RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic, motile and rod-shaped bacterium, designated as 6D33T, was isolated from mangrove soil. Growth was found to occur at 15-32 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 6-9 (optimum, pH 7) and in 0-3 % NaCl (optimum, 1 %, w/v). The results of 16S rRNA gene-based analysis showed that strain 6D33T belonged to the family Temperatibacteraceae, sharing 93.1-94.4 % identity with its close neighbours within the genus Kordiimonas. The phylogenomic results indicated that strain 6D33T formed an independent branch distinct from type strains of the genus Kordiimonas. The overall genome relatedness indices of digital DNA-DNA hybridization, average nucleotide identity and amino acid identity values showed that strain 6D33T represents a novel species of a novel genus. The results of chemotaxonomic characterization indicated that the major cellular fatty acids of strain 6D33T were summed feature 9 (C16 : 0 10-methyl and/or iso-C17 : 1 ω9c), summed feature 3 (C16 : 1 ω6c and/or C16 : 1 ω7c) and iso-C15 : 0; the polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, an unidentified aminolipid and three unidentified lipids; the only respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10. The genomic size and DNA G+C contents were 3.59 Mbp and 60.84 mol%, respectively. The 16S rRNA gene sequence reads abundance profiles revealed that the rare taxon is prevalent in marine environments, especially in sediments. Genome-scale metabolic reconstruction of strain 6D33T revealed a heterotrophic lifestyle and many pathways responsible for the degradation of aromatic compounds, suggesting application potential in aromatic hydrocarbon removal. Based on its genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, strain 6D33T is concluded to represent a novel species of the novel genus in the family Temperatibacteraceae, for which the name Gimibacter soli gen. nov. sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of the type species is 6D33T (=GDMCC 1.1959T=KCTC 82335T).

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile and pleomorphic bacterium designated as YG55T was isolated from a coastal sediment sample. Growth was found to occur at 10-37 °C (optimum, 28 °C), at pH 6-9 (optimum, pH 8) and in 0-6 % NaCl (optimum, 1 %). The results of 16S rRNA gene-based analysis showed that strain YG55T was related to the members of the genus Tsuneonella and shared the highest identity of 99.4 % with Tsuneonella dongtanensis GDMCC 1.2307T, followed by Tsuneonella troitsensis JCM 17037T (98.4 %). The phylogenomic results indicated that strain YG55T formed an independent branch distinct from the reference type strains. The 22.7 and 21.8 % digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values and 83.0 and 81.8 % average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between strain YG55T and the two relatives were below the species definition thresholds of 70 % (dDDH) and 95-96 % (ANI), indicating that the strain represents a novel genospecies. The results of chemotaxonomic characterization indicated that the major cellular fatty acids of strain YG55T were summed feature 8 (C18 : 1 ω6c and/or C18 : 1 ω7c), C14 : 0 2OH and C16 : 0; the main polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylcholine and sphingoglycolipid; the respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-10. The genomic size and DNA G+C contents were 3.03 Mbp and 66.98 %. The strain contained carotenoid biosynthesis genes and could produce carotenoids. Based on its genotypic and phenotypic characteristics, strain YG55T is concluded to represent a novel species of the genus Tsuneonella, for which the name Tsuneonella litorea sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YG55T (=GDMCC 1.2590 T=KCTC 82812T).

