BACKGROUND: Maintaining a healthy body weight and reaching long-term dietary goals requires ongoing self-monitoring and behavioral adjustments. How individuals respond to successes and failures is described in models of self-regulation: while cybernetic models propose that failures lead to increased self-regulatory efforts and successes permit a reduction of such efforts, motivational models (e.g., social-cognitive theory) make opposite predictions. Here, we tested these conflicting models in an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) context and explored whether effort adjustments are related to inter-individual differences in perceived self-regulatory success in dieting (i.e., weight management). METHODS: Using linear mixed effects models, we tested in 174 diet-interested individuals whether current day dietary success or failure (e.g., on Monday) was followed by self-regulatory effort adjustment for the next day (e.g., on Tuesday) across 14 days. Success vs. failure was operationalized with two EMA items: first, whether food intake was higher vs. lower than usual and second, whether food intake was perceived as more vs. less goal-congruent than usual. Trait-level perceived self-regulatory success in dieting was measured on a questionnaire. RESULTS: Intended self-regulatory effort increased more strongly after days with dietary success (i.e., eating less than usual / rating intake as goal-congruent) than after days with dietary failure (i.e., eating more than usual / rating intake as goal-incongruent), especially in those individuals with lower scores on perceived self-regulatory success in dieting. CONCLUSIONS: Findings support mechanisms proposed by social-cognitive theory, especially in unsuccessful dieters. Thus, future dietary interventions could focus on preventing the decrease in self-regulatory effort after instances of dietary failures and thereby mitigate the potential risk that a single dietary failure initiates a downward spiral into unhealthy eating.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between parental attachment, peer attachments, and automatic thoughts with adolescent mindfulness skills in Iranian adolescents, drawing on internal working models and social cognitive theory. The data was collected from a sample of Iranian adolescents in Tehran using standardized measurement instruments previously developed by researchers. The collected data was analyzed using both simple and multiple regression analyses. The results revealed a positive and significant association between parental attachment and peer attachments with adolescent mindfulness skills. Conversely, automatic thoughts were found to have a negative impact on adolescent mindfulness skills. These findings suggest that strengthening attachments can contribute to the enhancement of mindfulness skills in adolescents, while addressing automatic thoughts is crucial in preventing the erosion of mindfulness skills. Consequently, experts can design interventions that focus on improving attachments and addressing automatic thoughts to promote adolescent mindfulness skills.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effects of group tele-exercise participation on physical activity (PA) determinants and behavior as identified by social cognitive theory (SCT) in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI). DESIGN: This clinically registered non-randomized trial [NCT05360719] used a single-group parallel mixed methods design. Quantitative and qualitative primary measures were assessed at pre-program and after 8-week intervention completion (post-program), with an additional 8-week period retention to capture quantitative assessments only. SETTING: Community. PARTICIPANTS: Individuals with chronic SCI (N=22, injury duration 2-50 years) aged 26-68 years (10 male/12 female). INTERVENTION: An 8-week group tele-exercise program for individuals with SCI consisting of biweekly 60-minute classes delivered via live Web-conferencing software. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Exercise self-efficacy (Exercise Self-efficacy Scale for SCI: ESES), outcome expectations for exercise (Multidimensional Outcome Expectations for Exercise: MOEES), weekly PA minutes measured through quantitative assessments (Leisure Time PA Questionnaire for SCI: LTPAQ), and parallel qualitative thematic analysis of focus group interview transcripts. RESULTS: Congruence between numeric and thematic findings was present for exercise self-efficacy and self-evaluative exercise outcome expectations. Improved exercise self-efficacy was influenced by exercise knowledge gained during program participation. Increased expectations of internal exercise outcomes, such as influence on psychological state and overall mood, occurred after program participation. Participant descriptions of the portability and sustainability of the program leading to added movement in everyday life were not reflected in the numeric scores of LTPAQ assessment. CONCLUSIONS: Participation in an 8-week group tele-exercise program positively affected personal determinants of PA behavior immediately after participation. Future investigations should include a control group and biophysical PA measures such as wearable digital health devices.

