ABSTRACT
PURPOSE:
Information on the role of dietary patterns and endometrial cancer risk is limited. We investigated whether dietary patterns are associated with endometrial cancer risk among women in the California Teachers Study cohort.METHODS:
Among 75,093 eligible women, 937 developed invasive endometrial cancer between 1995 and 2011. Multivariate Cox regression was performed to estimate relative risks (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) associated with five dietary patterns identified by principal components factoranalysis:
"plant-based," "high protein/high fat," "high carbohydrates," "ethnic," and "salad and wine."RESULTS:
These dietary patterns were not associated with endometrial cancer risk overall (RR = 0.91, 95% CI 0.72, 1.15 for the highest vs. lowest quintile of the "plant-based" dietary pattern) or by menopausal status and hormone therapy use.CONCLUSIONS:
Dietary patterns do not seem to be associated with endometrial cancer risk.
