Objective: This investigation sought to delineate the associations among colorectal adenomatous polyps, diabetes, and biomolecules involved in glucose metabolism. Method: Data were collected from 40 patients who underwent endoscopic polypectomy at the Endoscopy Department of Shandong Cancer Hospital between June 2019 and September 2021. This cohort included 27 patients with inflammatory polyps and 13 with adenomatous polyps. We assessed fasting insulin (Fins), fasting blood glucose (FBG), and the mRNA expressions of fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF-19) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) in the polyp tissues. Both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to ascertain the determinants influencing the emergence of adenomatous polyps. From these analyses, a predictive nomogram was constructed to forecast the occurrence of adenomatous polyps, and evaluations on the discriminative capacity, calibration, and clinical utility of the model were conducted. Results: The adenomatous polyp group exhibited markedly elevated levels of glucose, insulin, FGF-19, and IGF-1, with respective concentrations of (8.67±2.70) mmol/L, (12.72±7.69) µU/L, 2.20±1.88, and 1.36±0.69. These figures were significantly higher compared to the inflammatory polyp group, which showed levels of (5.51±0.72) mmol/L, (5.49±2.68) µU/L, 0.53±0.97, and 0.41±0.46, respectively, P=0.001. Multivariate logistic regression revealed that the relative expression of IGF-1 served as an independent risk factor for the development of colorectal adenomatous polyps (OR=5.622, 95% CI:1.085-29.126). The nomogram displayed a C-index of 0.849, indicating substantial discriminative capability. The calibration curve affirmed the model's accuracy in aligning predicted probabilities with actual outcomes, and the clinical decision curve demonstrated thepractical clinical applicability of the model. Conclusions: There was a significant correlation between the occurrence of colorectal adenomatous polyps and glucose metabolic pathways. Individuals with diabetes showed a higher propensity to develop such polyps.

Rabies is a severe infectious disease caused by the rabies virus, which seriously damages the central nervous system. Once it occurs, the fatality rate is close to 100%. The World Health Organization's position paper on rabies vaccines recognizes that rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) should be used for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in all category Ⅲ exposure for the first time, as well as in category Ⅱ exposure that suffer from severe immune deficiency, long-term massive use of immunosuppressants, and head and face exposure. The anti-rabies virus monoclonal antibody has high purity and specific activity, can be produced on a sustainable scale, and has no risk of blood source virus contamination. Preclinical pharmacodynamic studies and clinical trial results of the anti-rabies virus monoclonal antibody preparation have confirmed that the preparation has a broad-spectrum neutralization effect on the rabies virus. Additionally, its combined application with the vaccine has little impact on the active immunity of the vaccine. Therefore, the anti-rabies virus monoclonal antibody preparation shows great potential for clinical application in PEP.

Propionic acid (PPA), utilized in the manufacture of cellulose acetate propionate, is known to exhibit antimicrobial effects, but its mechanism in Escherichia coli O157 is still unknown. In general, antimicrobial activity is associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS), but ROS generation is not observed under PPA treatment. In addition to ROS, experiments were conducted to observe changes in trehalose and ion balance to discover factors that may affect the cell proliferation. Bacteria use trehalose, a sugar used for stabilization due to stress factors, which contradicts PPA concentration. Discrepancy in homeostasis follows as a result of ion imbalance. PPA causes interruption in bacterial internal stability in a dose-dependent manner. Membrane damage by ion imbalance occurs due to the binding ability of ionized PPA and divalent ions, which induce membrane depolarization, leading to a reduction in cell viability. Considering the lethal impact of membrane depolarization on cell death in bacteria, DNA fragmentation and phosphatidylserine exposure in apoptosis are confirmed. Due to severe damage in DNA, the activation of caspase-like protein is observed. Apoptosis-like death (ALD), a novel programmed cell death in bacteria, occurs eventually. In conclusion, ALD in E. coli O157 is induced via the contribution of homeostasis disruption in a ROS-independent manner.

