BACKGROUND: We aimed to investigate the in-hospital and midterm outcomes of patients undergoing ascending aortic replacement (AAR) through a partial or a full sternotomy approach through a propensity matching analysis. METHODS: We retrospectively included all patients (n = 167) who underwent elective AAR in our institution between 2013 and 2020. The study population was divided into two groups according to the surgical access (40 patient in the partial sternotomy or "PS" group and 127 in the full sternotomy or "FS" group). Due to the significant differences between the groups, a propensity matching of 1:3 was applied. In-hospital complications, survival, and reoperation at follow-up were investigated. RESULTS: The PS group showed higher cross-clamp and cardiopulmonary bypass times than the FS group (94.2 vs. 83 minutes and 164.2 vs. 126.8 minutes, respectively). Moreover, the postoperative ventilation time was significantly higher in the PS group, but it did not affect the length of stay in the intensive care unit (ICU). The incidences of bleeding, stroke, and mortality were comparable between the two groups (11 vs. 3%, 3 vs. 6%, and 5 vs. 3%, respectively). After a median follow-up of 2 ± 1.98 years, the Kaplan-Meier analysis showed no significant differences between the two groups (log-rank, p = 0.17) in terms of survival. CONCLUSION: The surgical ascending aorta replacement through a partial sternotomy is associated with longer operative times, but this does not affect the early as well as the long-term follow-up.

BACKGROUND: The benefits of minimally invasive techniques in cardiac surgery remain poorly defined. We evaluated the short- and mid-term outcomes after surgical aortic valve replacement through partial upper versus complete median sternotomy (MS) in a large, German multicenter cohort. METHODS: A total of 2,929 patients underwent isolated surgical aortic valve replacement via partial upper sternotomy (PUS, n = 1,764) or MS (n = 1,165) at nine participating heart centers between 2016 and 2020. After propensity-score matching, 1,990 patients were eligible for analysis. The primary end point was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE), a composite of death, myocardial infarction, and stroke at 30 days and in follow-up, up to 5 years. Secondary end points were acute kidney injury, length of hospital stay, transfusions, deep sternal wound infection, Dressler's syndrome, rehospitalization, and conversion to sternotomy. RESULTS: Unadjusted MACCE rates were significantly lower in the PUS group both at 30 days (p = 0.02) and in 5-year follow-up (p = 0.01). However, after propensity-score matching, differences between the groups were no more statistically significant: MACCE rates were 3.9% (PUS) versus 5.4% (MS, p = 0.14) at 30 days, and 9.9 versus 11.3% in 5-year follow-up (p = 0.36). In the minimally invasive group, length of intensive care unit (ICU) stay was shorter (p = 0.03), Dressler's syndrome occurred less frequently (p = 0.006), and the rate of rehospitalization was reduced significantly (p < 0.001). There were 3.8% conversions to full sternotomy. CONCLUSION: In a large, German multicenter cohort, MACCE rates were comparable in surgical aortic valve replacement through partial upper and complete sternotomies. Shorter ICU stay and lower rates of Dressler's syndrome and rehospitalization were in favor of the partial sternotomy group.

PURPOSE: The spectrum of causative organisms in infective endocarditis (IE) has changed significantly in the last decades. Reliable pathogen detection is crucial for appropriate antimicrobial therapy for IE. The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of microbiological methods for detecting the causative microorganism of IE and to analyze the spectrum of pathogens. METHODS: A total of 224 cases (211 unique patients, some with multiple surgeries) were included into this retrospective study. Patients were diagnosed with IE according to the modified Duke criteria from January 2016 to July 2021 and underwent heart valve surgery in a tertiary hospital. Pathogen detection was performed by blood culture, microbiological culture and 16S rDNA PCR of explanted heart valve material. RESULTS: A causative pathogen of IE was detected in 95.5% (n = 214) of cases. Blood cultures were positive in 83.3%, while a pathogen in the examined heart valve samples was identified in 32.6% by culture and in 88.2% by 16S rDNA PCR. A microorganism was identified by 16S rDNA PCR in 61.1% of blood culture negative cases but only in 19.4% by heart valve culture. The most common pathogens were Staphylococcus aureus (27%), viridans group streptococci (20%), enterococci (19%) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS 8%). Cutibacterium acnes (7%) was detected in prosthetic valve IE cases only. CONCLUSION: Blood culture as a comparatively non-invasive and straightforward technique remains an important and reliable method for initial detection of the causative organism in IE. Diagnostic stewardship programs should broadly emphasize proper collection of blood cultures, particularly sampling prior to any antibiotic treatment. Additionally, molecular testing using 16S rDNA tissue PCR can be used with culture techniques to increase the diagnostic yield, especially in the case of a negative blood culture.

