RESUMEN

Acupuncture, a traditional Chinese therapy, is gaining attention for its impact on the brain. While existing electroencephalogram and functional magnetic resonance image research has made significant contributions, this paper utilizes stereo-electroencephalography data for a comprehensive exploration of neurophysiological effects. Employing a multi-scale approach, channel-level analysis reveals notable $\delta $-band activity changes during acupuncture. At the brain region level, acupuncture modulated connectivity between the paracentral lobule and the precentral gyrus. Whole-brain analysis indicates acupuncture's influence on network organization, and enhancing $E_{glob}$ and increased interaction between the motor and sensory cortex. Brain functional reorganization is an important basis for functional recovery or compensation after central nervous system injury. The use of acupuncture to stimulate peripheral nerve trunks, muscle motor points, acupoints, etc., in clinical practice may contribute to the reorganization of brain function. This multi-scale perspective provides diverse insights into acupuncture's effects. Remarkably, this paper pioneers the introduction of stereo-electroencephalography data, advancing our understanding of acupuncture's mechanisms and potential therapeutic benefits in clinical settings.

After more than 30 years of extensive investigation, impressive progress has been made in identifying the neural correlates of consciousness (NCC). However, the functional role of spatiotemporally distinct consciousness-related neural activity in conscious perception is debated. An influential framework proposed that consciousness-related neural activities could be dissociated into two distinct processes: phenomenal and access consciousness. However, though hotly debated, its authenticity has not been examined in a single paradigm with more informative intracranial recordings. In the present study, we employed a visual awareness task and recorded the local field potential (LFP) of patients with electrodes implanted in cortical and subcortical regions. Overall, we found that the latency of visual awareness-related activity exhibited a bimodal distribution, and the recording sites with short and long latencies were largely separated in location, except in the lateral prefrontal cortex (lPFC). The mixture of short and long latencies in the lPFC indicates that it plays a critical role in linking phenomenal and access consciousness. However, the division between the two is not as simple as the central sulcus, as proposed previously. Moreover, in 4 patients with electrodes implanted in the bilateral prefrontal cortex, early awareness-related activity was confined to the contralateral side, while late awareness-related activity appeared on both sides. Finally, Granger causality analysis showed that awareness-related information flowed from the early sites to the late sites. These results provide the first LFP evidence of neural correlates of phenomenal and access consciousness, which sheds light on the spatiotemporal dynamics of NCC in the human brain.

Aimed at the stability of calibration coefficients in a general non-orthogonal retrieval algorithm (NRA) of pure rotational Raman lidars (PRRLs), an orthogonal retrieval algorithm (ORA) of atmospheric temperature profiles based on the orthogonal basis function is proposed. This algorithm eliminates the correlation between the calibration coefficients in the NRA to reduce the influence of the number of calibration points and the selection scheme on the calibration coefficients. In this paper, the stabilities of calibration coefficients in the NRA and ORA are compared and analyzed, and the data analysis for atmospheric temperature profiles with a time resolution of minute-level are given, based on the developed Cloud Precipitation Potential Evaluation (CPPV) lidar data and the parallel radiosonde temperature data. The analysis results show that coefficients of variation (CVs) of ORA calibration coefficients are one order of magnitude smaller than those of NRA coefficients. The mean deviation of the ORA retrieval results is roughly reduced by 16.1% compared with the NRA, and the root-mean-square deviation is roughly reduced by 15.0% compared with the NRA. Therefore, the temperature retrieval performance of the ORA is better than that of the NRA.

BACKGROUND: Adiposity and insulin resistance (IR) are closely associated with hypertension; however, the role of interactions between obesity phenotypes and IR in hypertension is unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the interactions of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and body fat percentage (BF%) with IR on hypertension risk. METHODS: We analyzed data from 4888 participants (mean age 57 years, 41.2% men) in the China Northwest Natural Population Cohort, Ningxia Project. BMI, WC, and BF% were determined using bioelectrical impedance analysis devices. IR was estimated using a homeostasis model assessment index (HOMA-IR). Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression was used to evaluate the association between HOMA-IR and hypertension risk. We calculated the relative excess risk and attributable proportion with their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to assess whether adiposity phenotypes modified the effect of HOMA-IR on hypertension risk. RESULTS: The crude prevalence of hypertension was 52.2%. The multivariable-adjusted odds ratio of HOMA-IR was 1.80 (95% CI: 1.23-2.65) for the risk of hypertension in the highest versus the lowest quartiles, but this association became marginal in models further adjusting for BMI, WC, and BF% (P for trend = 0.056). Relative excess risk and attributable proportion for interaction between high HOMA-IR and high BF% were 0.32 (0.04-0.59) and 0.33 (0.06-0.60), respectively. Additionally, high truncal and leg BF% and high HOMA-IR accounted for the hypertension risk in women, but not in men. We did not observe any significant interactions between BMI or WC and HOMA-IR on hypertension. CONCLUSION: BF% modified the association between IR and increased risk of hypertension in women with high truncal and leg BF%, but not in men.