Objective: To explore the clinical value of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of retroperitoneal tumors. Methods: The clinical data of 13 patients with retroperitoneal tumors treated with ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2018 to January 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The ablation effect was evaluated and the postoperative complications were observed. The changes of tumor volume before and after radiofrequency ablation were compared. Results: The symptoms of pain and dyspepsia were significantly improved after radiofrequency ablation, and the hospital stay was (9.2±2.9) days. The tumor was ablated completely in 10 cases, tumor residual in 1 case and tumor metastasis in 2 cases. One patient had postoperative duodenal perforation complicated with intra-abdominal infection, and no serious complications occurred in other patients. There were 20 lesions in 13 patients. The maximum diameter of 20 lesions before operation and 1, 3, 6 months after operation were (39.5±15.9) mm, (30.6±4.9)mm, (15.6±7.7) mm and (9.9±3.1) mm, respectively, the maximum diameters of 1, 3 and 6 months after operation were smaller than that before operation (P<0.05). Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation is a real-time, accurate, safe and effective minimally invasive treatment with few complications, and has a high clinical value for retroperitoneal tumors.

This article reported the clinical experience of diagnosis and treatment for two patients with lymphomatosis cerebri. Case 1 was female and aged 53 years old, while case 2 was male and aged 69 years old. Progressive cognitive impairment was the main clinical manifestation in both patients. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suggested leukoencephalopathy with patchy or mass enhancement. Cerebral blood flow was reduced on perfusion imaging in one patient. Brain biopsy confirmed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in both cases. The concentration of interleukin-10 in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of two patients was significantly increased, however, the result of CSF flow cytology was negative. The current study suggests that interleukin-10 in CSF is an important biological indicator for the diagnosis of lymphomatosis cerebri, but CSF flow cytometry may not be helpful. Moreover, cerebral hypoperfusion can be present in patients with lymphomatosis cerebri.

RESUMEN

Obesity is a growing global public health problem, while 40%-70% of obesity is determined by genetic factors. This article focuses on the classification, disease characteristics, diagnosis and progressive treatment of childhood genetic obesity. The prevention and control of childhood genetic obesity requires early detection of obese individuals and early screening of obesity causes. At the same time, clinicians are advised to propose individualized therapy and intervention measures based on multi-disciplinary opinions to improve the health of genetic obese children.

Objective: To examine the outcomes of Tiantan first-aid protocol on critically ill patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). Methods: The clinical data of 18 patients with PCNSL who were treated according to Tiantan first-aid protocol at Department of Neurosurgery,Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University from November 2019 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 9 males and 9 females, aged (56.9±11.1)years (range: 29 to 77 years). The median Karnofsky performance status(KPS) score at admission was 40 (range: 20 to 60). Three patients were mild coma, 3 were lethargy and 12 were conscious. The mean midline shift was 0.7 cm (range: 0 to 1.8 cm). After admission, all patients were treated according to the plan of rapid biopsy, rapid routine pathology and rapid salvage chemotherapy. The treatment procedures, clinical and radiographic outcomes, KPS score and adverse reactions of patients after chemotherapy were collected. Results: All of the 18 patients completed the first-aid treatment. The median duration from admission to the biopsy was 1 day (range: 0 to 5 days), from biopsy to routine pathological diagnosis was 1 day (range: 1 to 4 days) and from routine pathology to salvage chemotherapy was 1 day (range: 0 to 4 days). All the patients were pathologically confirmed with diffuse large B cell lymphoma, 1 patient was double-hit lymphoma. Seventeen patients underwent clinical remission and 1 died of cardiac dysfunction. The successful salvage rate was 17/18. Radiologically, complete remission was observed in 1 case, partial remission in 16 cases, and stable disease in 1 case. The median KPS score at discharge was 60 (range: 30 to 80). The mild gastrointestinal, hematological and hepatic adverse effects were observed after chemotherapy. Conclusion: Tiantan first-aid protocol is effective for critically ill patients with PCNSL, which has the merit to be popularly used and improved.