In this study, a hollow tubulous-shaped In2O3 derived from MIL (MIL-68 (In)) exhibited an enhanced specific surface area compared to MIL. To further sensitize In2O3, ZnIn2S4 was grown in situ on the derived In2O3. The 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite (1 mmol ZnIn2S4 loaded on 40 mg In2O3) exhibited degradation rates of methyl orange (MO) under visible light (80 mW·cm-2, 150 min) that were 17.9 and 1.4 times higher than those of the pure In2O3 and ZnIn2S4, respectively. Moreover, the 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 exhibited an obviously improved antibacterial performance against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, with an antibacterial rate of 99.8% after visible light irradiation of 80 mW cm-2 for 420 min. The 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite showed the highest photocurrent density, indicating an enhanced separation of photogenerated charge carriers. Electron spin resonance results indicated that the 40In2O3/ZnIn2S4 composite generated both ·O2- and ·OH radicals under visible light, whereas ·OH radicals were almost not detected in ZnIn2S4 alone, suggesting the presence of a Z-scheme heterojunction between In2O3 and ZnIn2S4, thereby enhancing the degradation and antibacterial capabilities of the composite. This offers fresh perspectives on designing effective photocatalytic materials for use in antibacterial and antifouling applications.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the curve of Wilson (COW) and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). METHODS: The study cohort comprised patients aged 19-55 with malocclusion treated at our institution from January to July 2021. They were divided into a malocclusion with TMD group (TMD group) and a malocclusion without TMD group (non-TMB group) based on the diagnostic criteria of TMD. The study outcome was the differences in COW, measured via cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), and statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance and t-test. RESULTS: A total of 250 adult individuals were enrolled, including 162 females (age: 36.43 ± 11.00 years) and 88 males (age: 36.33 ± 9.88 years). Compared with the non-TMB group (n = 125), the TMD group (n = 125) had a significantly greater angle of COW (first molars: P = 0.002; second molars: P < 0.001), higher buccal inclination angle of molars in those with same side temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sounds than those with TMJ sounds (first molar: P = 0.000; second molar: P = 0.006) and greater the side with TMJ sounds (first molar: P < 0.001; second molar: P = 0.016). However, no difference was observed in the buccolingual axial inclination angle of molars between patients with and without TMJ sounds. CONCLUSION: The study reported the differences in malocclusion patients with and without TMB, which could be used as a reference by dentists to improve the treatment outcomes of these patients.

At present, it is urgent for us to develop non-noble metal-based catalysts with abundant reserves and high efficiency towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water electrolysis devices. Herein, cubic NiCo-Prussian blue analogue (PBA)/ flower-like FeNi layered double hydroxide (LDH) heterostructure was facilely in-situ formed on porous nickel foam (NF) via hydrothermal strategy coupled by subsequent sulfurizing treatment (named as S-FeNi LDH@PBA/NF), showing largely facilitated electron transfer over homogeneous counterpart. Also, we investigated the effects of different Fe/Ni feeding ratios on their catalytic properties in some detail. The as-prepared S-FeNi LDH@PBA/NF demonstrated the superior OER activity (e.g. only 243 mV of overpotential required for 50 mA cm-2) and stability. Accordingly, using the catalyst as anode, the home-assembled S-FeNi LDH@PBA/NF//Pt/C/NF electrolyzer exhibited small Tafel slope (83.1 mV dec-1) and ultra-stability, showing the potential feasibility in practical water electrolysis. This strategy provides a hopeful model to enhance the OER performance by effectively constructing advanced catalyst with promising heterostructure and optimal electronic structure.

Two-dimensional (2D) layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) with sufficiently positive valence bands and negative conduction bands are promising materials for producing superoxide radicals (·O2-) and hydroxyl radicals (·OH) for photocatalytic sterilization; however, their relatively wide bandgaps limit the utilization of light in photocatalysis. Herein, the electronegative N-CN nanosheets were used to adsorb Cu2+, Zn2+ and Al3+ cations in situ to form uniformly distributed LDHs nanosheets. Then, the LDHs on LDHs/N-CN composites were partially reduced in situ into ultrafine Cu2O to harvest sufficient solar energy. Zeta potential measurements revealed that the constructed Cu2O/LDHs/N-CN composites and bacterial solution exhibited opposite charges, which induced strong electrostatic adsorption in photocatalytic sterilization. Under visible light, the highly hydrophilic 0D/2D/2D Cu2O/LDHs/N-CN heterojunctions exhibited the highest sterilization rate of 98.96% toward Escherichia coli without an obvious decrease after 4 cycles. It was experimentally and theoretically confirmed that a dual Z-scheme charge migration path in the Cu2O/LDHs/N-CN heterojunction was achieved, harnessing the full synergetic potential of the combined system. This work provides an effective method for synthesizing a robust, hydrophilic and positively charged heterojunction to further improve photocatalytic sterilization activity.

