RESUMEN

In stress-induced takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC) high levels of catecholamines, including epinephrine, may be detected in blood. On the other hand, administration of exogenous epinephrine may occasionally result in TC. A CASE REPORT: The authors describe a case of a 58-year-old, otherwise healthy female, with TC which occurred after intravenous injection of 1 mg of epinephrine against cardiac arrest provoked by pneumoperitoneum performed before planned laparoscopic cholecystectomy. She was admitted 3 days earlier due to biliary colic following a dietary mistake. Bradycardia followed by asystole took place immediately after carbon dioxide insufflation into the peritoneal cavity. Normal heart rhythm, with transient tachycardia, recurred after a short cardiac massage, intravenous atropine and epinephrine administration as well as pneumoperitoneum decompression. ECG after the episode showed nonspecific ST segment changes. Left ventricular dysfunction assessed in echocardiography as contractile abnormalities and decreased global longitudinal strain (GLS) represented an unusual type of TC - intermediate between mid-basal and focal one. These abnormalities, involving mainly the posterior wall, resolved rapidly within 24 hours without any specific treatment. The absence of coronary artery disease was confirmed by 128-row multidetector computed tomography. TC should be considered as a potential complication of epinephrine action; however, different factors related to laparoscopic procedure including general anesthesia, intubation, underlying disease and mental stress might have been also involved in TC triggering in the case presented.

Bupivacaine is a long-acting local anesthetic (LA) used for cutaneous infiltration, peripheral nerve blocks, epidural and spinal anesthesia. However, its application may result in cardiovascular complications such as: hypotension, bradycardia, cardiac arrest and toxic myocardial injury. The authors describe a 53-year-old male with a history of cigarette smoking, admitted for an elective inguinal hernia surgery. Before surgery, the patient received subarachnoid injection of bupivacaine (20 mg). After the operation, he developed transient hypotension. Blood pressure returned to normal after gelofusine infusion; no sympathomimetics were administered. The male denied chest pain; however, ECG showed ST segment elevation coexisting with left ventricular anterolateral hypokinesia and decreased longitudinal strain in echocardiography. A significant increase in troponin I level was suggestive rather of myocardial infarction than of takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Urgent coronary angiography revealed left anterior descending artery spasm, which remitted after intracoronary nitroglycerin injection. Normalization of ECG and echocardiography was observed within a few days. The authors indicate that the presented atypical adverse effect of bupivacaine manifested itself with delay and that coronary spasm proceeded without angina. A close observation of the patient after anesthetic procedure with LA should be extended over the postoperative period.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common and comprehensively studied malignancies. Hypoxic conditions during formation of CRC may support the development of more aggressive cancers. Hypoxia inducible factor (HIF), a major player in cancerous tissue adaptation to hypoxia, is negatively regulated by the family of prolyl hydroxylase enzymes (PHD1, PHD2, PHD3) and asparaginyl hydroxylase, called factor inhibiting HIF (FIH). METHODS: PHD1, PHD2, PHD3 and FIH gene expression was evaluated using quantitative RT-PCR and western blotting in primary colonic adenocarcinoma and adjacent histopathologically unchanged colonic mucosa from patients who underwent radical surgical resection of the colon (n=90), and the same methods were used for assessment of PHD3 gene expression in HCT116 and DLD-1 CRC cell lines. DNA methylation levels of the CpG island in the promoter regulatory region of PHD1, PHD2, PHD3 and FIH were assessed using bisulfite DNA sequencing and high resolution melting analysis (HRM) for patients and HRM analysis for CRC cell lines. RESULTS: We found significantly lower levels of PHD1, PHD2 and PHD3 transcripts (p=0.00026; p<0.00001; p<0.00001) and proteins (p=0.004164; p=0.0071; p<0.00001) in primary cancerous than in histopathologically unchanged tissues. Despite this, we did not observe statistically significant differences in FIH transcript levels between cancerous and histopathologically unchanged colorectal tissue, but we found a significantly increased level of FIH protein in CRC (p=0.0169). The reduced PHD3 expression was correlated with significantly increased DNA methylation in the CpG island of the PHD3 promoter regulatory region (p<0.0001). We did not observe DNA methylation in the CpG island of the PHD1, PHD2 or FIH promoter in cancerous and histopathologically unchanged colorectal tissue. We also showed that 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine induced DNA demethylation leading to increased PHD3 transcript and protein level in HCT116 cells. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that reduced PHD3 expression in cancerous tissue was accompanied by methylation of the CpG rich region located within the first exon and intron of the PHD3 gene. The diminished expression of PHD1 and PHD2 and elevated level of FIH protein in cancerous tissue compared to histopathologically unchanged colonic mucosa was not associated with DNA methylation within the CpG islands of the PHD1, PHD2 and FIH genes.

