ABSTRACT
Alport syndrome is characterized by type IV collagen network disruptions leading to renal, auditory, and ocular manifestations. This case report details a 24-year-old man with Alport syndrome who developed a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment following macular hole repair. The patient underwent a successful vitrectomy and internal limiting membrane peel for macular hole repair but returned with vision loss due to retinal detachment five weeks later, which necessitated a combined scleral buckle and vitrectomy. This is the first case describing rhegmatogenous retinal detachment post-macular hole repair in Alport syndrome. [Ophthalmic Surg Lasers Imaging Retina 2024;55289-292.].
