RESUMO

Photocatalytic degradation technology has developed rapidly in the treatment of organic pollutants due to its high efficiency, mild reaction conditions and easy control. In this paper, a series of heterogeneous photocatalysts, BWZ-en-R (BWZ = [BW11Z(H2O)O39]7-, Z = Zn, Cd, Mn, en = ethylenediamine, R = Merrifield resin), were prepared by using ethanediamine as a linker to immobilize Keggin-type transition elements substituting tungstoborates on Merrifield resin and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The photocatalytic properties of BWZ-en-R (Z = Zn, Cd, Mn) for the degradation of methyl red (MR) were investigated. The results show that the BWZ-en-R (Z = Zn, Cd, Mn) photocatalysts exhibited high photodegradation ability for MR under the irradiation of ultraviolet light, and were easily separated from the reaction media. The maximum degradation rate (%) of MR (40 mL, 25 µM, pH = 2) reached 96.4% for the BWMn-en-R photocatalyst (40 mg) after being irradiated for 30 min, making this a promising photocatalyst candidate for dye degradation. Moreover, the influences of some factors, such as the Z-substituted elements in the BWZ, the BWZ-en-R dosage and the MR initial concentration, on the photocatalytic degradation rate of MR were also examined.

RESUMO

By introducing Brønsted acidic ionic liquids (ILs), two dual-emitting lanthanide metal-organic complexes (Ln-MOCs) of {[Ln(imdc)(CH3OH)(H2O)3]Cl2}n (LnIMDC, Ln = Eu and Tb, imdc = 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)imidazolium ion) were first prepared under solvothermal conditions. The crystal structures of LnIMDC were measured by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and the crystal growth process of LnIMDC was carefully studied. It is found that the crystals are three-dimensional supramolecular structures built up by Ln-O coordination bonds and supramolecular forces. In the temperature range of 303-403 K, LnIMDC show good temperature-dependent emission properties with maximum relative thermal sensitivities of 3.29% K-1 at 375 K and 2.08% K-1 at 303 K for EuIMDC and TbIMDC, respectively. It is worth mentioning that both EuIMDC and TbIMDC exhibit good linear ratiometric emission-temperature response in temperature ranges of 353-403 and 323-373 K, respectively, which render EuIMDC and TbIMDC good ratiometric thermometers in high temperature range. Computational studies on the energy level of ILs [H2imdc]Cl and [imdc]- ion were performed, which validated the high energy transfer efficiency between the [imdc]- and Ln3+ ions and the unique solution concentration- and wavelength-dependent fluorescence properties of [H2imdc]Cl. The high fluorescence performance opens up new opportunities for practical applications of ILs in optical sensing.

RESUMO

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on acute liver injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)/D-galactosamine (D-Gal) and the underlying mechanism. Male BALB/c mice were intraperitoneally injected with LPS/D-Gal to induce acute liver injury model, and pretreated with DEX or in combination with the autophagy inhibitor, 3-methyladenine (3-MA) 30 min before injection. Serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, as well as myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity in liver tissue were determined with the corresponding kits. Serum tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were determined by ELISA. The protein expression levels of LC3-II and P62 in liver tissue were determined by Western blot. Liver histopathological changes were detected by HE staining. The results showed that, compared with control group, LPS/D-Gal enhanced ALT and AST activity, increased TNF-α and IL-6 levels, as well as MPO activity, up-regulated LC3-II and P62 protein expression levels, and significantly induced pathological damage in liver tissue. DEX reversed the above changes in the LPS/D-Gal group, whereas these protective effects of DEX were blocked by 3-MA. The above results suggest that DEX alleviates LPS/D-Gal-induced acute liver injury, which may be associated with the up-regulation of LC3-II protein expression and the activation of autophagy.

RESUMO

The innervation of the pelvic wall muscles is not very clear. This study aimed to reveal the division of neuromuscular compartments and localize the surface position and depth of the center of the intramuscular nerve-dense region (CINDR) of the pelvic wall muscles based on Sihler's staining. Twenty-four adult cadavers were used. To localize the CINDR of the pelvic wall muscles, horizontal (H) and longitudinal (L) reference lines were drawn, and Sihler's staining was used to reveal the intramuscular nerve distribution. The CINDR projection points (P and P' points) behind and in front of the body surface, the positions of the P points projected onto the H and L lines (PH and PL points), and the depth of CINDR were determined by spiral computed tomography scanning. The piriformis and obturator internus muscles can be divided into two and three neuromuscular compartments, respectively. The PH of CINDR of the piriformis muscle was located at 22.61 ± 2.66% of the H line, the PL was at 28.53 ± 6.08% of the L line, and the puncture depth of the piriformis muscle was at 24.64 ± 2.16% of the PP' line. The PH of CINDR of the obturator internus muscle was at 16.49 ± 1.20% of the H line, the PL was at 10.94 ± 1.09% of its L line, and the puncture depth was 6.26 ± 0.38 cm. These findings may guide the design of the compartmentalized transplantation of the pelvic wall muscles and improve the target localization efficiency and efficacy for injecting botulinum toxin A to treat pelvic wall muscle spasm.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: An emerging service delivery model of integrating health and social care for older people has been actively promoted by the Chinese government since 2016, but the client experience and influencing mechanism still remain unclear. METHODS: this study adopts a qualitative methodology to delve deeper into the factors and mechanism shaping the client experience of residential integrated health and social care for older people in the Chinese context, so as to understand the experiences of older residents during the whole process of receiving integrated care services, and on this basis, put forward suggestions for the improvement of a high-quality aged care service system. We coded and analyzed the in-depth interview data of twenty older adults and six staff members from June 2019 to February 2020, recruited from six institutions in Changsha, one of the ninety pilot cities for integrated health and social care in China. RESULTS: the findings showed that the client experience of older adults is mainly affected by factors in three dimensions (scene construction, individual minds, and interaction and communication), which are comprised of six sub-categories (social foundation, institutional functions, perception and emotion, cognition and understanding, intimacy and trust, and participation). Based on the factors and mechanism (consisting of six influencing paths), we constructed a model of the client experience of integrated health and social care for older people in the Chinese population. CONCLUSIONS: the factors and mechanism influencing the client experience of integrated health and social care for older people are complex and multifaceted. Attention should be paid to the direct effects of perception and emotion, institutional functions, intimacy and trust in the client experience, and the indirect effects of social foundation and participation on the client experience.

