[Occupational hygiene in production and use of multicomponent metal compounds]. / Gigiena truda pri poluchenii i primenenii mnogokompozitsionnykh soedinenii metallow.

The article deals with results obtained in hygienic evaluation of production and application of new monocrystalline compounds based on cesium, sodium, iodine, lead, scandium, fluorine. The evaluation covered work conditions and health state of those engaged into production of monocrystalline compounds, revealed the main occupational hazards. The experiments determined fundamental toxicometric parameters, studied characteristics of general toxic and specific effects induced by lead fluoride and cesium iodine. The results formed basis for sanitary measures, establishment of MACs for 4 monocrystalline compounds in the air of workplace.

Effect of lead fluoride dust on the micronuclear reticulocyte content in the bone marrow was shown. Some functional changes in the testicles and increase in the fetal death rate in exposure to 50 mg/m3 of lead fluoride dust were noted.

[Occupational health in the manufacturing of lithium, niobium and tantalum-based monocrystals]. / Gigiena truda v proizvodstve monokristallov na osnove litiia, niobiia, tantala.

The article contains a complex hygienic assessment of the technological processes, labour conditions and equipment in processing and use of lithium, niobium and tantalum based monocrystals. Major hazardous factors were established with a set of preventive measures elaborated.

[Photometric analysis of sodium and cesium iodides in the air of the work area]. / Fotometricheskoe opredelenie iodidov natriia i tseziia v vozdukhe rabochei zony.

The contributors propose a photometric technique for detecting sodium and caesium iodides in the working zone air. The technique is based on the oxidation of I-ions with bromine water, interacting of the educed iodine and redundant potassium iodide with concomitant formation of complex I3- ions, followed by 350-365 mm photometric measurements of the product. Air sample taking is performed by condensating on AFA--VP filtres. The lower limit of I-ions content measurements is 5 micrograms. The measurement range for sodium and caesium iodides is 0.2-50 mg/m3. Data is provided for the reproduction of the technique which can be used both in special laboratory and industrial conditions.

[The use of diagnostic and therapeutic colonofibroscopy in children]. / Primenenie diagnosticheskoi i lechebnoi kolonofibroskopii u detei.

The results of investigation of the large intestine in 187 children were analysed. Of them, in 28 the terminal ileum was as well examined. In 38 patients with polyps and intestinal invagination, colonoscopy was performed in combination with endoscopy. Colonofibroscopy was used as a primary method of study to establish the causes of intestinal hemorrhage, colitis syndrome. The method has a high informative value, permits to extend the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities in pediatric proctology.