OBJECTIVE: COVID-19 is a new coronavirus infectious disease. We aimed to study the characteristics of thyroid hormone levels in patients with COVID-19 and to explore whether thyroid hormone predicts all-cause mortality of severely or critically ill patients. METHODS: The clinical data of 100 patients with COVID-19, who were admitted to Wuhan Tongji Hospital from February 8 to March 8, 2020, were analyzed in this retrospective study. The patients were followed up for 6-41 days. Patients were grouped into non-severe illness and severe or critical illness, which included survivors and non-survivors. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for all-cause mortality in association with continuous and the lower two quartiles of thyroid hormone concentrations in severely or critically ill patients. RESULTS: The means of free T3 (FT3) were 4.40, 3.73 and 2.76 pmol/L in non-severely ill patients, survivors and non-survivors, respectively. The lower (versus upper) two quartiles of FT3 was associated with all-cause mortality HR (95% CI) of 9.23 (2.01, 42.28). The HR (95% CI) for all-cause mortality in association with continuous FT3 concentration was 0.41 (0.21, 0.81). In the multivariate-adjusted models, free T4 (FT4), TSH and FT3/FT4 were not significantly related to all-cause mortality. Patients with FT3 less than 3.10 pmol/L had increased all-cause mortality. CONCLUSION: FT3 concentration was significantly lower in patients with severe COVID-19 than in non-severely ill patients. Reduced FT3 independently predicted all-cause mortality of patients with severe COVID-19.

Data of 189 patients with first-ever cardioembolic stroke (CES) hospitalized in the Second People's Hospital of Changzhou from June 2014 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The neuoimaging markers of chronic small vessel disease (cSVDm) were evaluated and their total burden (0-3 points) was calculated. At 90 d after onset, 65 patients had poor prognosis. Regression analysis showed that the total cSVDm burden score was an independent riskfactor for the poor prognosis(OR=1.754, 95%CI:1.137-2.707, P=0.011).

Objective: To explore the relationship between the binaural high-frequency mean hearing threshold and the hypertension of female workers exposed to noise, and to understand the application significance of the binaural high-frequency mean hearing threshold as an internal effect indicator of the risk of hypertension in female workers exposed to noise. Methods: From January to December 2018, a total of 20882 female workers exposed to noise in Guangzhou were selected by cluster sampling. Pure tone audiometry, blood pressure, age and length of service were collected. Trend test was used to evaluate the effects of exposure to noise and binaural high-frequency mean hearing threshold on blood pressure. Binary logistic regression model was used to evaluate the risk of hypertension associated with exposure to noise and binaural high-frequency mean hearing threshold. Results: The detection rate of normal hearing threshold, mild hearing loss and severe hearing loss was 80.73% (16858/20882) , 16.21% (3384/20882) and 3.06% (640/20882) respectively. The prevalence of hypertension was 6.04% (1018/16858) in normal hearing group, 10.28% (348/3384) in patients with high frequency mild hearing loss, and 11.25% (72/640) in patients with high frequency severe hearing loss. There was a linear relationship between the increase of working age and high-frequency mean hearing threshold and the increase of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (P< 0.05) . Compared with those exposed to noise for less than 1 year, the risk of hypertension in female workers with 7-9 years and more than 9 years was decreased (OR= 0.79, 0.75, P<0.05) . Compared with normal hearing group, the risk of hypertension in high frequency mild hearing loss group was increased (OR=1.31, P<0.05) . Conclusion: The increase in the binaural high-frequency mean hearing threshold of female workers exposed to noise can increase the blood pressure level and the risk of hypertension, and attention should be paid to female workers with high-frequency mild hearing loss.

Here we present new information on the shape evolution of the very neutron-rich ^{92,94}Se nuclei from an isomer-decay spectroscopy experiment at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN. High-resolution germanium detectors were used to identify delayed γ rays emitted following the decay of their isomers. New transitions are reported extending the previously known level schemes. The isomeric levels are interpreted as originating from high-K quasineutron states with an oblate deformation of ß∼0.25, with the high-K state in ^{94}Se being metastable and K hindered. Following this, ^{94}Se is the lowest-mass neutron-rich nucleus known to date with such a substantial K hindrance. Furthermore, it is the first observation of an oblate K isomer in a deformed nucleus. This opens up the possibility for a new region of K isomers at low Z and at oblate deformation, involving the same neutron orbitals as the prolate orbitals within the classic Z∼72 deformed hafnium region. From an interpretation of the level scheme guided by theoretical calculations, an oblate deformation is also suggested for the ^{94}Se_{60} ground-state band.

