RESUMO

We report on the first observation of γ rays emitted from an sd-shell hypernucleus, _{Λ}^{19}F. The energy spacing between the ground state doublet, 1/2^{+} and 3/2^{+} states, of _{Λ}^{19}F is determined to be 315.5±0.4(stat)_{-0.5}^{+0.6}(syst) keV by measuring the γ-ray energy of the M1(3/2^{+}→1/2^{+}) transition. In addition, three γ-ray peaks are observed and assigned as E2(5/2^{+}→1/2^{+}), E1(1/2^{-}→1/2^{+}), and E1(1/2^{-}→3/2^{+}) transitions. The excitation energies of the 5/2^{+} and 1/2^{-} states are determined to be 895.2±0.3(stat)±0.5(syst) and 1265.6±1.2(stat)_{-0.5}^{+0.7}(syst) keV, respectively. It is found that the ground state doublet spacing is well described by theoretical models based on existing s- and p-shell hypernuclear data.

BACKGROUND: Dark circles refer to a symptom that present darkness under the eyes. Because of improvement in the quality of life, the dark circles have been recognized as one of major cosmetic concerns. However, it is not easy to classify the dark circles because they have various causes. METHODS: To select suitable instruments and detailed evaluation items, the dark circles were classified according to the causes through visual assessment, Wood's lamp test, and medical history survey for 100 subjects with dark circles. After the classification, were newly recruited for instrument conformity assessment. Through this, suitable instruments for dark circle evaluation were selected. We performed a randomized clinical trial for dark circles, a placebo-controlled double-blind study, using effective parameters of the instruments selected from the preliminary test. RESULTS: Dark circles of vascular type (35%) and mixed type (54%), a combination of pigmented and vascular types, were the most common. Twenty four subjects with the mixed type dark circles applied the test product (Vitamin C 3%, Vitamin A 0.1%, Vitamin E 0.5%) and placebo on randomized split-face for 8 weeks. The effective parameters (L*, a, M.I., E.I., quasi L*, quasi a* and dermal thickness) were measured during the study period. Result showed that the L* value of Chromameter(®) , Melanin index (M.I.) of Mexameter(®) and quasi L* value obtained by image analysis improved with statistical significance after applying the test product compared with the placebo product. CONCLUSION: We classified the dark circles according to the causes of the dark circles and verified the reliability of the parameter obtained by the instrument conformity assessment used in this study through the efficacy evaluation. Also based on this study, we were to suggest newly established methods which can be applied to the evaluation of efficacy of functional cosmetics for dark circles.

The energy spacing between the spin-doublet bound state of _{Λ}^{4}He(1^{+},0^{+}) was determined to be 1406±2±2 keV, by measuring γ rays for the 1^{+}→0^{+} transition with a high efficiency germanium detector array in coincidence with the ^{4}He(K^{-},π^{-})_{Λ}^{4}He reaction at J-PARC. In comparison to the corresponding energy spacing in the mirror hypernucleus _{Λ}^{4}H, the present result clearly indicates the existence of charge symmetry breaking (CSB) in ΛN interaction. By combining the energy spacings with the known ground-state binding energies, it is also found that the CSB effect is large in the 0^{+} ground state but is vanishingly small in the 1^{+} excited state, demonstrating that the ΛN CSB interaction has spin dependence.

OBJECTIVE: The physiological characteristics of the skin are varied greatly, depending on gender, age, region and race, and many dermatologic researches have been performed through various research methods. This study aimed to examine how Korean men's skin conditions were influenced by temperature or humidity changes caused by seasonal rotations. METHODS: A total of 100 healthy Korean men, age range 20-59 years, participated in the study for both summer and winter. We compared on the characteristics of skin between summer and winter. The skin hydration, skin pH and TEWL were evaluated on the forehead, cheek and forearm. The skin sebum content of the glabella, nasal ala and cheek was measured using Sebumeter(®) (SM810, Courage+Khazaka, Germany). Cutometer(®) (MPA 580 Courage+Khazaka, Germany) the elasticity was measured by on the cheeks, and PRIMOS lite(®) (Phase shift Rapid in vivo Measurement of Skin, GFMesstechnik GmbH, Germany) was used to evaluate wrinkles on crow's feet. Lastly, in addition, the skin pore of the face was measured using the Janus(®) (PSI, Korea) which is a facial analysis system. RESULTS: The results were as follows: the comparison of hydration in summer and winter shows significant differences in their forehead, cheeks and forearm. The pH values of the skin surface were generally higher in winter, and significantly different on each site, and the sebum content was higher in summer than in winter. As a result of the pore measurement, the summer showed more pores compared to the winter, and there was a statistically significant difference in skin pores between summer and winter. The sensitivity measured by stinging test increases significantly more in winter than in summer. However, there were no seasonal differences in wrinkles and skin brightness. CONCLUSION: The skin surface pH, TEWL, sebum content, hydration, elasticity, wrinkles, skin pore and skin sensitivity vary with seasons and body regions in Korean men.