BACKGROUND: Deviation of electrode array from the midline of spinal cords affects the therapeutic outcomes of C2-4 cervical spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC). This study proposed the implementation of a novel C2-3 dural exposure procedure and investigated its efficacy compared to conventional surgery. METHODS: Surgical and postoperative imaging data from 69 patients with DOC who underwent SCS in the lateral decubitus position were retrospectively assessed. The C2-3 dural exposure procedure was performed in 16 patients while the rest underwent conventional surgery. The incidence of electrode deviation was compared, and factors associated with the deviation were investigated. RESULTS: The rate of complete midline coverage by the electrodes in the C2-3 dural exposure group was significantly higher than the conventional group (93.8% vs. 54.7%, p = 0.004). Exposure of the dura between C2-3 was a significant favorable factor for complete midline coverage by the electrode array (odds ratio [OR]: 0.091; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.011-0.757; p = 0.027). Electrode positioned ≥5 cm above the lower edge of the C2 vertebra was a significant risk factor for incomplete midline coverage (OR: 1.126; 95% CI: 1.016-1.248; p = 0.023). No difference in operation time, intraoperative bleeding, or surgical site infection was observed between the 2 groups. CONCLUSIONS: The C2-3 dural exposure procedure, performed in the lateral decubitus position, was safe and had higher complete midline coverage than conventional surgery.

BACKGROUND Through January 2021, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continued to create significant pressure on medical staff who have worked to treat patients with the disease and control its spread. This study aimed to increase understanding of the situation and influencing factors of nurses' work interruption in Wuhan's isolation ward during the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIAL AND METHODS A self-designed general situation questionnaire and work interruption questionnaire were used to survey 160 nurses from Beijing, Chongqing, and Jilin who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic in Wuhan in March 2020. The questionnaire could only be answered once by each nurse via a WeChat account. The submitted answers were verified by 2 researchers. RESULTS The results showed that the rate of interruption of work among nurses in the isolation ward was 25%, and the rate of nurses experiencing a negative experience was 96.9%. The results of univariate analysis showed that the following factors were related to the work interruption of the nurses in the isolation ward (all P<0.05): emergency public incident training; emergency public incident treatment experience; knowledge of COVID-19 pneumonia; hours worked per shift in the quarantine area; and negative physiologic experience. Logistic regression analysis showed that negative experience, hours worked per shift, and emergency public incident training were the independent factors influencing work interruption among nurses in the isolation wards. CONCLUSIONS The incidence of interruption of work among nurses in the isolation ward was 25%. Negative experiences, long working hours per shift, and lack of emergency public incident training made the nurses more prone to work interruption.

BACKGROUND: An online health community (OHC) is a novel sharing channel through which doctors share professional health care knowledge with patients. While doctors have the authority to protect their patients' privacy in OHCs, we have limited information on how doctors' privacy protection choices affect their professional health care knowledge sharing with patients. OBJECTIVE: We examined the relationship between privacy protection and professional health care knowledge sharing in OHCs. Specifically, we examined the effects of privacy protection settings in an OHC on doctors' interactive professional health care knowledge sharing and searching professional health care knowledge sharing (two dimensions of professional health care knowledge sharing). Moreover, we explored how such effects differ across different levels of disease stigma. METHODS: We collected the monthly panel data of 19,456 doctors from Good Doctor, one of the largest OHCs in China, from January 2008 to April 2016. A natural experimental empirical study with difference-in-difference analysis was conducted to test our hypotheses. The time fixed effect and the individual fixed effect were both considered to better identify the effects of a privacy protection setting on professional health care knowledge sharing. Additionally, a cross-sectional analysis was performed for a robust check. RESULTS: The results indicate that the privacy protection setting has a significant positive effect on interactive professional health care knowledge sharing (ß=.123, P<.001). However, the privacy protection setting has a significant negative effect on searching professional health care knowledge sharing (ß=-.225, P=.05). Moreover, we found that high disease stigma positively impacts the effect of privacy protection on interactive professional health care knowledge sharing (coefficients are in the same valence) and negatively impacts the effects of privacy protection on searching professional health care knowledge sharing (coefficients are in the reverse valence). CONCLUSIONS: Privacy protection has a bilateral effect on professional health care knowledge sharing (ie, a positive effect on interactive professional health care knowledge sharing and a negative effect on searching professional health care knowledge sharing). Such bilateral switches of professional health care knowledge sharing call for a balanced state in conjunction with practical implications. This research also identifies a moderate effect of disease stigma on privacy protection settings and professional health care knowledge sharing.