BACKGROUND: We aimed to evaluate the impact of membranous interventricular septum (MIS) length and calcifications of the native aortic valve (AV), via preoperative multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) scan, on postoperative atrioventricular block III (AVB/AVB III) and permanent pacemaker implantation in surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed preoperative contrast-enhanced MDCT scans and procedural outcomes of patients affected by AV stenosis who underwent SAVR at our center (June 2016-December 2019). The study population was divided into two groups (AVB and non-AVB), and variables were compared with a Mann-Whitney's U-test or chi-square test. Data were further analyzed using point biserial correlation and logistic regression. RESULTS: A total of 155 (38% female) patients (mean age of 71.2 ± 6 years) were enrolled in our study: conventional stented bioprosthesis (N = 99) and sutureless prosthesis (N = 56) were implanted. A postoperative AVB III was observed in 11 patients (7.1%). AVB patients had significant greater calcifications in left coronary cusp (LCC) -AV (non-AVB = 181.0 mm3 [82.7-316.9] vs. AVB = 424.8 mm3 [115.9-563.2], p = 0.044), LCC left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) (non-AVB = 2.1 mm3 [0-20.1] vs. AVB = 26.0 mm3 [0.1-138.0], p = 0.048), right coronary cusp (RCC) -LVOT (non-AVB = 0 mm3 [0-3.5] vs. AVB = 2.8 mm3 [0-29.0], p = 0.039), and consequently in total LVOT (non-AVB = 2.1 mm3 [0-20.1] vs. AVB = 26.0 mm3 [0.1-138.0], p = 0.02), while their MIS was significantly shorter than in non-AVB patients (non-AVB = 11.3 mm [9.9-13.4] vs. AVB = 9.44 mm [6.98-10.5]; p=0.014)). Partially, these group differences correlated positively (LCC -AV, r = 0.201, p = 0.012; RCC -LVOT, r = 0.283, p ≤ 0.001) or negatively (MIS length, r = -0.202, p = 0.008) with new-onset AVB III. CONCLUSION: We recommend including an MDCT in preoperative diagnostic testing for all patients undergoing surgical AVR for further risk stratification.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the need for postoperative permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI) following sutureless and rapid-deployment aortic valve replacement (SuRD-AVR) in the context of a progress report from a large multicenter international registry (SURD-IR). METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 4,166 patients who underwent SuRD-AVR between 2008 and 2019. The primary outcome was the need for PPI before discharge. The study population was analyzed separately according to the implanted prostheses (Su cohort and RD cohort). Each cohort was divided into two groups based on the operation date: an early group ("EG" = 2008-2016) and a late group ("LG" = 2017-2019). RESULTS: The rate of PPI decreased significantly in the Su cohort over time (EG = 10.8% vs LG = 6.3%, p < 0.001). In the Su cohort, a decrease in age, risk profile, and incidence of bicuspid aortic valve, increased use of anterior right thoracotomy, reduction of cardiopulmonary bypass time and of associated procedures, and more frequent use of smaller prostheses were observed over time. In the RD cohort, the rate of PPI was stable over time (EG = 8.8% vs LG = 9.3%, p = 0.8). In this cohort, a younger age, lower risk profile, and higher incidence of concomitant septal myectomy were observed over time. CONCLUSION: Our analysis showed a significant decrease in the PPI rate in patients who underwent Su-AVR over time. Patient selection as well as surgical improvements and a more accurate sizing could be correlated with this phenomenon. The RD cohort revealed no significant differences either in patient's characteristics or in PPI rate between the two time periods.

