RESUMEN

The synergistic effect of hollow cavities and multiple hetero-interfaces displays huge advantages in achieving lightweight and high-efficient electromagnetic wave absorption, but still confronts huge challenges. Herein, hierarchical Co2 P/CoS2 @C@MoS2 composites via the self-sacrificed strategy and a subsequent hydrothermal method have been successfully synthesized. Specifically, ZIF-67 cores first act as the structural template to form core-shell ZIF-67@poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol) (ZIF-67@PZS) composites, which are converted into hollow Co2 P@C shells with micro-mesoporous characteristics because of the gradient structural stabilities and preferred coordination ability. The deposition of hierarchical MoS2 results in phase transition (Co2 P→Co2 P/CoS2 ), yielding the formation of hierarchical Co2 P/CoS2 @C@MoS2 composites with hollow cavities and multiple hetero-interfaces. Benefiting from the cooperative advantages of hollow structure, extra N,P,S-doped sources, lattice defects/vacancies, diverse incoherent interfaces, and hierarchical configurations, the composites deliver superior electromagnetic wave capability (-56.6 dB) and wideband absorption bandwidth (8.96 GHz) with 20 wt.% filler loading. This study provides a reliable and facile strategy for the precise construction of superior electromagnetic wave absorbents with efficient absorption attenuation.

RESUMEN

Induced polarization response and integrated magnetic resonance show prosperous advantages in boosting electromagnetic wave absorption but still face huge challenges in revealing the intrinsic mechanism. In this work, we propose a self-confined strategy to construct hierarchical Fe-Co@TiO2 microrods with numerous incoherent heterointerfaces and gradient magnetic domains. The results demonstrate that the use of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) coating is crucial for the subsequent deposition of Co-zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-67), the distance of ordered arranged metal ions manipulates the size of magnetic domains, and the pyrolysis of PVP layers restricts the eutectic process of Fe-Co alloys to some extent. As a result, these introduced lattice defects, oxygen vacancies, and incoherent heterointerfaces inevitably generate a strong polarization response, and the regulated gradient magnetic domains realize integrated magnetic resonance, including macroscopic magnetic coupling, long-range magnetic diffraction, and nanoscale magnetic bridge connection, and both of the intrinsic mechanisms in dissipating electromagnetic energy are quantitatively clarified by Lorentz off-axis electron holography. Owing to the cooperative merits, the Fe-Co@TiO2 absorbents exhibit enhanced absorption intensity and strong absorption bandwidth. This study inspires us to develop a generalized strategy for manipulating the size of magnetic domains, and the integrated magnetic resonance theory provides a versatile methodology in clarifying magnetic loss mechanism.

RESUMEN

RATIONALE: Primary hepatic neuroendocrine tumors are rarely reported and extremely blurry to diagnose, especially in the case of a confirmed diagnosis of colon cancer and a family history. Here we report such a case followed by our experiences and lessons. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 62-year-old male with a family history of colon cancer has been recently admitted to our hospital, exhibiting multiple hepatic lesions when diagnosed as colon cancer, and all assistant examinations indicated the hepatic metastases. DIAGNOSES: Liver puncture biopsy and immunohistochemistry confirmed hepatic neuroendocrine carcinoma, which was tended to primary hepatic tumor combining medical history. INTERVENTIONS AND OUTCOMES: The patient refused the further treatment and dead of liver failure. LESSONS: Hepatic neuroendocrine tumors exhibited no specific symptoms, signs or imaging manifestations, mainly relying on immunohistochemistry for diagnosis, which makes it difficult to be distinguished from other liver masses and metastatic tumors, especially interfered by a confirmed diagnosis of colon cancer and a family history. In this regard, more rigorousness is required in the diagnosis and treatment of liver tumors.

