RESUMEN
Out-of-plane (OP) exciton-based emitters in two-dimensional semiconductor materials are attractive candidates for novel photonic applications, such as radially polarized sources, integrated photonic chips, and quantum communications. However, their low quantum efficiency resulting from forbidden transitions limits their practicality. In this work, we achieve a giant enhancement of up to 34000 for OP exciton emission in indium selenide (InSe) via a designed Ag nanocube-over-Au film plasmonic nanocavity. The large photoluminescence enhancement factor (PLEF) is attributed to the induced OP local electric field (Ez) within the nanocavity, which facilitates effective OP exciton-plasmon interaction and subsequent tremendous enhancement. Moreover, the nanoantenna effect resulting from the effective interaction improves the directivity of spontaneous radiation. Our results not only reveal an effective photoluminescence enhancement approach for OP excitons but also present an avenue for designing on-chip photonic devices with an OP dipole orientation.

Precious metals are valuable materials for the chemical industry, but they are scarce and pose a risk of supply disruption. Recycling precious metals from waste is a promising strategy, here we tactfully utilize light irradiation as an environmental-friendly and energy-saving adjunctive strategy to promote the reduction of precious metal ions, thereby improving the adsorption capacity and kinetics. A newly light-sensitive covalent organic framework (PP-COF) was synthesized to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of this light auxiliary strategy. The equilibrium adsorption capacities of PP-COF with light irradiation towards gold, platinum, and silver ions are 4729, 573, and 519 mg g-1, which are 3.3, 1.9, and 1.2 times the adsorption capacities under dark condition. Significantly, a filtration column with PP-COF can recover more than 99.8% of the gold ions in the simulated e-waste leachates with light irradiation, and 1 gram of PP-COF can recover gold from up to 0.15 tonne of e-waste leachates. Interestingly, the captured precious metals by PP-COF with light irradiation mainly exist in the micron-sized particles, which can be easily separated by extraction. We believe this work can contribute to precious metal recovery and circular economy for recycling resources.
RESUMEN
Singlet fission (SF) is a triplet generation mechanism capable of turning a singlet exciton into two triplet excitons. It has the potential to enhance the power conversion efficiency of single-junction solar cells. Perylene diimides (PDIs) are a class of dye molecules with photovoltaic properties and are beginning to receive more and more attention due to their potential for SF. Here, we report a selenium-substituted PDI dimer, Se-PDI-II, and we studied its SF mechanism by using steady-state, transient absorption, and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy. Compared with the unsubstituted dimer PDI-II, we found that the introduction of selenium atoms can suppress excimer emission during the SF process, showing much higher SF efficiency and triplet yield.

Exciton transport in two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper perovskite plays a pivotal role for their optoelectronic performance. However, a clear photophysical picture of exciton transport is still lacking due to strong confinement effects and intricate exciton-phonon interactions in an organic-inorganic hybrid lattice. Herein, we present a systematical study on exciton transport in (BA)2(MA)n-1PbnI3n+1 Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites using time-resolved photoluminescence microscopy. We reveal that the free exciton mobilities in exfoliated thin flakes can be improved from around 8 cm2 V-1 s-1 to 280 cm2V-1s-1 by anchoring the soft butyl ammonium cation with a polymethyl methacrylate network at the surface. The mobility of the latter is close to the theoretical limit of Mott-Ioffe-Regel criterion. Combining optical measurements and theoretical studies, it is unveiled that the polymethyl methacrylate network significantly improve the lattice rigidity resulting in the decrease of deformation potential scattering and lattice fluctuation at the surface few layers. Our work elucidates the origin of high exciton mobility in Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites and opens up avenues to regulate exciton transport in two-dimensional materials.

This paper presents a low power, energy-efficient precision CMOS temperature sensor. The front-end circuit is based on bipolar junction transistors, and employs a pre-bias circuit and bipolar core. To reduce measurement errors arising from current ratio mismatch, a new dynamic element-matching mode is proposed, which dynamically matches all current sources in the front-end circuit. The first-order fitting and third-order fitting are used to calibrate the output results. On the basis of simulation results, the sensor achieves 3σ-inaccuracies of +0.18/-0.13 °C from -55 °C to +125 °C. Measurement results demonstrate sensor 3σ-inaccuracies of ±0.2 °C from 0 °C to +100 °C. The circuit is implemented in 0.18 µm CMOS, and consumes 6.1 µA with a 1.8 V supply voltage.