BACKGROUND: Cancer continues to be the leading cause of mortality in high-income countries, necessitating the development of more precise and effective treatment modalities. Immunotherapy, specifically adoptive cell transfer of T cell receptor (TCR)-engineered T cells (TCR-T therapy), has shown promise in engaging the immune system for cancer treatment. One of the biggest challenges in the development of TCR-T therapies is the proper prediction of the pairing between TCRs and peptide-human leukocyte antigen (pHLAs). Modern computational immunology, using artificial intelligence (AI)-based platforms, provides the means to optimize the speed and accuracy of TCR screening and discovery. OBJECTIVE: This study proposes an observational clinical trial protocol to collect patient samples and generate a database of pHLA:TCR sequences to aid the development of an AI-based platform for efficient selection of specific TCRs. METHODS: The multicenter observational study, involving 8 participating hospitals, aims to enroll patients diagnosed with stage II, III, or IV colorectal cancer adenocarcinoma. RESULTS: Patient recruitment has recently been completed, with 100 participants enrolled. Primary tumor tissue and peripheral blood samples have been obtained, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells have been isolated and cryopreserved. Nucleic acid extraction (DNA and RNA) has been performed in 86 cases. Additionally, 57 samples underwent whole exome sequencing to determine the presence of somatic mutations and RNA sequencing for gene expression profiling. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study may have a significant impact on the treatment of patients with colorectal cancer. The comprehensive database of pHLA:TCR sequences generated through this observational clinical trial will facilitate the development of the AI-based platform for TCR selection. The results obtained thus far demonstrate successful patient recruitment and sample collection, laying the foundation for further analysis and the development of an innovative tool to expedite and enhance TCR selection for precision cancer treatments. BACKGROUND: The importance of 17ß-estradiol (E2) in the prevention of large bowel tumorigenesis has been shown in many epidemiological studies. Extragonadal E2 may form by the aromatase pathway from androstenedione or the sulfatase pathway from estrone (E1) sulfate followed by E1 reduction to E2 by 17-ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (HSD17B1), so HSD17B1 gene expression may play an important role in the production of E2 in peripheral tissue, including the colon. METHODS: HSD17B1 expression was analyzed in colorectal cancer cell lines (HT29, SW707) and primary colonic adenocarcinoma tissues collected from fifty two patients who underwent radical colon surgical resection. Histopathologically unchanged colonic mucosa located at least 10-20 cm away from the cancerous lesions was obtained from the same patients. Expression level of HSD17B1 using quantitative PCR and western blot were evaluated. DNA methylation level in the 5' flanking region of HSD17B1 CpG rich region was assessed using bisulfite DNA sequencing and HRM analysis. The influence of DNA methylation on HSD17B1 expression was further evaluated by ChIP analysis in HT29 and SW707 cell lines. The conversion of estrone (E1) in to E2 was determined by electrochemiluminescence method. RESULTS: We found a significant decrease in HSD17B1 transcript (p = 0.0016) and protein (p = 0.0028) levels in colorectal cancer (CRC) from the proximal but not distal colon and rectum. This reduced HSD17B1 expression was associated with significantly increased DNA methylation (p = 0.003) in the CpG rich region located in the 5' flanking sequence of the HSD17B1 gene in CRC in the proximal but not distal colon and rectum. We also showed that 5-dAzaC induced demethylation of the 5' flanking region of HSD17B1, leading to increased occupation of the promoter by Polymerase II, and increased transcript and protein levels in HT29 and SW707 CRC cells, which contributed to the increase in E2 formation. CONCLUSIONS: Our results showed that reduced HSD17B1 expression can be associated with DNA methylation in the 5' flanking region of HSD17B1 in CRC from the proximal colon.