BACKGROUND: Ergonomic behaviors play a crucial role in preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs). To measure these behaviors, this research aimed to develop and evaluate an ergonomic behaviors tool (EBET) based on the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) among women workers on assembly lines (WwAL). METHODS: The study was conducted from December 2022 to January 2023 with a focus on the psychometric assessment of EBET. Initially, a literature review and interviews were carried out to identify crucial concepts and primary items. The questionnaire's validity was evaluated using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and the Content Validity Index (CVI). To determine the domains of the tool, construct validity was examined by administering the items to 270 eligible women. The reliability of the tool was assessed using McDonald's Omega coefficient. RESULTS: From a total of 67 primary items, 50 were confirmed. The study demonstrated good validity with CVR = 0.92 and CVI = 0.97, along with reliable results indicated by McDonald's Omega coefficient of 0.74. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) revealed ten distinct dimensions: outcome expectations, outcome expectancies, normative beliefs, perceived barriers, social support, observational learning, reinforcement, behavioral skills, self-efficacy, and intention. Together, these dimensions accounted for 66.25% of the variance in the data. Additionally, the confirmatory factor analysis results supported the presence of these ten constructs and demonstrated a satisfactory fit. CONCLUSIONS: EBET is a dependable and valid instrument for evaluating the ergonomic behaviors of workers, utilizing the principles of SCT. Researchers can employ EBET to gather data and implement suitable training interventions to enhance ergonomic behavior among WwAL. However, it is crucial to recognize that EBET may not encompass all facets of ergonomic behaviors. Therefore, it is imperative for future research to prioritize the evaluation of EBET's suitability among diverse worker populations and to consider additional dimensions of ergonomics to ensure its wider applicability and effectiveness.

