RESUMEN

Vertebral bone is subject to a distinct set of disease processes from long bones, including a much higher rate of solid tumour metastases1-4. The basis for this distinct biology of vertebral bone has so far remained unknown. Here we identify a vertebral skeletal stem cell (vSSC) that co-expresses ZIC1 and PAX1 together with additional cell surface markers. vSSCs display formal evidence of stemness, including self-renewal, label retention and sitting at the apex of their differentiation hierarchy. vSSCs are physiologic mediators of vertebral bone formation, as genetic blockade of the ability of vSSCs to generate osteoblasts results in defects in the vertebral neural arch and body. Human counterparts of vSSCs can be identified in vertebral endplate specimens and display a conserved differentiation hierarchy and stemness features. Multiple lines of evidence indicate that vSSCs contribute to the high rates of vertebral metastatic tropism observed in breast cancer, owing in part to increased secretion of the novel metastatic trophic factor MFGE8. Together, our results indicate that vSSCs are distinct from other skeletal stem cells and mediate the unique physiology and pathology of vertebrae, including contributing to the high rate of vertebral metastasis.

Craniosynostosis is a group of disorders of premature calvarial suture fusion. The identity of the calvarial stem cells (CSCs) that produce fusion-driving osteoblasts in craniosynostosis remains poorly understood. Here we show that both physiologic calvarial mineralization and pathologic calvarial fusion in craniosynostosis reflect the interaction of two separate stem cell lineages; a previously identified cathepsin K (CTSK) lineage CSC1 (CTSK+ CSC) and a separate discoidin domain-containing receptor 2 (DDR2) lineage stem cell (DDR2+ CSC) that we identified in this study. Deletion of Twist1, a gene associated with craniosynostosis in humans2,3, solely in CTSK+ CSCs is sufficient to drive craniosynostosis in mice, but the sites that are destined to fuse exhibit an unexpected depletion of CTSK+ CSCs and a corresponding expansion of DDR2+ CSCs, with DDR2+ CSC expansion being a direct maladaptive response to CTSK+ CSC depletion. DDR2+ CSCs display full stemness features, and our results establish the presence of two distinct stem cell lineages in the sutures, with both populations contributing to physiologic calvarial mineralization. DDR2+ CSCs mediate a distinct form of endochondral ossification without the typical haematopoietic marrow formation. Implantation of DDR2+ CSCs into suture sites is sufficient to induce fusion, and this phenotype was prevented by co-transplantation of CTSK+ CSCs. Finally, the human counterparts of DDR2+ CSCs and CTSK+ CSCs display conserved functional properties in xenograft assays. The interaction between these two stem cell populations provides a new biologic interface for the modulation of calvarial mineralization and suture patency.

Controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score as an original nutritional assessment tool can be used to assess the prognosis of patients with a variety of malignancies. However, the predictive power of CONUT in extranodal natural killer/T cell lymphoma (ENKTL) patients has never been demonstrated. Our retrospective multicenter study aimed to explore the prognostic value of CONUT in newly diagnosed ENKTL. A total of 1085 newly diagnosed ENKTL patients between 2003 and 2021 were retrospectively retrieved. Cox proportional hazard model was used to explore the prognostic factors of overall survival (OS). The survival rate of ENKTL was evaluated using Kaplan-Meier analysis, and log-rank test was applied to the difference between groups. We investigated the prognostic performance of CONUT, the International Prognostic Index (IPI), the Korean Prognostic Index (KPI), and the Prognostic Index of Natural Killer Cell Lymphoma (PINK) using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA). The median age at diagnosis for the whole cohort was 47 years, and the male to female ratio was 2.2:1. The 5-year OS for all patients was 72.2%. Multivariable analysis showed that CONUT, age, bone marrow involvement, ECOG PS score, and Chinese Southwest Oncology Group and Asia Lymphoma Study Group ENKTL stage were identified as independent predictive factors for OS. Based on multivariable results, a prognostic nomogram was developed. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that patients with severe malnutrition had poorest clinical outcome. In addition, ROC curves and DCA analysis proved that compared with IPI, KPI, and PINK models, the CONUT score-based nomogram showed a better prognostic predictive efficiency of ENKTL. CONUT could effectively stratify the prognosis of ENKTL and the proposed nomogram based on CONUT was an effective prognostic model for prediction.