BACKGROPUND AND AIM: Postoperative thrombocytopenia after surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) or transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and aggravating causes were the aim of this retrospective study. METHODS: Data of all patients treated with SAVR (n = 1068) and TAVR (n = 816) due to severe aortic valve stenosis was collected at our center from 2010 to 2017. Preprocedural and postprocedural values were collected from electronic patient records. RESULTS: There was a significant drop in platelets in both groups, the TAVR group showed overall superior platelet preservation compared to the AVR group (P < .001). In the SAVR subgroup analysis, a significant difference in platelet preservation was observed between the valve types (P < .001), particularly with the Freedom SOLO valve. In the TAVR subgroup analysis, the valve type did not influence platelet count (PLT) reduction (P = .13). In the SAVR subgroup analyses, PLT was found to be worsened with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) duration. CONCLUSION: Thrombocytopenia frequently occurs after implantation of a biological heart valve prosthesis, with a higher frequency observed in patients after cardiac surgery rather than TAVR. Although some surgical bioprosthetic models are more susceptible to this phenomenon, CPB duration seems to be a major determinant for the development of postoperative thrombocytopenia.

AIMS: To assess the contribution of aortic valve calcification to the occurrence of transient or permanent atrioventricular block (AVB) and the need for permanent pacemaker implantation (PPI) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in a large single-centre cohort. METHODS AND RESULTS: We retrospectively analysed pre-operative contrast-enhanced multidetector computed tomography scans of patients who underwent TAVI in our centre between 2012 and 2016. Calcium volume was calculated for each aortic cusp above (aortic valve), and below [left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT)] the basal plane. Clinical and procedural data as well as pre-operative electrocardiograms were evaluated. Multivariate analysis was performed to evaluate risk factors for transient and permanent AVB. A total of 342 patients receiving a balloon-expandable prosthesis were included in the study. Overall incidence of transient and permanent AVB was 4% (n = 14) and 7.6% (n = 26), respectively. On logistic regression analysis, baseline right bundle branch block [odds ratio (OR) 7.36, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.6-20.6; P < 0.01], degree of oversizing (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.01-1.07 P = 0.02), prior percutaneous coronary intervention (OR 2.8, 95% CI 1.1-7.3), and LVOT calcification beneath the non-coronary cusp (OR for an increase of 10 mm3 = 1.06, 95% CI 1-1.1; P = 0.03) were found to be independently associated with permanent AVB and PPI, whereas calcification of LVOT beneath the right coronary cusp (OR for an increase of 10 mm3 = 1.16, 95% CI 1.02-1.3; P = 0.02) and balloon post-dilation (OR 3.8, 95% CI 1.2-11.8; P = 0.02) were associated with reversible AVB. CONCLUSION: Left ventricular outflow tract calcifications are associated with transient and non-reversible AVB after TAVI, and its evaluation could help in predicting onset and reversibility of AVB.

This study provides early results of re-operations after the prior surgical treatment of acute type A aortic dissection (AAD) and identifies risk factors for mortality. Between May 2003 and January 2014, 117 aortic re-operations after an initial operation for AAD (a mean time from the first procedure was 3.98 years, with a range of 0.1-20.87 years) were performed in 110 patients (a mean age of 59.8 ± 12.6 years) in seven European institutions. The re-operation was indicated due to a proximal aortic pathology in ninety cases: twenty aortic root aneurysms, seventeen root re-dissections, twenty-seven aortic valve insufficiencies and twenty-six proximal anastomotic pseudoaneurysms. In fifty-eight cases, repetitive surgical treatment was subscripted because of distal aortic pathology: eighteen arch re-dissections, fifteen arch dilation and twenty-five anastomotic pseudoaneurysms. Surgical procedures comprised a total of seventy-one isolated proximals, thirty-one isolated distals and fifteen combined interventions. In-hospital mortality was 19.6 % (twenty-three patients); 11.1 % in patients with elective/urgent indication and 66.6 % in emergency cases. Mortality rates for isolated proximal, distal and combined operations regardless of the emergency setting were 14.1 % (10 pts.), 25.8 % (8 pts.) and 33.3 % (5 pts.), respectively. The causes of death were cardiac in eight, neurological in three, MOF in five, sepsis in two, bleeding in three and lung failure in two patients. A multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that risk factors for mortality included previous distal procedure (p = 0.04), new distal procedure (p = 0.018) and emergency operation (p < 0.001). New proximal procedures were not found to be risk factors for early mortality (p = 0.15). This multicenter experience shows that the outcome of REAAD is highly dependent on the localization and extension of aortic pathology and the need for emergency treatment. Surgery in an emergency setting and distal re-do operations after previous AAD remain a surgical challenge, while proximal aortic re-operations show a lower mortality rate. Foresighted decision-making is needed in cases of AAD repair, as the results are essential preconditions for further surgical interventions.