BACKGROUND: Long-term exposure to sunlight changes skin features like amount of facial wrinkling and skin elasticity, which is useful in estimating skin health and age-related changes. Skin elasticity is evaluated by quantitative methods such as the noninvasive suction device Cutometer(®) , which is widely used to evaluate regional body-elasticity differences and correlate these findings with the results of other instrumental data. Few field studies have been done with the Ballistometer(®) device, another noninvasive method for measuring skin elasticity. METHOD: In this study, we measured the skin elasticity of each subject's forehead, cheek, and volar forearm using two devices with different means of obtaining quantitative measurements - Ballistometer(®) (Diastron Ltd.) and Cutometer(®) (CK electronics). RESULTS: The results from testing with the Ballistometer(®) and Cutometer(®) devices showed that the degree of skin elasticity of the volar forearm is greater than those found on the cheek and forehead. The parameters measured by the Ballistometer(®) showed high correlation patterns. On the cheek skin, the correlation coefficient between Ballisto-parameters and R parameters (R0, R3, R8) was higher than other skin sites. CONCLUSION: Taken together, R parameters measured by the Cutometer(®) device have been widely distributed in the evaluation of skin elasticity in research and cosmetics. Although the methodologies are different, the Ballistometer(®) device is also a useful tool to evaluate skin elasticity.

The kelp grouper Epinephelus bruneus (Perciformes: Haemulidae), is one of the most economically important fishery resources in Korea. This fish is regarded as a target for prospective aquaculture diversification; therefore, maintenance of stock quality is important. To investigate the effects of current artificial reproduction in a hatchery facility, genetic variation in wild-caught broodstock and hatchery-produced offspring of kelp grouper was analyzed using eight polymorphic nuclear microsatellite DNA loci; 77 alleles were identified. Allelic variability ranged from 2 to 22 in the broodstock and from 1 to 10 in the offspring. The average observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.620 and 0.623 in the broodstock and 0.600 and 0.513 in the offspring, respectively. The possibility of a recent genetic bottleneck was suggested in both populations of E. bruneus. The minor, but significant, genetic differentiation (FST = 0.047, P < 0.05) observed was mainly due to statistically significant reductions in the number of alleles in the offspring compared with the broodstock, suggesting that these genetic changes could be related to genetic drift. Our results demonstrate the usefulness of microsatellite markers to monitor genetic variation and raise concerns about potential harmful genetic effects of inappropriate hatchery procedures. Therefore, genetic variation between broodstock and offspring in a hatchery should be monitored in both breeding and release programs as a routine hatchery operation, and inbreeding should ideally be controlled to improve kelp grouper hatchery management. Our data provide a useful genetic basis for future planning of sustainable culture and management of E. bruneus in fisheries.

