CuInS2 (CIS) quantum dots (QDs) represent an important class of colloidal materials with broad application potential, owing to their low toxicity and unique optical properties. Although coating with a ZnS shell has been identified as a crucial method to enhance optical performance, the occurrence of cation exchange has historically resulted in the unintended formation of Cu-In-Zn-S alloyed QDs, causing detrimental blueshifts in both absorption and photoluminescence (PL) spectral profiles. In this study, we present a facile one-pot synthetic strategy aimed at impeding the cation exchange process and promoting ZnS shell growth on CIS core QDs. The suppression of both electron-phonon interaction and Auger recombination by the rigid ZnS shell results in CIS/ZnS core/shell QDs that exhibit a wide near-infrared (NIR) emission coverage and a remarkable PL quantum yield of 92.1%. This effect boosts the fabrication of high-performance, QD-based NIR light-emitting diodes with the best stability of such materials so far.

The generation of bioactive truncated oxidized phospholipids (Tr-OxPLs) from oxidation of cell-membrane or circulating lipoproteins is a common feature of various pathological states. Scavenger receptor CD36 is involved in lipid transport and acts as a receptor for Tr-OxPLs. Interestingly, Tr-OxPLs and CD36 are involved in endothelial dysfunction-derived acute lung injury, but the precise mechanistic connections remain unexplored. In the present study, we investigated the role of CD36 in mediating pulmonary endothelial cell (EC) dysfunction caused by Tr-OxPLs. Our results demonstrated that the Tr-OxPLs KOdia-PC, Paz-PC, PGPC, PON-PC, POV-PC, and lysophosphocholine caused an acute EC barrier disruption as revealed by measurements of transendothelial electrical resistance and VE-cadherin immunostaining. More importantly, a synthetic amphipathic helical peptide, L37pA, targeting human CD36 strongly attenuated Tr-OxPL-induced EC permeability. L37pA also suppressed Tr-OxPL-induced endothelial inflammatory activation monitored by mRNA expression of inflammatory cytokines/chemokines and adhesion molecules. In addition, L37pA blocked Tr-OxPL-induced NF-κB activation and tyrosine phosphorylation of Src kinase and VE-cadherin. The Src inhibitor SU6656 attenuated KOdia-PC-induced EC permeability and inflammation, but inhibition of the Toll-like receptors (TLRs) TLR1, TLR2, TLR4, and TLR6 had no such protective effects. CD36-knockout mice were more resistant to Tr-OxPL-induced lung injury. Treatment with L37pA was equally effective in ameliorating Tr-OxPL-induced vascular leak and lung inflammation as determined by an Evans blue extravasation assay and total cell and protein content in BAL fluid. Altogether, these results demonstrate an essential role of CD36 in mediating Tr-OxPL-induced EC dysfunction and suggest a strong therapeutic potential of CD36 inhibitory peptides in mitigating lung injury and inflammation.

