RESUMEN

Wide bandgap (WBG) perovskites through tuning iodine/bromine ratios are capable of merging with narrow bandgap organic bulk heterojunctions to construct tandem solar cells to overcome the Shockley-Queisser limitation. However, WBG perovskites readily suffer from light-induced halide ion migration, leading to detrimental phase segregation and hence severe open-circuit voltage (VOC ) loss. Here, to solve this issue, lead thiocyanate (Pb(SCN)2 ) and 2-thiopheneethylammonium chloride (TEACl) are synergistically employed to passivate and stabilize WBG perovskites with 1.79 eV bandgap. It is demonstrated that the synergetic employment of Pb(SCN)2 and TEACl suppresses light-induced phase segregation, passivates WBG perovskite defects, and reduces non-radiative recombination, hence alleviating VOC loss. As a result, optimized WBG perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are obtained with an impressive VOC of 1.26 V and power conversion efficiency (PCE) over 17.0%. Furthermore, the interconnection layer is optimized to minimize the VOC loss and construct two-terminal perovskite/organic tandem solar cells with a narrow bandgap organic blend bulk heterojunction of PM6:Y6 and achieve a champion PCE of 22.29% with a high VOC of 2.072 V. In addition, these tandem solar cells maintain 81% of their initial efficiency after 1000 h continuous tracking at the maximum power point (MPP) under 100 mW cm-2 white light illumination.

The association between floods and the risk of dysentery remain controversial. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to clarify this relationship. A literature search was performed in PubMed, Web of science, and Embase for relevant articles published up to November 2019. Random-effects model was used to pool relative risks with 95% confidence intervals. The sensitivity analysis was carried out to evaluate the stability of the results. Publication bias was estimated using Egger's test. Eleven studies from 10 articles evaluated the association between floods and the risk of dysentery in China. The pooled RR (95% CI) of dysentery for the flooded time versus non-flooded period was 1.48 (95% CI: 1.14-1.91). Significant association was found in subgroup analysis stratified by dysentery styles [dysentery: 1.61 (95% CI: 1.34-1.93) and bacillary dysentery: 1.46 (95% CI: 1.06-2.01)]. The pooled RR (95%CI) of sensitivity analysis for dysentery was 1.26 (95% CI: 1.05-1.52). No significant publication bias was found in our meta-analysis. This meta-analysis confirms that floods have significantly increased the risk of dysentery in China. Our findings will provide more evidence to reduce negative health outcomes of floods in China.

Antireflection (AR) film is a widely used technology to enhance the performance of photovoltaic devices that require transparent electrodes in the photovoltaic industry. At present, several AR films including monolayer MgF2 or multilayered composite films, textured polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and porous SiO2 have been successfully applied due to their excellent properties. Nevertheless, all of the above-mentioned AR films have some minor drawbacks to overcome, for instance, the cost or thermal durability. Herein, we report a cost-effective and low-temperature method to fabricate a mesoporous aluminum oxide (meso-Al2O3) layer as the AR coating with high thermal durability, which will meet the fabrication condition of various photovoltaic devices. Briefly, the process begins at magnetron sputtering a compact Al2O3 film, which shows no AR effect, followed by a hot water treatment at 80 °C to turn the compact film into a mesoporous film with graded-index and AR effect. The application of meso-Al2O3 AR film enhances the maximum transmittance of our laboratory-used fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) from 84% to 89%, which is in good agreement with our theoretical simulation named graded-index approximation. Taking perovskite solar cells (PSCs) as an example, planar PSCs with meso-Al2O3 AR film deliver excellent photon conversion efficiency of 21.5%, which is higher than that of cells without meso-Al2O3 AR film (20.9%).