INTRODUCTION: Vibrio vulnificus infections are a growing problem worldwide. In recent years, infections with this bacteria have been reported in Central Europe, especially in the German Baltic coast but also in France and Italy. Climate warming causes the sea temperature to increase every year, which translates to an increased risk of infections from the Vibrio group. Most of these are mild and present as wound infections, but some patients develop life-threatening sepsis from either ingestion of infected mollusks or wound lesions that develop into generalized infections. Illness may be associated with necrotizing fasciitis and may require several weeks of therapy, often based on a surgical operation, demarcation of necrosis or limb amputation. A case such as the one described in this manuscript has not been previously described in Poland and demonstrates the need for a multidisciplinary approach to infection with Vibrio vulnificus. CASE PRESENTATION: A 68-year-old patient was pricked with an unknown object in the side of a lower limb during his stay at the Polish seaside. He developed a life-threatening infection in the form of severe sepsis with multiple organ failure. He required broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy, and after obtaining results for Vibrio vulnificus targeted therapy, a surgical operation with skin lesion decompression and fasciotomy was performed. Finally, hyperbaric chamber therapy was given. The patient's general condition improved, and local changes and his vital parameters stabilized. CONCLUSION: Vibrio vulnificus infection may be confused with other causes of skin and subcutaneous tissue infection, although it requires a different approach and different targeted antibiotic therapies. This infection may take the form of a life-threatening disease requiring a multidisciplinary approach.

INTRODUCTION: Chest pain is one of the most common symptoms with which patients report to the doctor. The reason for this is the fear of the sick, who often equate this symptom with dangerous diseases such as heart attack. The primary source of pain does not always have to be located within the chest. Colon perforation is a rare but possible complication of colonoscopy, which may result in free gas entering the mediastinum which is accompanied by chest pain. CASE REPORT: We present the case of a 78-year-old woman who reported to the hospital emergency department with chest pain, shortness of breath and abdominal pain. On the basis of imaging examinations, perforation of sigmoid affected by diverticulosis, complicated by pneumomediastinum and retroperitoneal emphysema, was suspected. The aforementioned ailments were caused by iatrogenic perforation of the sigmoid during diagnostic colonoscopy performed on an outpatient basis a few hours before reporting to the hospital. The patient was urgently qualified for laparotomy. Intraoperatively, perforation was confirmed at the rectosigmoid junction, which was the cause of retroperitoneal and pneumomediastinum with rightsided emphysema of the lateral neck region. No fluid or intestinal contents were found in the abdomen. The sigmoid colon and upper rectum were resected via double-stapled anastomosis performed between the descending colon and rectum. The patient was discharged home in good condition on the 7th postoperative day. CONCLUSIONS: Colonoscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure that is considered relatively safe, but also carries complications such as bleeding or perforation of the large intestine. Diverticular disease is a common condition which most often affects the sigmoid colon. In areas of the weakest resistance, diverticulum formation occurs as a result of increased intra-abdominal pressure, which is an additional risk factor for perforation during colonoscopy. It is important to remember the possible different clinical presentation of gastrointestinal perforation, which may also manifest as chest pain. With early detection and surgical treatment, life-threatening complications associated with the development of pneumothorax can be avoided.

Colorectal cancer is recognized as the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Thus, there is ongoing search for potential new biomarkers allowing quicker and less invasive detection of the disease and prediction of the treatment outcome. Therefore, the aim of our study was to identify colorectal cancer specific miRNAs expressed in cancerous and healthy tissue from the same patient and to further correlate the presence of the same miRNAs in the circulation as potential biomarkers for diagnosis. In the current study we detected a set of 40 miRNAs differentially regulated in tumor tissue when comparing with healthy tissue. Additionally, we found 8 miRNAs differentially regulated in serum of colorectal cancer patients. Interestingly, there was no overlap in miRNAs regulated in tissue and serum, suggesting that serum regulated miRNAs may be not actively secreted from colorectal tumor cells. However, four of differentially expressed miRNAs, including miR-21, miR-17, miR-20a and miR-32 represent the miRNAs characteristic for different tumor types, including breast, colon, lung, pancreas, prostate and stomach cancer. This finding suggests important groups of miRNAs which can be further validated as markers for diagnosis of tumor tissue and regulation of carcinogenesis.