We previously reported that induced neural stem cells (iNSCs) directly reprogrammed from mouse embryonic fibroblasts can expand and differentiate into neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Whether iNSCs have immunoregulatory properties in addition to facilitating cell replacement remains uncertain. In this study, we aimed to characterize the immunomodulatory effects of iNSCs on the activation states of microglia and to elucidate the mechanisms underlying these effects. Using a mouse model of closed head injury (CHI), we observed that iNSC grafts decreased the levels of ED1+/Iba1+ and TNF-α+/Iba1+ microglia but increased the levels of IGF1+/Iba1+ microglia in the injured cortex. Subsequently, using a Transwell co-culture system, we discovered that iNSCs could modulate LPS-pretreated microglia phenotypes in vitro via CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling, which we demonstrated through the administration of the CXCR4 antagonist AMD3100 and CXCR4-specific siRNA treatment. An in vivo loss-of-function study also revealed that iNSC grafts regulated the behavior of resident microglia via CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling, influencing their activation state such that they promoted neurological functional recovery and neuron survival. Furthermore, the beneficial effects of iNSC transplantation were significantly diminished by CXCR4 knockdown. In short, iNSCs have the potential to influence microglia activation and the acquisition of neuroprotective phenotypes via CXCL12/CXCR4 signaling.

Intramedullary hydatid cyst is extremely rare. We present a case of pathologically confirmed primary intramedullary hydatid cyst in an otherwise healthy patient. A 17-year-old boy presented with lumbar pain, weakness, and numbness in both lower limbs, and urinate difficulty interrupted for 2 years. The patient had no other signs of systemic hydatid cyst disease. An intramedullary cystic lesion was identified with magnetic resonance imaging and was shown to be a hydatid cyst by histopathologic examination after the surgical removal. Although extremely rare, primary intramedullary hydatid cyst pathology might be the cause of lumbar pain, weakness, and numbness in both lower limbs for those living in endemic areas. Surgical removement is feasible and effective for intramedullary hydatid cyst.

There is much evidence to suggest that brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a prominent candidate in promoting neuroprotection, axonal regeneration, and synaptic plasticity following spinal cord injury (SCI). Although some evidence indicates that BDNF has potent anti-oxidative effects and may be involved in the regulation of the immune response, the effects of BDNF in the inflammatory response during the course of secondary damage after SCI is still unclear. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of BDNF with a special focus on their effect on macrophage polarization after SCI. Adult C57 mice underwent T10 spinal cord clip compression injury and received lenti-BDNF vector injections at the epicenter of the lesion site. Four days later, total BDNF levels were greatly increased in animals that received lenti-BDNF injections. Confocal imaging showed that more than 80 % of the lenti-virus infected cells were CD11b-positive macrophages. In addition, the expression of arginase-1 and CD206 (associated with M2 macrophage phenotype) significantly increased in the animals that received lenti-BDNF injections compared with those that received lenti-EGFP injections. On the contrary, the expression of CD16/32 and inducible nitric oxide synthase (M1 phenotype marker) was down-regulated as demonstrated using flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. Furthermore, the production of interleukin 1ß and tumor necrosis factor alpha was significantly reduced whereas the levels of interleukin 10 and interleukin 13 were elevated in subjects that received lenti-BDNF vector injections. The time course of functional recovery revealed that gradual recovery was observed in the subacute phase in lenti-BDNF group, little improvement was observed in lenti-EGFP group. At the axonal level, significant retraction of the CST axons were observed in lenti-EGFP injected animals relative to lenti-BDNF group by biotinylated dextran amine tracing. In addition, compared to lenti-BDNF group markedly demyelination was observed in the lenti-EGFP group using luxol fast blue staining. In conclusion, we found that BDNF could promote the shift of M1 to M2 phenotype and ameliorate the inflammatory microenvironment. Furthermore, the roles of BDNF in immunity modulation may enhance neuroprotective effects and partially contribute to the locomotor functional recovery after SCI.