We evaluated the genetic and environmental contributions to metabolic cardiovascular risk factors and their mutual associations. Eight metabolic factors (body mass index, waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, total serum cholesterol, serum triglycerides, and serum uric acid) were measured in 508 twin pairs aged 8-17 years from the Qingdao Twin Registry, China. Linear structural equation models were used to estimate the heritability of these traits, as well as the genetic and environmental correlations between them. Among boys, body mass index and uric acid showed consistently high heritability (0.49-0.81), whereas other traits showed moderate to high common environmental variance (0.37-0.73) in children (8-12 years) and adolescents (13-17 years) except total cholesterol. For girls, moderate to high heritability (0.39-0.75) were obtained for six metabolic traits in children, while only two traits showed high heritability and others mostly medium to large common environmental variance in adolescents. Genetic correlations between the traits were strong in both boys and girls in children (r g = 0.64-0.99 between body mass index and diastolic blood pressure; r g = 0.71-1.00 between body mass index and waist circumference), but decreased for adolescent girls (r g = 0.51 between body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio; r g = 0.55 between body mass index and uric acid; r g = 0.61 between body mass index and systolic blood pressure). The effect of genetic factors on most metabolic traits decreased from childhood to adolescence. Both common genetic and specific environmental factors influence the mutual associations among most of the metabolic traits.

Wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskite solar cells have attracted considerable interest for their potential applications in tandem solar cells. However, the predominant obstacles impeding their widespread adoption are substantial open-circuit voltage (VOC ) deficit and severe photo-induced halide segregation. To tackle these challenges, a crystal orientation regulation strategy by introducing dodecyl-benzene-sulfonic-acid as an additive in perovskite precursors is proposed. This method significantly promotes the desired crystal orientation, passivates defects, and mitigates photo-induced halide phase segregation in perovskite films, leading to substantially reduced nonradiative recombination, minimized VOC deficits, and enhanced operational stability of the devices. The resulting 1.66 eV bandgap methylamine-free perovskite solar cells achieve a remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 22.40% (certified at 21.97%), with the smallest VOC deficit recorded at 0.39 V. Furthermore, the fabricated semitransparent WBG devices exhibit a competitive PCE of 20.13%. Consequently, four-terminal tandem cells comprising WBG perovskite top cells and 1.25 eV bandgap perovskite bottom cells showcase an impressive PCE of 28.06% (stabilized 27.92%), demonstrating great potential for efficient multijunction tandem solar cell applications.

Wide bandgap (WBG) perovskite can construct tandem cells with narrow bandgap solar cells by adjusting the band gap to overcome the Shockley-Queisser limitation of single junction perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, WBG perovskites still suffer from severe nonradiative carrier recombination and large open-circuit voltage loss. Here, this work uses an in situ photoluminescence (PL) measurement to monitor the intermediate phase evolution and crystallization process via blade coating. This work reports a strategy to fabricate efficient and stable WBG perovskite solar cells through doping a long carbon chain molecule octane-1,8-diamine dihydroiodide (ODADI). It is found that ODADI doping not only suppresses intermediate phases but also promote the crystallization of perovskite and passivate defects in blade coated 1.67 eV WBG FA0.7Cs0.25MA0.05Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 perovskite films. As a result, the champion single junction inverted PSCs deliver the efficiencies of 22.06% and 19.63% for the active area of 0.07 and 1.02 cm2, respectively, which are the highest power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) in WBG PSCs by blade coating. The unencapsulated device demonstrates excellent stability in air, which maintains its initial efficiency at the maximum power points under constant AM 1.5G illumination in open air for nearly 500 h. The resulting semitransparent WBG device delivers a high PCE of 20.06%, and the 4-terminal all-perovskite tandem device delivers a PCE of 28.35%.

BACKGROUND: In China, hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) outbreaks have become an important issue recent years. We analyzed the epidemiological characteristics of HFMD outbreaks in Qingdao during 2009-2018, and provided evidences for prevention and control of the disease. METHODS: Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and correlation analysis, and throat swabs were detected for enterovirus RNA using RT-PCR. RESULTS: Overall, 116 HFMD outbreaks were reported in Qingdao during 2009-2018, with the epidemic of the outbreaks exhibiting a decreasing tendency. The characteristics of outbreaks presented two patterns, including two-peak pattern and rural area to urban-rural fringe area to urban areas pattern. Male patients were predominant in these outbreaks. The location of the outbreaks changed from nursery to community. Non-EV71/CA16 enteroviruses were gradually becoming predominant enteroviruses serotypes. The durations of outbreaks were positively correlated with response times and the number of cases. CONCLUSION: The epidemiological characteristics analysis of HFMD outbreaks could provide a scientific basis for the prevention and control the disease. Reporting and handling promptly are the keys to control epidemic outbreaks of HFMD.

