Advances in sequencing technologies have led to the rapid growth of multi-omics data on rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, a comprehensive database that systematically collects and classifies the scattered data is still lacking. Here, we developed the Rheumatoid Arthritis Bioinformatics Center (RABC, http://www.onethird-lab.com/RABC/), the first multi-omics data resource platform (data hub) for RA. There are four categories of data in RABC: (i) 175 multi-omics sample sets covering transcriptome, epigenome, genome, and proteome; (ii) 175 209 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 105 differentially expressed microRNAs (DEMs), 18 464 differentially DNA methylated (DNAm) genes, 1 764 KEGG pathways, 30 488 GO terms, 74 334 SNPs, 242 779 eQTLs, 105 m6A-SNPs and 18 491 669 meta-mQTLs; (iii) prior knowledge on seven types of RA molecular markers from nine public and credible databases; (iv) 127 073 literature information from PubMed (from 1972 to March 2022). RABC provides a user-friendly interface for browsing, searching and downloading these data. In addition, a visualization module also supports users to generate graphs of analysis results by inputting personalized parameters. We believe that RABC will become a valuable resource and make a significant contribution to the study of RA.

Changes in the structure of RNA and protein, have an important impact on biological functions and are even important determinants of disease pathogenesis and treatment. Some genetic variations, including copy number variation, single nucleotide variation, and so on, can lead to changes in biological function and increased susceptibility to certain diseases by changing the structure of RNA or protein. With the development of structural biology and sequencing technology, a large amount of RNA and protein structure data and genetic variation data resources has emerged to be used to explain biological processes. Here, we reviewed the effects of genetic variation on the structure of RNAs and proteins, and investigated their impact on several diseases. An online resource (http://www.onethird-lab.com/gems/) to support convenient retrieval of common tools is also built. Finally, the challenges and future development of the effects of genetic variation on RNA and protein were discussed.

Nanographene C222, which consists of a planar graphenic plane containing 222 carbon atoms, holds the record as the largest planar nanographene synthesized to date. However, its complete insolubility makes the processing of C222 difficult. Here we addressed this issue by introducing peripheral substituents perpendicular to the graphene plane, effectively disrupting the interlayer stacking and endowing C222 with good solubility. We also found that the electron-withdrawing substituents played a crucial role in the cyclodehydrogenation process, converting the dendritic polyphenylene precursor to C222. After disrupting the interlayer stacking, the introduction of only a few peripheral carboxylic groups allowed C222 to dissolve in phosphate buffer saline, reaching a concentration of up to 0.5 mg/mL. Taking advantage of the good photosensitizing and photothermal properties of the inner C222 core, the resulting water-soluble C222 emerged as a single-component agent for both photothermal and photodynamic tumor therapy, exhibiting an impressive tumor inhibition rate of 96%.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary brain malignancy. Studies have shown that autophagy-related (ATG) genes play important roles in regulating GBM malignancy. However, the mechanism still needs to be fully elucidated. Based on clinical and gene expression information of GBM patients downloaded from The The Cancer Genome Atlas database, Kaplan-Meier, univariate Cox regression, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and multivariate Cox regression were applied to construct a risk signature for GBM prognosis, followed by validation using receiver operating characteristic analysis. Next, Cell Counting Kit-8, wound healing assay, flow cytometry, monodansyl cadaverine autophagy staining assay, immunofluorescence staining and western blot, either in the absence or presence of ERBB2/AKT/mTOR inhibitors, were carried out in GBM U87 cell line to explore molecular pathway underlying GBM malignancy. A three-ATG-gene signature (HIF1A, ITGA3, and NGR1) was constructed for GBM prognosis with the greatest contribution from NRG1. In vitro experiments showed that NRG1 promoted U87 cell migration and proliferation by inhibiting autophagy, and ERBB2/AKT/mTOR is a downstream pathway that mediates the autophagy-inhibitory effects of NRG1. We constructed an ATG gene prognostic model for GBM and demonstrated that NRG1 inhibited autophagy by activating ERBB2/AKT/mTOR, promoting GBM malignancy, thus providing new insights into the molecular contribution of autophagy in GBM malignancy.