To enhance the overall water splitting efficiency, it is widely attractive yet challenging to develop low price, abundance and efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, Fe,Rh-codoped Ni2P nanosheets arrays were in situ anchored on three-dimension (3D) Ni foam under hydrothermal condition and successive phosphorization, denoted as Fe,Rh-Ni2P/NF for simplicity. The unique nanosheets arrays effectively enriched the active sites with easy accessibility. By virtue of the unique sheet-like arrays and 3D porous conductive substrate, the prepared Fe,Rh-Ni2P/NF showed the low overpotentials of 226 mV at 30 mA cm-2 towards the OER and 73 mV at 10 mA cm-2 for the HER. Moreover, the electrocatalyst effectively worked as anode and cathode for overall water splitting system, showing a small voltage of 1.62 V to drive a current density of 10 mA cm-2. The present work provides alternative option for fabricating advanced catalysts in electrocatalysis and energy devices.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a prevalent psychiatric disorder and sometimes deadly consequence of exposure to severe psychological trauma. However, there has been little known about the definitive molecular changes involved in determining vulnerability to PTSD. In the current study, we used proteomics to quantify protein changes in the hippocampus of foot shocks rats. A total of 6151 proteins were quantified and 97 proteins were significantly differentially expressed. The protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis showed that oxidation-reduction process and glutathione homeostasis may be the potential key progress of being vulnerable to PTSD. The Gene Ontology analysis revealed enriched GO terms in the protein groups of Susceptible group vs Control group rats for glutathione binding,oligopeptide binding,modified amino acid binding,and glutathione transferase activity for their molecular functions (MF) and in the process of cellular response to toxic substance,xenobiotic metabolic process, urea metabolic process, and response to drug for the biological process (BP).SIGNIFICANCE:In recent years, there has been a growing interest in mental illness associated with trauma exposure. We found that stress susceptibility was associated with increased expression of arginase 1 indicated as a potential treatment target. Our results also proposed that carbonic anhydrases 3 could be a biomarker for the development of PTSD. This research helps to explain the potential molecular mechanism in PTSD and supply a new method for ameliorating PTSD.

Developing cost-effectiveness and superior electrocatalysts is crucial to improve the efficiency of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water splitting system. Hence, flower-like phosphorus doped Ni3S2/CoFe2O4 arrays (P-Ni3S2/CoFe2O4/NF) were generated on three-dimensional (3D) nickel foam (NF) via the two-step hydrothermal treatment and subsequent phosphorization. Additionally, a series of control experiments were conducted to investigate the formation mechanism. By virtue of the unique 3D configurations and multi-compositions, the as-prepared catalyst exhibited greatly improved OER performance in 1.0 M KOH solution, with the overpotential of only 254 mV at 50 mA cm-2 and low Tafel slope of 54.43 mV dec-1. This study provides a feasible approach for preparing advanced electrocatalyst in energy conversion and storage devices.

Developing earth-rich and high-efficiency nonprecious metal catalysts is critical but extremely challenging for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, a simple room-temperature sulfuration method was developed for in situ synthesis of walnut kernel-like iron-cobalt-nickel sulfide nanosheets on nickel foam (FeCoNiSx/NF). The unique nanosheets exposed abundant active sites and provided large electrochemically active surface area. The as-built FeCoNiSx/NF exhibited high OER performances with the small overpotentials of 231 and 268 mV to afford 10 and 50 mA cm-2 in 1.0 M KOH, respectively, coupled with a small Tafel slope of 55 mV dec-1. Furthermore, the FeCoNiSx/NF acted as the anode towards overall water electrolysis with acceptable results, where commercial Pt/C dropped on the NF worked as the cathode. This study provides some valuable insights for rational construction of nonprecious electrocatalysts in electrochemical energy technologies.