BACKGROUND: Lipid metabolism plays a pivotal role in asthma pathogenesis. However, a comprehensive analysis of the importance of lipid metabolism-related genes (LMRGs) in regulating the immune microenvironment in asthma remains lacking. The transcriptome matrix was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset. Differentially expressed analysis and weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) were conducted on the GSE74986 dataset to select hub LMRGs, and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was conducted to explore their biological functions. The CIBERSORT algorithm was used to determine immune infiltration in the asthma and control groups, and the correlation of diagnostic biomarkers and immune cells was performed via Spearman correlation analysis. Subsequently, a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed to investigate the hidden molecular mechanism of asthma. The expression levels of the hub genes were further validated in the GSE143192 dataset, and RT‒qPCR and immunofluorescence were performed to verify the reliability of the results in the OVA asthma model. Lastly, the ceRNA network was confirmed by qRT-PCR and RNAi experiments in the characteristic cytokine (IL-13)-induced asthma cellular model. RESULTS: ASAH1, ACER3 and SGPP1 were identified as hub LMRGs and were mainly involved in protein secretion, mTORC1 signaling, and fatty acid metabolism. We found more infiltration of CD8+ T cells, activated NK cells, and monocytes and less M0 macrophage infiltration in the asthma group than in the healthy control group. In addition, ASAH1, ACER3, and SGPP1 were negatively correlated with CD8+ T cells and activated NK cells, but positively correlated with M0 macrophages. Within the ceRNA network, SNHG9-hsa-miR-615-3p-ACER3, hsa-miR-212-5p and hsa-miR-5682 may play crucial roles in asthma pathogenesis. The low expression of ASAH1 and SGPP1 in asthma was also validated in the GSE74075 dataset. After SNHG9 knockdown, miR-615-3p expression was significantly upregulated, while that of ACER3 was significantly downregulated. CONCLUSION: ASAH1, ACER3 and SGPP1 might be diagnostic biomarkers for asthma, and are associated with increased immune system activation. In addition, SNHG9-hsa-miR-615-3p-ACER3 may be viewed as effective therapeutic targets for asthma. Our findings might provide a novel perspective for future research on asthma.

The introduction of lanthanide ions (Ln3+) into all-inorganic lead-free halide perovskites has captured significant attention in optoelectronic applications. However, doping Ln3+ ions into heterometallic halide layered double perovskite (LDP) nanocrystals (NCs) and their associated doping mechanisms remain unexplored. Herein, we report the first colloidal synthesis of Ln3+ (Yb3+, Er3+)-doped LDP NCs utilizing a modified hot-injection method. The resulting NCs exhibit efficient near-infrared (NIR) photoluminescence in both NIR-I and NIR-II regions, achieved through energy transfer down-conversion mechanisms. Density functional theory calculations reveal that Ln3+ dopants preferentially occupy the Sb3+ cation positions, resulting in a disruption of local site symmetry of the LDP lattices. By leveraging sensitizations of intermediate energy levels, we delved into a series of Ln3+-doped Cs4M(II)Sb2Cl12 (M(II): Cd2+ or Mn2+) LDP NCs via co-doping strategies. Remarkably, we observe a brightening effect of the predark states of Er3+ dopant in the Er3+-doped Cs4M(II)Sb2Cl12 LDP NCs owing to the Mn component acting as an intermediate energy bridge. This study not only advances our understanding of energy transfer mechanisms in doped NCs but also propels all-inorganic LDP NCs for a wider range of optoelectronic applications.

The cluster-based body-centered-cubic superlattice (cBCC SL) represents one of the most complicated structures among reported nanocrystal assemblies, comprised of 72 truncated tetrahedral quantum dots per unit cell. Our previous report revealed that truncated tetrahedral quantum dots within cBCC SLs possessed highly controlled translational and orientational order owing to an unusual energetic landscape based on the balancing of entropic and enthalpic contributions during the assembly process. However, the cBCC SL's structural transformability and mechanical properties, uniquely originating from such complicated nanostructures, have yet to be investigated. Herein, we report that cBCC SLs can undergo dynamic transformation to face-centered-cubic SLs in response to post-assembly molecular exposure. We monitored the dynamic transformation process using in situ synchrotron-based small-angle X-ray scattering, revealing a dynamic transformation involving multiple steps underpinned by interactions between incoming molecules and TTQDs' surface ligands. Furthermore, our mechanistic study demonstrated that the precise configuration of TTQDs' ligand molecules in cBCC SLs was key to their high structural transformability and unique jelly-like soft mechanical properties. While ligand molecular configurations in nanocrystal SLs are often considered minor features, our findings emphasize their significance in controlling weak van der Waals interactions between nanocrystals within assembled SLs, leading to previously unremarked superstructural transformability and unique mechanical properties. Our findings promote a facile route toward further creation of soft materials, nanorobotics, and out-of-equilibrium assemblies based on nanocrystal building blocks.