The aim of this study was to compare nonrandom associations between physically adjacent single methylation polymorphism loci among rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and normal subjects for investigating RA-risk methylation haplotypes (meplotype). With 354 ACPA-positive RA patients and 335 normal controls selected from a case-control study based on Swedish population, we conducted the first RA epigenome-wide meplotype association study using our software EWAS2.0, mainly including (i) converted the ß value to methylation genotype (menotype) data, (ii) identified methylation disequilibrium (MD) block, (iii) calculated frequent of each meplotypes in MD block and performed case-control association test and (iv) screened for RA-risk meplotypes by odd ratio (OR) and p-values. Ultimately, 545 meplotypes on 334 MD blocks were identified significantly associated with RA (p-value < .05). These meplotypes were mapped to 329 candidate genes related to RA. Subsequently, combined with gene optimization, eight RA-risk meplotypes were identified on three risk genes: HLA-DRB1, HLA-DRB5 and HLA-DQB1. Our results reported the relationship between DNA methylation pattern on HLA-DQB1 and the risk of RA for the first time, demonstrating the co-demethylation of 'cg22984282' and 'cg13423887' on HLA-DQB1 gene (meplotype UU, p-value = 2.90E - 6, OR = 1.68, 95% CI = [1.35, 2.10]) may increase the risk of RA. Our results demonstrates the potential of methylation haplotype analysis to identify RA-related genes from a new perspective and its applicability to the study of other disease.

BACKGROUND: We present six patients who developed Candida keratitis postoperatively. The clinical features, diagnostic testing including in vivo confocal microscopy, and outcomes are presented. METHODS: Six patients who developed Candida keratitis following penetrating and endothelial keratoplasty, were referred to Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital between 2018 to 2021.The diagnosis was established following cultures of either corneal scraping or biopsy. In vivo confocal microscopy examination was also performed to confirm the diagnosis and characterize the morphology, distribution and the depth of Candida spp. All patients were treated with topical voriconazole (VCZ) 1% and natamycin (NTM) 5%. Patients with mid/deep stromal keratitis or interface infection were treated additionally with intrastromal or interface VCZ irrigation (0.05 mg/0.1mL). RESULTS: The cultures of corneal scrapings (4 cases) or biopsies (2 cases) were all positive for Candida spp. In vivo confocal microscopy examination was positive for fungal elements in five of the six patients. The infection resolved in five of the six patients. The patients' final uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) ranged from hand movements (HM) to 20/80. CONCLUSION: In vivo confocal microscopy is a useful non-invasive clinical technique for confirming the diagnosis of Candida keratitis. Intrastromal and interface irrigated VCZ injections are effective treatment options.

BACKGROUND: Phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) has been increasingly used to treat severe recurrent corneal erosion syndrome (RCES) patients who do not respond to other treatments. However, the efficacy and complication of each study are currently uncertain due to varying rates. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of the PTK for recurrent corneal erosions. METHODS: This article performed a systematic literature research in Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and the Web of Science for the literature on PTK treatment of RCES until December 20, 2022. The extracted data including recurrence rate and the adverse event rate were used for meta-analysis. RESULTS: The recurrence rate was 18% (95% CI, 13%-24%) (129/700 eyes). Subgroup analysis showed that the RCE recurrence was 17% (95% CI, 9%-24%) after trauma and 22% (95% CI, 11%-32%) in the corneal dystrophy group. Treatment-related adverse events included subepithelial haze, hyperopic shift, and decrease of the best spectacle-corrected visual acuity. In this study, the incidence of these events was 13% (95% CI, 6%-21%), 20% (95% CI, 11%-28%), and 11% (95% CI, 5%-16%), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: PTK represented a valuable treatment option for patients with recurrent corneal erosions, especially those with traumatic injuries, which had minimal side effects.