The design of a micro-/nanoreactor is of great significance for catalytic ozonation, which can achieve effective mass transfer and expose powerful reaction species. Herein, the mesoporous carbon with atomic Fe-N4 sites embedded in the ordered carbon nanochannels (Fe-N4/CMK-3) was synthesized by the hard-template method. Fe-N4/CMK-3 can be employed as nanoreactors with preferred electronic and geometric catalytic microenvironments for the internal catalytic ozonation of CH3SH. During the CH3SH oxidation process, the mass transfer coefficient of the Fe-N4/CMK-3 confined system with sufficient O3 transfer featured a level of at least 1.87 × 10-5, which is 34.6 times that of the Fe-N4/C-Si unconfined system. Detailed experimental studies and theoretical calculations demonstrated that the anchored atomic Fe-N4 sites and nanoconfinement effects regulated the local electronic structure of the catalyst and promoted the activation of O3 molecules to produce atomic oxygen species (AOS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS), eventually achieving efficient oxidation of CH3SH into CO2/SO42-. Benefiting from the high diffusion rate and the augmentation of AOS/ROS, Fe-N4/CMK-3 exhibited an excellent poisoning tolerance, along with high catalytic durability. This contribution provides the proof-of-concept strategy for accelerating catalytic ozonation of sulfur-containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by combining confined catalysis and atomic catalysts and can be extended to the purification of other gaseous pollutants.

Elevated Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA load is common in lymphomas. However, it remains unclear whether the disparity in viral load and its prognostic value in lymphomas are correlated with Epstein-Barr encoding region (EBER) status. In this retrospective multicenter study, we collected the data of pretreatment whole blood EBV DNA (pre-EBV DNA) and EBER status and evaluated their disparity and prognostic values in lymphomas. A total of 454 lymphoma patients from December 2014 to August 2020 were retrospectively retrieved. Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni's adjustment were used to explore the disparity of EBV DNA and EBER status in lymphomas. Time-dependent receiver operating characteristic analysis and MaxStat analysis were used to determine optimal cutoff points of pre-EBV DNA load. Univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazards models were established for the estimation of prognostic factors. The positive rate of EBV DNA in natural killer T-cell lymphoma (NKTL) patients was higher than that in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma (FL) and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients, and the median positive pre-EBV copy number of NKTL was also higher than that of FL and DLBCL. EBV DNA could clearly distinguish the prognosis of DLBCL, NKTL, HL and peripheral T-cell lymphoma, and the integration of EBER status and EBV DNA could differentiate the prognosis of HL patients. Multivariable results revealed that pre-EBV DNA load had an effect on the prognosis of NKTL, FL and DLBCL. The status of pre-EBV DNA and EBER were disparate. Whole blood pre-EBV DNA predicted the prognosis of lymphomas, and the combination of EBV and EBER status could differentiate the prognosis of HL.

BACKGROUND: Traditional phenotype-based screening for ß-globin variant and ß-thalassemia using hematological parameters is time-consuming with low-resolution detection. Development of a MALDI-TOF-MS assay using alternative markers is needed. METHODS: We constructed a MALDI-TOF-MS-based approach for identifying various ß-globin disorders and classifying thalassemia major (TM) and thalassemia intermedia (TI) patients using 901 training samples with known HBB/HBA genotypes. We then validated the accuracy of population screening and clinical classification in 2 separate cohorts consisting of 16 172 participants and 201 ß-thalassemia patients. Traditional methods were used as controls. Genetic tests were considered the gold standard for testing positive specimens. RESULTS: We established a prediction model for identifying different forms of ß-globin disorders in a single MALDI-TOF-MS test based on δ- to ß-globin, γ- to α-globin, γ- to ß-globin ratios, and/or the abnormal globin-chain patterns. Our validation study yielded comparable results of clinical specificity (99.89% vs 99.71%), and accuracy (99.78% vs 99.16%) between the new assay and traditional methods but higher clinical sensitivity for the new method (97.52% vs 88.01%). The new assay identified 22 additional abnormal hemoglobins in 69 individuals including 9 novel ones, and accurately screened for 9 carriers of deletional hereditary persistence of fetal hemoglobin or δß-thalassemia. TM and TI were well classified in 178 samples out of 201 ß-thalassemia patients. CONCLUSIONS: MALDI-TOF-MS is a highly accurate, predictive tool that could be suitable for large-scale screening and clinical classification of ß-globin disorders.