Tracing and isolation of close contacts is used to control outbreaks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China. However, risk factors associated with the occurrence of COVID-19 among close contacts have not been well described. A total of 106 household contacts were included in this study, of whom 19 developed into COVID-19 cases, and the secondary attack rate was 17.9%. Multivariable analysis showed that increasing risk of occurrence of COVID-19 among household contacts was associated with female index patients (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] = 3.84, 95% CI = 1.07-13.78), critical disease index patients (aHR = 7.58, 95% CI = 1.66-34.66), effective contact duration with index patients > 2 days (aHR = 4.21, 95% CI = 1.29-13.73), and effective contact duration > 11 days (aHR = 17.88, 95% CI = 3.26-98.01). The sex and disease severity of index patients with COVID-19 and longer effective contact duration with patients with confirmed COVID-19 could help epidemiologists to identify potential COVID-19 cases among household contacts at an early stage.

Metal halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) serve as a kind of ideal semiconductor for luminescence and display applications. However, the optoelectronic performance and stability of perovskite NCs are mainly subjected to current ligand strategies since these ligands exhibit a highly dynamic binding state, which complicates NC purification and storage. Herein, a method named diffusion-induced extraction is developed for crystallization (DEC) at room temperature, in which silicone oil serves as a medium to separate the solvent from perovskite precursors and diethyl ether promotes the nucleation, leading to highly emissive perovskite NCs. The formation mechanism of NCs using this approach is elucidated, and their optoelectronic properties are fully characterized. The resultant NCs ink exhibits a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) over 90% with a narrow full width at half maximum of 17 nm. The DEC method strengthens the interaction between ligand and NCs via the hydrophobic silicone oil. Therefore, the NCs maintain almost 95% of their initial PLQYs after aging more than seven months in air. The findings will be of great significance for the continued advancement of high PLQY perovskite NCs through a better understanding of formation dynamics. The DEC strategy presents a major step forward for advancing the field of perovskite semiconductor nanomaterials.

Factors associated with negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in hospitalized patients have not yet been systematically determined. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of COVID-19 patients in Qingdao, China. Both univariate and multivariate analysis were performed to identify independent factors for time to viral RNA negative conversion. Data on patients with re-detectable viral RNA after showing negative on RT-PCR test (intermittent negative status) were also analyzed. A total of 59 patients confirmed with COVID-19 were included in this study, with a median duration of 1 (interquartile range, IQR: 0-2) day from symptom onset to hospital admission. Median communicable period (from first day of positive nucleic acid test to first day of consecutive negative results) was 14 (IQR: 10-18) days, and 7 (IQR: 6-10) days for 10 patients with intermittent negative results. Age older than 45 years (hazard ratio, HR: 0.378; 95% confidence interval, CI: 0.205-0.698) and chest tightness (HR: 0.290; 95%CI: 0.091-0.919) were factors independently affecting negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 RNA. Headache (odds ratio: 7.553; 95%CI: 1.011-28.253) was significantly associated with intermittent negative status, with a predicted probability of 60%. Older age and chest tightness were independently associated with delayed clearance of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in hospitalized patients. These predictors would provide a new perspective on early identification of patients with prolonged viral shedding and facilitate optimal isolation protocols and treatment strategies.

Wide-band gap (WBG) mixed-halide perovskites have drawn much attention because of their excellent optoelectronic properties and the potential to be deployed in tandem solar cells. Nevertheless, the bromine incorporation inevitably leads to photoinduced phase segregation in WBG mixed-halide perovskites. Herein, potassium is used to effectively suppress photoinduced phase segregation, which is visualized with confocal photoluminescence microscopy imaging. Strikingly, the potassium passivation not only inhibits the formation of the narrow-band gap subphase but also enhances the crystallinity of the WBG mixed-halide perovskite. In addition, the potassium-passivated WBG perovskite exhibits lower defect density, longer charge carrier lifetime, and better photostability. As a result, the optimized KI (2 mol %)-passivated WBG perovskite solar cells (PSCs) deliver a champion power conversion efficiency of 18.3% with negligible hysteresis. They maintain 98% of their initial efficiency after 400 h under 100 mW·cm-2 white light illumination in nitrogen.