The rational design of high-performance and cost-effective electrocatalysts to overcome the kinetically sluggish water oxidation reaction is a grand challenge in water electrolysis. Transitional metals with incompletely filled d orbitals are expected to have intrinsic electronic interaction to promote the reaction kinetics, however, the construction of multiple active sites is still a bottleneck problem. Here, inspired by an amorphous alloy design strategy with chemical tunability, a noble-metal-free FeCoMoPB amorphous nanoplate for superior alkaline water oxidation is developed. The achieved overpotentials at current densities of 10, 100, and 500 mA cm-2 are 239, 281, and 331 mV, respectively, while retaining a reliable stability of 48 h, outperforming most currently available electrocatalysts. Experimental and theoretical results reveal that the chemical complexity of the amorphous nanoplate leads to the formation of multiple active sites that is able to greatly lower the free energy of the rate-determining step during the water oxidation reaction. Moreover, the Mo element would result in an electron delocalization behavior to promote electron redistribution at its surrounding regions for readily donating and taking electrons. This amorphous alloy design strategy is expected to stimulate the development of more efficient electrocatalysts that is applicable in energy devices, such as metal-air batteries, fuel cells, and water electrolysis.

BACKGROUND: With the global pandemic of obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the incidence of cirrhosis associated with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) has greatly increased. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bariatric surgery in obese cirrhotic patients. METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library were searched for relevant studies. Effectiveness outcomes were weight loss, remission of comorbidities, and improvement in liver function. Safety outcomes were procedural complications and mortality. RESULTS: A total of 15 studies were included in this meta-analysis. Patients with compensated cirrhosis lost weight significantly after surgery, and the percentage of excess weight loss was 60.44 (95% CI, 44.34 to 76.55). Bariatric surgery resulted in remission of NAFLD in 57.9% (95% CI, 27.5% to 88.3%), T2DM in 58.4% (95% CI, 48.4% to 68.4%), hypertension in 53.1% (95% CI, 43% to 63.3%), dyslipidemia in 59.8% (95% CI, 41.1% to 78.5%) of patients with cirrhosis. Bariatric surgery reduced the levels of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase. The incidence of surgical complications in patients with cirrhosis was about 19.2% (95% CI, 11.7% to 26.6%), which was higher than that in patients without cirrhosis (OR 2.67 [95% CI, 1.26 to 5.67]). Patients with cirrhosis had an overall mortality rate of 1.3%, and the mortality rates for compensated cirrhosis and decompensated cirrhosis were 0.9% and 18.2%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Bariatric surgery is effective for weight loss, remission of comorbidities, and reversal of liver damage. Although cirrhotic patients have a higher risk of complications and death, bariatric surgery is relatively safe for well-compensated cirrhosis.

BACKGROUND: Implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery techniques are constantly progressing. The purpose of this study was to investigate the application effect of the modified technique and its impact on the change in corneal astigmatism in EVO-ICL surgery. METHODS: The analysis of retrospective cohort data included 153 eyes of 81 patients with myopia from July 2018 to May 2020. An EVO-ICL was inserted by modified surgical skills, including a single 3.0 mm corneal incision and no ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) before the insertion of the ICL (modified technique group: 41 cases, 80 eyes) and standard procedure (standard technique group: 40 cases, 73 eyes). Early postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was monitored at 2 and 24 h. IOP, corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), vault, and anterior chamber depth (ACD) were measured 1, 6, and 12 months following the initial examination. The corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) was monitored at 6 and 12 months after the operation. Surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) in the total, anterior, and posterior corneal surfaces was analysed 1 month after the operation. RESULTS: No serious complications were detected. The two groups had no difference in visual outcomes, ICL vaults, or ACD at any time point (P > 0.05). Two hours postoperatively, IOP was significantly lower in the modified technique group (16.22 ± 2.22 vs. 18.37 ± 1.92 mmHg, P < 0.05) than in the standard technique group. IOP decreased gradually after 24 h to preoperative levels. The postoperative IOP remained stable over a 12-month period. The ECD at 6 and 12 months was not significantly different between the groups (P > 0.05). SIA in the total, anterior, and posterior corneal surfaces were assumed to have no clinically meaningful differences between groups at one month after operation (P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The modified technique is efficient and safe, producing comparable visual and structural outcomes without adversely affecting ECD, and reduces fluctuations in IOP at the early postoperative stages. The auxiliary incision in the standard technique does not increase corneal SIA, which is also a factor to consider for inexperienced surgeons.