BACKGROUND: The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of oral health education programs on the oral health of primary school students. METHODS: In this randomized controlled trial study, 190 elementary fifth-grade female students were chosen using the multistage cluster sampling method. In this study, the Plaque Index (PI), Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S), Community Periodontal Index (CPI), tooth brushing using fluoride toothpaste, dental flossing frequency and factors affecting them were determined according to social cognitive theory (SCT). Interventions were implemented using the play method and with the help of three pamphlets, five posters, a celebration of oral health, and the creation of a Telegram group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics indexes, t tests, paired sample t tests, chi-square tests, and Pearson correlation tests. RESULTS: The results showed that 3 months after the intervention, compared to before the intervention, the percentage of participants in the intervention group who brushed their teeth twice or more per day increased by 48.5%, and the percentage of participants who used dental floss at least once per day increased by 64.2%. The rate of gum bleeding decreased by 6.3%. The good OHI-S rate increased by 44.4%. Dental plaque decreased by 38.1%. CONCLUSION: The results demonstrated that a gamification design can be effective and useful in promoting the oral health of students. BACKGROUND: Male sex workers (MSWs), specifically cisgender men who exchange sex for money, goods, drugs, or other items of value with other cisgender men, are at high risk for HIV infection. Compared to men not engaged in sex work, MSWs are more likely to engage in frequent condomless sex with paying and non-paying sexual partners. While MSWs are often included as a subgroup of gay and bisexual men, data show that a large proportion identify as heterosexual; additionally, most MSWs do not identify as "sex workers." This places MSWs in a unique position where they may not engage with traditional HIV prevention programs, and when they do, they may not feel comfortable, leading to poor retention. Thus, HIV prevention interventions that address MSWs' unique life circumstances and provide support in exploring their sexual health options are needed. METHODS: In this protocol paper, we describe the design and procedures for a National Institute of Health-funded, randomized controlled trial testing the efficacy of "PrEPare for Work,"- a theory-based, manualized PrEP uptake and adherence intervention for MSW - using a 2-stage randomization design. Stage 1: MSWs are equally randomized to receive either the "PrEPare for Work Stage 1 intervention" (strength-based case management and facilitated PrEP linkage) or Standard of Care (SOC) to evaluate successful PrEP uptake (prescription filled) within two months post-randomization. Stage 2: Those who initiate PrEP are then equally re-randomized to receive either the "PrEPare for Work Stage 2 intervention" (1-on-1 skills training, problem-solving, and motivational interviewing adherence counseling and personalized, daily text message reminders) or SOC to assess adherence (Tenofovir concentrations in hair) over 12 months of follow up. Planned analyses will examine intervention efficacy, specific conceptual mediators, and hypothesized moderators. DISCUSSION: Based on our extensive preliminary research, multi-component, theory-informed interventions targeting this subpopulation of MSWs' unique life circumstances are urgently needed. In this study, we are evaluating whether "PrEPare for Work" can improve PrEP uptake and adherence among MSWs. If this intervention is efficacious, it would be readily disseminated to diverse community organizations that serve MSWs and possibly other community or clinic-based settings. BACKGROUND: The high psychological burden of rape, together with complications such as pregnancy and chronic conditions, is associated with an increase in mental disorders. Social cognitive theory (SCT) is an important health theory that views behavior as dynamic and influenced by environmental, behavioral and individual factors. The aim of the present research is to determine the effect of an educational intervention on post-traumatic stress disorder and social cognitive theory constructs in women who have experienced sexual assault. METHODS/DESIGN: This study is randomized, double-blind clinical trial research that will be conducted on 40 women with experience of sexual. In this research, by the intervention program based on social cognitive theory include" awareness, self-efficacy, outcome expectations and environment. Written consent will be obtained from the participants to participate in the research. Participants in the intervention group will be taught about health, hygiene, psychology and stress reduction methods in group or individual sessions according to their preference in 6 sessions of 60 min each, one session per week. A post-test will be conducted for both groups. DISCUSSION: This study provides comprehensive data on the effect of providing an educational intervention using the social cognition Theory. Social cognitive theory focuses on how patterns of behavior are learned and how they function in interaction between the individual and the environment. It seems that the use of this theory in designing the content of educational interventions can be useful and practical. BACKGROUND: Although there is growing demand for hospice care in China due to its aging population and increasing cancer rates, the sector remains slow to expand. Oncology nurses are the primary providers of hospice care, but little is known about their behaviors towards hospice care and related factors. METHODS: This cross-sectional study conveniently sampled 933 oncology nurses from six grade A tertiary hospitals in Hubei Province between January to March 2022. The questionnaire was composed of seven parts: general information (including sociodemographic and work-related information), hospice care behaviors, hospice care knowledge, hospice care attitudes, hospice care self-efficacy, hospice care outcome expectancy, and hospice care environment. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple linear regression, random forest regression, and BP neural network model analysis. RESULTS: A total of 852 questionnaires were valid. The mean score of hospice care behaviors was 50.47 ± 10.56, with a mean item score of 3.61 ± 0.75. The three highest scoring behaviors were "pain assessment of patients (4.21 ± 0.91)", "satisfying the physical and mental needs of dying patients (4.04 ± 0.92)", and "creating good relationships between the medical staff and family members (4.02 ± 0.87)". The two lowest-scoring behaviors were "proactively recommending medical institutions for hospice care to terminally ill patients and their families (2.55 ± 1.10)" and "proactively talking to patients and families about death-related topics for patients who are critically ill and cannot be reversed (2.87 ± 1.03)." Multiple linear regression, random forest regression, and BP neural network models all showed that the frequency of sharing hospice care experiences with colleagues, hospice care attitudes, hospice care self-efficacy, and hospice care environments were positively associated with hospice care behaviors. CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of hospice care behaviors among Chinese oncology nurses is generally at a moderate to high level. The results provide a basis for promoting hospice care behaviors among oncology nurses in order to improve the quality of life for terminally ill cancer patients.

The dietary behaviors of Asian American (AA) young adults, who face a growing non-communicable disease burden, are impacted by complex socio-ecological forces. Family plays a crucial role in the lifestyle behaviors of AA young adults; however, little is known on the methods, contributors, and impact of familial dietary influence. This study aims to deconstruct the mechanisms of AA young adult familial dietary influence through a multi-perspective qualitative assessment. A five-phase method of dyadic analysis adapted from past research was employed to extract nuanced insights from dyadic interviews with AA young adults and family members, and ground findings in behavioral theory (the Social Cognitive Theory, SCT). 37 interviews were conducted: 18 young adults, comprising 10 different AA ethnic subgroups, and 19 family members (10 parents, 9 siblings). Participants described dietary influences that were both active (facilitating, shaping, and restricting) and passive (e.g., sharing foods or environment, mirroring food behaviors). Influences connected strongly with multiple SCT constructs (e.g., behavioral capacity, reinforcements for active influences, and expectations, observational learning for passive influences). Familial influence contributed to changes in the total amount, variety, and healthfulness of foods consumed. Intra-family dynamics were crucial; family members often leveraged each other's persuasiveness or food skills to collaboratively influence diet. AA family-based interventions should consider incorporating both passive and active forms of dietary influence within a family unit, involve multiple family members, and allow for individualization to the unique dynamics and dietary behaviors within each family unit.