The assembly of uniform nanocrystal building blocks into well ordered superstructures is a fundamental strategy for the generation of meso- and macroscale metamaterials with emergent nanoscopic functionalities1-10. The packing of spherical nanocrystals, which frequently adopt dense, face-centred-cubic or hexagonal-close-packed arrangements at thermodynamic equilibrium, has been much more widely studied than that of non-spherical, polyhedral nanocrystals, despite the fact that the latter have intriguing anisotropic properties resulting from the shapes of the building blocks11-13. Here we report the packing of truncated tetrahedral quantum dot nanocrystals into three distinct superstructures-one-dimensional chiral tetrahelices, two-dimensional quasicrystal-approximant superlattices and three-dimensional cluster-based body-centred-cubic single supercrystals-by controlling the assembly conditions. Using techniques in real and reciprocal spaces, we successfully characterized the superstructures from their nanocrystal translational orderings down to the atomic-orientation alignments of individual quantum dots. Our packing models showed that formation of the nanocrystal superstructures is dominated by the selective facet-to-facet contact induced by the anisotropic patchiness of the tetrahedra. This study provides information about the packing of non-spherical nanocrystals into complex superstructures, and may enhance the potential of self-assembled nanocrystal metamaterials in practical applications.

PURPOSE: Sleep problems are a significant issue in patients with lung cancer, and resilience is a closely related factor. However, few studies have identified subgroups of resilience and their relationship with sleep quality. This study aimed to investigate whether there are different profiles of resilience in patients with lung cancer, to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of each subgroup, and to determine the relationship between resilience and sleep quality in different subgroups. METHODS: A total of 303 patients with lung cancer from four tertiary hospitals in China completed the General Sociodemographic sheet, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Latent profile analysis was applied to explore the latent profiles of resilience. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the sociodemographic variables in each profile, and ANOVA was used to explore the relationships between resilience profiles and sleep quality. RESULTS: The following three latent profiles were identified: the "high-resilience group" (30.2%), the "moderate-resilience group" (46.0%), and the "low-resilience group" (23.8%). Gender, place of residence, and average monthly household income significantly influenced the distribution of resilience in patients with lung cancer. CONCLUSION: The resilience patterns of patients with lung cancer varied. It is suggested that health care providers screen out various types of patients with multiple levels of resilience and pay more attention to female, rural, and poor patients. Additionally, individual differences in resilience may provide an actionable means for addressing sleep problems.

OBJECTIVE: A network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to compare and rank the effectiveness of various breathing exercises for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). DATA SOURCES: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases to determine the articles. STUDY SELECTION: Publications investigating the effect of breathing exercises on exercise capacity (six-minute walk test [6MWT]), pulmonary function (the ratio of the first second forced expiratory volume of forced vital capacity [FEV1/FVC]), quality of life (St George's Respiratory Questionnaire [SGRQ]), inspiratory muscle pressure (maximum inspiratory pressure [PImax]), and dyspnea (Borg scale) were searched. DATA EXTRACTION: Data extracted by 2 researchers were entered into predesigned tables for data extraction. The quality of the literature was assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration's tool. DATA SYNTHESIS: A total of 43 RCTs involving 1977 participants were analyzed. To boost exercise capacity, the top 2 exercises were inspiratory muscle training (75%), Chinese traditional fitness exercises (13%); To improve pulmonary function, the top 2 exercises were Chinese traditional fitness exercises (32%), diaphragm breathing (30%); To raise patients' quality of life, the top 2 exercises were yoga (52%), diaphragm breathing (28%); To increase inspiratory muscle pressure, the top 2 exercises were pursed-lip breathing (47%), Chinese traditional fitness exercises (25%); To improve dyspnea, the top 2 exercises were yoga (44%), inspiratory muscle training (22%). CONCLUSIONS: Various breathing exercises for COPD patients confer benefits that manifest in diverse ways. Pulmonary rehabilitation specialists could administer personalized breathing exercises tailored to each patient's condition to attain optimal therapeutic outcomes.

