BACKGROUND: Lyme disease is the most frequent tick-borne infectious disease in Europe. It often presents with a wide variety of symptoms. For this reason, affection of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) caused by Lyme disease (LD) can be misdiagnosed as a common temporomandibular disorder (TMD). CASE PRESENTATION: The purpose of this case report of a 25-year-old woman presenting to the Departments of Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with extensive symptoms of temporomandibular disorder is to illustrate the delayed diagnosis of Lyme disease which was only made after extensive therapy of the temporomandibular joint. The specialist literature only reports a few cases of patients suffering from Lyme disease with TMJ manifestations. CONCLUSION: This case report and the relevant literature review aim to emphasize the importance of accurate request of medical history and differential diagnosis of acute TMJ arthritis and arthralgia. Early interdisciplinary diagnosis of Lyme disease and early antibiotic therapy are essential to avoid misdiagnosis and unnecessary, sometimes invasive, therapies.

OBJECTIVES: The clinical standard for alveolar cleft osteoplasty is augmentation with autologous bone being available in limited amounts and might be associated with donor site morbidity. The aim of the present study was the creation of tissue-engineered bone grafts and their in vivo evaluation regarding their potential to promote osteogenesis in an alveolar cleft model. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Artificial bone defects with a diameter of 3.3 mm were created surgically in the palate of 84 adult Lewis rats. Four experimental groups (n = 21) were examined: bovine hydroxyl apatite/collagen (bHA) without cells, bHA with undifferentiated mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC), bHA with osteogenically differentiated MSC. In a control group, the defect remained empty. After 6, 9 and 12 weeks, the remaining defect volume was assessed by cone beam computed tomography. Histologically, the remaining defect width and percentage of bone formation was quantified. RESULTS: After 12 weeks, the remaining defect width was 60.1% for bHA, 74.7% for bHA with undifferentiated MSC and 81.8% for bHA with osteogenically differentiated MSC. For the control group, the remaining defect width measured 46.2% which was a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The study design was suitable to evaluate tissue-engineered bone grafts prior to a clinical application. In this experimental set-up with the described maxillary defect, no promoting influence on bone formation of bone grafts containing bHA could be confirmed. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The creation of a sufficient tissue-engineered bone graft for alveolar cleft osteoplasty could preserve patients from donor site morbidity.

PURPOSE: At the moment, there is an inadequate margin fit of commercially available stoma buttons. The aim of the present study was to develop a customized short tracheal cannula based on digital data. Furthermore, the applied material has to be evaluated considering germ colonization and appropriate cleaning procedures. METHODS: Computed tomographies of 53 patients who underwent laryngectomy were surveyed. Based on the digital data, a customized short tracheal cannula was created and manufactured from silicone. The new cannula was incorporated in ten patients and worn for 4 weeks. A clinical examination of an otolaryngologist and subjective assessment of the patients were carried out. Furthermore, microbiological test considering germ colonization was performed. RESULTS: The customized short tracheal cannula could be incorporated in all patients. The clinical results showed no irritation or mucosal lesions. The subjective individual evaluation by the patients was promising. The proposals for improvement could be considered. The microbiological examination revealed a higher contamination of the silicone compared to the silver cannulas. Both chemical and mechanical decontamination showed sufficient results. CONCLUSION: A workflow for development and manufacturing of a customized short tracheal cannula from digital data could be established. The cannula is compatible to standard equipment and routine cleaning procedures. Clinical studies are required to evaluate the potential benefit for patients.

