line [18F]F-Colina PET-CT, is positive. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective cohort study, including patients with negative or discordant ultrasound and MIBI scans and positive [18F]F-Colina PET-CT, who underwent selective parathyroidectomy between 2019 and 2022. Groups were compared based on PTHio determination. Study variables were: gender, mean age, biochemical cure assessed by PTH value (pg/mL) and corrected calcium by albumin (mg/dL) at 6 months post-surgery follow-up, and histopathological analysis. RESULTS: The final sample included 42 patients. At 6 months post-surgery, in the PTHio group (20 patients), PTH values were 64.50 pg/mL and calcium 9.30 pg/mL, with 19 adenomas and 1 hyperplasia found. In the non-PTHio group (22 patients), PTH values were 61 pg/mL and calcium 9.37 pg/mL, with 22 adenomas found. No statistically significant differences were found between both groups. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results obtained in our patient cohort, selective parathyroidectomy could be considered with negative or discordant first-line tests and positive [18F]F-Colina PET-CT, without intraoperative PTH determination.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: To reach the diagnosis of giant cell arteritis (GCA), signs, symptoms, laboratory tests, imaging findings, and occasionally anatomopathological results from temporal artery biopsy are evaluated. This study describes the results of an algorithm analysis based on clinical and ultrasound evaluation of patients with suspected GCA, highlighting its diagnostic utility by contrasting its use in different clinical suspicion scenarios. METHOD: Prospective multicenter study evaluating patients referred with suspected GCA through a preferential circuit (fast track), grouping them according to low or high clinical suspicion of GCA. Each of these scenarios is evaluated by biopsy and ultrasound for all patients, resulting in positive, indeterminate, or negative outcomes, yielding six possible groups. Potential areas of improvement are explored, emphasizing that, following a negative or indeterminate ultrasound, 18-FDG-PET-CT could be recommended. We analyze the results and application of a diagnostic algorithm, confirming its efficiency and applicability based on whether there is high or low clinical suspicion. RESULTS: Sixty-nine patients (41 in the high suspicion group and 28 in the low suspicion group). There were 41 new diagnoses of GCA: 35 in the high suspicion group and 6 in the low suspicion group. Using ultrasound alone, the initial algorithm has an overall diagnostic efficiency of 72.5%, which improves to 80.5% when including 18F-FDG-PET/CT. The negative predictive value of ultrasound in patients with low clinical suspicion is 84.6%, and the positive predictive value of ultrasound in patients with high suspicion is 100%, improving sensitivity from 57.1% to 80.8% with 18F-FDG-PET/CT in this scenario. Temporal artery biopsy was performed on all patients, with no differences in sensitivity or specificity compared to ultrasound. In cases where all three tests - ultrasound, biopsy, and 18F-FDG-PET/CT - are performed, sensitivity increases to 92.3% in patients with high clinical suspicion. CONCLUSION: In situations of high clinical suspicion, the algorithm provides sufficient information for the diagnosis of GCA if ultrasound is positive. A negative ultrasound is sufficient to rule out the diagnosis in the context of low clinical suspicion. 18-FDG-PET-CT may be useful in patients with high suspicion and negative or indeterminate ultrasound results.

RESUMO

AIM: To know the current use of the PET/CT technology applied in the field of endocrinology, the Endocrinology Working Group of SEMNIM proposed conducting a survey. The objective was to obtain a snapshot of the use of PET/CT in nuclear endocrinology, to know if it is being used properly and detect possible needs. MATERIAL AND METHODS: During the first quarter of 2022, we analyzed the data obtained from a survey that was distributed through different social networks throughout the second half of 2021. The survey asked for the use of the different PET/CT techniques available in Spain in different endocrinological pathologies like differentiated thyroid carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma, neuroendocrine tumors and hyperparathyroidism. RESULTS: A total of 15 centers responded to the survey. A percentage of 79 of hospitals used 18F-FDG PET/CT in the diagnosis and/or follow-up of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (mean annual studies: 36.9; range 10-100); 85% used 18F-DOPA PET/CT for the study of biochemical recurrence of medullary thyroid carcinoma (mean annual studies: 7.8; range 2-20); 77% used 18F-DOPA PET/CT for the study of neuroendocrine tumors: 77% used 18F-DOPA PET/CT (mean of 10 scans per year; range 2-30) and 69% used 68Ga-DOTA-SA (mean of 24.7 studies per year; range 2-127); 79% used 18F-choline PET/CT for the study of hyperparathyroidism (mean of 30.1 annual studies; range 10-120). CONCLUSIONS: We detected that the use of the PET/CT technique in endocrinology is not yet widespread, however, we saw that the indications in which it is used are, in general, those reported in the different consensus.