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to compare the designed and achieved mesiodistal angulation of maxillary canines and posterior teeth (MCPT) for first premolar extraction with clear aligner treatment and identify the main influencing factors for preventing MCPT tipping toward the extraction space. METHODS: A total of 21 adults with first premolar extraction were recruited. The designed and achieved tooth movement of MCPT was measured by superimposing their respective pretreatment and posttreatment cone-beam computed tomography images and compared with the designed tooth movement in ClinCheck using the paired t test and scatter plot analysis. Influencing factors, including dental arch length change, canine distalization, and initial mesiodistal angulation, were analyzed using the linear mixed-effect model. RESULTS: Designed distal crown tipping (second premolar, 10.73 ± 3.22°; first molar, 9.83 ± 3.60°; second molar, 7.18 ± 2.36°) significantly increased the distal inclination of the second premolar (2.50° ± 5.15°; P ï¼œ0.001), first molar (1.07° ± 4.14°; P ï¼œ0.001), and second (0.70° ± 3.78°; P ï¼œ0.001). Furthermore, mesial tipping (8.59° ± 6.03°; P ï¼œ0.001) achieved appropriate distal crown tipping of canines (-6.43° ± 5.04°; P ï¼œ0.001). The implemented preliminary formulas showed that shortening of the dental arch length, the distance of canine distalization, and initial mesiodistal angulation were closely related to the antitipping design. CONCLUSIONS: Designed distal crown tipping of posterior teeth and mesial crown tipping of canines might prevent unwanted crown tipping toward the extraction space during space closure. The proposed preliminary formula could guide antitipping designs in clear aligner treatment.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal meningitis is a severe infectious disease of the central nervous system with high morbidity and mortality. Ureaplasma parvum is extremely rare in neonatal central nervous system infection. CASE PRESENTATION: We herein report a case of U. parvum meningitis in a full-term neonate who presented with fever and seizure complicated with subdural hematoma. After hematoma evacuation, the seizure disappeared, though the fever remained. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis showed inflammation with CSF pleocytosis (1135-1319 leukocytes/µl, mainly lymphocytes), elevated CSF protein levels (1.36-2.259 g/l) and decreased CSF glucose (0.45-1.21 mmol/l). However, no bacterial or viral pathogens in either CSF or blood were detected by routine culture or serology. Additionally, PCR for enteroviruses and herpes simplex virus was negative. Furthermore, the CSF findings did not improve with empirical antibiotics, and the baby experienced repeated fever. Thus, we performed metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) to identify the etiology of the infection. U. parvum was identified by mNGS in CSF samples and confirmed by culture incubation on mycoplasma identification medium. The patient's condition improved after treatment with erythromycin for approximately 5 weeks. CONCLUSIONS: Considering the difficulty of etiological diagnosis in neonatal U. parvum meningitis, mNGS might offer a new strategy for diagnosing neurological infections.