Dental implants are an established therapy for oral rehabilitation. High success rates are achieved in healthy bone, however, these rates decrease in compromised host bone. Coating of dental implants with components of the extracellular matrix is a promising approach to enhance osseointegration in compromised peri-implant bone. Dental titanium implants were coated with an artificial extracellular matrix (aECM) consisting of collagen type I and either one of two regioselectively low sulfated hyaluronan (sHA) derivatives (coll/sHA1Δ6s and coll/sHA1) and compared to commercial pure titanium implants (control). After extraction of the premolar teeth, 36 implants were inserted into the maxilla of 6 miniature pigs (6 implants per maxilla). The healing periods were 4 and 8 weeks, respectively. After animal sacrifice, the samples were evaluated histomorphologically and histomorphometrically. All surface states led to a sufficient implant osseointegration after 4 and 8 weeks. Inflammatory or foreign body reactions could not be observed. After 4 weeks of healing, implants coated with coll/sHA1Δ6s showed the highest bone implant contact (BIC; coll/sHA1Δ6s: 45.4%; coll/sHA1: 42.2%; control: 42.3%). After 8 weeks, a decrease of BIC could be observed for coll/sHA1Δ6s and controls (coll/sHA1Δ6s: 37.3%; control: 31.7 %). For implants coated with coll/sHA1, the bone implant contact increased (coll/sHA1: 50.8%). Statistically significant differences could not be observed. Within the limits of the current study, aECM coatings containing low sHA increase peri-implant bone formation around dental implants in maxillary bone compared to controls in the early healing period.

Due to dental diseases, anatomical restrictions, and mixed dentition, the reduction in the number of teeth and the displacement of tooth germs pose challenges in orthodontic treatment, limiting anchorage options. The presented case demonstrates an advanced treatment solution using digital CAD/CAM-technologies and medical imaging for the creation of a mini-implant template. A 12-year-old male patient experiencing delayed tooth eruption, multiple impacted germs, and maxillary constriction underwent intraoral scanning and CBCT. Utilizing coDiagnostiXTM Version 10.2 software, the acquired data were merged to determine the mini-implant placement and to design the template. The template was then manufactured through stereolithography using surgical-guide material. Mini-implants were inserted using the produced appliance, enabling safe insertion by avoiding vital structures. Surgically exposed displaced teeth were aligned using a Hyrax screw appliance anchored on the mini-implants for rapid palatal expansion (RPE) and subsequently used as fixed orthodontics to align impacted teeth. The screw was activated daily for 10 weeks, resulting in a 7 mm posterior and 5 mm anterior maxillary transversal increase. Skeletal anchorage facilitated simultaneous RPE and tooth alignment, ensuring accuracy, patient safety, and appliance stability. The presented case shows a scenario in which computer-aided navigation for mini-implant positioning can enhance precision and versatility in challenging anatomical cases.

This study evaluates masticatory efficiency in orthodontic patients with craniofacial disorders compared to controls without, considering the effect of an orthodontic appliance and malocclusion. A total of 119 participants (7-21 years), divided into a craniofacial disorder and control group (n = 42 and n = 77; mean age 13.5 ± 5.2 and 14.2 ± 3.3 years) were included. Masticatory efficiency was evaluated using a standard food model test, where masticated test food bodies were analyzed, and parameters like particle number (n) and area (mm2) were recorded. This study newly introduced the masticatory efficiency index (MEI), which encompasses the above terms (number and area), with a high MEI being an indicator of high masticatory ability. Younger orthodontic patients with a craniofacial disorder had a significantly decreased MEI (0.50 ± 0.25 n/mm2) compared to patients without (1.10 ± 0.48 n/mm2; p = 0.02). The presence of a crossbite significantly decreased masticatory efficiency, particularly in craniofacial disorder patients (0.69 ± 1.44 n/mm2) versus controls (0.89 ± 1.00 n/mm2, p = 0.04). As treatment progressed with age and fixed appliances, mastication group differences became non-significant, suggesting that patients with a craniofacial disorder were catching up to healthy controls in the rehabilitation of their masticatory function. Considering an early diagnosis of malocclusion during orthodontic therapy in combination with speech therapy can avoid negative malocclusion effects with growth, caused by muscle imbalances.

BACKGROUND: Ablative surgery of oropharyngeal tumors frequently leads to defects in the speech organs, resulting in impairment of speech up to the point of unintelligibility. The aim of the present study was the assessment of selected parameters of speech with and without resection prostheses. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The speech sounds of 22 patients suffering from maxillary and mandibular defects were recorded using a digital audio tape (DAT) recorder with and without resection prostheses. Evaluation of the resonance and the production of the sounds /s/, /sch/, and /ch/ was performed by 2 experienced speech therapists. Additionally, the patients completed a non-standardized questionnaire containing a linguistic self-assessment. RESULTS: After prosthesis supply, the number of patients with rhinophonia aperta decreased from 7 to 2 while the number of patients with intelligible speech increased from 2 to 20. Correct production of the sounds /s/, /sch/, and /ch/ increased from 2 to 13 patients. A significant improvement of the evaluated parameters could be observed only in patients with maxillary defects. The linguistic self-assessment showed a higher satisfaction in patients with maxillary defects. CONCLUSION: In patients with maxillary defects due to ablative tumor surgery, an increase in speech performance and intelligibility is possible by supplying resection prostheses.