The use of Lay Mental Health Workers (LMHWs) to tackle the treatment gap in low-resource settings is well established, and although they often receive training, the potential of proper supervision to improve outcomes remains untapped. Indeed, given the strain on expert resources, peer-supervision models based on supervisors' seniority of work experience have significant potential especially in relation to community knowledge and embedding of LMHWs. This study summarizes the evaluation of a pilot program for peer supervision on the basis of Social Cognitive Theories of Self-Efficacy for LMHWs in Kerala, India. Two experienced LMHWs worked as supervisors for a total of 12 LMHWs over the course of a year. These participants were subsequently interviewed to analyze their experiences in order to evaluate the potential of peer supervision and distil relevant information to improve future training of LMHWs. The findings include improved performance and emotional support for the participants.

Purpose. This study identified restaurant manager/owner factors that may contribute to adoption of a restaurant-based healthy eating program, Eat Fit. Findings may be used to engage restaurants in efforts to increase access to and availability of healthy foods, promote healthy food choices, and work toward improving diet and lowering obesity and chronic disease risk in the community. Methods. Cross-sectional survey data were collected from restaurant managers/owners interested in partnering with Eat Fit. Variables included restaurant manager/owner beliefs, perceived staff knowledge/skills, support, self-efficacy, outcome expectancies, and barriers and facilitators to implementation. Results. Forty-nine managers/owners participated. Most managers/owners held positive beliefs about offering healthy food items in restaurants (83.7%). Most agreed that restaurants could influence eating behaviors (83.7%) and that restaurants have a responsibility to offer healthy options (77.6%). Most managers/owners perceived high levels of support (83.7%) and were confident in their ability (95.9%) to implement the Eat Fit program. The most cited barriers were customer preference, ingredient availability, staff knowledge, and operational challenges. The most common reasons for involvement in the program were a desire to increase access to healthy food, to entice customers looking for healthier food, a belief that restaurants should offer healthy food, and opportunities to market through Eat Fit. Conclusions. This research contributes to knowledge about beliefs and perceptions of restaurant manager/owners. Efforts to engage restaurants should focus on benefits of offering healthy food and the role restaurants can play in promoting health. Furthermore, programs may benefit from enhanced restaurant staff training, customer-targeted marketing, and educational efforts.

Patients with moderate to severe COPD frequently experience dyspnea, which causes these patients to acquire a fear of dyspnea and a fear of activity. This study developed a cognitive intervention combined with active cycle of breathing technique (ACBT) intervention program based on the fear-avoidance model, with the goal of evaluating the program's effectiveness in improving dyspnea-related kinesiophobia in patients with moderate to severe COPD. This study had a total of 106 participants. For 8 weeks, the intervention group (N=53) received cognitive combined with ACBT, while the control group (N=53) received standard care. The findings of the four times the dyspnea belief questionnaire were collected indicated that the combined intervention had a better impact on reducing dyspnea-related kinesiophobia than did routine nursing (P<0.05), and the impact persisted even after the intervention. Additionally, it may enhance dyspnea and quality of life, increase exercise capacity, and lower the BODE index.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether subgroups of disability-sport athletes exist on morality- and norm-based doping cognitions and whether these groups differ in anticipated guilt or doping intentions. A survey was completed by 186 athletes (Mage = 37.5 years, 78.0% male, 45.1% wheelchair basketball) assessing norms, doping moral disengagement, anticipated guilt, and intentions to dope. Cluster analysis revealed four distinct subgroups of athletes, including one potentially high-risk subgroup characterized by relatively high scores on doping moral disengagement, subjective norms, and descriptive norms. One-way analysis of variance revealed significantly lower anticipated guilt in two athlete subgroups characterized by relatively higher doping moral disengagement than the other two subgroups. Moreover, the potentially high-risk group had a greater proportion of athletes showing some presence of intention to dope. This study suggests there is a small subgroup of disability-sport athletes at elevated risk of doping who might benefit from targeted antidoping interventions.