RESUMEN

Constructing catalysts with electronic metal-support interaction (EMSI) is promising for catalytic reactions. Herein, graphene-supported positively charged (Pt2+/Pt4+) atomically dispersed Pt catalysts (AD-Pt-G) with PtxC3 (x = 1, 2, and 4)-based EMSI coordination structures are achieved for boosting the catalytic ozonation for odorous CH3SH removal. A CH3SH removal efficiency of 91.5% can be obtained during catalytic ozonation using optimum 0.5AD-Pt-G within 12 h under a gas hourly space velocity of 60,000 mL h-1 g-1, whereas that of pure graphene is 40.4%. Proton transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometry, in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy/Raman, and electron spin resonance verify that the PtxC3 coordination structure with atomic Pt2+ sites on AD-Pt-G can activate O2 to generate peroxide species (*O2) for partial oxidation of CH3SH during the adsorption period and trigger O3 into surface atomic oxygen (*Oad), *O2, and superoxide radicals (·O2-) to accomplish a stable, high-efficiency, and deeper oxidation of CH3SH during the catalytic ozonation stage. Moreover, the results of XPS and DFT calculation imply the occurrence of Pt2+ → Pt4+ → Pt2+ recirculation on PtxC3 for AD-Pt-G to maintain the continuous catalytic ozonation for 12 h, i.e., Pt2+ species devote electrons in 5d-orbitals to activate O3, while Pt4+ species can be reduced back to Pt2+ via capturing electrons from CH3SH. This study can provide novel insights into the development of atomically dispersed Pt catalysts with a strong EMSI effect to realize excellent catalytic ozonation for air purification.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of mesotherapy with nanochip for facial rejuvenation.Methods: 24 volunteers with aging skin were treated with a polycomponent formulation - NCTF® BOOST 135 HA for 5 times (once weekly for 3 times and successively biweekly for 2 times). Photographs were taken by VISIA at baseline, and after 1, 4, 10 weeks, while global scores for photoaging (GSP), improvement scores, volunteers' satisfaction, parameters describing the properties of the skin, and adverse effects were assessed during each follow-up period.Results: Total 20 volunteers completed the treatment. Evaluation of the whole face showed that GSP, skin texture (ophthalmic wrinkles, dermal thickness, and intensity of collagen fibers of skin), and skin brightness (Lab value) significantly improved at 4 weeks compared to baseline, while the difference between 4 and 10 weeks was not statistically significant. No evident improvement was observed in pigmented spots, telangiectasia, skin tightening, trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), and skin hydration. Slight erythema, pain was the most common side effect.Conclusion: Mesotherapy with nanochip can improve skin texture and brightness, but the effect is not permanent. It is recommended that the treatment be used as a complementary method for patients with facial rejuvenation needs.

Plants constitute a major element of constructed wetlands (CWs). In this study, a coupled system comprising an integrated vertical flow CW (IVCW) and a microbial fuel cell (MFC) for swine wastewater treatment was developed to research the effects of macrophytes commonly employed in CWs, Canna indica, Acorus calamus, and Ipomoea aquatica, on decontamination and electricity production in the system. Because of the different root types and amounts of oxygen released by the roots, the rates of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) removal from the swine wastewater differed as well. In the unplanted, Canna indica, Acorus calamus, and Ipomoea aquatica systems, the COD removal rates were 80.20%, 88.07%, 84.70%, and 82.20%, respectively, and the NH4+-N removal rates were 49.96%, 75.02%, 70.25%, and 68.47%, respectively. The decontamination capability of the Canna indica system was better than those of the other systems. The average output voltages were 520±42, 715±20, 660±27, and 752±26mV for the unplanted, Canna indica, Acorus calamus, and Ipomoea aquatica systems, respectively, and the maximum power densities were 0.2230, 0.4136, 0.3614, and 0.4964W/m3, respectively. Ipomoea aquatica had the largest effect on bioelectricity generation promotion. In addition, electrochemically active bacteria, Geobacter and Desulfuromonas, were detected in the anodic biofilm by high-throughput sequencing analysis, and Comamonas (Proteobacteria), which is widely found in MFCs, was also detected in the anodic biofilm. These results confirmed the important role of plants in IVCW-MFCs.

We report a high-sensitivity fiber-optic ultrasonic sensor system using a self-injection-locked distributed-feedback (DFB) diode laser where a π-phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating (πFBG) serves as both the locking resonator and the sensing element in a fiber ring feedback loop. By controlling the delay time of the feedback light through a fiber stretcher, the laser wavelength is locked to an external cavity mode on the spectral slope of the πFBG, and the ultrasound-induced wavelength shifts of the πFBG are converted to laser intensity variation. The ultrasonic sensing scheme simplifies the feedback control because the self-injection locking automatically pulls the laser wavelength to the πFBG resonant wavelength. In addition, it improves the detection sensitivity because the frequency noise of the DFB laser is drastically reduced. We show that the sensor system achieves a strain sensitivity of 78 fε/Hz1/2 at around 200 kHz.