The aim of this study was to compare the immediate outcome of patients undergoing transcatheter (TAVI) versus surgical aortic valve replacement with the sutureless Perceval bioprosthesis (SU-AVR). This is a retrospective multicenter analysis of 773 patients who underwent either TAVI (394 patients, mean age, 80.8 ± 5.5 years, mean EuroSCORE II 5.6 ± 4.9 %) or SU-AVR (379 patients, 77.4 ± 5.4 years, mean EuroSCORE II 4.0 ± 3.9 %) with or without concomitant myocardial revascularization. Data on SU-AVRs were provided by six European institutions (Belgium, Finland, Germany, Italy and Sweden) and data on TAVIs were provided by a single institution (Catania, Italy). In-hospital mortality was 2.6 % after SU-AVR and 5.3 % after TAVI (p = 0.057). TAVI was associated with a significantly high rate of mild (44.0 vs. 2.1 %) and moderate-severe paravalvular regurgitation (14.1 vs. 0.3 %, p < 0.0001) as well as the need for permanent pacemaker implantation (17.3 vs. 9.8 %, p = 0.003) compared with SU-AVR. The analysis of patients within the 25th and 75th percentiles interval of EuroSCORE II, i.e., 2.1-5.8 %, confirmed the findings of the overall series. One-to-one propensity score-matched analysis resulted in 144 pairs with similar baseline characteristics and operative risk. Among these matched pairs, in-hospital mortality (6.9 vs. 1.4 %, p = 0.035) was significantly higher after TAVI. SU-AVR with the Perceval prosthesis in intermediate-risk patients is associated with excellent immediate survival and is a valid alternative to TAVI in these patients.

INTRODUCTION: Despite increased operative time, minimally invasive cardiac surgery is associated with a lower morbidity than conventional aortic valve replacement (AVR). On the other hand, sutureless aortic bioprostheses have the potential of simplifying implantation, as it reduces the ischemic time. Our aim was to investigate the outcome of a sutureless AVR through a mini-sternotomy. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Since March 2010, a total of 262 patients affected by aortic valve stenosis underwent AVR with a sutureless bioprosthesis (Perceval, Sorin Group, Saluggia, Italy). Of these, 145 patients (mean age 77.8 ± 4.7 years, 80 women) underwent surgical AVR through a mini J-sternotomy. Clinical and echocardiographic data were evaluated. RESULTS: Patients received a size: S(12), M(49), L(67), or XL(17) prostheses, either as isolated (131) or combined procedures (14) including 2 redo patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass grafting via full sternotomy previously. Mean logistic EuroSCORE (I) was 9.9 ± 5.9%, and mean aortic cross-clamp time was 38 ± 12 minutes (35 ± 11 minutes in isolated procedures). Two conversions to full sternotomy were necessary because of bleeding. Thirty-day mortality was 2.1% (all noncardiac deaths); mean hospital stay was 11.6 ± 4.9 days. We recorded 11 pacemaker implantations (7.6%). At follow-up (23.5 ± 14.4 months), five patients were dead (three noncardiac and two cardiac deaths). At echocardiographic control, mean transprosthetic gradients were as follows: 12.8 ± 4.9, 12.5 ± 4.5, 11.8 ± 4.7 mm Hg, postoperatively at 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years, respectively. No paravalvular leaks were recorded. CONCLUSION: The sutureless bioprosthesis shows satisfactory clinical and hemodynamic results. Owing to its simple implantation technique, it represents a good support for minimally invasive access surgery via J-sternotomy.