BACKGROUND: To assess the long-term functional orthodontic outcome of the Tübingen palatal plate (TPP) in children with Robin sequence (RS) in comparison to age- and sex-matched healthy controls. METHODS: Between 09/2019 and 10/2020, we performed orthodontic assessments in 41 children at our Department of Orthodontics. Included were patients with RS (17 non-syndromic; four syndromic) and healthy controls (n = 22, average age in both groups 9.9 y). Facial analyses of 2D images, digital study casts and cephalometric measurements were made. RESULTS: The orthodontic examinations showed no statistically significant group differences regarding functional extraoral, intraoral and pharyngeal parameters, or in skeletal patterns. The relationship between the upper and lower incisors was significantly increased (overjet 4 (2-10) vs. 3 (0-9) mm; p = 0.01) with a significant deficit in the lower face proportions (Jaw Index 4.15 (1.9-9.6) vs. 2.98 (0-9); p = 0.02; Facial convexity angle 157 (149-173) vs. 159 (149-170); p = 0.01). CONCLUSION: Children with RS treated with the TPP showed normal long-term functional orthodontic outcomes, thanks to the functional adaption of the stomatognathic system. However, soft tissue growth did not completely match skeletal growth, resulting in a more convex facial profile.

For sinus grafting, different methods and materials are available. One possible shortcoming of particulate bone grafts is either overfilling or augmenting the planned implant area insufficiently. To overcome this risk and to determine the implant position prior augmentation, we present an approach using three-dimensional printed scaffolds. A patient with a remaining anterior dentition and bilateral severely atrophied posterior maxilla was seeking oral rehabilitation. The cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) showed residual bone heights between one and two millimeters. Following the three-dimensional reconstruction of the CBCT data, the positions of the implants were determined in areas 16 and 26. Three-dimensional scaffolds adapted to the topography of the sinus were virtually designed and printed using a calcium phosphate cement paste. Bilateral sinus floor augmentation applying the printed scaffolds with an interconnecting porosity followed. After nine months, a satisfying integration of the scaffolds was obvious. At the re-entry, vital bone with sufficient blood supply was found. One implant could be placed in positions 16 and 26, respectively. After five months, the implants could be uncovered and were provided with a temporary denture. The application of three-dimensionally printed scaffolds from calcium phosphate cement paste seems to be a promising technique to graft the severely atrophied posterior maxilla for the placement of dental implants.

This study evaluates the masticatory efficiency in patients with craniofacial disorders (CD) compared to controls (C). A total of 119 participants (7-21 years), divided into CD group (n = 42, mean age 13.45 ± 5.2 years) and C group (n = 77, mean age 14.3 ± 3.27 years) under an orthodontic treatment were included. Masticatory efficiency was assessed using a standard food model test. The masticated food was examined according to its number of particles (n) and area (mm2), wherein a higher number of particles alongside a smaller area was an indication of better masticatory efficiency. Additionally, the influence of cleft formation, chewing side, dentition stage, age and sex were evaluated. Patients with CD chewed the standardized food in fewer particles (nCD = 61.76 vs. nC = 84.58), with a significantly higher amount of area than the controls (ACD = 192.91 mm2 vs. AC = 146.84 mm2; p = 0.04). In conclusion, patients with CD showed a significantly decreased mastication efficiency compared to healthy patients. Factors such as stage of cleft formation, chewing side, dentition stage and age showed an influence on masticatory efficiency, whereas no gender effect on the masticatory efficiency of CD patients was found.