BACKGROUND: Mobile health (m-health) services are becoming increasingly important and widely accepted. However, empirical studies on potential users' m-health acceptance behavior remain underexplored. Indeed, m-health adoption is not only a technology acceptance behavior, but also a health-related behavior. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Based on the Protection Motivation Theory, this article explores users' m-health adoption behavior from the perspectives of threat appraisal and coping appraisal, and also examines the moderating role of gender and age through a survey of potential users. The survey was conducted among 500 potential m-health service participants. RESULTS: Our results show that threat appraisal and coping appraisal factors influence adoption intention through attitude. It is also found that gender and age play different moderating roles with threat appraisal and coping appraisal factors. CONCLUSIONS: Gender and age play different roles between threat appraisal and coping appraisal factors in the acceptance of m-health. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) has emerged as a valuable tool to characterize the complex states encompassing disorders of consciousness (DOC). Awareness appears to comprise two coexistent, anticorrelated components named the external and internal awareness networks. The present study hypothesizes that DOC interrupts the balance between the internal and external awareness networks. To gain more understanding of this phenomenon, the present study analyzed resting-state fMRI data from 12 patients with DOC versus 12 healthy age-matched controls. The data were explored using independent component analysis and amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) analysis. The results indicated that DOC deactivated midline areas associated with internal awareness. In addition, external awareness was strengthened in DOC because of increased activation in the insula, lingual gyrus, paracentral and supplementary motor area. The activity patterns suggested strengthened external awareness against weakened internal awareness in DOC. In particular, increased activity found in the insula, lingual gyrus, paracentral and supplementary motor area of patients with DOC implied possible involvement of augmented visuo-motor modulation in these patients. DOC is probably related to hyperactive external awareness opposing hypoactive internal awareness. This unique pattern of brain activity may potentially be a prognostic marker for DOC.

Exploring the neural mechanisms of awareness is a fundamental task of cognitive neuroscience. There is an ongoing dispute regarding the role of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) in the emergence of awareness, which is partially raised by the confound between report- and awareness-related activity. To address this problem, we designed a visual awareness task that can minimize report-related motor confounding. Our results show that saccadic latency is significantly shorter in the aware trials than in the unaware trials. Local field potential (LFP) data from six patients consistently show early (200-300ms) awareness-related activity in the PFC, including event-related potential and high-gamma activity. Moreover, the awareness state can be reliably decoded by the neural activity in the PFC since the early stage, and the neural pattern is dynamically changed rather than being stable during the representation of awareness. Furthermore, the enhancement of dynamic functional connectivity, through the phase modulation at low frequency, between the PFC and other brain regions in the early stage of the awareness trials may explain the mechanism of conscious access. These results indicate that the PFC is critically involved in the emergence of awareness.

CD1d-restricted invariant NKT (iNKT) cells play a critical role in tumor immunity. However, the scarcity and limited persistence restricts their development and clinical application. Here, we demonstrated that iNKT cells could be efficiently expanded using modified cytokines combination from peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Introduction of IL-21 significantly increased the frequency of CD62L-positive memory-like iNKT cells. iNKT cells armoring with B7H3-targeting second generation CAR and IL-21 showed potent tumor cell killing activity. Moreover, co-expression of IL-21 promoted the activation of Stat3 signaling and reduced the expression of exhaustion markers in CAR-iNKT cells in vitro. Most importantly, IL-21-arming significantly prolonged B7H3 CAR-iNKT cell proliferation and survival in vivo, thus improving their therapeutic efficacy in mouse renal cancer xerograph models without observed cytokine-related adverse events. In summary, these results suggest that B7H3 CAR-iNKT armored with IL-21 is a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment.