Gamma-interferon-inducible lysosomal thiol reductase (GILT) plays an important role in the processing of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II-restricted antigens by catalyzing disulfide bonds reduction. Herein, a GILT homolog (ScGILT) was identified from silver carp. Its open reading frame covers 771 base pairs, encoding a protein of 256 amino acids that possesses GILT signature sequence CQHGX2ECX2NX4C, active-site CXXC motif, and two potential N-linked glycosylation sites. The predicted tertiary structures of ScGILT and other GILTs were quite similar in shape and positional arrangement of the key motifs. ScGILT mRNA was constitutively expressed in all detected tissues, with high-level expression in fish immune organs, spleen and head kidney. After stimulation with lipopolysaccharide, the expression of ScGILT mRNA significantly increased in spleen and head kidney cells, and ScGILT protein translocated to late endosomes and lysosomes in HeLa cells. Recombinant ScGILT fused with a His6 tag was expressed and purified, and could reduce the interchain disulfide bonds of IgG at pH 4.5. These results suggested that ScGILT was capable of catalyzing disulfide bonds reduction, and then might play an important role in the processing of MHC class II-restricted antigens in silver carp.

Although microplastic (MP) pollution in freshwater systems is gaining attention, our knowledge of its distribution in small waterbodies is scarce. Small waterbodies are freshwater habitats to many species, including amphibians, that are vulnerable to MP pollution. This study analyzed the distribution and characteristics of MPs in 25 small waterbodies from the Yangtze River Delta, China. MPs were detected in surface water, sediment, and tadpoles with abundances ranging from 0.48 to 21.52 items L-1, 35.76 to 3185.33 items kg-1, and 0 to 2.73 items individual-1 (0 to 168.48 items g-1), respectively. The dominant shape and polymer of MPs in water and tadpole samples were polyester (PES) fibers, and polypropylene (PP) fibers and fragments were dominant in sediment samples. In addition, MPs were primarily <0.5 mm in length in all samples. Tadpole length was positively correlated to the number of MPs detected. The abundance, shape, and polymer distribution of MPs in tadpoles resembled that of water rather than sediment, suggesting that tadpoles likely take up MPs from the surrounding water. This study demonstrated that MPs are abundant in these small waterbodies and are ingested by resident tadpoles. This may suggest a pathway of MP entry into aquatic and terrestrial food webs.

In this study, Ag deposited three-dimensional MnO2 porous hollow microspheres (Ag/MnO2 PHMSs) with high dispersion of the atom level Ag species are first prepared by a novel method of redox precipitation. Due to the highly efficient utilization of downsized Ag nanoparticles, the optimal 0.3% Ag/MnO2 PHMSs can completely degrade 70 ppm CH3SH within 600 s, much higher than that of MnO2 PHMSs (79%). Additionally, the catalyst retains long-term stability and can be regenerated to its initial activity through regeneration with ethanol and HCl. The results of characterization of Ag/MnO2 PHMSs and catalytic performance tests clearly demonstrate that the proper amount of Ag incorporation not only facilitates the chemi-adsorption but also induces more formation of vacancy oxygen (Ov) and lattice oxygen (OL) in MnO2 as well as Ag species as activation sites to collectively favor the catalytic ozonation of CH3SH. Ag/MnO2 PHMSs can efficiently transform CH3SH into CH3SAg/CH3S-SCH3 and then oxidize them into SO42- and CO2 as evidenced by in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy. Meanwhile, electron paramagnetic resonance and scavenger tests indicate that •OH and 1O2 are the primary reactive species rather than surface atomic oxygen species contributing to CH3SH removal over Ag/MnO2 PHMSs. This work presents an efficient catalyst of single atom Ag incorporated MnO2 PHMSs to control air pollution.