BACKGROUND: Education of undergraduates in implant dentistry has been extended. In order to assess the correct implant position, the accuracy of implant insertion using templates for pilot-drill guided and full-guided implant insertion was examined in a laboratory set-up in a cohort of undergraduates. METHODS: After three-dimensional planning of the implant position in partially edentulous mandibular models, individual templates for the pilot-drill guided or full-guided implant insertion in the region of the first premolar were produced. A total of 108 dental implants were inserted. The results of the radiographic evaluation of the three-dimensional accuracy were statistically analyzed. Furthermore, the participants completed a questionnaire. RESULTS: The deviation of the three-dimensional angle of the implants inserted fully guided was 2.74 ± 1.49 degrees compared to 4.59 ± 2.70 degrees for pilot-drill guided. The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.01). The returned questionnaires revealed a high interest in oral implantology and a positive evaluation of the hands-on course. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the undergraduates benefited from applying full-guided implant insertion considering the accuracy in this laboratory examination. However, the clinical effects are not clear as the differences are within a small range. Based on the returned questionnaires, the implementation of practical courses in the undergraduate curriculum should be encouraged.

Histological imaging is still considered the gold standard for analysing bone formation around metallic implants. Generally, a limited number of histological sections per sample are used for the approximation of mean values of peri-implant bone formation. In this study we compared statistically the results of bone-implant contact (BIC) and bone-implant volume (BIV) obtained by histological sections, with those obtained by X-ray absorption images from synchrotron radiation micro-computed tomography (SRµCT) using osseointegrated screw-shaped implants from a mini-pig study. Comparing the BIC results of 3-4 histological sections per implant sample with the appropriate 3-4 SRµCT slices showed a non-significant difference of 1.9 % (p = 0.703). The contact area assessed by the whole 3D information from the SRµCT measurement in comparison to the histomorphometric results showed a non-significant difference in BIC of 4.9 % (p = 0.171). The amount of the bone-implant volume in the histological sections and the appropriate SRµCT slices showed a non-significant difference by only 1.4 % (p = 0.736) and also remains non-significant with 2.6 % (p = 0.323) using the volumetric SRµCT information. We conclude that for a clinical evaluation of implant osseointegration with histological imaging at least 3-4 sections per sample are sufficient to represent the BIC or BIV for a sample. Due to the fact that in this study we have found a significant intra-sample variation in BIC of up to ± 35 % the selection of only one or two histological sections per sample may strongly influence the determined BIC.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this systematic review was to assess the scientific literature in terms of pre-clinical studies evaluating the influence of material, surface and design on the integration of an implant by hard and soft tissues. The included publications were analysed with regard to the frequency of reporting of criteria being derived from the ARRIVE guidelines. This served to trace elements within animal studies, where the quality of reporting needs to improve. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The literature search was performed in Ovid Medline and included English literature from January 1990 to July 2011. A list of 24 criteria derived from the ARRIVE guidelines for animal research was adjusted to implant studies on osseointegration in pristine bone and was applied to all included study manuscripts. Each criteria was graded by "0" (not reported) or "1" (reported) and the frequency of reporting for each criteria was recorded. RESULTS: A total of 271 studies were included into this review. Generally the quality of reporting increased with time. Low frequencies of reporting were achieved for criteria like "randomisation of animals", "reasons for the animal model" and "relevance to humans". CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of reporting showed high percentages for most criteria. However, the quality of reporting in pre-clinical studies needs to improve in areas like the reporting of statistical information, study setup and the possible translation of the results to humans.

BACKGROUND: Dental implantology has become an established option for treating tooth loss over the recent decades. Before inserting an implant in a clinical situation, theoretical and practical training is recommended. Different methods are available to give assistance in determining the correctly planned implant position. In this study, two different guiding methods were assessed considering their accuracy for implant insertion in a group of dentists. METHODS: After three-dimensional planning of the implant positions, two surgical templates were manufactured as follows: in region 34 a stereolithographic template was used to perform a full-guided implant insertion, in region 44 a CAD/CAM milled template was used to determine the implant position and subsequently, perform a free-hand insertion. In total, 86 implants were placed in mandibular models by 43 dentists participating in a postgraduate curriculum. The differences between planned and achieved implant positions were measured and statistically analyzed. RESULTS: The implants inserted fully-guided showed a lower deviation of the three-dimensional angulation (2.266 ± 1.443 degrees vs. 7.954 ± 4.372 degrees) and the cumulated mismatch of the implant position (0.547 ± 0.237 mm vs. 1.160 ± 0.427 mm) compared to the free-handed mode. For the angulation and the mismatch at the implant base the differences were statistically significant (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Within the limits of the study it can be summarized that the full-guided implant insertion leads to a higher transfer accuracy compared to the free-hand method in a cohort of dentist inexperienced in dental implantology. However, the clinical effect has to be discussed as the study was performed using artificial mandibles and ideal conditions.