The integration of stereoelectroencephalography with therapeutic deep brain stimulation (DBS) holds immense promise as a viable approach for precise treatment of refractory disorders, yet it has not been explored in the domain of headache or pain management. Here, we implanted 14 electrodes in a patient with refractory migraine and integrated clinical assessment and electrophysiological data to investigate personalized targets for refractory headache treatment. Using statistical analyses and cross-validated machine-learning models, we identified high-frequency oscillations in the right nucleus accumbens as a critical headache-related biomarker. Through a systematic bipolar stimulation approach and blinded sham-controlled survey, combined with real-time electrophysiological data, we successfully identified the left dorsal anterior cingulate cortex as the optimal target for the best potential treatment. In this pilot study, the concept of the herein-proposed data-driven approach to optimizing precise and personalized treatment strategies for DBS may create a new frontier in the field of refractory headache and even pain disorders.

AIM: To evaluate the reliability of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) for the detection of renal microvascular blood perfusion in a type 2 diabetic Goto-Kakizaki (GK) rat model. METHODS: Male GK and Wistar rats at the age of 4, 12 and 20 weeks (n=10, respectively) were used for the study. Real-time and haemodynamic imaging of the renal cortex was performed using CEUS with SonoVue. Outage time-intensity curves (TICs) were applied for the analysis of basic intensity, slope rates of the ascending (S1) and descending curves (S2), time to peak (TTP), half time of peak descending (HDT), peak intensity (PI), and total area under the curve (AUC). Immunohistochemical staining for endothelial cells (ECs) was performed using the CD34 monoclonal antibody for the quantification of microvessel density and distribution. RESULTS: Images of the renal cortex microvascular beds after injection of SonoVue in the rats were rapidly and clearly displayed, and it is easy to differentiate the enhanced and faded images of renal perfusion. The TICs of the GK rats were much wider than the controls; however, no significant changes in PI were found in all aged rats. Ultrasonographic quantitative analysis revealed a decrease in S1 and S2, and an increase in TTP, HDT and AUC in the 12- and 20-week-old GK rats compared with the controls (P<0.05). Moreover, the 20-week-old GK rats had much lower glomerular density and smaller distribution area of CD34-positive ECs, which was in parallel with more severe proteinuria, GBM thickening, glomerulosclerosis and interstitial vascular damages (P<0.05). Interestingly, negative correlations between AUC and glomerular microvessel density or distribution were detected, respectively (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Contrast-enhanced ultrasonography is a valid technique for the real-time and dynamic assessment of renal cortex microvascular perfusion and haemodynamic characterization in GK rats.

BACKGROUND: The relationship between online health communities (OHCs) and offline medical care is unclear because both provide physician-patient interaction services and channels. Taking advantage of information and communication technology, patients have been using OHCs widely. However, some physical medical resources (such as hospital beds and medical devices) cannot be replicated by information and communication technologies. Therefore, it is worth studying how offline medical resources affect physician-patient interactions in OHCs and how OHCs help to solve resource scarcity and the uneven distribution of traditional medical treatment. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to support the notion that physician-patient consultations in OHCs are influenced by the objective distribution of offline health care capital (accessibility and availability) and to provide suggestions for the allocation of medical resources in practice through the judicious use of offline and online channels. METHODS: The empirical data in this study were collected from both online and offline channels. The offline data include 9 years (2006-2014) of medical resource statistics of 31 provincial administrative regions in mainland China. Moreover, data regarding the geolocation-based physician-patient interaction network in the OHC were also collected. The online data come from one of China's largest OHCs. We obtained 92,492 telephone consultation records of 6006 physicians using an automatic web crawler program. Social network analysis was used to visualize the descriptive statistics of the offline geolocation-based physician-patient interaction network in the OHC. A regression model with a squared variable was applied to analyze online and offline empirical data to further test our hypothesis. Two types of robustness tests were used to increase the reliability of the test results of the initial model. RESULTS: The results of our social network analysis show that there is a uniform geographic distribution of patients who use OHCs, whereas the physician relies more on geographic advantage (eg, a higher medical resource capability). Moreover, the empirical results of the regression model support the notion that physician-patient telephone consultations are positively influenced by physicians' online contributions (ßcontribution=.210; P<.001) and capital availability (ßbed=.935; P=.07), and, interestingly, spatial accessibility has an inverted U-shaped effect (ßdistance=.199; P<.001 and ßdistance2=-.00449; P=.008). The results indicate that the use of OHCs, although constrained by offline medical resources, provides a channel for offline resources to flow from areas with high availability to those with low availability. CONCLUSIONS: This study explores the relationship between online and offline channels by investigating online physician-patient interactions and offline medical resources. In particular, this study analyzes the impact of offline channels on online channels and verifies the possibility of OHC capital use shifting from a high-availability area to a low-availability area. In addition, it provides a theoretical and practical basis for understanding the interaction of online and offline channels of medical care.