BACKGROUND: Parenting is both a complex and stressful endeavor, so parents sometimes experience parenting burnout. The main objective of this study was to provide an overview of factors related to general parental burnout (PB) among parents with at least one child based on the Ecological Systems Theory (EST). METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, CNKI and WanFang were systematically searched for studies published from 2010 to July 2023 for peer-reviewed articles using keywords extracted from Medical Subject Headings such as "parenting", "parental", "burnout", "psychological burnout", "burn-out syndrome". Studies were included if they described associations between factors and PB among parents of children aged 0-18 years old in the general population, and published in an English or Chinese language peer-reviewed journal. The Quality Assessment Tool for Studies with Diverse Designs (QATSDD) was employed to assess the risk of bias of included studies. RESULTS: Of 2037 articles, 26 articles met the inclusion criteria. Based on the Ecological Systems Theory (EST), we found that microsystem-individual factors such as gender, educational level, income, parental personality, internalization of maternal parental motivation, unmitigated communion, self-compassion and concern for others, alexithymia, anxiety and depressive symptoms, parental perfectionism, resilience, low self-esteem and high need for control, mother's attachment style were identified as being associated with parenting burnout. Mesosystem-interpersonal factors involve parent-child relationship and marital satisfaction. The exosystem-organizational or community factors include the number of children in the household, neighborhood and the number of hours spent with children, child's illness, child's behavior problems and social support. The macrosystem-society/policy or culture factors are mainly personal values and cultural values. CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review found several factors that have been investigated in relation to PB. However, the majority of the factors were reported by one or two studies often implementing a cross-sectional design. Nevertheless, we still recommend that health policymakers and administrators relieve parenting burnout among parents with children by adjusting these modifiable factors.

Space-based solar power harvesting systems with high levels of specific power (the power produced per mass of the mounted photovoltaic cell) are highly desired. In this study, we synthesized high quality lead-free Cs3Cu2Cl5 perovskite nanodisks with efficient ultraviolet (UV) photon absorption, high photoluminescence quantum yields, and a large Stokes shift, which are suitable to serve as photon energy downshifting emitters in the applications of photon-managing devices especially for space solar power harvesting. To demonstrate this possibility, we have fabricated two types of photon-managing devices, i.e., luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) and luminescent downshifting (LDS) layers. Both experimental results and simulation analyses show that the fabricated LSC and LDS devices exhibit high visible light transmission, low photon scattering and reabsorption energy loss, high UV photon harvesting, and energy conversion after integrating with silicon-based photovoltaic cells. Our research presents a new avenue for utilizing lead-free perovskite nanomaterials in space applications.

Developing Type-I core/shell quantum dots is of great importance toward fabricating stable and sustainable photocatalysts. However, the application of Type-I systems has been limited due to the strongly confined photogenerated charges by the energy barrier originating from the wide-bandgap shell material. In this project, we found that through the decoration of Au satellite-type domains on the surface of Type-I CdS/ZnS core/shell quantum dots, such an energy barrier can be effectively overcome and an over 400-fold enhancement of photocatalytic H2 evolution rate was achieved compared to bare CdS/ZnS quantum dots. Transient absorption spectroscopic studies indicated that the charges can be effectively extracted and subsequently transferred to surrounding molecular substrates in a subpicosecond time scale in such hybrid nanocrystals. Based on density functional theory calculations, the ultrafast charge separation rates were ascribed to the formation of intermediate Au2S layer at the semiconductor-metal interface, which can successfully offset the energy confinement introduced by the ZnS shell. Our findings not only provide insightful understandings on charge carrier dynamics in semiconductor-metal heterostructural materials but also pave the way for the future design of quantum dot-based hybrid photocatalytic systems.