RESUMEN

The implantation of sutureless bioprosthesis is currently not recommended in patients affected by bicuspid aortic valve because lacking data and follow up. We report the first case of a patient affected by bicuspid aortic valve stenosis and aneurysm of non coronary sinus of Valsalva that underwent a successful substitution of aneurysmatic sinus and minimal invasive sutureless implantation.

Every year, approximately 5 out of 1000 patients receive a diagnosis of advanced heart failure, with a prevalence of 1-2% in the adult population. This figure is likely underestimated, considering undiagnosed cases. Despite significant progress in medical therapy for heart failure, mortality rates persist around 20% within the first year, reaching 50-60% at 5 years from the initial diagnosis. For patients with severe end-stage heart failure, the 1-year mortality rate can reach up to 70%. Heart transplantation remains the preferred treatment for terminal stages of the disease; however, the significant challenge lies in the mismatch between available donors and recipients. Given this dilemma, both short-term solutions including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and long-term options such as left ventricular assist devices have gained prominence. These mechanical circulatory support systems become crucial for patients in critical conditions, temporarily ineligible for heart transplantation, such as those with severe irreversible pulmonary hypertension or acute organ failure. Despite these advancements, a growing number of patients on the waiting list develops severe biventricular dysfunction, precluding the use of a left ventricular assist device as a bridge to transplant. In such cases, a total artificial heart emerges as a viable therapeutic option.

The choice of the mechanical/biological heart valve prosthesis is a topic currently debated in the light of the transcatheter prosthetic models and the results obtained/expected with the new biological valve models. Consequently, it seems that increasingly younger patients would be indicated for an implantation of a biological prosthesis. This is also in order to improve the quality of life of patients who want to avoid oral anticoagulant therapy. On the other hand, the guidelines for the treatment of heart valve disease assign a central role to the use of mechanical valve prostheses, particularly for certain patient subsets and age groups. This means that mechanical prostheses are still widely used worldwide, especially in non-European or North American regions. The cardiac surgery community therefore seems to be very interested in biological prostheses and transcatheter implants and scarcely interested in mechanical prostheses, including possible strategies for self-management of anticoagulant therapy. Recently, the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery promoted a survey among its members to stimulate interest in the cardiac surgery community. This review article aims to summarize the most current results recorded with the use of mechanical prostheses and possible strategies, especially for the management of oral anticoagulant therapy, which can improve the patient's quality of life.

Background: An unexplained condition that follows transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is platelet count reduction (PR). According to published research, patients with balloon-expandable valves (BEVs) had a greater PR than those with self-expandable valves (SEVs). Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence and clinical effects of PR following TAVI. Methods: In total, 1.122 adult TAVI patients were enrolled. Propensity score matching was carried out in a 1:1 ratio between patients with BEVs and those with SEVs. The analysis included changes in platelet count, in-hospital mortality, and early postoperative adverse events. Results: Notably, 632 patients were matched (BEV:316; SEV:316). All patients' post-procedural platelet counts changed according to a parabolic curve, using a mixed regression model for repeated analyses (estimate = -0.931; standard error = 0.421; p = 0.027). The platelet count varied comparably in patients with BEVs and SEVs (estimate = -4.276, standard error = 4.760, p = 0.369). The average time for obtaining the nadir platelet count value was three days after implantation (BEV: 146 (108-181) vs. SEV: 149 (120-186); p = 0.142). Overall, 14.6% of patients (92/632) had post-procedural platelet count <100,000/µL. There was no difference between the two prosthesis types (BEV:51/316; SEV:41/316; p = 0.266). Thrombocytopenia was found to be significantly linked to blood product transfusions, lengthier stays in the intensive care unit and hospital, and in-hospital mortality. Conclusions: TAVI, irrespective of the type of implanted valve, is linked to a significant but temporary PR. Thrombocytopenia increases the risk of serious complications and in-hospital death in TAVI patients. To explore and clarify the causes and associated effects, further prospective research is necessary.

