RESUMEN

In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) laser micromachining system with an integrated sub-100 nm resolution in-situ measurement system was proposed. The system used the same femtosecond laser source for in-situ measurement and machining, avoiding errors between the measurement and the machining positions. It could measure the profile of surfaces with an inclination angle of less than 10°, and the measurement resolution was greater than 100 nm. Consequently, the precise and stable movement of the laser focus could be controlled, enabling highly stable 3D micromachining. The results showed that needed patterns could be machined on continuous surfaces using the proposed system. The proposed machining system is of great significance for broadening the application scenarios of laser machining.

BACKGROUND: To comprehensively compare the effects of open Duhamel (OD), laparoscopic-assisted Duhamel (LD), transanal endorectal pull-through (TEPT), and laparoscopic-assisted endorectal pull-through (LEPT) in Hirschsprung disease. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, WanFang, and VIP were comprehensively searched up to August 4, 2022. The outcomes were operation-related indicators and complication-related indicators. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach was used to evaluate the quality of evidence. Network plots, forest plots, league tables and rank probabilities were drawn for all outcomes. For measurement data, weighted mean differences (WMDs) and 95% credibility intervals (CrIs) were reported; for enumeration data, relative risks (RRs) and 95%CrIs were calculated. RESULTS: Sixty-two studies of 4781 patients were included, with 2039 TEPT patients, 1669 LEPT patients, 951 OD patients and 122 LD patients. Intraoperative blood loss in the OD group was more than that in the LEPT group (pooled WMD = 44.00, 95%CrI: 27.33, 60.94). Patients lost more blood during TEPT versus LEPT (pooled WMD = 13.08, 95%CrI: 1.80, 24.30). In terms of intraoperative blood loss, LEPT was most likely to be the optimal procedure (79.76%). Patients undergoing OD had significantly longer gastrointestinal function recovery time, as compared with those undergoing LEPT (pooled WMD = 30.39, 95%CrI: 16.08, 44.94). The TEPT group had significantly longer gastrointestinal function recovery time than the LEPT group (pooled WMD = 11.49, 95%CrI: 0.96, 22.05). LEPT was most likely to be the best operation regarding gastrointestinal function recovery time (98.28%). Longer hospital stay was observed in patients with OD versus LEPT (pooled WMD = 5.24, 95%CrI: 2.98, 7.47). Hospital stay in the TEPT group was significantly longer than that in the LEPT group (pooled WMD = 1.99, 95%CrI: 0.37, 3.58). LEPT had the highest possibility to be the most effective operation with respect to hospital stay. The significantly reduced incidence of complications was found in the LEPT group versus the LD group (pooled RR = 0.24, 95%CrI: 0.12, 0.48). Compared with LEPT, OD was associated with a significantly increased incidence of complications (pooled RR = 5.10, 95%CrI: 3.48, 7.45). Patients undergoing TEPT had a significantly greater incidence of complications than those undergoing LEPT (pooled RR = 1.98, 95%CrI: 1.63, 2.42). For complications, LEPT is most likely to have the best effect (99.99%). Compared with the LEPT group, the OD group had a significantly increased incidence of anastomotic leakage (pooled RR = 5.35, 95%CrI: 1.45, 27.68). LEPT had the highest likelihood to be the best operation regarding anastomotic leakage (63.57%). The incidence of infection in the OD group was significantly higher than that in the LEPT group (pooled RR = 4.52, 95%CrI: 2.45, 8.84). The TEPT group had a significantly increased incidence of infection than the LEPT group (pooled RR = 1.87, 95%CrI: 1.13, 3.18). LEPT is most likely to be the best operation concerning infection (66.32%). Compared with LEPT, OD was associated with a significantly higher incidence of soiling (pooled RR = 1.91, 95%CrI: 1.16, 3.17). Patients with LEPT had the greatest likelihood not to develop soiling (86.16%). In contrast to LD, LEPT was significantly more effective in reducing the incidence of constipation (pooled RR = 0.39, 95%CrI: 0.15, 0.97). LEPT was most likely not to result in constipation (97.81%). LEPT was associated with a significantly lower incidence of Hirschprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC) than LD (pooled RR = 0.34, 95%CrI: 0.13, 0.85). The OD group had a significantly higher incidence of HAEC than the LEPT group (pooled RR = 2.29, 95%CrI: 1.31, 4.0). The incidence of HAEC was significantly greater in the TEPT group versus the LEPT group (pooled RR = 1.74, 95%CrI: 1.24, 2.45). LEPT was most likely to be the optimal operation in terms of HAEC (98.76%). CONCLUSION: LEPT may be a superior operation to OD, LD and TEPT in improving operation condition and complications, which might serve as a reference for Hirschsprung disease treatment.