In the field of supramolecular chemistry, host-guest systems have been extensively explored to encapsulate a wide range of substrates, owing to emerging functionalities in nanoconfined space that cannot be achieved in dilute solutions. However, host-guest chemistry is still limited to encapsulation of small guests. Herein, we construct a water-soluble metallo-supramolecular hexagonal prism with a large hydrophobic cavity by anchoring multiple polyethylene glycol chains onto the building blocks. Then, assembled prisms are able to encapsulate quantum dots (QDs) with diameters of less than 5.0 nm. Furthermore, we find that the supramolecular cage around each QD strongly modifies the photophysics of the QD by universally increasing the rates of QD relaxation processes via ultrafast electron and vibrational energy transfer. Taken together, these efforts expand the scope of substrates in host-guest systems and provide a new approach to tune the optical properties of QDs.

Liquids and solids are two fundamental states of matter. However, our understanding of their three-dimensional atomic structure is mostly based on physical models. Here we use atomic electron tomography to experimentally determine the three-dimensional atomic positions of monatomic amorphous solids, namely a Ta thin film and two Pd nanoparticles. We observe that pentagonal bipyramids are the most abundant atomic motifs in these amorphous materials. Instead of forming icosahedra, the majority of pentagonal bipyramids arrange into pentagonal bipyramid networks with medium-range order. Molecular dynamics simulations further reveal that pentagonal bipyramid networks are prevalent in monatomic metallic liquids, which rapidly grow in size and form more icosahedra during the quench from the liquid to the glass state. These results expand our understanding of the atomic structures of amorphous solids and will encourage future studies on amorphous-crystalline phase and glass transitions in non-crystalline materials with three-dimensional atomic resolution.

Extracellular DNA-binding proteins such as histones are danger-associated molecular pattern released by the injured tissues in trauma and sepsis settings, which trigger host immune response and vascular dysfunction. Molecular events leading to histone-induced endothelial cell (EC) dysfunction remain poorly understood. This study performed comparative analysis of H1, H2A, H2B, H3, and H4 histone subunits effects on human pulmonary EC permeability and inflammatory response. Analysis of transendothelial electrical resistance and EC monolayer permeability for macromolecues revealed that H3 and H4, but not H1, H2A, or H2B caused dose-dependent EC permeability accompanied by disassembly of adherens junctions. At higher doses, H3 and H4 activated nuclear factor kappa B inflammatory cascade leading to upregulation EC adhesion molecules ICAM1, VCAM1, E-selectin, and release of inflammatory cytokines. Inhibitory receptor analysis showed that toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 but not TLR1/2 or receptor for advanced glycation end inhibition significantly attenuated deleterious effects of H3 and H4 histones. Inhibitor of Rho-kinase was without effect, while inhibition of Src kinase caused partial preservation of cell-cell junctions, H3/H4-induced permeability and inflammation. Deleterious effects of H3/H4 were blocked by heparin. Activation of Epac-Rap1 signaling restored EC barrier properties after histone challenge. Intravenous injection of histones in mice caused elevation of inflammatory markers and increased vascular leak. Post-treatment with pharmacological Epac/Rap1 activator suppressed injurious effects of histones in vitro and in vivo. These results identify H3 and H4 as key histone subunits exhibiting deleterious effects on pulmonary vascular endothelium via TLR4-dependent mechanism. In conclusion, elevation of circulating histones may represent a serious risk of exacerbated acute lung injury (ALI) and multiple organ injury during severe trauma and infection.