Moral disengagement, a term coined by Bandura, explains how people can hurt others and behave immorally, contradicting their beliefs and values and yet live peaceably with themselves. He developed a conceptual model of moral disengagement based on the Social Cognitive Theory of moral agency. By activating moral disengagement mechanisms, people can disregard their moral standards and behave immorally without any self-censure. This paper synthesises the extensive research on moral disengagement in a youth bullying context to demonstrate the conceptual strength of moral disengagement theory for research and interventions on bullying. It advances the understanding of the contextual basis of moral disengagement by examining its diverse role in bullying episodes that includes bullying perpetration, bullying victimisation and bullying bystanders. The analysis of the different components of moral disengagement representing the loci of the disengagement mechanisms sheds light on how the disengagement processes function in the youth bullying context. Its role as both a moderator and mediator further advances its divergent functioning in the youth bullying context. Finally, implications of the review for advancing knowledge on the moral basis of youth bullying are discussed with suggestions for the development of interventions to attenuate the use of moral disengagement.

RESUMO

We review Bandura's contributions to cognitive-behavioural theory, research and practice. His basic research on the causal role of cognitive processes in social learning was a major factor in the emergence of cognitive-behavioural therapies in the 1970s. His investigations on observational learning and self-efficacy beliefs led to the development of guided mastery therapy, a specific cognitive-behavioural intervention for anxiety disorders. His research on self-regulatory processes provided an empirical basis for the emergence of numerous therapies targeting self-regulation. We conclude by discussing how Bandura's social cognitive theory, as well as more recent advances in social cognitive theorising, might be further applied to innovative approaches to therapeutic interventions, assessment and clinical case conceptualization.

Rural areas in the US exhibit high rates of illicit substance use. This study aimed to investigate the Social Cognitive Theory factors associated with spontaneous attempts to quit illicit substance use in a sample of users. A cross-sectional survey was administered through face-to-face interviews. Data was collected from adult (≥ 18 years of age) current illicit substance users who were not receiving professional addiction treatment. Binary logistic regression analyses were utilized to answer the research question. Data from 230 illicit substance users met the eligibility criteria. The mean age was 38 years, whereas the average history of illicit substance use was 14 years. Users with a higher perceived value of quitting illicit substance use were significantly more likely to attempt to quit use spontaneously. Health behavior interventions that incorporate the perceived value of quitting illicit substance use can be effective in encouraging spontaneous attempts to quit illicit substance use.

School nurses are well-positioned to assess, identify, and refer children and adolescents who are at risk of suicide. This multiple-case study examined the personal, behavioral, and environmental factors that influence the role of the school nurse in youth suicide prevention and intervention. Purposive sampling was used to recruit two school nurses who were identified as unique cases. Data from interviews, surveys, and documents generated a cross-case analysis. Findings indicate that school-level exclusive practices, such as a lack of communication and collaboration, greatly influence the role and reach of school nurses. Further, dilemmas arising from environmental barriers hinder school nurse capacity to promote student safety and affect moral distress levels. Leveraging data to demonstrate the pivotal role of school nurses to support mental health equity and reduce disparities in youth suicide is crucial to developing inclusive and responsive suicide prevention programs.

AIM: To examine the preliminary effects of a culturally tailored, family-supported, community-based diabetes self management education and support (DSMES) programme for Ethiopian people with type 2 diabetes on glycosylated haemoglobulin (HbA1c ), blood pressure, body mass index and lipid profiles. METHODS: A two-arm pilot randomised controlled trial (RCT) was conducted involving 76 participant-caregiver dyads from Western Ethiopia, which were randomly allocated to the intervention arm to receive 12 h of DSMES intervention guided by social cognitive theory on top of usual care, or to the control group, which received usual care. While HbA1c was a primary outcome, the blood pressure, body mass index and lipid profiles were secondary outcomes. Primary outcome was the change in HbA1c between baseline and 2-month follow-up between the groups. Generalised estimating equations was used to test the preliminary effect of the DSMES programme on the outcomes at baseline, post-intervention and at 2-month follow-up for secondary outcomes. Cohen's d was used to estimate the between-group effect sizes of the intervention. RESULTS: The DSMES produced significant improvement in HbA1c with large effect size (ß = -1.667, p < 0.001, d = -0.81) and triglycerides with medium effect size (d = -0.50). HbA1c in the intervention group was decreased by 12 mmol/mol (1.1%). Although nonsignificant, the DSMES also had small to moderate effects (d = -0.123 to 0.34) on blood pressure, body mass index, total cholesterol, low-density and high-density lipoproteins when compared with usual care. CONCLUSION: A culturally tailored, social cognitive theory-guided, family-supported, community-based DSME programme could have a benefit on HbA1c and triglycerides. A full RCT is warranted to test the effectiveness of the DSMES programme.