RESUMEN

The design and actuation of soft robots are targeted at extreme motion control as well as high functionalization. In spite of robot construction optimized by bio-concepts, its motion system is still hindered by multiple actuator assembly and reprogrammable control for complex motions. Herein, our recent work is summarized and an all-light solution is proposed and demonstrated using graphene-oxide-based soft robots. It will be shown that, with a highly localized light field, lasers can define actuators precisely to form "joints" and facilitate efficient energy storage and release to realize genuine complex motions.

The development of radioresistance by nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells almost always results in tumor recurrence and metastasis, making clinical treatment of the disease difficult. In this study, the mechanism of radioresistance in NPC cells was investigated. First, a gene array and quantitative reverse-transcription-PCR assays were used to screen for genes exhibiting significantly altered expression in the DNA damage signaling pathway. Based on those results, GADD45G was further studied in the context of radioresistance. A GADD45G-knockout NPC cell line (CNE-2R-KO) was constructed using CRISPR-Cas9 technology and used for a comparison of differences in radioresistance with other radiosensitive and radioresistant NPC cells, as evaluated using colony formation assays. Cell cycle changes were observed using flow cytometry. Cell proliferation and migration were measured using 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide and wound healing assays, respectively. The sequencing results revealed the successful construction of the CNE-2R-KO cell line, the radiosensitivity of which was higher than that of its parent radioresistant cell line owing to the GADD45G knockout. This was likely related to the increase in the number of cells in the G1 phase and decrease in those in the S1 phase as well as the increased cell proliferation rate and decreased migratory ability. GADD45G is associated with radioresistance in NPC cells and likely has a role in the occurrence and metastasis of NPC.

PURPOSE: GATA binding protein 4 (GATA4) has been implicated in the etiology of congenital malformation of the urogenital system. The present study investigated the influence of GATA4 polymorphisms on susceptibility to hypospadias. METHODS: We genotyped 4 potentially functional polymorphisms (rs12458, rs12825, rs884662, and rs904018) in GATA4 in the hospital-based case-control study including 410 child patients and 520 nonmalformed individuals by the TaqMan MGB method. Risk associations were assessed using unconditional logistic regression, adjusted for potential confounding factors. RESULTS: A significant association was found between rs12458 (3'-UTR of GATA4) and susceptibility to hypospadias (p = 0.008). Compared with rs12458 AA genotype individuals, those harboring the variant allele (rs12458 AT/TT) were correlated with significantly higher risk of hypospadias (AT/TT vs. AA: OR = 1.42, 95% CI = 1.17-2.35, p = 0.036). Furthermore, the rs12458T allele showed significantly decreased activity in a luciferase reporter assay, indicating a possible role of rs12458 variant in regulating the combination of microRNAs with the GATA4 mRNA. CONCLUSIONS: The present results indicate that the functional GATA4 rs12458 variant confers individuals' susceptibility to hypospadias, possibly through regulating the GATA4 expression level.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the regulation of gene expression in different physiological and pathological processes. These macromolecules can act as microRNA (miRNA) sponges and play an important role as gene regulators throughout the circRNA-miRNA pathway. In this study, we established a radioresistance model with the nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line CNE-2, and then analyzed the differences in the circRNAs between radioresistant and normal nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines using a high-throughput microarray. Tested circRNAs included 1042 upregulated and 1558 downregulated circRNAs. Relevant signaling pathways associated with the circRNAs and their target miRNAs were analyzed using bioinformatics analysis to determine the radioresistance of the differentially expressed circRNAs. Curcumin was used to treat irradiated cell lines, and changes in the circRNA before and after curcumin treatment were analyzed to investigate the radiosensitization effects of curcumin. The results showed that curcumin could regulate the circRNA-miRNA-messenger RNA network and inhibit the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3), and growth factor receptor-bound protein 2 (GRB2) to achieve radiosensitization. Thus, circRNA acted as a miRNA sponge and regulated the expression of miRNA, thereby affecting EGFR, STAT3, and GRB2 expression and radiosensitization.