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether self-perceptions of aging (SPAs) predict physical resilience after a fall and whether SPA and physical resilience affect subsequent social engagement in older adults with a fall. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. SETTING: General community. PARTICIPANTS: Older adults who reported a fall within 2 years after baseline data collection (N=1707, mean age 72.9 years, 60.9% women). MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: Physical resilience indicates the ability to resist or recover from functional decline from a stressor. The change in frailty status from directly after the fall to up to 2 years of follow-up was used to generate 4 physical resilience phenotypes. Social engagement was dichotomized based on the presence at 1 of the 5 social activities at least once a month. The 8-item Attitudes Toward Own Aging Scale was used to assess SPA at baseline. Multinomial logistic regression and nonlinear mediation analysis were used. RESULTS: Positive prefall SPA predicted more resilient phenotypes after a fall. Both positive SPA and physical resilience affected subsequent social engagement. Physical resilience partially mediated the association between SPA and social re-engagement (mediated percentage of 14.5%, P=.004). This mediation effect was fully driven by those with previous falls. CONCLUSION: Positive SPA promotes physical resilience in older adults with a fall, both of which affect subsequent social engagement. Physical resilience partially mediated the effect of SPA on social engagement but only for previous fallers. Multidimensional recovery incorporating psychological, physiological, and social aspects should be stressed in the rehabilitation of older adults who fall.

BACKGROUND: With aging, body mass index (BMI) increases and muscle strength declines, resulting in dynapenic obesity. It remains unknown whether and how sleep duration contributes to the sequence of BMI and muscle strength change in the progression of dynapenic obesity. METHODS: Data were derived from the first two waves of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. Sleep duration was self-reported. BMI was calculated and grip strength (GS) was measured to reflect muscle strength. The effect of baseline sleep duration on the sequential change of BMI and GS was assessed using two mediation models considering the nonlinear associations between them. The moderating effect of metabolic disorder was also tested. RESULTS: Totally 4986 participants aged ≥ 50 years (50.8% females) with complete information on variables were included. Baseline BMI fully mediated the nonlinear association between sleep duration and follow-up GS change, but baseline GS did not mediate between sleep duration and follow-up BMI change for older men and women. Short sleep duration positively affected BMI-induced GS change (ß = 0.038; 95%CI, 0.015-0.074), while this favorable effect became nonsignificant for moderate sleep duration (ß = 0.008; 95% CI, -0.003-0.024) and turned negative with prolonged sleep duration (ß = - 0.022; 95%CI, - 0.051 to - 0.003). This nonlinear mediation effect was more pronounced in older women who are relatively metabolically healthy at baseline. CONCLUSION: For older adults in China, the influence of sleep duration on BMI-induced GS change but not the GS-induced BMI change suggested the contribution of sleep duration to the sequential course in the progression of dynapenic obesity. Sleep duration deviated either above or below normal range may confer adverse impact on GS through BMI. Strategies addressing sleep and obesity jointly to improve muscle function and delay the progression of dynapenic obesity are required.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Health promotion for middle-aged and older people has received a lot of attention recently in the context of healthy aging. Furthermore, it is unclear how body mass index (BMI) presently affects self-rated health (SRH), a reliable and representative indicator of health. METHODS: This study used longitudinal follow-up data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). Systematic collection of information on the socio-demographic, lifestyle, and health status of the subjects. Binary logistic regression was used to investigate the relationship between BMI and SRH, and gender-specific variations were examined. Subgroup analysis was used to examine interactions, and the results of the research stability were demonstrated. RESULTS: After adjusting for age, gender, education level, marital status, place of residence, number of chronic diseases, alcohol consumption, smoking, depressive symptoms, and SRH at baseline, it was found that obesity grade 1 and obesity grade 2 were good contributors to SRH compared to normal weight individuals, and this association was different in males and females. According to the results of the subgroup analyses, those under 65 years old, with junior high school or less education, with a spouse, residing in a city, having one chronic disease, and not smoking or drinking, respectively, all had stable positive associations between obesity and SRH. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that obesity may be associated with good SRH. Teams of healthcare professionals should revisit the potential impact of obesity among middle-aged and older adults and focus on developing prevention strategies for morbid obesity.