While fine particulate matters are decreasing in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region, the regional ozone (O3) shows an increasing trend that affects human health, leading to an urgent need for scientific understanding of source-receptor relationship between O3 and its precursor emissions given the changing background composition. We advanced and applied an adjoint air quality model to map contributions of individual O3 precursor emission sources [nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compound (VOC)] at each location to annual regional O3 concentrations and to identify the possible dominant influential pathways of emission sources to O3 at different spatiotemporal scales. Additionally, we introduced the novel adjoint sensitivity approach to assess the relationship between precursor emissions and O3-induced premature mortality. Adjoint results show that Shenzhen was a major source contributor to regional O3 throughout all seasons, of which 49.4% (3.8%) were from its NOx (VOC) emissions. Local emissions (within PRD) contributed to 83% of the regional O3 whereas only ~54% of the estimated ~4000 regional O3-induced premature mortalities. The discrepancy between these two contributions was because O3-induced mortalities are dependent on not only O3 concentration, but incident rate and population density. We also found that a city with low O3-induced mortalities could have significant emission contributions to health impact in the region since the transport pathways could be through transport of local O3 or through transport of O3 precursors that form regional O3 thereafter. It is therefore necessary to formulate emission control policies from both air quality and public health perspectives, and it is also critical to have better understanding of influential pathways of emission sources to O3.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) in breast cancer treatment is the major cause leading to the failure of chemotherapy. P-glycoprotein (P-gp), the product of the human MDR1 gene, plays a key role in resistance to chemotherapy and confers cross-resistance to many structurally unrelated anticancer drugs. We have previously reported that integrin αvß6 plays a critical role in breast cancer invasion and metastasis. However, whether and how αvß6 is associated with P-gp and regulated by potential genetic mechanisms in breast cancer remains unclear. In the present study, we further investigated the reversal effect and underlying mechanisms of MDR in breast cancer. Two small interfering RNA constructs (pSUPER-ß6shRNAs) targeting two different regions of the ß6 gene have been designed to inhibit αvß6 expression by transfecting them into adriamycin-resistant MCF-7/ADR cell lines. Suppression of αvß6 dramatically downregulated the levels of MDR1 gene mRNA and P-gp. In particular, ß6shRNA-mediated silencing of αvß6 gene increased significantly the cellular accumulation of Rhodamine 123 and markedly decreased drug efflux ability, suggesting that ß6shRNAs indeed inhibit P-gp mediated drug efflux and effectively overcome drug resistance. In addition, inhibition of integrin αvß6 suppressed the expression of ERK1/2. Interestingly, our data demonstrate that suppression of integrin αvß6 caused significant downregulation of Bcl-2, Bcl-xL and upregulation of caspase 3, Bad, accompanied by increasing activity of cytochrome C. A possible connection between αvß6 and P-gp in drug resistance biology is suggested. Taken together, ß6shRNA could efficiently inhibit αvß6 and MDR1 expression in vitro and these findings may offer specifically useful means to reverse MDR in breast cancer therapy.