AIM: To differentiate remnant tumour from postoperative changes on short-term follow-up magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or combined positron-emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) after inadequate primary resection of malignant soft-tissue tumours. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 2007 through September 2010, 35 patients (18 women and 17 men; mean age 48 years; age range 18-78 years) who underwent MRI and PET-CT within 64 days after surgery for malignant soft-tissue tumours were included. MRI images were assessed for the following findings: the presence of delineated enhancing portions; fascial thickening; and fluid or haematomas with measurable wall thickening. The PET-CT data were analysed using the standardized uptake value (SUV) and the uptake pattern. RESULTS: The correlation of tumour grade and the presence of remnant tumour was significant (p = 0.026). After re-excision, remnant tumour was demonstrated in 15 patients and no tumour cells were discovered in 20 patients. The finding of focally delineated enhancing portions on MRI images and the SUVmax on PET-CT analysis were significantly correlated with the remnant tumour (each p = 0.001 and p = 0.036). CONCLUSIONS: To evaluate the presence of remnant tumour after inadequate excision of malignant soft-tissue tumours, an MRI finding of a focally enhancing area and an SUVmax of >2 on PET-CT might be helpful factors. The coexistence of these two findings would be even more helpful for the detection of residual tumours.

The kelp or longtooth grouper (Epinephelus bruneus), which inhabits Eastern Asia, is the most economically important of 11 grouper species that inhabit the Southern Sea near Jeju Island in Korea. This species is listed as vulnerable by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources because of a rapid decrease in its resources. We developed microsatellite markers for E. bruneus using the pyrosequencing technique for applications in resource management and aquaculture. In addition, we tested the cross-species transferability of the microsatellite markers in four species belonging to the Epinephelus genus. Among 66,452 simple sequence repeats, 64 loci containing more than eight CA or TG repeats were randomly selected for primer synthesis; 45 primer sets (75.0%) produced polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of 100-300 bp and were selected as candidates. After primary testing with four E. bruneus fish, 28 polymorphic loci were selected as the final microsatellite markers, and 23 sets showing clear amplification of polymorphic loci were used to analyze 71 fish. These loci have allele numbers ranging from 2 to 23. Null alleles were detected at three loci, and three loci showed an excess of homozygotes in the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test. Of the three species used for cross-species transfer of these markers, Epinephelus moara showed the highest transferability (92.9%) and polymorphism (67.9%), followed by Epinephelus fuscoguttatus (75.0 and 67.9%, respectively) and Epinephelus septemfasciatus (57.1 and 46.4%, respectively). These results suggested that these microsatellite loci should be valuable tools for population genetic studies of the species Epinephelus.

BACKGROUND: The novel hybrid retinoid, retinyl retinoate, is a synthetic material that was designed to reduce the side effects of retinoic acid and to increase the stability of retinol. The formulation of the retinyl retinoate, however, is required to enhance skin permeation, and thus to increase the anti-wrinkle effect. AIM: To identify the efficacy of retinyl retinoate microsphere using biodegradable polymer as an anti-aging agent of cosmetics in treating females over 30 years old with periorbital wrinkles. METHODS: The retinyl retinoate microsphere was prepared using the biodegradable polymer; polylactic acid (PLA). We also conducted two clinical studies with a total of 44 Korean women for 12 weeks. In the first clinical study, 20 patients completed a 12-week trial of cream A [3% PLA-retinyl retinoate (2%) microsphere] applied twice daily to the face. In the second clinical study, 24 patients completed a 12-week trial of cream B (0.06% retinyl retinoate) applied twice daily to the face. Efficacy was based on a global photodamage score, photographs, and image analysis using replicas and Visiometers every 4 weeks. RESULTS: The PLA-retinyl retinoate microsphere was more effective for the permeation of retinyl retinoate than retinyl retinoate in itself. The cream A, which contains 3% PLA-retinyl retinoate (2%) microsphere, showed a statistically significant improvement in facial wrinkles (P<0.05) in 20 volunteers after only 4 weeks of application in a clinical trial test. The visual wrinkle improvement and the maximum roughness improvement rate (R2) for cream A was 6.05%, 8.03% higher than that of cream B which contains 0.06% retinyl retinoate, after 4 weeks. CONCLUSION: Retinyl retinoate has a potent anti-wrinkle activity, and the PLA-retinyl retinoate microsphere could be a useful cosmeceutical product for anti-aging purposes.