OBJECTIVE: Maternal health has a direct, profound and lasting effect on the formation and development of the fetal cardiovascular system. The aim of this research was to find whether maternal age, BMI hypertension (GH) or gestational diabetic mellitus (GDM) would affect fetal cardiac function in the second trimester. METHOD: 329 mothers who had a fetal echocardiogram examination at the International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital of China Welfare Institute, Shanghai, China, from 1 January 2020 to 30 April 2020 were enrolled at the gestational age of 21 to 26 weeks (mean 22.78 ± 1.13 weeks). Single-factor analysis and multi-factor line regression analysis were used to find the contribution values of each factor to fetal cardiac function. RESULTS: at the second trimester, maternal age had a minor influence on the fetal left ventricle diastolic function. Higher maternal BMI could cause a decrease in the fetal diastolic function of both the left and right ventricle and the systolic function of the left ventricle. Maternal hypertension and gestational diabetic mellitus had a profound influence on both the left and right fetal heart ventricles of both systolic and diastolic function. CONCLUSION: maternal condition will have a profound influence on fetal cardiac function as early as the second trimester.

OBJECTIVE: The application of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) in the treatment of disorders of consciousness (DOC) has attracted attention, but its effect on brain activity is still unknown. Transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with EEG (TMS-EEG) can measure cortical activity, which can evaluate the effect of SCS on DOC. METHODS: We record 20 DOC patients' CRS-R values and TMS-EEG data before and after one-session SCS (Pre-SCS and Post-SCS). 20 DOC patients including 10 patients with unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (UWS) and 10 patients with minimally conscious states (MCS). TMS evoked potential (TEP) was used to measure the changes of cortical activity in DOC patients between Pre-SCS and Post-SCS. Firstly, we used the global mean field potential (GMFP) and fast perturbational complexity index (PCIst) to compare the temporal changes of patients' cortical activity. Then, we obtained the frequency feature (natural frequency, NF) based on the TEP time-frequency analysis, and compared the changes of natural frequency between Pre-SCS and Post-SCS. Finally, the study explored the relationship between the patient's baseline CRS-R values and changes of TMS evoked cortical activity in time and frequency domains. RESULTS: After SCS, MCS and UWS groups almost have no changes of CRS-R values (MCS: 9.9 ± 1.52 at Pre-SCS, 10.2 ± 1.48 at Post-SCS; UWS: 5.6 ± 1.26 at Pre-SCS, 5.7 ± 1.34 at Post-SCS). MCS group showed significant increases of GMFP amplitude (around 100 ms and 300 ms) and PCIst values at Post-SCS (p < 0.05). UWS group had no significant changes (p > 0.05). Besides, SCS induced the significant increases of natural frequency for MCS group(p < 0.05), but not for UWS group. At last, the study found that all patient's baseline CRS-R values were significantly correlated with ΔPCIst (r = 0.67, p < 0.005), and ΔNF (r = 0.72, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: SCS can modulate cortical activity of DOC patient, including temporal complexity and natural frequency. The changes of cortical activity caused by SCS are related to patients' consciousness level. TMS-EEG can evaluate the effect of SCS on DOC patients.

Object detection has a wide range of applications in forestry pest control. However, forest pest detection faces the challenges of a lack of datasets and low accuracy of small target detection. DETR is an end-to-end object detection model based on the transformer, which has the advantages of simple structure and easy migration. However, the object query initialization of DETR is random, and random initialization will cause the model convergence to be slow and unstable. At the same time, the correlation between different network layers is not strong, resulting in DETR is not very ideal in small object training, optimization, and performance. In order to alleviate these problems, we propose Skip DETR, which improves the feature fusion between different network layers through skip connection and the introduction of spatial pyramid pooling layers so as to improve the detection results of small objects. We performed experiments on Forestry Pest Datasets, and the experimental results showed significant AP improvements in our method. When the value of IoU is 0.5, our method is 7.7% higher than the baseline and 6.1% higher than the detection result of small objects. Experimental results show that the application of skip connection and spatial pyramid pooling layer in the detection framework can effectively improve the effect of small-sample obiect detection.