Treatment for lower-grade gliomas (LGG) has been challenging. Though emerging approaches such as immunotherapy is promising, it is still faced with immune tolerance, an obstacle that may be overcome by targeting autophagy-related (ATG) genes. After identifying three differentially expressed ATG genes (RIPK2, MUL1 and CXCR4), we constructed an ATG gene risk signature by Kaplan-Meier, univariate Cox regression, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and multivariate Cox regression, followed by internal and external validation using K-M and ROC analysis. Since gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) suggested that the signature was strongly associated with immune cell functions, CIBERSORT, LM22 matrix and Pearson correlation were further performed, showing that the risk signature was significantly correlated with immune cell infiltration and immune checkpoint genes. In conclusion, we identified and independently validated an ATG gene risk signature for LGG patients, as well as discovering its significant association with LGG immune microenvironment.

Astaxanthin loaded Pickering emulsion with zein/sodium alginate (SA) as a stabilizer (named as APEs) was developed, and its structure and stability were characterized. The encapsulation efficiency of astaxanthin (Asta) in APEs was up to 86.7 ± 3.8%, with a mean particle size of 4.763 µm. Freeze-dried APEs showed particles stacked together under scanning electronic microscope; whereas dispersed spherical nanoparticles were observed in APEs dilution under transmission electron microscope images. Confocal laser scanning microscope images indicated that zein particles loaded with Asta were aggregated with SA coating. X-ray diffraction patterns and Fourier transform infrared spectra results showed that intermolecular hydrogen bonding, electrostatic attraction and hydrophobic effect were involved in APEs formation. APEs demonstrated non-Newtonian shear-thinning behavior and fit well to the Cross model. Compared to bare Asta extract, APEs maintained high Asta retention and antioxidant activity when heated from 50 to 10 °C. APEs showed different stability at pH (3.0-11.0) and Na+, K+, Ca2+, Cu2+ and Fe2+ conditions by visual, zeta potential and polydispersity index measurements. Additionally, the first order kinetics fit well to describe APEs degradation at pH 3.0 to 9.0, Na+, and K+ conditions. Our results suggest the potential application of Asta-loaded Pickering emulsion in food systems as a fortified additive.

The intrinsic chemical components and sensory characteristics of Gardeniae fructus Praeparatus (GFP) directly reflect its quality and subsequently, affect its clinical curative effect. However, there is little research on the correlation between the appearance traits and chemical compositions of GFP during heat processing. In this study, the major components of five typical processed decoction pieces of GFP were determined. With the deepening of processing, the contents of geniposidic acid and 5-HMF gradually increased, while the contents of deacetyl-asperulosidic acid methyl ester, gardenoside, and two pigments declined. Moreover, the electronic eye, electronic tongue, and electronic nose were applied to quantify GFP's sensory properties. It was found that the chroma values showed a downward trend during the processing of GFP. The results of odor showed that ammonia, alkenes, hydrogen, and aromatic compounds were the material base for aroma characteristics. Complex bitterness in GF was more obvious than that in other GFP processed products. Furthermore, one mathematical model was established to evaluate the correlation between the sensory characteristics and chemical composition of GFP during five different stages. A cluster analysis and neural network analysis contributed to recognizing the processing stage of GFP. This study provided an alternative method for the exterior and interior correlation-based quality evaluation of herbs.