OBJECTIVE: Investigate the preliminary efficacy and feasibility of a personalized mobile health (mHealth) intervention based on social cognitive theory (SCT) to promote physical activity among type 2 diabetes patients via self-monitoring, goal setting, and automatic feedback. METHODS: We conducted a pilot study involving 33 type 2 diabetes patients attending Mitsui Memorial Hospital in Japan using a pre-post evaluation design over 12 weeks. Participants measured daily step count, body weight, and blood pressure at home, with the measurements synchronized with the StepAdd application (app) automatically. Participants used the app to review daily results, update personalized step goals, identify individualized barriers to achieving the step goals, find coping strategies to overcome each barrier, and implement these strategies, thereby building effective coping skills to meet the goals. Pharmacists examined the usage of the app and provided coaching on lifestyle modifications. Ultimately, patients established skills to enhance diabetes self-care by using the app. RESULTS: Daily step count increased dramatically with high statistical significance (p < 0.0001), from a mean of 5436 steps/day to 10,150 steps/day, an 86.7 % increase. HbA1c (p = 0.0001) and BMI (p = 0.0038) also improved. Diabetes self-care in diet, exercise, and foot care as well as self-management behavior, self-regulation, and self-efficacy in achieving daily step goals showed significant improvements. The retention rate of the study was very high, at 97.0 % (n = 32). CONCLUSIONS: A personalized smartphone-based mHealth intervention based on SCT is feasible and effective at promoting physical activity among type 2 diabetes patients. The methodology of the intervention could be readily applied to other patient populations.

BACKGROUND: HIV incidence has recently increased among people who inject drugs (PWID) across the United States, with outbreaks occurring in states with long-standing syringe service programs (SSPs) including Massachusetts (MA). Antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an evidence-based HIV prevention strategy recommended for PWID, but uptake in this marginalized population is extraordinarily low. METHODS: We describe the design and procedures for a National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)-funded (R01) randomized controlled trial (RCT) testing the efficacy of "PrEP for Health," a multicomponent behavioral intervention to increase PrEP uptake, adherence, and persistence among HIV-negative PWID attending SSPs in two areas of the U.S. Northeast that are heavily affected by injection-related HIV transmission. Participants are equally randomized to receive the "PrEP for Health" intervention (involving individually tailored HIV and PrEP education, motivational interviewing, problem-solving skills and planning, and ongoing navigation support) or an enhanced standard of care (eSOC) control condition involving a brief educational video on the utility of PrEP for HIV prevention. Co-primary outcomes are PrEP uptake (using medical/pharmacy records) and adherence (using tenofovir quantification in hair samples); a secondary outcome is PrEP persistence (using medical/pharmacy records) over 12 months. Major assessments occur at baseline, 1-, 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up visits. Planned analyses will examine intervention efficacy, specific hypothesized conceptual mediators of the intervention effect (e.g., self-perceived HIV risk; PrEP knowledge, interest in use, motivation, and behavioral skills) and epidemiologically linked moderators (e.g., age; gender; condomless vaginal or anal sex). DISCUSSION: Findings from our extensive preliminary research with the study population revealed that a multicomponent, theory-based intervention targeting PrEP knowledge, motivation, self-efficacy, behavioral skills, and structural barriers to PrEP access is urgently needed for PWID who are at risk of HIV acquisition. We also learned that SSPs represent a highly acceptable service setting for delivering such interventions. In this study, we are evaluating the efficacy of the "PrEP for Health" intervention. If efficacious, findings from our implementation evaluation could help guide its dissemination to diverse SSPs and possibly other community-based settings accessed by this population.