Dysregulation of estrogen related pathways is implicated colorectal cancer (CRC) development. However, significance of intratissue concentration of estrone (E1) and 17ß-estradiol (E2) in relation to estrogen receptor (ESR) expression level was not addressed so far. Herein, we measured E1 and E2 intratissue concentration using liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI LC/MS) and mRNA levels of ESR1 and ESR2 using RT-qPCR in cancerous and histopathologically unchanged tissue from 75 and 110 CRC patients, respectively. The obtained results were associated with clinicopathological factors, expression of estrogen dependent genes (CTNNB1, CCND1) and prognostic significance. We found no statistically significant differences in E1 or E2 concentration between cancerous tissue and histopathologically unchanged counterparts. Moreover, mRNA levels of ESR1 and ESR2 were significantly decreased in cancerous tissue compared with histopathologically unchanged (p=0.00001). Log rank analysis revealed no benefit of low E1 to E2 ratio, high E1, E2 concentration or ESR1, ESR2 mRNA level for patients' overall (OS) and disease free survival (DFS). Interestingly, we have observed that patients with low ESR1 mRNA level coupled with low E1 intratissue concentration had a significant decrease in DFS compared with group of patients with high ESR1 mRNA level and high E1 concentration (HR=0.16, 95% CI 0.02-1.05; p=0.06). Furthermore, patients with low E1 concentration and low ESR1 transcript had significantly higher CTNNB1 and CCND1 mRNA level compare with subgroup with high level of both grouping factors. Our study indicates a potential value of estrogen intratissue concentration and its receptor expression level for CRC patients' prognosis.

PURPOSE: Ten eleven translocation (TET) enzyme activity is essential for active DNA demethylation in biological processes, and their altered expression has been observed in various malignancies. Therefore, we investigated DNA methylation and mRNA levels of all TETs in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. METHODS: TET mRNA levels were evaluated using quantitative RT-PCR in primary cancerous and histopathologically unchanged colorectal tissues from patients who underwent radical surgical colon resection (n = 113). DNA methylation levels of the TET CpG island were assessed using bisulfite DNA sequencing and high-resolution melting analysis. RESULTS: We found reduced transcript levels of TET1, TET2 and TET3 in cancerous tissue compared with their histopathologically unchanged counterparts (p = 0.000011; p = 0.000001; p = 0.00031, respectively). Importantly, multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed favorable overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) outcomes for patients with high TET2 mRNA levels in histopathologically unchanged tissue (HR(OS) = 0.091, 95 % CI 0.011-0.77, p = 0.028; HR(DFS) = 0.21, 95 % CI 0.04-1.06, p = 0.059). Moreover, we found no DNA methylation in the TET2 and TET3 promoter regions in cancerous and histopathologically unchanged tissue. In contrast, we reported TET1 DNA hypermethylation in a small fraction of patients (n = 12/113). CONCLUSION: To best of our knowledge, our study is the first to investigate TET mRNA levels in a cohort of CRC patients and correlate them with patients' prognosis. Present study provides the evidence that TET2 mRNA expression may be an independent prognostic factor for disease recurrence and outcome. Additionally, our findings initially indicate the importance of DNA methylation in regulating TET1 expression.