PURPOSE: Parenting style plays a pivotal role in children's chronic disease control. However, the relationship and underlying mechanism between parenting style and asthma control remain unclear. This study investigated the effects of parenting style on children's general self-efficacy, medication adherence and asthma control and the mediating effects of general self-efficacy and medication adherence among school-age children with asthma. DESIGN AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study with a convenience sampling approach was conducted. This study followed the STROBE guidelines. School-age children with asthma and their parents (N = 211) from pediatric respiratory clinics in China completed the General Questionnaire, Short-Egna Minnen av. Barndoms Uppfostran-Chinese, General Self-Efficacy Scale, Medication Adherence Questionnaire and Childhood Asthma Control Test. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the mediation models. RESULTS: Positive parenting style was positively correlated with child general self-efficacy, medication adherence and asthma control (r = 0.602, 0.572, 0.613, p < 0.001). Negative parenting style was negatively correlated with child general self-efficacy, medication adherence and asthma control (r = -0.535, -0.598, -0.586, p < 0.001). Structure Equation Modle (SEM) results indicated that the relationships between positive parenting style, negative parenting style and child asthma control were mediated by general self-efficacy (Effect Size [ES]: 0.209, 95%CI [0.075, 0.372]; and ES: -0.229, 95%CI [-0.387, -0.103], respectively) and medication adherence (ES: 0.128, 95%CI [0.032, 0.322]; and ES: -0.190, 95%CI [-0.432, -0.071], respectively) and together in serial (ES: 0.177, 95%CI [0.076, 0.295]; and ES: -0.118, 95%CI [-0.235, -0.020], respectively). CONCLUSIONS: Parenting style may impact child asthma through both child general self-efficacy and medication adherence. The study may provide useful intervention targets for improving asthma control. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Nurses should encourage parents to increase positive parenting style while decreasing negative parenting style. Family interventions focusing on general self-efficacy and medication adherence may be advantageous to improve asthma control.

However, at present, the lack of corresponding evaluation norms, resulting in some difficulties in the registration, marketing, quality control, evaluation scale and other aspects of the product. Some products have many disadvantages in clinical use. From the perspective of technical review, this paper elaborates and analyzes the main concerns in technical review, such as product structure, main risks, performance requirements, clinical evaluation, etc., in order to provide a basis for the design, development, production, registration, use and post-marketing supervision of the devices.

TLR7 (Toll-like receptor 7), the sensor for single-stranded RNA, contributes to systemic inflammation and mortality in murine polymicrobial sepsis. Recent studies show that extracellular miR-146a-5p serves as a TLR7 ligand and plays an important role in regulating host innate immunity. However, the role of miR-146a-5p and TLR7 signaling in pulmonary inflammation, endothelial activation, and sepsis-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome remains unclear. Here, we show that intratracheal administration of exogenous miR-146a-5p in mice evokes lung inflammation, activates endothelium, and increases endothelial permeability via TLR7-dependent mechanisms. TLR7 deficiency attenuates pulmonary barrier dysfunction and reduces lung inflammatory response in a murine sepsis model. Moreover, the impact of miR-146a-5p-TLR7 signaling on endothelial activation appears to be a secondary effect because TLR7 is undetectable in the human pulmonary artery and microvascular endothelial cells (ECs), which show no response to direct miR-146a-5p treatment in vitro. Both conditioned media of miR-146a-5p-treated macrophages (Mϕ) and septic sera of wild-type mice induce a marked EC barrier disruption in vitro, whereas Mϕ conditioned media or septic sera of TLR7-/- mice do not exhibit such effect. Cytokine array and pathway enrichment analysis of the Mϕ conditioned media and septic sera identify TNFα (tumor necrosis factor α) as the main downstream effector of miR-146a-5p-TLR7 signaling responsible for the EC barrier dysfunction, which is further supported by neutralizing anti-TNFα antibody intervention. Together, these data demonstrate that TLR7 activation elicits pulmonary inflammation and endothelial barrier disruption by sensing extracellular miR-146a-5p and contributes to sepsis-associated acute respiratory distress syndrome.