BACKGROUND: Saponification contributed to an increase in the in vitro antioxidant activity of astaxanthin (Asta) extracts derived from Penaeus sinensis (Solenocera crassicornis) by-products. However, the influence of non-saponification (N-Asta) and saponification Asta (S-Asta) absorption on antioxidant activity in vivo was limited. The antioxidant properties of N-Asta and S-Asta were therefore compared in Sprague Dawley male rats after 6 h and 12 of absorption using biochemistry assays combined with an untargeted metabonomics strategy. RESULTS: Non-saponified Asta and S-Asta showed similar digestive properties in a stimulated gastrointestinal tract. Increased glutathione content and decreased malondialdehyde content were measured in the liver tissues of N-Asta and S-Asta treated rats after 12 h of absorption. Absorption of N-Asta increased liver total superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase activity. Treatment with S-Asta up-regulated NAD(P)H: quinine oxidoreductase-1, and heme oxygenase-1 expression was associated with the nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2/antioxidant responsive element pathway at the end of 12 h absorption. With partial least square-discriminant analysis and metabolite heatmap profiles, the S-Asta group was clearly separated from the N-Asta group. The S-Asta treatment also demonstrated stronger influences on plasma metabolites than the N-Asta treatment. Both N-Asta and S-Asta absorption showed critical roles in the regulation of specific metabolites, and 15 potential biomarkers were identified in eight key pathways to separate these experimental groups after 12 h of absorption. However, an increased serotonin level was only detected in the S-Asta group after 12 h absorption. CONCLUSION: Absorption of N-Asta and S-Asta induced different antioxidant effects in normal rats, which were associated with metabolite changes. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

Lonicerae Japonicae Flos(LJF), a bulk medicinal material, has long been used in clinical settings. The main/Dao-di production areas are Shandong, Henan, and Hebei. However, no systematic study on the difference in volatile components of LJF from different areas is available at the moment. In this study, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) was used to detect the volatile components in 30 batches of LJF from 3 main production areas. Based on the relative odor activity value(ROAV), the key aroma components were analyzed. Multivariate statistical analysis was performed to analyze the differential components and characteristic aroma components in the samples from the 3 areas. Finally, 113 volatiles were identified from the samples, which were mainly alcohols, esters, acids, aldehydes, ketones, and alkenes. Among the common components of the three areas, linalool, myristic acid, and α-linolenic acid methyl ester had high content. A total of 15 key and 9 modifying aroma components in LJF were determined based on ROAV. The 15 differential components can be used for origin identification. Among them,(E, E)-2,4-decadienal and hexanal contributed a lot to the aroma of LJF from Henan and α-nerol was a characteristic aroma component of LJF in Hebei. In addition, lauryl aldehyde was a biomarker of LJF from Shandong. This study can provide a reference for the origin identification and quality evaluation of LJF.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The few systematic reviews that have compared surgical resection (SR) with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) indicated that hepatectomy was superior to RFA in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) irrespective of overall survival (OS) or disease-free survival (DFS). However, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are scarce; therefore, there is a lack of robust evidence on the optimal first-line treatment for HCC patients. The purpose of this study was to include all current RCT studies to compare the clinical efficacy between RFA and SR in patients with HCC who meet the Milan criteria using meta-analysis techniques. METHODS: We conducted thorough searches of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Knowledge, FDA.gov, and ClinicalTrials.gov for comparative studies (published between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2019; no language restrictions) of RFA and SR. The main endpoints were OS, DFS, and postoperative complications. Only randomized clinical trials were included. The odds ratios (OR) were pooled and calculated with 95% confidence intervals (CI) for both fixed effects and random effects models. RESULTS: Eight studies comparing RFA and SR were identified, which included 1177 patients treated with RFA (n = 571) or SR (n = 606). The OR values for patients treated with RFA and SR at 1, 3, and 5 years were OR: 0.91, 95% CI: 0.45-1.38; OR: 0.82, 95% CI: 0.56-1.19; and OR: 1.03, 95% CI: 0.61-1.73, respectively. The OS between the two treatments was not significantly different. The 1-year DFS rates resulting from the two treatments were not statistically different (OR: 0.87, 95% CI: 0.63-1.21). Similarly, according to long-term DFS rates for SR compared with RFA, although the OR value was less than 1, there was no statistical significance (OR: 0.79, 95% CI: 0.58-1.07). However, it is worth noting that RFA has advantages over SR in terms of treatment-related complications (OR: 0.65, 95% CI: 0.44-0.80; P < 0.05), postoperative mortality, length of stay, and hospitalization costs. CONCLUSION: For patients with HCC who meet the Milan criteria, RFA exhibited similar clinical efficacy to SR. However, RFA was superior to SR in terms of minor trauma and may be recommended as the first choice for tumors ≤ 4 cm in diameter.