Although approximately 50% of cases have a known genetic defect, the precise pathogenesis of Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) is still unclear. We recently reported that expression of fibronectin (FN), which is involved in the migration, colonization, and differentiation of enteric neural crest cells (ENCCs), is increased in aganglionic colonic segments obtained from patients. We hypothesized that abnormally high levels of FN might play a role in the etiology of HSCR. Here, to test this hypothesis, we investigated aganglionic, transitional, and ganglionic colon segments from 63 children with HSCR and distal colon from thirty healthy Wistar rats at embryonic day 20, in addition to in vitro studies with PC12 Adh neural crest cells. We measured the protein and mRNA expression levels of FN, together with a panel of excitatory (VGLUT1, GluA1, GluN1, PSD-95, and NL-1) and inhibitory (GAD67, GABA AR-α1, NL-2, and SLC32) synaptic markers. Expression of all these synaptic markers was significantly decreased in aganglionic colon, compared to ganglionic colon, whereas expression of FN was significantly increased. In a neural crest cell line, PC12 Adh, knockdown of FN with small-interfering RNA increased the expression of synaptic markers. Co-culture of colons from embryonic day 20 rats with RGD recombinant protein, which contains the RGD motif of FN, reduced the expression of excitatory and inhibitory synaptic markers. These results are consistent with the idea that the etiology of HSCR involves aberrant overexpression of FN, which may impair synaptic function and enteric nervous system development, leading to motor dysfunction of intestinal muscles.

BACKGROUND: Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) is the most common congenital gut motility disorder, involving a severe anomaly of the enteric nervous system, and is characterized by functional intestinal obstruction due to lack of intrinsic innervation (aganglionosis) in the distal bowel. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to examine the distribution patterns of collagens I (Col I), III (Col III), and IV (Col IV) in the enteric nervous system of HSCR patients, to determine whether or not collagen levels are altered in the aganglionic bowel. METHODS: We measured the expression levels of Col I, Col III, and Col IV in colonic muscle from 129 children with HSCR. The localizations of the 3 collagens and myenteric ganglia were assessed morphologically by immunofluorescence staining. western blots and real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction were performed to examine the relative levels of these collagens in aganglionic, transitional, and ganglionic colon segments. RESULTS: Immunoreactivities of Col I and Col III were high around and within myenteric ganglia in the ganglionic segment, moderate in the transitional segment, and weak in the aganglionic segment. Col IV immunoreactivity showed the opposite pattern, being lowest in the ganglionic segment and highest in the aganglionic segment. CONCLUSION: Col I and Col III are decreased and Col IV is increased in the distal colon of patients with HSCR.

Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Shengmai San has the effects of enhancing immunity and improving blood circulation, and Curcumae Longae Rhizoma(Jianghuang) has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-oxidation and other functions. Shengmai San combined with Jianghuang is a new research direction in the study of anti-tumor of traditional Chinese medicines. The main treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma is radiation therapy, but radiation therapy can cause a variety of side effects, and it also changes the composition of the intestinal flora. In this study, the 16 s rDNA sequencing platform was used to perform macro-sequence sequencing of the intestinal flora samples of nude mice bearing the veins of Shengmai Jianghuang San, and then the results of intestinal flora data were analyzed to investigate the effect of Shengmai Jianghuang San on tumors. The results showed that Shengmai Jianghuang San combined with irradiation could enhance the therapeutic effect of tumor treatment. Radiation therapy would reduce the total number and diversity of intestinal flora in nude mice, and also change the structure of the flora. Shengmai Jianghuang San could protect the diversity of colonies, and also partially restore the colony imbalance caused by irradiation. This study provides a research idea for Shengmai Jianghuang San as a sensitizing adjuvant for radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

We demonstrate the generation of filament array with orthogonal polarizations in air by using specifically designed wedge-type birefringent quartz plates. Experimental results show that the number of the generated filaments can be expressed as N = 2n wherenis the number of quartz plates inserted in the laser propagation path. By manipulating the optic axis of the quartz plates with respect to the polarization direction of the input laser pulse, the generated filaments can be separated into two parts with the polarization directions perpendicular with each other. The separation distance between the adjacent filaments is found to be linearly dependent on the focal length of external focusing lens. Our results provide a simple and efficient way to generate regular and reproductive femtosecond filament array in air.