Three dimensional (3D) printing allows additive manufacturing of patient specific scaffolds with varying pore size and geometry. Such porous scaffolds, made of 3D-printable bone-like calcium phosphate cement (CPC), are suitable for bone augmentation due to their benefit for osteogenesis. Their pores allow blood-, bone- and stem cells to migrate, colonize and finally integrate into the adjacent tissue. Furthermore, the pore size affects the scaffold's stability. Since scaffolds in maxillofacial surgery have to withstand high forces within the jaw, adequate mechanical properties are of high clinical importance. Although many studies have investigated CPC for bone augmentation, the ideal porosity for specific indications has not been defined yet. We investigated 3D printed CPC cubes with increasing pore sizes and different printing orientations regarding cell migration and mechanical properties in comparison to commercially available bone substitutes. Furthermore, by investigating clinical cases, the scaffolds' designs were adapted to resemble the in vivo conditions as accurately as possible. Our findings suggest that the pore size of CPC scaffolds for bone augmentation in maxillofacial surgery necessarily needs to be adapted to the surgical site. Scaffolds for sites that are not exposed to high forces, such as the sinus floor, should be printed with a pore size of 750 µm to benefit from enhanced cell infiltration. In contrast, for areas exposed to high pressures, such as the lateral mandible, scaffolds should be manufactured with a pore size of 490 µm to guarantee adequate cell migration and in order to withstand the high forces during the chewing process.

AIM: We hypothesized that coating threaded, sandblasted acid-etched titanium implants with collagen and chondroitin sulphate (CS) increases bone formation and implant stability, compared with uncoated controls. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Three different implant surface conditions were applied: (1) sandblasted acid-etched (control), (2) collagen/chondroitin sulphate (low-dose--CS1), (3) collagen/chondroitin sulphate (high-dose--CS2). Sixty 9.5 mm experimental implants were placed in the mandible of 20 minipigs. Bone-implant contact (BIC) and relative peri-implant bone-volume density (rBVD--relation to bone-volume density of the host bone) were assessed after 1 and 2 months of submerged healing. Implant stability was measured by resonance frequency analysis (RFA). RESULTS: After 1 month, coated implants had significantly more BIC compared with controls (CS1: 68%, p<0.0001, CS2: 63%, p=0.009, control: 52%). The rBVD was lower for all surface conditions, compared with the hostbone. After 2 months, BIC increased for all surfaces. No significant differences were measured (CS1: 71%, p=0.016, CS2: 68%, p=0.67, control: 63%). The rBVD was increased for coated implants. RFA values were 71-77 at implantation, 67-73 after 1 month and 74-75 after 2 months. Differences in rBVD and RFA were not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS: Data analysis suggests that collagen/CS has a positive influence on bone formation after 1 month of endosseous healing.

BACKGROUND: As a growing field in dentistry, the practical education during the undergraduate curriculum in implant dentistry should be extended. Not only the theoretical background but also practical skills are crucial to place implants in patients. In order to determine the exact implant position, several positioning aids are available. In the present laboratory study, the accuracy of implant insertion using two different guiding modes in a group of inexperienced participants was assessed. METHODS: After three-dimensional planning using the data of a cone beam computed tomography of artificial mandibles, surgical templates were manufactured by thermoforming. In region 35, a sleeve for the pilot drill was used, whereas in region 45, a sleeve allowing a full-guided implant insertion was inserted. Subsequently, a total of 104 implants were placed by 52 undergraduates. Radiographical assessment of the three-dimensional accuracy was performed. Furthermore, the time required to insert the implants was recorded. Statistical analysis followed. DISCUSSION: When comparing the three-dimensional accuracy of the virtually planned to the actual inserted implant, a statistically significantly higher accuracy in three-dimensional angulation was achieved for the full-guided (3.388 ± 1.647°) compared to the pilot-drill guided mode (5.792 ± 3.290°). Furthermore, the time required to insert the implant was shorter for the full-guided template (6.23 ± 1.78 min) vs. for the pilot-drill guided (8.84 ± 2.39 min). Both differences reached a statistical significance (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: Within the limit of this laboratory study, the results suggest that inexperienced surgeons benefit from a full-guided implant insertion. However, the clinical effects have to be discussed as the mismatch was varying in the decimillimeter range.