Exploring high-performance and stable transition metal electrocatalysts is prerequisite for boosting overall water splitting efficiency. In this study, iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) co-doped three-dimensional (3D) Ni3S2 nanoflowers were in situ assembled by many inter-connected 2D nanosheets on nickel foam (NF) via hydrothermal and sulfuration treatment. By virtue of the introduced Fe and Mn elements and unique flower-like structures, the as-prepared catalyst displayed high activity and stability for oxygen evolution reaction (OER), coupled with a small Tafel slope (63.29 mV dec-1) and a low overpotential of 216 mV to reach the current density of 30 mA cm-2. This study would shed some lights for facile synthesis of exceptional OER catalyst by tailoring the electronic structure and doping transition metal(s).

Developing highly active and durable catalyst is of pivotal importance in fuel cells, owing to excessive consumption of fossil fuels. Herein, porous dendritic PtRuPd nanospheres (PtRuPd NSs) were synthesized by a facile hexadecylpyridinium chloride (HDPC)-mediated one-pot aqueous method with ascorbic acid (AA) as the reducing agent. The as-obtained PtRuPd NSs displayed high-efficient catalytic activity and durability for ethylene glycol oxidation reaction (EGOR) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). It exhibited enlarged mass activity (MA, 1.368 A mg-1) compared to commercial Pt/C (1.100 A mg-1) for EGOR. Besides, the onset potential (Eonset, 0.930 V) and half-wave potential (E1/2, 0.852 V) of PtRuPd NSs were more positive relative to homemade PtPd NSs (0.905 and 0.840 V), PdRu NSs (0.895 and 0.839 V), and commercial Pt/C (0.910 and 0.822 V) toward ORR. This work provides some valuable guidelines for producing novel trimetallic nanocatalysts in fuel cells.

Exploring advanced nanocatalysts are of importance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline electrolyte (e.g. 1.0 M KOH). Herein, porous iridium-palladium-plumbum wire-like nanonetworks (IrPdPb WNNs) were prepared by a facile one-pot aqueous method with octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol (NP-40) as the structure-director. The resultant IrPdPb WNNs exhibited superior HER performance in the alkaline electrolyte, such as ultra-low overpotential (21 mV) to drive a current density of 10 mA cm-2, small Tafel slope (66 mV dec-1), and high exchange current density (4.87 mA cm-2), surpassing commercial Pt/C. This study provides a simple strategy for synthesis of advanced multi-metallic electrocatalysts in energy storage and conversion.

INTRODUCTION: Unstable angina (UA), referred to as acute coronary syndrome (ACS), causes unexpected chest pain. Xueshuantong injection (lyophilised) (XST) is a traditional Chinese herbal injection having the potential to treat ACS. However, no clinical trial has been performed in this field. This clinical trial aims to examine the efficacy and safety of XST. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is a randomised, parallel-arm, controlled, double-blind and multicentre clinical trial. A total of 1200 participants with UA will be enrolled in a 1:1 ratio, with 600 patients included in the XST treatment group and 600 with 1/20th dose in the control group. The efficacy assessment and major adverse cardiovascular events will be observed, and the frequency of angina attack, angina pectoris will be examined at the start and end of the run-in period. All adverse events will be recorded, regardless of the severity, to assess the safety of XST. The baseline characteristics of patients will be summarised and compared using the t test or non-parametric statistical test. Qualitative data will be analysed using the χ2 or Fisher exact tests, Cochran-Mantel-Hasenszel test and Wilcoxon test. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This trial has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, China (approval number: ZYYEC [2017] 0021). Written informed consent will be obtained from all participants. The results of this trial will be disseminated to the public through academic conferences and peer-reviewed journals. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered on the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (http://www.chictr.org.cn/) with the ID ChiCTR1800015911.