A versatile template biomaterial was facilely obtained by ultraviolet (UV) photocrosslinking approach using protein molecules as building blocks. As-formed photocrosslinked protein hydrogel matrix (PPHM) was proved to be composed of covalently bound and dense packing protein molecules. Therefore, the PPHM was endowed with highly smooth topograghy with an average roughness of approximately 5 nm, and was self-supporting and flexible. The PPHM could be easily functionalized by doping Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles inside the protein hydrogel. Further, PPHM was experimentally demonstrated to be used as a applicable template for biomineralization.

Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) has profound impacts on cancer progression and also on drug resistance, including epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs). Nowadays, there is still no predictive biomarker identified for the use of EGFR-TKIs in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with wild-type EGFR. To clarify the role of EMT phenotype as a predictive marker for EGFR-TKI, we performed a retrospective study in 202 stage IV or recurrent NSCLC patients receiving gefitinib or erlotinib therapy from June 2008 to September 2012 in our institute. Clinical data and EGFR mutational status were collected, while epithelial, epithelial to mesenchymal, not specified or mesenchymal phenotype were classified according to EMT markers such as E-cadherin, fibronectin, N-cadherin and vimentin by immunohistochemistry. Epithelial phenotype was more frequently found in patients with EGFR mutation (p = 0.044). Epithelial phenotype was associated with a significantly higher objective response rate (23.5 vs. 11.1 vs. 0.0 vs. 2.4%, p = 0.011), longer progression-free survival (4.4 vs. 1.9 vs. 1.7 vs. 1.0 months, p < 0.001) and longer overall survival (11.5 vs. 8.9 vs. 4.5 vs. 4.9 months, p < 0.001) compared to epithelial to mesenchymal, not specified and mesenchymal phenotype in the wild-type EGFR subgroup. In the subgroup with EGFR mutation, the trend remained but without a statistically significant difference. In conclusion, epithelial phenotype was more likely expressed in patients with EGFR mutation and was associated with a better outcome in advanced NSCLC patients with wild-type EGFR, which indicates that the EMT phenotype might be a potential marker to guide EGFR-TKI therapy in this population.

Silver (Ag) seeds for assisting femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW) were employed in the fabrication of microelectrodes (MEs). Pattern-controllable and size-tunable MEs can be easily constructed by introducing Ag seeds to the ion precursor solution in the process of laser-induced photoreduction of the Ag ions. The fabrication process is stable under sufficient material supply, and the applied laser power is reduced to one-tenth of that without Ag seeds. Finally, as a representative application, an organic field effect transistor (OFET) was fabricated, based on this laser-fabricated Ag ME. The OFET exhibited good photoelectric properties, and achieved an on-off ratio of 200.

The goal of this study was to investigate the expression level of neuroligin-2 in different colon tissue segments of children with Hirschsprung's disease (HSCR) and the correlative clinical significance of serum Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (serum GABA) in HSCR. Neuroligin-2 was assessed by Immunohistochemistry staining method on routine paraffin section from different colon tissue segments of HSCR (ganglionic colonic segment, transitional colonic segment and aganglionic colonic segment). Western-blot analysis and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR) were applied to compare and evaluate the expression levels of neuroligin-2 from three segments of HSCR, and we used Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method to detect and compare the serum GABA between HSCR and non-HSCR. Immunohistochemistry staining demonstrated that intensive neuroligin-2 staining was detected in the ganglion cells in the ganglionic colonic and transitional colonic segments from the HSCR children; however, neuroligin-2 staining was down-regulated significantly in the aganglionic colonic segments. The expression levels of neuroligin-2 mRNA and protein in the aganglionic colonic segment were decreased compared to the ganglionic colonic segment and transitional colonic segment (P < 0.05). And the level of serum GABA was significantly higher in HSCR than that in non-HSCR. The expression of neuroligin-2 varies from different segments of HSCR. The down-regulation of neuroligin-2 in aganglionic colonic segments may be correlated with the excessive intestine contraction and further result in HSCR. The over-expression of serum GABA may be considered as a new diagnostic method of HSCR.

OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively compare the differences in the surgical efficacy and prognosis of laparoscopic pyeloplasty for hydronephrosis caused by symptomatic versus asymptomatic ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) in children and determine whether clinical symptoms affect the surgical outcome and prognosis. METHODS: Children who underwent laparoscopic pyeloplasty in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The children were divided into symptomatic and asymptomatic groups according to their main symptoms. The primary outcomes were the surgical success rate, change in renal parenchymal thickness, and change in renal pelvis anteroposterior diameter. The secondary outcomes were postoperative complications, reoperation rate, operative duration, intraoperative blood loss, and drainage tube indwelling time. RESULTS: In total, 224 children with UPJO were enrolled; 148 (66.1%) were symptomatic and 76 (33.9%) were asymptomatic. The symptomatic group showed a significantly greater mean change in renal parenchymal thickness, significantly higher surgical success rate, and significantly lower postoperative complication rate. CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, asymptomatic children had a lower surgical success rate, less postoperative imaging improvement, and more postoperative complications than symptomatic children. The presence or absence of clinical symptoms may affect the surgical outcome and prognosis.

As the global cancer burden escalates, the search for alternative therapies becomes increasingly vital. Natural products, particularly plant-derived compounds, have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional cancer treatments due to their diverse bioactivities and favorable biosafety profiles. Here, we investigate Paucatalinone A, a newly discovered geranylated flavanone derived from the fruit of Paulownia Catalpifolia Gong Tong, notable for its significant anti-cancer properties. We revealed the capability of Paucatalinone A to induce apoptosis in osteosarcoma cells and deciphered its underlying mechanisms. Our findings demonstrate that Paucatalinone A substantially augments apoptosis, inhibits cell proliferation, and demonstrates a pronounced anti-tumor effect in a murine model of osteosarcoma. Mechanistically, Paucatalinone A disrupts calcium homeostasis and exacerbates intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation, leading to mitochondrial impairment, cytoskeletal collapse, and caspase-dependent apoptotic cell death. This study underscores the potential of Paucatalinone A in initiating apoptosis in cancer cells and highlights the therapeutic efficacy of plant-derived agents in treating osteosarcoma, offering a viable approach for managing other intractable cancers.

Background: Intestinal malrotation is a rare condition, and its delayed diagnosis can lead to fatal consequences. This study aimed to investigate the identification and treatment of malrotation in children. Methods: Clinical data, imaging, operative findings, and early postoperative outcomes of 75 children with malrotation were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The mean age was 6.18 ± 4.93 days and 51.26 ± 70.13 months in the neonatal group (56 patients) and non-neonatal group (19 patients), respectively. Sixty-seven patients were under the age of 1 year at the time of diagnosis. The occurrence of bilious vomiting and jaundice was significantly higher in the neonatal group (89.29%) than that in the non-neonatal group (37.5%), p < 0.05 and p < 0.01, respectively. The incidence of abnormal ultrasound (US) findings was 97.30% and 100%, respectively, and the sensitivities of the upper gastrointestinal series were 84.21% and 87.5%, respectively. Sixty-six (88%) patients had midgut volvulus, including in utero volvulus (two patients) and irreversible intestinal ischemia (four patients). Most neonates (89.29%) underwent open Ladd's procedure with a shorter operative time (p < 0.01). Reoperation was performed for postoperative complications (four patients) or missed comorbidities (two patients). Conclusions: Non-bilious vomiting was the initial symptom in >10% of neonates and nearly 40% of non-neonates. This highlights the importance for emergency physicians and surgeons to be cautious about ruling out malrotation in patients with non-bilious vomiting. Utilizing US can obviate the need for contrast examinations owing to its higher diagnostic accuracy and rapid diagnosis and can be recommended as a first-line imaging technique. Additionally, open surgery is still an option for neonatal patients.

