RESUMO

The reflective optical configuration of the coded aperture snapshot spectral imager (CASSI) based on a digital micromirror device (DMD) features both high quality and high flexibility of intensity modulation, but the image quality is always subject to off-axis aberration. This letter analyzes the formation of the off-axis aberration, and then proposes an optical-axis-shift (OAS) configuration to compensate for this adverse effect in the DMD-based reflective CASSI system. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed design can effectively eliminate the off-axis aberration. The average peak signal-to-noise ratio of the reconstructed spectral images is improved by approximately 2.8 dB. In addition, other methods to alleviate the off-axis aberration are discussed, and the superiority of the proposed design is signified. The proposed OAS design is easy to implement with commercially available components, and provides an initial configuration of an optical design to implement a high-performance CASSI instrument.

RESUMO

Hyperspectral image classification (HIC) is an active research topic in remote sensing. Hyperspectral images typically generate large data cubes posing big challenges in data acquisition, storage, transmission and processing. To overcome these limitations, this paper develops a novel deep learning HIC approach based on compressive measurements of coded-aperture snapshot spectral imagers (CASSI), without reconstructing the complete hyperspectral data cube. A new kind of deep learning strategy, namely 3D coded convolutional neural network (3D-CCNN), is proposed to efficiently solve for the classification problem, where the hardware-based coded aperture is regarded as a pixel-wise connected network layer. An end-to-end training method is developed to jointly optimize the network parameters and the coded apertures with periodic structures. The accuracy of classification is effectively improved by exploiting the synergy between the deep learning network and coded apertures. The superiority of the proposed method is assessed over the state-of-the-art HIC methods on several hyperspectral datasets.

RESUMO

The role of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 in modulating allergy-induced asthma is contradictory. We investigated the effect of TLR2 gene deletion in a murine model of ovalbumin (OVA)-challenged asthma. TLR2 wild-type (TLR2(+/+)) and TLR2-deficient (TLR2(-/-)) mice were sensitized to soluble OVA antigens and challenged with OVA, and the extent of allergic airways disease was analyzed in both groups of mice at day 8 after being challenged with OVA aerosol. At day 8 post-OVA, TLR2(-/-) mice exhibited significantly lower airway hyperresponsiveness, airway inflammation, and whole lung T-helper type 2 (Th2) cytokine levels compared with the TLR2(+/+) group. TLR2 deletion also significantly reduced mucus cell metaplasia and peribronchial fibrosis in mice at day 8 after challenged by OVA. The p38/AKT/nuclear factor kappaB (NF-kappaB) p65 and phosphate extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)/p38/AKT was decreased in TLR2(-/-) mouse lungs. Thus, during OVA asthma in mice, TLR2 is a major contributor to the maintenance of the adaptive Th2-cytokine-driven inflammatory disorder and ERK/p38 as well as AKT/NF-κB playing a role in it.

RESUMO

Deep convolutional neural networks approaches often assume that the feature response has a Gaussian distribution with target-centered peak response, which can be used to guide the target location and classification. Nevertheless, such an assumption is implausible when there is progressive interference from other targets and/or background noise, which produces sub-peaks on the tracking response map and causes model drift. In this paper, we propose a feature response regularization approach for sub-peak response suppression and peak response enforcement and aim to handle progressive interference systematically. Our approach, referred to as Peak Response Regularization (PRR), applies simple-yet-efficient method to aggregate and align discriminative features, which convert local extremal response in discrete feature space to extremal response in continuous space, which enforces the localization and representation capability of convolutional features. Experiments on human pose detection, object detection, object tracking, and image classification demonstrate that PRR improves the performance of image tasks with a negligible computational cost.

