[The use of estroprogestational hormones in neuropsychiatry]. / L'impiego degli estroprogestinici in neuropsichiatria.

PIP: The use of combined estrogen-progestogin oral contraceptives in conjunction with psychotropic drugs in the treatment of 14 patients with mental illnesses (schizophrenia, manic-depressive psychoses, personality disorders, hallucinations, phrenasthenia) is reported. Positive clinical response was noted in schizophrenic, manic-depressive, hallucinatory, and phrenasthenic patients, with diminution of aggressive, disordered, and impulsive tendancies. In the 3 patients with personality disorders, a deterioration of status was seen. Collaboration with a gynecologist is recommended.^ieng