To compare short-term and long-term efficacy after laparoscopic left hepatectomy(LLR) to open left hepatectomy(OLH) for primary left-sided hepatolithiasis. Methods: Clinical data of 187 patients with left-sided hepatolithiasis and underwent laparoscopically or open left-sided hepatectomy from October 2014 to October 2019 at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University were retrospectively analyzed in this propensity score matching (PSM) study and were matched in terms of age, sex, body mass index, liver function, ASA score, comorbidities, history of biliary surgery, and smoking history on the ratio of 1∶1.There were 47 cases in each group and the mean age were (54.7±12.3)years old(range:34 to 75 years old) and (53.2±12.6) years old (range: 34 to 75 years old) in open and laparoscopically group respectively. The data of operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospital-stay, complication rate, biliary fistula rate, stone clearance rate, and stone recurrence rate were compared. The quantitative data were compared using t-test or rank-sum test. Count data were analyzed with χ(2) test or Fisher test. Results: No significant difference was observed in the clinical characteristics of included 94 patients in this study(all P>0.05).The length of the postoperative hospital-stay after OLH was significantly higher than that in the LLH group((10.8±3.1) days vs.(8.5±2.2)days, t=4.085, P=0.000). LLR significantly decreased the incidence of postoperative biliary fistula compared with the OLH (6.3% vs.21.2%, χ(2)=4.374, P=0.036) and the rates of postoperative complications in the OLH group was significantly higher than that in the LLH group (48.9% vs.27.6%, χ(2)=4.502, P=0.034). Moreover, the stone recurrence rates in the LLH group was significantly lower than that after OLR (4.2% vs. 17.0%, χ(2)=4.029, P=0.045). OLH (95% CI: 1.55 to 10.75, P=0.004) and postoperative complications (95% CI: 1.29 to 9.52, P=0.013) were independent risk factors for prolonged hospital stay. OLH (95% CI: 1.428 to 44.080, P=0.018) and residual stones (95% CI: 1.580 to 62.379, P=0.014) were independent risk factors for the occurrence of postoperative biliary fistula. Biliary fistula (95% CI: 1.078 to 24.517, P=0.040) was an independent risk factor for the recurrence of stones. Conclusion: Compared with OLH, LLH is safe and effective for the treatment of the primary left-sided hepatolithiasis with the clinical benefits of shorter hospital stay, fewer morbidity and biliary fistula occurrence, and lower stone recurrence rates.

RESUMEN

Obesity is a well-known primary risk factor for osteoarthritis (OA). In recent decades, the biomechanics-based theoretical paradigm for the pathogenesis of obesity-associated OA has been gradually but fundamentally modified. This modification is a result of accumulating evidence that biological factors also contribute to the etiology of the disease. The gut microbiota is a complicated ecosystem that profoundly influences the health of the host and can be modulated by the combined effects of environmental stimuli and genetic factors. Recently, enteric dysbacteriosis has been identified as a causal factor in the initiation and propagation of obesity-associated OA in animal models. Gut microbes and their components, microbe-associated lipid metabolites, and OA interact at both systemic and local levels through mechanisms that involve interplay with the innate immune system. However, the demonstration of causality in humans will require further studies. Nonetheless, probiotics, prebiotics, dietary habits and exercise, which aid the restoration of a healthy microbial community, are potential therapeutic approaches in the treatment of obesity-associated OA.

The skin has many important roles in dairy cattle, and skinfold thickness could be used as an indicator of body fat deposition. The objectives of this study were to estimate genetic parameters of skinfold thickness and to explore its association with body condition score (BCS) and milk production traits in a Chinese Holstein population. Skinfold thicknesses over the neck (STN) and the last rib (STR), BCS, and test-day records of milk production traits were available for 6,416 lactating Holstein cows in the summers of 2015 and 2016 in Beijing, China. Multi-trait animal models were used to estimate variance and covariance components using the DMU software. The average STN was 7.15 ± 1.28 mm, and the average STR was 11.76 ± 1.95 mm (mean ± standard deviation). Estimated heritability was 0.13 ± 0.03 for STN and 0.26 ± 0.04 for STR. We detected a high genetic correlation (0.79 ± 0.08; heritability ± standard error) between STN and STR. Genetic correlations between skinfold thickness and BCS were low to moderate: 0.18 between STR and BCS, and 0.33 between STN and BCS. Genetic correlations between skinfold thickness and milk yield, milk fat percentage, and milk protein percentage were negligible, ranging from -0.02 to 0.15. Collectively, skinfold thickness is characterized as a trait with moderate heritability. Skinfold thickness is sensitive to changes in body condition or fat deposition across parities and lactation stages in milking cows, and we confirmed the complementary nature of skinfold thickness and BCS genetically as well as phenotypically by comparing their changing trends throughout lactation and across lactations. The use of skinfold thickness, together with BCS, can assist in the monitoring of changes in body fat deposition to achieve higher management precision.