Light emission from the gap of a scanning tunneling microscope can be used to investigate many optoelectronic processes at the single-molecule level and to gain insight into the fundamental photophysical mechanisms involved. One important issue is how to improve the quantum efficiency of quantum emitters in the nanometer-sized metallic gap so that molecule-specific emission can be clearly observed. Here, using electromagnetic simulations, we systematically investigate the influence of an atomic-scale protrusion at the tip apex on the emission properties of a point dipole in the plasmonic nanocavity. We found that such an atomistic protrusion can induce strong and spatially highly confined electric fields, thus increasing the quantum efficiency of molecular fluorescence over two orders of magnitude even when its dipole is oriented parallel to the metal surface, a situation occurring in most realistic single-molecule electroluminescence experiments. In addition, our theoretical simulations indicate that due to the lightning rod effect induced by the protrusion in a plasmonic nanocavity, the quantum efficiency increases monotonically as the tip approaches the dipole to the point of contact, instead of being quenched, thus explaining previous experimental observations with ever-enhancing fluorescence. Furthermore, we also examine in detail how the protrusion radius, height, and material affect the protrusion-induced emission enhancement. These results are believed to be instructive for further studies on the optoelectronic properties of single molecules in tip-based plasmonic nanocavities.

Understanding the physical structure of greases can provide critical insight into improving the lubricating performance of a grease. Observation of the grease structure can be quite difficult depending on the type of grease and the length scale of the structure. Polyurea greases in previous reports have typically been examined by removal of the oil phase, which significantly changes the polyurea structure. This paper examines the effect of sample preparation conditions on the microstructure of polyurea greases. This study reveals new structures in the polyurea that have not been observed in the previous literature, including entangled fibers and nanotubes. Correlation is found between the observed polyurea microstructure coverage and grease stiffness.

Gliomas account for 75% of the primary malignant brain tumors and a majority of lower-grade gliomas (LGG) inevitably develop into glioblastoma. The dysregulation of lncRNAs play a crucial role in LGG. In the present study, we first screened out six differentially expressed lncRNAs (AC021739.2, AL031722.1, AL354740.1, FGD5-AS1, LINC00844, and NEAT1) based on TCGA and GTEx RNA-seq databases. LncRNA prognostic signature was then established by Kaplan-Meier and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression, with its predictive value validated by time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. After lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory networks were established by Cytoscape 3.7.2, Gene Oncology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed, with results enriched in various malignancy-related functions and pathways. Finally, six putative drugs (irinotecan, camptothecin, mitoxantrone, azacitidine, mestranol, and enilconazole) were predicted by Connectivity Map. In conclusion, we identified a 6-lncRNA prognostic signature with its ceRNA networks, and six candidate drugs against LGG.

With the increasing incidence of hepatobiliary diseases, it is particularly important to understand the role of molecular, cellular and physiological factors in the clinical diagnosis and treatment with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in the development of liver disease. Appropriate animal models can help us identify the possible mechanisms of relevant diseases. Danio rerio(zebrafish) model was traditionally used to study embryonic development, and has been gradually used in screening and evaluation of liver diseases and relevant drug in recent years. Zebrafish embryos develop rapidly and the digestive organs of 5-day-old juvenile fish are all mature. At this stage, they may develop hepatobiliary diseases induced by developmental defects or compounds. Zebrafish liver is similar to human liver in cell composition, function, signal transduction, response to injury and cell process mediating liver disease. Furthermore, due to the high conservation of genes and proteins between humans and zebrafish, zebrafish becomes an alternative system for studying basic mechanisms of liver disease. Therefore, genetic screening could be performed to identify new genes involving specific disease processes, and chemical screening could be made for drugs in specific processes. This paper briefly introduced the experimental properties of zebrafish as model system, emphasized the study progress of zebrafish models for pathological mechanism of liver diseases, especially fatty liver, and drug screening and evaluation, so as to provide ideas and techniques for the future liver toxicity assessment of TCM.