Epidemiological studies indicate that 17ß-estradiol (E2) prevents colorectal cancer (CRC). Organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs) are involved in the cellular uptake of various endogenous and exogenous substrates, including hormone conjugates. Because transfer of estrone sulfate (E1-S) can contribute to intra-tissue conversion of estrone to the biologically active form -E2, it is evident that the expression patterns of OATPs may be relevant to the analysis of CRC incidence and therapy. We therefore evaluated DNA methylation and transcript levels of two members of the OATP family, OATP3A1 and OATP4A1, that may be involved in E1-S transport in colorectal cancer patients. We detected a significant reduction in OATP3A1 and a significant increase in OATP4A1 mRNA levels in cancerous tissue, compared with histopathologically unchanged tissue (n=103). Moreover, we observed DNA hypermethylation in the OATP3A1 promoter region in a small subset of CRC patients and in HCT116 and Caco-2 colorectal cancer cell lines. We also observed increased OATP3A1 transcript following treatment with 5-aza-2-deoxycytidine and sodium butyrate. The OATP4A1 promoter region was hypomethylated in analyzed tissues and CRC cell lines and was not affected by these treatments. Our results suggest a potential mechanism for OATP3A1 downregulation that involves DNA methylation during colorectal carcinogenesis.

A total proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) is considered the surgery of choice for definitive management of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and some patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). However, this surgical treatment is often associated with pouchitis, a long-term complication that occurs mostly in UC patients. The purpose of this study was to better define the molecular background of pouchitis. A microarray-based survey was performed using pouch mucosal samples collected from 28 and 8 patients undergoing surgery for UC and FAP, respectively. There were 4,770 genes that significantly differentiated uninflamed from inflamed mucosal samples, and their functional features were represented mostly by metabolic and cell proliferation pathways. In contrast, functional analyses of aberrantly expressed genes between UC and FAP samples, irrespective of mucosal inflammation status, revealed multiple pathways and terms that were linked to changes in immune response. Interestingly, the comparison of uninflamed UC and FAP samples identified a set of 29 altered probe sets, including an inflammation-related transcript encoding a Charcot-Leyden crystal (CLC) protein. The most distinct changes in gene expression profiles differentiating uninflamed UC and FAP pouch mucosal samples were attributed to the Gene Ontology category innate immune response. Our study confirmed that alterations in immune responses can be found between patients who underwent surgery for UC and FAP, independent of the pouch inflammation status. This observation may be important when managing IPAA patients.

UNLABELLED: Hypoxic conditions during the formation of colorectal cancer may support the development of more aggressive tumors. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is a heterodimeric complex, composed of oxygen-induced HIFα and constitutively expressed HIFß subunits, which mediates the primary transcriptional response to hypoxic stress. Among HIFα isoforms, HIF1α (HIF1A) and endothelial PAS domain-containing protein 1 (EPAS1) are able to robustly activate hypoxia-responsive gene signatures. Although posttranslational regulation of HIFα subunits is well described, less is known about their transcriptional regulation. Here, molecular analysis determined that EPAS1 mRNA was significantly reduced in primary colonic adenocarcinoma specimens compared with histopathologically nonneoplastic tissue from 120 patients. In contrast, no difference in HIF1A mRNA levels was observed between cancerous and noncancerous tissue. Bisulfite DNA sequencing and high-resolution melting analysis identified significant DNA hypermethylation in the EPAS1 regulatory region from cancerous tissue compared with nonneoplastic tissue. Importantly, multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed a high HR for patients with cancer with low EPAS1 transcript levels (HR, 4.91; 95% confidence interval, CI, 0.42-56.15; P = 0.047) and hypermethylated EPAS1 DNA (HR, 33.94; 95% CI, 2.84-405.95; P = 0.0054). Treatment with a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, 5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC/Decitabine), upregulated EPAS1 expression in hypoxic colorectal cancer cells that were associated with DNA demethylation of the EPAS1 regulatory region. In summary, EPAS1 is transcriptionally regulated by DNA methylation in colorectal cancer. IMPLICATIONS: DNA methylation and mRNA status of EPAS1 have novel prognostic potential for colorectal cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered an estrogen-dependent malignancy, and intratissue estrogen concentration can be controlled by steroid sulfatase (STS). Little is known about changes in the expression of STS during the development of CRC. Therefore, we analysed the STS mRNA levels in primary colonic adenocarcinoma tissues and adjacent histopathologically unchanged colonic mucosa from patients who underwent radical colon resection (n=90). We found a statistically significant decrease in STS transcript levels in CRC (P=0.0453). Moreover, we found that sodium butyrate (NaBu) significantly upregulated STS transcript levels in DLD-1 and HCT116 CRC cells. Our results suggest that STS expression can be decreased in the process of large intestinal carcinogenesis. Moreover, we observed that NaBu might increase STS expression in CRC cells.