To investigate the expression levels of neurexins and neuroligins in the enteric nervous system (ENS) in Hirschsprung Disease (HSCR). Longitudinal muscles with adherent mesenteric plexus were obtained by dissection of the fresh gut wall of mice, guinea pigs, and humans. Double labeling of neurexin I and Hu (a neuron marker), neuroligin 1 and Hu, neurexin I and synaptophysin (a presynaptic marker), and neuroligin 1 and PSD95 (a postsynaptic marker) was performed by immunofluorescence staining. Images were merged to determine the relative localizations of the proteins. Expression levels of neurexin and neuroligin in different segments of the ENS in HSCR were investigated by immunohistochemistry. Neurexin and neuroligin were detected in the mesenteric plexus of mice, guinea pigs, and humans with HSCR. Neurexin was located in the presynapse, whereas neuroligin was located in the postsynapse. Expression levels of neurexin and neuroligin were significant in the ganglionic colonic segment of HSCR, moderate in the transitional segment, and negative in the aganglionic colonic segment. The expressions of neurexin and neuroligin in the transitional segments were significantly down-regulated compared with the levels in the normal segments (P < 0.05). Expression levels of neurexin and neuroligin in ENS are significantly down-regulated in HSCR, which may be involved in the pathogenesis of HSCR.

BACKGROUND: Both clinical and preclinical studies revealed that regular intake of green tea reduced the prevalence of depressive symptoms, as well as produced antidepressant-like effects in rodents. Evidence proposed that disturbed reward learning has been associated with the development of anhedonia, a core symptom of depression. However, the relationship between green tea and reward learning is poorly investigated. Our goal was to test whether chronic treatment with green tea in healthy subjects affects the process of reward learning and subsequently regulates the depressive symptoms. METHODS: Seventy-four healthy subjects participated in a double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled study with oral administration of green tea or placebo for 5weeks. We used the monetary incentive delay task to evaluate the reward learning by measurement of the response to reward trial or no-reward trial. We compared the reaction time of reward responsiveness between green tea and placebo treatment. Furthermore, we selected Montgomery-Asberg depression rating scale (MADRS) and 17-item Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD-17) to estimate the depressive symptoms in these two groups. RESULTS: The results showed chronic treatment of green tea increased reward learning compared with placebo by decreasing the reaction time in monetary incentive delay task. Moreover, participants treated with green tea showed reduced scores measured in MADRS and HRSD-17 compared with participants treated with placebo. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings reveal that chronic green tea increased the reward learning and prevented the depressive symptoms. These results also raised the possibility that supplementary administration of green tea might reverse the development of depression through normalization of the reward function.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the diagnostic values of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) in patients with hilar and mediastinal tumors. METHODS: A total of 837 patients with chest CT or PET/CT confirmed mediastinal/hilar lymphadenopathy and or tumors in (or around) the trachea or bronchi, were evaluated by EBUS-TBNA examination. Pathological study or follow-up visit was carried out in the same period to make a final diagnosis, and therefore to verify the accuracy of EBUS-TBNA. RESULT: The study punctured 1631 lymph nodes totally, with an average of 1.95 times per case. The 4R group and the 7th group of lymph nodes accounted for 43% and 34%, respectively. The success rate of TBNA was 100%. The diagnosis rates of lung cancer was 94.11%, of which squamous cell carcinoma accounted for 19.22% (89 cases), adenocarcinoma 32.40% (150 cases), small cell carcinoma 23.54% (109 cases), non-small cell carcinoma of unknown histological type 9.50% (44 cases), adenosquamous carcinoma 7.56% (35 cases), and other types 7.78% (36 cases). The diagnosis rate of tuberculosis was 85.50%, and that of sarcoidosis was 55.88%. The overall sensitivity of EBUS-TBNA was 94.02%, specificity 100%, positive predictive value 100%, negative predictive value 61.91%, and the accuracy was 94.56%. Besides mild bleeding in the puncture site, no other complications occurred, and there were no severe complications such as pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, or major vascular injury. CONCLUSION: EBUS-TBNA is of high value as a minimally invasive, convenient, and low-risk procedure for the diagnosis of mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy and tumors.