BACKGROUND: The Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by keratocystic odontogenic tumors in the jaws, multiple basal cell carcinomas and skeletal abnormities. Frequently, the manifestation of the syndrome occurs in the adolescent years. CASE PRESENTATION: An 11-year-old boy was referred to our clinic due to the persistence of the lower deciduous molars. The further diagnosis revealed bilateral keratocystic odontogenic tumors in the region of teeth 33 and 45 representing a symptom of a Gorlin-Goltz syndrome. This case of the oral rehabilitation of an adolescent with bilateral keratocystic odontogenic tumors shows the approach of a multidisciplinary treatment concept including the following elements: Enucleation and bone defect augmentation using a prefabricated bone graft; distraction osteogenesis to extend the graft-block vertically after cessation of growth; accompanying orthodontic treatment, guided implant placement and prosthetic rehabilitation. Six months after implant insertion, a new keratocystic odontogenic tumor in the basal part of the left sinus maxillaris had to be removed combined with the closure of the oroantral fistula. During the follow-up period of 18 months in semi-annual intervals, the patient showed no sign of pathology. CONCLUSION: In the presented case could be shown that distraction osteogenesis of prefabricated bone blocks is possible. With a multidisciplinary approach in a long-term treatment a sufficient oral rehabilitation of the patient suffering from extended keratocystic odontogenic tumors was possible.

Implant dentistry is a growing field in the education of undergraduate dental students. The present laboratory study evaluates factors which may potentially influence the accuracy of free-hand implant insertion and the use of an orientation template. After three-dimensional planning using coDiagnostiXTM, orientation templates, including sleeves for the pilot-drill in regions 41 and 45, were manufactured by thermoforming. Sixty-one fifth year dental students inserted one implant using the orientation template and another implant free-hand in an artificial mandible. Information regarding age, sex, handedness, education, and the time required for implant insertion were recorded. Subsequently, the mandibles were scanned using cone-beam-computed tomography and the accuracy of the implant position was assessed, while statistical analysis followed. The free-hand implant insertion resulted in a distal deviation of -1.34 ± 5.15° and a mesial mismatch of 0.06 ± 0.79 mm at the artificial bone level compared to the sleeves. When using the orientation templates, the deviation decreased to -0.67 ± 3.48° and a distal mismatch of -0.22 ± 0.62 mm was achieved. The difference was statistically significant for the mismatch (p < 0.049). Regarding the limitations of our study, it could be said that the accuracy level achieved by dental undergraduates using implant placement with orientation templates is comparable to that in other studies.

One consequence of demographic change is the increasing demand for biocompatible materials for use in implants and prostheses. This is accompanied by a growing number of experimental animals because the interactions between new biomaterials and its host tissue have to be investigated. To evaluate novel materials and engineered tissues the use of non-destructive imaging modalities have been identified as a strategic priority. This provides the opportunity for studying interactions repeatedly with individual animals, along with the advantages of reduced biological variability and decreased number of laboratory animals. However, histological techniques are still the golden standard in preclinical biomaterial research. The present article demonstrates a detailed method comparison between histology and magnetic resonance imaging. This includes the presentation of their image qualities as well as the detailed statistical analysis for assessing agreement between quantitative measures. Exemplarily, the bony ingrowth of tissue engineered bone substitutes for treatment of a cleft-like maxillary bone defect has been evaluated. By using a graphical concordance analysis the mean difference between MRI results and histomorphometrical measures has been examined. The analysis revealed a slightly but significant bias in the case of the bone volume [Formula: see text] and a clearly significant deviation for the remaining defect width [Formula: see text] But the study although showed a considerable effect of the analyzed section position to the quantitative result. It could be proven, that the bias of the data sets was less originated due to the imaging modalities, but mainly on the evaluation of different slice positions. The article demonstrated that method comparisons not always need the use of an independent animal study, additionally.