While the reproductive and thyroidal systems are extensively studied in fish, they are largely studied in isolation from one another, but there is evidence supporting cross-regulation between these two systems. To better understand hormone action and the potential cross-regulation between estrogen and thyroid hormones, we examined gene expression changes in estrogen receptor (ER) and thyroid receptor (TR) subtypes and key enzymes responsible for the local synthesis and availability of estrogen and thyroid hormones (aromatase B and deiodinase, respectively) in sexually regressed, adult, male goldfish in response to 3 days waterborne exposures to 17ß-estradiol (E2; 1 nM), triiodothyronine (T3; 20 and 100 nM), and co-treatments thereof. Treatments with E2 alone did not effect ER subtype transcripts in the liver, telencephalon, or testis; however, in the testis, 1 nM T3 decreased ERα and ERß1 and co-treatments of T3 and E2 decreased ERß1 levels. TRα-1 and TRß transcripts were not auto-regulated by T3 or cross-regulated by E2. Although deiodinase type I levels were also unaffected, deiodinase type II decreased in response to T3 treatments. Liver deiodinase type III transcripts increased in response to T3 treatments, while E2 exhibited antagonistic effects on this T3-mediated induction. These results provide novel evidence of cross-talk between the reproductive and thyroid endocrine axes in a model teleost.

SETTING: Antenatal care (ANC) and postpartum care (PPC) clinic in Manhiça District, Mozambique.OBJECTIVE: To estimate the prevalence of TB among pregnant and post-partum women and describe the clinical characteristics of the disease in a rural area of Southern Mozambique.METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional TB prevalence study among pregnant and post-partum women recruited from September 2016 to March 2018 at the Manhiça Health Care Center (MHC). We recruited two independent cohorts of women consecutively presenting for routine pregnancy or post-partum follow-up visits.RESULTS: A total of 1,980 women from the ANC clinic and 1,010 from the PPC clinic were enrolled. We found a TB prevalence of 505/100,000 (95% CI: 242-926) among pregnant women and 297/100,000 (95% CI: 61-865) among post-partum women. Among HIV-positive pregnant women, TB prevalence was 1,626/100,000 (95% CI: 782-2,970) and among postpartum HIV-positive women, TB prevalence was 984/100,000 (95% CI: 203-2,848).CONCLUSIONS: The burden of TB was not higher in postpartum women than in pregnant women. Most TB cases were detected in HIV-positive women. TB screening and diagnostic testing among pregnant and postpartum women attending ANC and PPC clinics in Manhiça District is acceptable and feasible.

Carnivorous fish species such as the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) are considered to be "glucose intolerant" because of the prolonged hyperglycemia experienced after intake of a carbohydrate-enriched meal. In the present study, we use this species to study glucose homeostasis in fish chronically infused with the hypoglycemic agents, insulin, and metformin, and fed with a high proportion of carbohydrates (30%). We analyzed liver, skeletal muscle, and white adipose tissue (WAT), which are insulin- and metformin-specific targets at both the biochemical and molecular levels. Trout infused with the combination of insulin and metformin can effectively utilize dietary glucose at the liver, resulting in lowered glycemia, increased insulin sensitivity, and glucose storage capacity, combined with reduced glucose output. However, in both WAT and skeletal muscle, we observed decreased insulin sensitivity with the combined insulin + metformin treatment, resulting in the absence of changes at the metabolic level in the skeletal muscle and an increased potential for glucose uptake and storage in the WAT. Thus, the poor utilization by rainbow trout of a diet with a high proportion of carbohydrate can at least be partially improved by a combined treatment with insulin and metformin, and the glucose intolerance observed in this species could be, in part, due to some of the downstream components of the insulin and metformin signaling pathways. However, the predominant effects of metformin treatment on the action of insulin in these three tissues thought to be involved in glucose homeostasis remain exclusive in this species.