The 1918 "Spanish" pandemic is the earliest known influenza H1N1 virus. Since then H1N1 viruses circulated between humans and animals continuously. With the increased amount of samples of H1N1 viruses and technology development, researchers have been studying how the viruses evolved. Here, we analyzed HA and NA genes of H1N1 viruses from three aspects: host distribution, geographical distribution and phylogenetic analysis. The data showed hosts were predominantly human, swine and poultry, and other hosts were mainly cat, ferret, wild bear, canine, cheetah and seal. In terms of geographical distribution, the North America and Eurasia were the main H1N1 influenza pandemic areas. Of them, the United States, China, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, India and Singapore were the most affected. The phylogenetic analysis of surface genes of influenza H1N1 viruses from 1918 to 2017 worldwide revealed the distribution of all avian influenza viruses (AIVs) showed a clear geographical difference, mainly concentrated in Eurasia and America. American and Eurasian swine viruses might be the ancestors of the 2009 pandemic virus' HA and NA genes. Swine influenza viruses played an important role in the spread of influenza viruses across species. To our knowledge, this is the first large-scale phylogenetic analysis of HA and NA genes of influenza H1N1 viruses worldwide until now. Our findings further emphasize the importance of surveillance of the genetic diversity of influenza H1N1 viruses in different hosts and raised more concerns about the long-time monitoring. Objective: To investigate the MRI and diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) features of focal peliosis hepatis. Methods: The clinical data and MRI of 19 cases with focal peliosis hepatis confirmed by pathology from January 2012 to March 2018 in Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University were retrospectively analyzed. The number, location, size, shape, signal intensity of plain scan of lesions, enhancement pattern of lesions, vessels within lesions, and perfusion disorders of hepatic parenchyma were analyzed. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of the lesions and adjacent hepatic parenchyma were measured, then the differences between them were explored statistically. All 24 lesions were categorized into group A with tumor-related chemotherapy and group B without tumor-related chemotherapy. The differences of MR features between the two groups were explored statistically. Results: In all 24 lesions, 22 lesions were located in the right lobe, 2 lesions in the left lobe. The median size was 7.5-72.0 (24.4±17.2) mm.On T(1)WI,21 lesions showed slightly hypointensity, 1 lesion showed slightly hyperintensity and 2 lesions were isointensity; all 24 lesions showed slightly hyperintensity on T(2)WI, and isointensity or slightly hyperintensity on DWI. The mean ADC value was (1.511±0.415)×10(-3) mm(2)/s in the lesions and (1.769±0.690)×10(-3) mm(2)/s in the adjacent hepatic parenchyma, which showed no difference between the two groups (P>0.05). On dynamic MR images, 20 lesions showed gradually filling enhancement, 4 lesions showed markedly and persistent enhancement. Punctiform or filiform vessels were found in 9 lesions. Adjacent hepatic perfusion disorders showed in 8 lesions. The median lesion size was 7.5-38.5(17.6±9.8) mm in the tumor-related-chemotherapy group and 9.0-72.0(33.8±21.2) mm in the no chemotherapy group.There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: The MRI performance of focal peliosis hepatis had a certain characteristic. MRI combined with diffusion weighted imaging could help to make diagnoses.

BACKGROUND: We identified the predictive factors and prognostic significance of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for achieving pathologic complete response (pCR) before curative surgery for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in hepatitis B-endemic areas. METHODS: Among 753 HCC patients treated with surgery, 124 patients underwent preoperative TACE before liver resection (LR), and 166 before liver transplantation (LT) between 2005 and 2016. Overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) were analyzed. Pathologic response (PR) was defined as the mean percentage of necrotic area, and pCR was defined as the absence of viable tumor. RESULTS: A total of 34 (27%) and 38 (23%) patients had pCR before LR and LT, respectively. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) < 100 ng/mL and single tumor were significant preoperative predictors of pCR. OS and RFS were significantly improved in patients with pCR or a PR ≥ 90%, but not in patients with PR ≥ 50% after LR and LT. On multivariate analyses, PR ≥ 90% remained an independent predictor of better OS and RFS in LR and LT groups. CONCLUSION: Overall, our data clearly demonstrate that pCR predicts favorable prognosis after curative surgery for HCC, and predictors of pCR are AFP <100 ng/mL and single tumor.