BACKGROUND Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is an essential progress for tumor cell invasion to both epithelial and non-epithelial cancers, and zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1/2 (ZEB1/2) is a well-known promoter of EMT. In glioma cell lines, both ZEB1 and ZEB2 have been demonstrated to facilitate cancer cell proliferation and invasion with experiments in vitro. However, the clinical significance of ZEB1 and ZEB2 in glioblastoma (GBM) is still controversial. MATERIAL AND METHODS We detected the expression of ZEB1 and ZEB2 in 91 cases of GBM with immunohistochemistry and investigated the correlation between clinicopathological factors and ZEB family expression with Fisher test. By univariate analysis with Kaplan-Meier test, we explored the prognostic significance of ZEB1/2 expression and the clinicopathological factors in GBM. By multivariate analysis with the Cox regression model, we identified the independent prognostic factors in GBM. RESULTS The percentages of ZEB1 high expression and ZEB2 high expression were 31.9% (29/91) and 41.9% (36/91), respectively. High expression of ZEB2 was significantly associated with lower survival rate of GBM patients (P=0.001). ZEB2, lower KPS score (P=0.004), gross total resection (P<0.001) and higher Ki67 percentage (P=0.001) were notably correlated to worse prognosis of GBM. With multivariate analysis, high expression of ZEB2 was demonstrated to be an independent prognostic factor indicating unfavorable prognosis of GBM (P=0.001, HR=3.86, and 95%CI=1.61-9.23). CONCLUSIONS High expression of ZEB2 is an independent prognostic factor predicting unfavorable prognosis of GBM, indicating that ZEB2 or its downstream proteins may be potential drug targets of GBM therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the association of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor(GPER) gene polymorphism with social function of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). METHODS: The social function of 135 children with ADHD were assessed by Weiss Functional Impairment Scale-Parent form (WFIRS-P). The coding region of GPER gene of all patients was subjected to Sanger sequencing. The association of polymorphisms with the social function of the ADHD children was analyzed. RESULTS: In the case group, the social function scores of Learning and School and Risky Activities of boys were significantly higher than those of girls (t=2.704, P=0.008; t=2.289, P=0.027). No significant difference was found in the genotypic frequencies of the c.-9T/C and c.789G/A loci between different genders. But the learning and school scores of those with a TC genotype for the c.-9T to C locus were significantly higher than those with a TT genotype (t= 2.159, P=0.033). CONCLUSION: For children with ADHD, the social function of Learning and School of those with a TC genotype of the GPER gene c.-9T/C locus is more severely damaged compared with those with a TT genotype.

Dentin dysplasia type I (DDI) is an autosomal-dominant genetic disorder resulting from dentin defects. The molecular basis of DDI remains unclear. DDI exhibits unique characteristics with phenotypes featuring obliteration of pulp chambers and diminutive root, thus providing a useful model for understanding the genetics of tooth formation. Using a large Chinese family with 14 DDI patients, we mapped the gene locus responsible for DDI to 3p26.1-3p24.3 and further identified a missense mutation, c.353C>A (p.P118Q) in the SSUH2 gene on 3p26.1, which co-segregated with DDI. We showed that SSUH2 (p.P118Q) perturbed the structure and significantly reduced levels of mutant (MT) protein and mRNA compared with wild-type SSUH2. Furthermore, MT P141Q knock-in mice (+/- and -/-) had a unique partial obliteration of the pulp cavity and upregulation or downregulation of six major genes involved in odontogenesis: Dspp, Dmp1, Runx2, Pax9, Bmp2, and Dlx2. The phenotype of missing teeth was determined in zebrafish with morpholino gene knockdowns and rescued by injection of normal human mRNA. Taken together, our observations demonstrate that SSUH2 disrupts dental formation and that this novel gene, together with other odontogenesis genes, is involved in tooth development.

We propose and demonstrate a simple and low-cost method to lock the wavelength of a diode laser to a point with a particular normalized slope on the spectrum of a fiber-optic sensor. The wavelength locking point is independent of the laser intensity variations. The locking involves simultaneously and independently modulating both the laser wavelength and the laser intensity. On the spectral slope, the wavelength modulation is also converted to intensity modulation that is superimposed to the direct intensity modulation. The error signal is the amplitude of the overall intensity modulation. We demonstrate a potential application of the locking method in a fiber-optic ultrasonic detection system using a distributed feedback diode laser and a phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating sensor.