INTRODUCTION: Few recent studies have examined patient reported outcomes (PROs) during pre- or post-operative radiation therapy (RT) for soft tissue sarcoma (STS), and none have used PROMIS. This study aims to examine PROMIS scores across peri-operative time points for patients receiving pre- or post-operative RT. METHODS: Anxiety, depression, pain interference, and physical function PROMIS domains were collected at the pre-operative (1), immediate post-operative (2), and post-treatment completion (3) timepoints for patients undergoing surgery and either pre-operative or post-operative RT. Median scores were compared between groups using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The reliable change index was used to determine minimum important change in PROMIS scores and to compare scores between timepoints. RESULTS: 95 patients were included (19 pre-operative, 76 post-operative). Both groups had significant decreases in function during treatment. Patients with wound complications were more likely to have significant increases in anxiety (36.4% vs. 8.3%; p = 0.020) and decreases in physical function (57.1% vs. 16.2%; p = 0.011) independent of RT timing. CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates minimum significant change thresholds to detect PROMIS changes in STS patients undergoing pre- and post-operative radiotherapy. As expected, more patients with pre-operative RT than post-operative RT had wound complications (p = 0.06), but patients with complications in both groups had worse anxiety and function at the completion of treatment compared with those that did not. The association of wound complications with worse anxiety and physical function at completion of treatment should be considered when making individualized treatment recommendations regarding the timing of RT.

Adolescent marijuana use has become increasingly more problematic compared with the past; thus, understanding developmental processes that increase the liability of marijuana use is essential. Two developmental pathways to adolescent substance use have been proposed: an externalizing pathway that emphasizes the expression of aggressive and delinquent behavior, and an internalizing pathway that emphasizes the role of depressive symptoms and negative affect. In this study, we aimed to examine the synergistic role of impulsiveness and sensation seeking in the two risk pathways to determine whether both high and low levels of the traits are risk factors for marijuana use. Our study included 343 adolescents (52% were girls, 78% identified as Hispanic) that oversampled high-risk youth (78% had a family history of substance use disorder), assessed biannually between the ages of 13-16 years old. Moderated mediation analyses revealed that high levels of sensation seeking indirectly predicted marijuana use through higher mean levels of externalizing behavior. The positive relationship between sensation seeking and externalizing behavior was only significant at high levels of impulsiveness. Conversely, low levels of sensation seeking indirectly predicted marijuana use through higher mean levels of internalizing behavior. The negative relationship between sensation seeking and internalizing behavior was only significant at low levels of impulsiveness. Collectively, these results demonstrate that high and low levels of both impulsiveness and sensation seeking confer increased risk of marijuana use, albeit through different mechanisms. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly malignant disease, where even surgical resection and aggressive chemotherapy produce dismal outcomes. Immunotherapy is a promising alternative to conventional treatments, possessing the ability to elicit T cell-mediated killing of tumor cells and prevent disease recurrence. Immunotherapeutic approaches thus far have seen limited success in PDAC due to a poorly immunogenic and exceedingly immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, which is enriched with dysfunctional and immunosuppressed antigen-presenting cells (APCs). We developed a highly potent immunostimulatory nanoparticle (immuno-NP) to activate and expand APCs in the tumor and induce local secretion of interferon ß (IFNß), which is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a major role in APC recruitment. The effectiveness of the immuno-NP stems from its dual cargo of two synergistic immune modulators consisting of an agonist of the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway and an agonist of the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway. We show the functional synergy of the dual-agonist cargo can be tweaked by adjusting the ratio of the two agonists loaded in the immuno-NP, leading to an increase in IFNß production (11-fold) compared to any single agonist immuno-NP variant. Using the orthotopic murine Panc02 model of PDAC, we show that systemic administration allowed immuno-NPs to deposit into the perivascular regions of the tumor, which coincided with the APC-rich tumor areas leading to predominant uptake of immuno-NPs by APCs. The immuno-NPs were effectively taken up by a significant portion of dendritic cells in the tumor (>56%). This led to a significant expansion of APCs, resulting in an 11.5-fold increase of dendritic cells and infiltration of lymphocytes throughout the pancreatic tumor compared to untreated animals.