INTRODUCTION: Peritoneal adhesions, the fibrotic bands that form between the surfaces in the peritoneal cavity following surgery, still pose a difficult clinical challenge. AIM: To evaluate the SprayShield™ Adhesion Barrier System (PEG ester amine solution and a buffer solution) in reducing post-operative adhesion formation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This was a prospective, multi-center, randomized, single blind study. A total of 11 subjects diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) or familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) were randomized: 8 to the SprayShield™ arm and 3 to the control arm. SprayShield™ was applied on the viscera directly under the midline peritoneal incision and at the site of ileostomy. During the follow-up surgery, the incidence, extent, and severity of post-operative adhesion formation were evaluated, as well as the time required to mobilize the ileal loop. RESULTS: In patients who received SprayShield™ the time required to mobilize the ileal loop at the ileostomy closure was slightly shorter and the incidence and severity of adhesions were somewhat lower vs. control subjects (NS). CONCLUSIONS: SprayShield™ was found to be easy to use, safe, and quick to apply, and performed well in adherence and conformity. The incidence and severity of adhesions were lower for SprayShield™ subjects vs. control subjects, but due to the limited number of patients there are not enough data to confirm the effectiveness of the SprayShield™ Adhesion Barrier System in prevention of adhesions.

UNLABELLED: The numbers of patients with diagnosed Crohn's disease in Poland continue to be on the rise. It may be assumed that it is associated not with an increased incidence but with significant advancements in diagnostic techniques which in an increasingly better manner solve problems of abdominal pain. One of such methods is magnetic resonance enterography, which gives high hope in the diagnostics of Crohn's disease. The aim of the study was the evaluation of the results of magnetic resonance enterography (MREG) and their comparison with the results of histopathological examination o perioperative specimens. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The clinical material comprised 48 patients with suspected Crohn's disease. Colonoscopy was performed in all the patients, followed by magnetic resonance enterography, which evaluated the lesion localisation, large intestine wall thickening, small intestine stenosis, mesenteric vessel proliferation, infiltration of surrounding adipose tissue, lymph node enlargement, presence of enteroenteral, enterovesical and enterocutaneous fistulas. Next, a surgical procedure was performed, with collection of specimen for histopathology. The examination results were compared with those of magnetic resonance enterography. RESULTS: MREG was performed in 48 individuals. Suspected Crohn's disease based on the above examination was diagnosed in 35 cases, isolated small intestine inflammation--in 5, and fibrosis in the remaining 5 patients. No significant differences were found between the lesion localisation done by MREG or perioperativelly. Crohn's disease was confirmed by histopathology in 36 cases. The sensitivity of MREG with histopathology was 91.6%, and the specificity--77.8%. CONCLUSIONS: Magnetic resonance enterography is a highly effective and sensitice method in the diagnostics of Crohn's disease, free of adverse effects and possible to be performed even in pregnant female patients.

Evidence to date that germline mutations in the tumor suppressor gene BRCA1 increase the incidence of colorectal cancer is mixed, and both positive and negative results have been reported. To establish whether or not inherited variation in BRCA1 influences the risk of colorectal cancer, we genotyped 2,398 unselected patients with colorectal cancer and 4,570 controls from Poland for three BRCA1 founder mutations (C61G, 4153delA and 5382insC). A BRCA1 mutation was present in 0.42% of unselected cases of colorectal cancer and in 0.48% of controls (OR = 0.8; P = 0.8). The mutation frequency was slightly higher (0.93%) in 321 cases who reported a family history of colon cancer in a first- or second-degree relative (OR = 1.9; P = 0.5). A BRCA1 mutation was also seen in excess (0.82%) in 851 cases who were diagnosed with colorectal cancer at age 60 or earlier (OR = 1.7; P = 0.3). The mean age at onset in carriers was 7 years younger than in non-carriers (57.0 years vs. 64.0) and the difference was significant (P = 0.05). This study suggests that BRCA1 mutations may be associated with early-onset of colorectal cancer.