RESUMO

Background and study aims Delayed bleeding and thrombotic events are uncontrolled adverse events that are hard to balance in patients receiving anticoagulants after endoscopic resection. The present study aims to assess the clinical effect of warfarin, when compared to direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), in terms of delayed bleeding and thrombotic events. Methods A comprehensive electronic literature search was conducted for eligible literature. Pairwise meta-analyses were performed on outcomes of delayed bleeding and thrombotic events. Two networks within the Bayesian framework were established based on the management of anticoagulants and type of DOAC. Results Eight cohort studies with 2,046 patients were eligible for inclusion, including 1,176 patients treated with warfarin and 870 with DOACs. There was no significant difference between warfarin and DOACs, in terms of delayed bleeding (OR = 1.29, 95 % CI [0.99-1.69]) and thromboembolism (OR = 2.0, 95 % CI [0.32-12.39]). In the network meta-analyses for delayed bleeding, the rank probabilities revealed that the safest management was discontinuous warfarin without heparin bridge therapy (HBT). Rank probabilities for the types of DOACs demonstrated that the safest drug was dabigatran. Conclusions There was no significant difference in delayed bleeding and thromboembolism between warfarin and DOACs in patients receiving endoscopic treatment. In terms of delayed bleeding, discontinuous warfarin without HBT was suggested as the best management, and dabigatran was recommended as the best type of DOAC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In the past several years, there has been an increasing concern on miscarriage caused by endometriosis or adenomyosis. However, the results reported by different studies remain controversial. The present study is aimed at assessing the impact of endometriosis and adenomyosis on miscarriage. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Searches were carried out in PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane library for studies published from inception until February 29, 2020. The investigators included studies that evaluated miscarriage risk in pregnant women with endometriosis or adenomyosis by assisted reproductive technology (ART), or with spontaneous conception (SC). Miscarriage (<28 weeks) was the primary outcome. The secondary outcomes were antepartum hemorrhage (APH), postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), preterm birth, low birthweight, placenta praevia, placental abruption, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Endnote was used for the study collection, and the data analyses were carried out by two authors using Review Manager version 5.2. RESULTS: Thirty-nine studies, which is comprised of 697,984 women, were included in the present study. Miscarriage risk increased in women with endometriosis in SC (OR: 1.81, 95% CI: 1.44-2.28, I 2 = 96%) compared with those without endometriosis, while women with endometriosis who underwent ART had a similar miscarriage risk, when compared to those with tubal infertility (OR: 1.03, 95% CI: 0.92-1.14, I 2 = 0%). Compared with those without adenomyosis, women with adenomyosis had an augmented miscarriage risk in ART (OR: 2.81, 95% CI: 1.44-5.47, I 2 = 64%). Compared with those without endometriosis, women with endometriosis had higher odds of APH, PPH, preterm birth, stillbirth, and placenta praevia. No difference was observed in the incidence of ectopic pregnancy, placental abruption, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, low birthweight, and IUGR. CONCLUSION: Women with endometriosis had an augmented miscarriage risk in SC and a similar miscarriage risk during ART. Adenomyosis was associated with miscarriage in pregnant women using ART.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Chronic cough is a common symptom in children. We wished to explore the value of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) for cough-variant asthma (CVA) in children with chronic cough. METHODS: This prospective cohort study was conducted in the Children's Hospital of Soochow University from January 2012 to December 2014. Children aged 6-14 years with a cough of duration >4 weeks were enrolled. They underwent FeNO measurement, sputum cytology and pulmonary function tests. RESULTS: A total of 115 patients and 25 healthy controls were evaluated. For the diagnosis of CVA, the optimal FeNO cutoff value was 25 ppb with a sensitivity of 84.0%, specificity of 97.1%, positive predictive value of 97.5%, and negative predictive of being 81.4%. The FeNO level had a significant correlation with eosinophil count in sputum (P<0.05). FeNO level in CVA was decreased significantly after treatment (P=0.001). CONCLUSIONS: In children, FeNO measurement might be an excellent method for diagnosing CVA with high sensitivity and specificity.

RESUMO

Using the surface of poly (sulfone) hollow fiber membrane segments as grafted layer, the hydrophilic acrylamide chain was grafted on by UV-photoinduced grafting polymerization. The gained improvement of surface wettability for the modified membrane was tested by measuring the contact-angle as well as FTIR spectra. Then correlation between the hydrophilic ability of support material and the biofilm adherence ability was demonstrated by comparing the pollutant removal rates from urban wastewater via two identical lab-scale up-flow biological aerated filters, one employed the surface wettability modified poly (sulfone) hollow fiber membrane segment as biofilm carrier and the other employed unmodified membrane segment as biofilm carrier. The experimental results showed that under the conditions of influent flux 5 L/h, hydraulic retention time 9 h and gas to liquid ratio (G/L) 10:1, the removal rates of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonium nitrogen (NH4(+)-N) for the modified packing filter and the unmodified packing filter was averaged at 83.64% and 96.25%, respectively, with the former filter being 5%-20% more than the latter. The effluent concentration of COD, NH4(+)-N and turbidity for the modified packing filter was 25.25 mg/L, 2 mg/L and 8 NTU, respectively. Moreover, the ammonium nitrogen removal performance of the filter packing the modified PSF was compared with the other bioreactor packing of an efficient floating medium. The biomass test indicated that the modified membrane matrixes provided better specific adhesion (3310-5653 mg TSS/L support), which gave a mean of 1000 mg TSS/L more than the unmodified membrane did. In addition, the phenomenon of simultaneous denitrification on the inner surface of the support and nitrification on the outer surface was found in this work.

RESUMO

Using the inner-surface of polysulfone hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes as grafted layer, the method of gas-initiation and liquid-polymerization has been studied, which aimed to adjust the diameter of the pores in the membranes. The degree of polymerization varied with the changes of the parameters, such as irradiation time, monomer concentration, temperature and time of polymerization and soon. The results indicated that using benzophenone (BP) which is in a gaseous condition as photo-initiator, acrylamide as graft monomer, the polyacrylamide chain was grafted on the surface of membranes. After the surface membrane being modified, the water flux and retention altered, and thus it can be seen that the diameter of the pores in the membrane was altered. These experiments contribute to finding a new way to produce the hollow fiber membrane with the small pore size and are extraordinarily worth developing and studying.