RESUMO

The Angiotensin II/transforming growth factor-ß1 (AngII/TGF-ß1) signal axis is an important regulatory pathway for atrial fibrosis, which can contribute to atrial fibrillation (AF). Fused in sarcoma (FUS) was recently found to regulate cardiac diseases. This study aimed to investigate whether FUS could regulate AngII induced fibrosis and uncover the possible mechanisms. The expression of FUS in AF patients and AngII-induced cardiac fibroblasts was measured by RT-qPCR and western blot assays. Fus was silenced in cells using short hairpin RNA (shRNA), then cell proliferation, migration, collagen synthesis and TGF-ß1/Smad signaling were detected by CCK-8, wound healing and western blot assays, respectively. The possible target for Fus was predicted by searching Starbase database and verified by RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP) and RNA pull down. Cells were overexpressed with Pax3 in the presence of Fus silence and AngII stimulation, then the above cellular processes were further evaluated. Results showed that FUS was upregulated in AF patients and AngII-induced cardiac fibroblasts. Fus knockdown inhibited AngII-enhanced cell proliferation, migration, collagen synthesis and TGF-ß1/Smad signaling activation. Furthermore, Fus functions as an RNA-binding protein to bind to Pax3 mRNA and positively regulate its expression. Further studies demonstrated that Pax3 overexpression canceled the above effects of Fus knockdown on cell proliferation, migration, collagen synthesis, and TGF-ß1/Smad signaling activation in AngII-induced cells. In conclusion, Fus could target Pax3 to increase the pro-fibrotic effect of AngII in cardiac fibroblasts via activating TGF-ß1/Smad signaling. Knockdown of Fus/Pax3 axis may provide a potential therapy for relieving AF.

RESUMO

SUMMARY: This study aimed to accurately localize the location and depth of the centre of the highest region of muscle spindle abundance (CHRMSA) of the triceps brachii muscle. Twenty-four adult cadavers were placed in the prone position. The curve connecting the acromion and lateral epicondyle of the humerus close to the skin was designed as the longitudinal reference line (L), and the curve connecting the lateral and the medial epicondyle of the humerus was designed as the horizontal reference line (H). Sihler's staining was used to visualize the dense intramuscular nerve region of the triceps brachii muscle. The abundance of muscle spindle was calculated after hematoxylin and eosin stain. CHRMSA was labelled by barium sulphate, and spiral computed tomography scanning and three- dimensional reconstruction were performed. Using the Syngo system, the projection points of CHRMSA on the posterior and anterior arm surface (P and P' points), the position of P points projected to the L and H lines (PL and PH points), and the depth of CHRMSA were determined. The PL of the CHRMSA of the long, medial, and lateral heads of the triceps brachii muscle were located at 34.83 %, 75.63 %, and 63.93 % of the L line, respectively, and the PH was located at 63.46 %, 69.62 %, and 56.07 % of the H line, respectively. In addition, the depth was located at 34.73 %, 35.48 %, and 35.85 % of the PP' line, respectively. These percentage values are all the means. These body surface locations and depths are suggested to be the optimal blocking targets for botulinum toxin A in the treatment of triceps brachii muscle spasticity.

Increasing evidence suggests that the widely used antidiabetic drug metformin have an extensive therapeutic range beyond hypoglycemic therapy. We previously found that metformin significantly attenuated acute hepatitis. The present study investigated the potential effects of metformin on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver fibrosis in mice. The results indicated that treatment with metformin suppressed CCl4-induced elevation of liver index, formation of fibrotic septa, accumulation of connective tissue and upregulation of collagen I. These effects were not associated with increase of the antioxidative transcription factor nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) or its downstream targets, heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) and NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1). However, treatment with metformin suppressed CCl4-induced expression of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-ß1) and phosphorylation of Smad3, which was accompanied with decreased level of alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), a marker for the activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). These data indicates that metformin could mitigate CCl4-induced liver fibrosis and these beneficial effects might result from suppressed TGF-ß1/Smad3 signaling.