The open-circuit voltage deficit is one of the main limiting factors for the further performance improvement in planar structured perovskite solar cells. In this work, we elaborately develop chlorine binding on the surface of tin oxide electron transport layer for a high open-circuit voltage device (1.195 V). The chlorine passivation on SnO2 not only effectively mitigates the interfacial charge recombination between SnO2 and perovskite but also enhances the binding of chlorine with lead at the SnO2/perovskite interface. The chlorine-passivated SnO2 electron transport layer exhibits a better energy alignment with the perovskite layer and an improved electron mobility, which will promote efficient electron transfer at the interface. In addition, the elevated Fermi level of SnO2 electron transport layer increases carrier extraction and suppresses interfacial recombination, which is responsible for the open-circuit voltage enhancement. Planar perovskite solar cells with chlorine-passivated SnO2 exhibit a higher open-circuit voltage of 1.195 V than that of reference ones (1.135 V) for a lower band gap of 1.58 eV perovskite absorbers, which achieve a power conversion efficiency of 20% with negligible hysteresis.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Fruit, vegetable, seafood, and dairy intake may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, but this relationship is unclear. We aimed to examine the associations between fruit, vegetable, seafood, and dairy intake and type 2 diabetes prevalence in a Chinese population. METHODS AND STUDY DESIGN: A total of 4,343 individuals aged 35-74 years participated in a population-based cross-sectional study in Qingdao, China. The frequency and quantity of fruit, vegetable, seafood, and dairy intake were determined using a standard food frequency questionnaire. Diabetes was classified according to the WHO/IDF 2006 criteria. Logistic regression analysis was employed to estimate odds ratio (OR) for type 2 diabetes in relation to fruit, vegetable, seafood, and dairy intake in a multivariable model. RESULTS: The multivariate-adjusted ORs (95% confidence interval) for the presence of type 2 diabetes were 0.68 (0.46-0.98), 0.50 (0.37-0.68), and 0.91 (0.66-1.25), respectively, for the highest versus the lowest groups regarding total fruit and vegetable, fruit or vegetable intake in women. The ORs for type 2 diabetes prevalence regarding the quantity of fruit and vegetable, fruit, and yogurt intake were 0.88 (0.78-0.99), 0.71 (0.61-0.82), and 0.56 (0.32-0.98) in women, but not in men. Seafood consumption was inversely associated with diabetes risk in men, but not in women; the corresponding figures were 0.58 (0.35-0.96) and 0.92 (0.63-1.36), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Fruit, vegetable, and yogurt intake in women and seafood intake in men were inversely associated with type 2 diabetes prevalence in this Chinese population. These findings require confirmation in a prospective study.

Some of HER-2 positive breast cancer patients failed to trastuzumab treatment. Recent reports have indicated the correlation between plasma coagulation parameters and clinical characteristics in breast cancer. The aim of this study was to analyze the role of coagulation parameters in trastuzumab treated patients. Coagulation parameters from trastuzumab treated breast cancer patients were retrospectively studied from 2006 to 2010. The correlation between routine coagulation levels and clinical characteristics were analyzed, including prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), thrombin time (TT), fibrinogen (Fib) and D-dimer (DD). The Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression hazard model were applied to assess their effect on prognosis. Totally 102 hospitalized breast cancer patients who received trastuzumab were collected and followed-up. All patients were HER-2 positive advanced breast cancer, with a median age of 45 years old. Extended PT, APTT, and TT were found in trastuzumab treatment non-effective group, as well as increased Fib and DD. But significant increase was only found in Fib. High Fib status (Fib > 2.88 g/L) was correlated with clinical characteristics, such as pathological grade, and reversely correlated with PTEN expression. More importantly, poor disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) to trastuzumab treatment were found in high Fib breast cancer patients. This retrospective study suggests high Fib status was correlated with poor treatment response to trastuzumab. Our findings indicated that Fib > 2.88 should alert physicians to consider a pretreatment for reducing Fib levels before trastuzumab treatment in HER-2 positive breast cancer patients.