RESUMEN

Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) has excellent therapeutic efficacy in the treatment of cancers, but can cause serious adverse reactions such as hand-foot syndrome (HFS). Our previous research suggests that both PLD-induced HFS may be associated with injury to tight junctions (TJs) in the skin and that calcium dobesilate (CaD) can alleviate HFS. However, the underlying molecular mechanism is not well understood. Here, we created an in vitro PLD-treated model using Human Microvascular Endothelial Cell line-1 (HMEC-1) and an in vivo HFS rat model to investigate the underlying pathways. Treatment with PLD increased the expression of HYAL-1, CD44, and hyaluronic acid (HA) concentration, while reducing ZO-1 and Claudin-5 expression. Moreover, PLD treatment induced the degradation of higher molecular weight HA to its lower molecular weight counterpart, elevating the permeability of both HEMC-1 cell membranes and rat paw skin capillaries. AD-01 (CD44 inhibitor) inhibited the effect of PLD on the expression of ZO-1 and Claudin-5. Furthermore, CaD treatment suppressed the expression of HYAL-1 and CD44, mitigated HA degradation, and enhanced the expression of ZO-1 and Claudin-5. This resulted in decreased permeability in HEMC-1 cells and rat skin capillaries. In summary, our data suggest that PLD may promote the destruction of TJs via the HA/CD44 pathway, thereby leading to HFS through increased skin permeability and exacerbated doxorubicin extravasation. Moreover, CaD can inhibit this pathway, offering a potential therapeutic avenue to alleviate HFS.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To develop and validate a normal phase HPLC-MS/MS method for the determination of donepezil enantiomer in human plasma. METHODS: Donepezil was extracted from plasma by n-hexane:isopropanol (98:2, V/V) with lidocaine serving as an internal standard. The analytes went through the column of CHIRALCEL OJ-H (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 5 microm) with mobile phase n-hexane:n-propanol:diethylamine (60:40: 0.1, V/V/V). Donepezil enantiomer was determined by API 3000 in MRM mode. RESULTS: The retention time of S-DN and R-DN were 15.56 min and 18.41 min, respectively. The calibration curves were linear in a range from 0.051 to 7.596 ng/mL for S-DN, and from 0.049 to 7.404 ng/mL for R-DN, respectively, both with more than 0.99 correlation coefficients. The relative recovery were 95.10%-103.70% for S-DN and 93.58%-98.00% for R-DN, respectively; the pretreatment recovery were 58.42%-61.08% for S-DN and 53.24%-61.87% for R-DN, respectively; the within-day RSD ranged from 8.35% to 11.28% for S-DN and from 6.78% to 11.58% for R-DN, respectively; the between-day RSD ranged from 5.82% to 9.02% for S-DN and from 6.87% to 9.19% for R-DN, respectively. CONCLUSION: This normal phase HPLC-MS/MS method is simple, rapid, sensitive and accurate for the determination of donepezil enantiomer in human plasma and is suitable for pharmacokinetic studies of donepezil enantiomers.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Although soluble suppression of tumorigenicity-2 (sST2) has been identified as a clinical biomarker for pulmonary hypertension (PH) by previous studies, the implication of sST2 combined with hemodynamic parameters in PH has not been well studied. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between sST2 and hemodynamic parameters and to evaluate the predictive value of sST2 for mortality in patients with PH. METHODS: One hundred eighty-four incident patients with PH and 14 healthy controls were retrospectively enrolled by Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital for this retrospective study. After all patients underwent right heart catheterization, blood samples were collected and serum sST2 concentration was assessed by the Presage™ ST2 assay. Kaplan-Meier curve and Cox regression analyses were used to predict survival and the association between survival and different factors such as sST2, SvO2. RESULTS: During a follow-up of 44.9 (IQR 28.5-64.4) months, 65 patients died. The median concentration of sST2 in PH patients was 33.1 ng/mL, which is higher than that in control group (23.1 ng/mL, P=0.005). Furthermore, for PH group, the level of sST2 was higher in non-survivors than that in survivors. Cox regression analyses demonstrated that sST2 and SvO2 were independent risk factors for survival. In Kaplan-Meier curve analyses, elevated sST2 level and reduced SvO2 predicted a poor outcome for patients with PH. CONCLUSIONS: Higher sST2 was independently associated with increased mortality, as well as lower SvO2 in patients with PH. Especially, the combination of higher sST2 and lower SvO2 had the strongest predictive value of mortality in patients with PH.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Acute vasoreactivity testing (AVT) during right heart catheterization (RHC) is performed in certain subsets of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in order to identify those who benefit from calcium channel blockers. The present study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of pre-AVT, post-AVT, and changes in AVT (ΔAVT) parameters for idiopathic PAH (IPAH) patients with a negative acute response, and to identify sex differences that could be of prognostic value. METHODS: A total of 487 incident IPAH patients (171 males and 316 females) with a negative acute response to AVT were recruited from Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital between 2009 and 2018. Outcomes were predicted using the Kaplan-Meier curve and univariate/multivariate Cox regression analyses. All patients were followed up till January 2020, with outcome specified as all-cause mortality. RESULTS: Inhalation of iloprost aerosol improved the hemodynamic parameters for all patients. Post-PVR was decreased, and post-cardiac output (post-CO) and post-cardiac index (post-CI) were increased compared with pre-AVT parameters among males. Increased post- artery oxygen saturation (post-SaO2) and decreased post-mean right atrium pressure (post-mRAP) were also observed in females. For all patients, pre-CO ≥3.25 L/min, post-mPAP <53 mmHg, and post-mixed venous oxygen saturation (post-SvO2) ≤63% were parameters suggesting better prognosis. For males, patients with pre-PVR <12.47 Wood units, pre-SvO2 ≥64%, and post-mean pulmonary artery pressure (post-mPAP) <51 mmHg had a better prognosis. For females, patients with ΔmPAP ≥-4 mmHg and ΔPVR ≥-0.25 Wood units had better outcomes. CONCLUSIONS: AVT parameters, including pre-AVT, post-AVT and ΔAVT, have a more important prognostic value than currently used for identify a small subgroup of patients with PAH who are suitable for high-dose calcium channel blockers. Sex differences in AVT parameters suggest that sex should be taken into account in estimating prognosis.
