RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim: To present data on the possibility of occurrence and active progression of generalized periodontitis in persons with secretory immunoglobulin A deficiency and possible methods of its correction. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Мaterials and methods: Analytical elaboration of scientific and medical literature based on the immunological aspect of generalized periodontitis. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The deficiency of secretory immunoglobulin A may occur in cases of primary or secondary insufficiency of the immune system. Selective IgA deficiency is an example of primary insufficiency of the immune system. Secondary immunodeficiency disorders is a clinical and immunological syndrome that develops against the background of a previously normally functioning immune system, characterized by a steady decrease in quantitative or functional indicators of specific or(and) nonspecific factors of immunoresistance. Insufficient awareness of dentists about certain aspects of the etiology and pathogenesis of generalized periodontitis leads to deterioration of treatment results.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research is to study the physical and mechanical parameters of the bases in removable laminar dentures after modification of their surface. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: the studied samples were divided into two groups (group I - acrylic plastics, and group II - acrylic plastics with fullerene С60 nanocoating), 50 samples in each group. The coefficients of water absorption, water solubility, microhardness and deformation characteristics of materials were studied. RESULTS: Results and conclusions: The material covered with fullerene С60 has a lower coefficient of water absorption and water solubility, which amounted to 0.55% and 0.23% respectively, from the initial weight of samples, as compared with acrylic plastics without coating (0.71% and 034%, respectively). The strength parameters of samples of group ІІ were higher by 13.5% as compared to group І. The given results of water absorption and water-solubility show that acrylic plastics with fullerene С60 molecules coating has a lower coefficient of water absorption and water solubility, in comparison with acrylic plastics without coating. This indicates a higher degree of resistance to biodegradation of the modified surface material, in turn reducing the washing-out of residual monomer from the denture, which directly improves the strength parameters of the acrylic plastics and can prevent the development of denture stomatitis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Introduction: In recent years in Ukraine, as in the entire world, there has been an increase in cases of domestic injuries with a raise in the number of patients with craniocerebral trauma and its consequences. The aim of our research was to study clinical symptoms, the state of free radical oxidation, aggregate and hemocoagulative properties of blood in patients with mild craniocerebral trauma. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: We conducted comprehensive clinical and laboratory examination of 34 patients with mild craniocerebral trauma and 20 apparently healthy patients (the control group). The diagnosis was made under ICD-10. The verification of the diagnosis was based on data from clinical examination, neurological status of neuroimaging (computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging). The study group included 24 men and 10 women aged from 19 to 40. In addition, 20 apparently healthy individuals of the same age were examined, who comprised the control group (14 men and 6 women). In the blood parameters of all patients, we examined free radical oxidation, hemostasis and aggregation properties of platelets. RESULTS: Results: The conducted study revealed clinical disturbances, changes in the parameters of free radical lipid oxidation, coagulation and microcirculatory hemostasis. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: All patients with mild craniocerebral trauma, develop disturbances in the form of symptoms of microorganic lesion of the central nervous system: convergence weakness in 100% of patients, Mann's symptom (76.4%), disruption of the function of the cranial nerves (58.8%), signs of pyramidal insufficiency (68.4%), vestibular disorders (94.1%), autonomic vascular dysfunction (100%). Mild craniocerebral trauma is accompanied by the activation of free radical lipid oxidation processes, decreased activity of antioxidant enzymes, hypercoagulation, and increased aggregation properties of platelets.