In the latest European guidelines for the management of valvular heart disease, mechanical valve prostheses maintain a strategic role, particularly for certain patient subsets and age groups. Despite the high number of devices implanted in clinical practice, particularly in non-European and North American regions, current scientific literature and debate seem to suggest a limited use of mechanical heart valves. The cardiac surgery community seems to be highly interested in biological and transcatheter valve prostheses but less interested in mechanical heart valves, including possible strategies for self-management of anticoagulation therapy. In this respect, the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICCH), in particular the Italian Group of Research for Outcome in Cardiac Surgery (GIROC), has promoted a survey among its members to stimulate the interest in this topic and express their opinion on this issue that, due to the prevalence of the affected population and the new treatment options for improving patients' quality of life, should be more appraised and debated in the cardiac surgery community. The recorded results, obtained on the answers to 111 questionnaires, seem to divide the specialists into 'pros' and 'contras' on a useful tool for the entire cardiac surgery community. For this reason, SICCH proposes in conclusion to declare its unified and institutional opinion on this topic.

OBJECTIVES: In the last decades, 4 different scores for the prediction of mortality following surgery for type A acute aortic dissection (TAAD) were proposed. We aimed to validate these scores in a large external multicentre cohort. METHODS: We retrospectively analysed patients who underwent surgery for TAAD between 2000 and 2020. Patients were enrolled from 10 centres from 2 European countries. Outcomes were the early (30-day and/or in-hospital) and 1-year mortality. Discrimination, calibration and observed/expected (O/E) ratio were evaluated. RESULTS: A total of 1895 patients (31.7% females, mean age 63.72 ± 12.8 years) were included in the study. Thirty-day mortality and in-hospital mortality were 21.7% (n = 412) and 22.5% (n = 427) respectively. The German Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) score shows to have the best discrimination [area under the curve (AUC) 0.671 and 0.672] in predicting as well the early and the 1-year mortality, followed by the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection (IRAD) model 1 (AUC 0.658 and 0.672), the Centofanti (AUC 0.645 and 0.66) and the UK aortic score (AUC 0.549 and 0.563). According to Hosmer-Lemeshow and Brier tests, the IRAD model I and GERAADA, respectively, were well calibrated for the early mortality, while the GERAADA and Centofanti for the 1-year mortality. The O/E analysis showed a marked underestimation for patients labelled as low-risk for UK aortic score and IRAD model I for both outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: The GERAADA score showed the best performance in comparison with other scores. However, none of them achieved together a fair discrimination and a good calibration for predicting either the early or the 1-year mortality.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study is to report the preliminary real-word clinical and hemodynamic performance from the MANTRA study in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement with Perceval PLUS sutureless valve. METHODS: MANTRA is an ongoing "umbrella" prospective, multi-center, international post-market study to collect real-life safety and performance data on Corcym devices (Corcym S.r.l, Saluggia, Italy). Clinical and echocardiographic outcomes were collected preoperatively, at discharge and at each follow up. KCCQ-12 and EQ-5D-5L quality of life questionnaires were collected preoperatively and at 30-days. RESULTS: A total of 328 patients underwent aortic valve replacement with Perceval PLUS in 29 International institutions. Patients were enrolled from July 2021 to October 2023 and enrollment is still ongoing. Mean age was 71.9 ± 6.4 years, mean EuroSCORE II was 2.9 ± 3.9. Minimally invasive approach was performed in 44.2% (145/328) of patients; concomitant procedures were done in 40.8% (134/328) of cases. Thirty-day mortality was 1.8% (6/328) and no re-interventions were reported. Pacemaker implant was required in 4.0% (13/328) of the patients. The assessment of the functional status demonstrated marked and stable improvement in NYHA class in most patients at 30-day follow-up, with significant increase of KCCQ-12 summary score (from 58.8 ± 23.0 to 71.8 ± 22.1, p < 0.0001) and EQ-5D-5L VAS score (from 64.5 ± 20.4 to 72.6 ± 17.5, p < 0.0001). Mean pressure gradient decreased from 46.2 ± 17.3 mmHg to 10.1 ± 4.7 mmHg at 30-day follow-up. Low or no incidence of moderate-to-severe paravalvular or central leak was reported. CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary results demonstrate good clinical outcomes and significant improvement of Quality of Life at 30-days, excellent early hemodynamic performance within patient implanted with Perceval PLUS.