The origin for the poor glucose utilization in carnivorous fish species fed high carbohydrate diets remains under debate. In the present study, we have fed rainbow trout a diet containing 30% carbohydrate for 1 or 5 days. In both cases, fish were implanted with mini-osmotic pumps releasing 0.7 i.u. kg(-1) day(-1) bovine insulin, and mRNA transcripts and the protein phosphorylation status of proteins controlling glycemia and glucose-related metabolism were studied in fish killed 6 h after the last meal. We demonstrate that when the exposure occurs over a short term (30 h), insulin exerts beneficial actions on trout glucose homeostasis, including a lowered glycemia and increased hepatic lipogenic and glycogenic potentials. However, when trout were fed for 5 days, these beneficial actions of insulin infusion were no longer observed. Thus, the increased lipogenic potential observed after one single meal was not present, and this together with the increased glycogenesis and the decreased glucose exported to the blood from the liver explains the lack of hypoglycemic action of insulin. The fact that insulin improved glucose homeostasis when administrated over a short time period implies that endogenous insulin secretion is inadequate in trout to deal with this amount of dietary carbohydrates. Moreover, the fact that a longer exposure to insulin resulted in a reduced response indicates that the rainbow trout is sensitive to insulin, re-enforcing the hypothesis that the hyperglycemia observed following a high carbohydrate meal is an insulin secretion issue rather an insulin action issue.

Congenital complete heart block is a rare phenomenon that may be discovered during pregnancy in patients who were previously asymptomatic. Peripartum management of these patients mandates a multidisciplinary approach with careful planning regarding indications for pacing, appropriate anesthetic technique, and contingency planning. Approaches to anesthetic management for congenital complete heart block have been described, but management in association with severe pre-eclampsia has not been reported. We describe the anesthetic management of a parturient with complete heart block who presented with severe pre-eclampsia requiring urgent cesarean section.

Carnivorous fish are poor users of dietary carbohydrates and are considered to be glucose intolerant. In this context, we have tested, for the first time in rainbow trout, metformin, a common anti-diabetic drug, known to modify muscle and liver metabolism and to control hyperglycemia in mammals. In the present study, juvenile trout were fed with very high levels of carbohydrates (30% of the diet) for this species during 10 days followed by feeding with pellets supplemented with metformin (0.25% of the diet) for three additional days. Dietary metformin led to a significant reduction in postprandial glycemia in trout, demonstrating unambiguously the hypoglycemic effect of this drug. No effect of metformin was detected on mRNA levels for glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4), or enzymes involved in glycolysis, mitochondrial energy metabolism, or on glycogen level in the white muscle. Expected inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenic (glucose-6-phosphatase, fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase, and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase) mRNA levels was not found, showing instead paradoxically higher mRNA levels for these genes after drug treatment. Finally, metformin treatment was associated with higher mRNA levels and activities for lipogenic enzymes (fatty acid synthase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase). Overall, this study strongly supports that the induction of hepatic lipogenesis by dietary glucose may permit a more efficient control of postprandial glycemia in carnivorous fish fed with high carbohydrate diets.

Fifty-nineCF infants' sweat chloride concentrations were analyzed to answer the questions: What is the biological and analytical variation in sweat chloride concentrations collected from the 32 infants homozygous for the F508 deletion? Do sweat chloride concentrations change in the first year of life beyond the variance previously established for adults with similar CFTR mutations? The biological and analytical variation of the infants' sweat chloride concentration was similar to that seen in adult CF patients. While there was a statistically significant difference between sweat chloride concentration in early (89.8 mmol/L) and late (95.0 mmol/L) infancy, this change is not likely clinically significant. This suggests that sweat chloride concentrations in CF patients do not change in a meaningful way during the first year of life. Determining variability in infants with CF is the necessary first step for future design of clinical trials of CFTR modulators in younger patients.

Glioblastomas (GBMs) remain highly lethal. This partially stems from the presence of brain tumor initiating cells (BTICs), a highly plastic cellular subpopulation that is resistant to current therapies. In addition to resistance, the blood-brain barrier limits the penetration of most drugs into GBMs. To effectively deliver a BTIC-specific inhibitor to brain tumors, we developed a multicomponent nanoparticle, termed Fe@MSN, which contains a mesoporous silica shell and an iron oxide core. Fibronectin-targeting ligands directed the nanoparticle to the near-perivascular areas of GBM. After Fe@MSN particles deposited in the tumor, an external low-power radiofrequency (RF) field triggered rapid drug release due to mechanical tumbling of the particle resulting in penetration of high amounts of drug across the blood-brain tumor interface and widespread drug delivery into the GBM. We loaded the nanoparticle with the drug 1400W, which is a potent inhibitor of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). It has been shown that iNOS is preferentially expressed in BTICs and is required for their maintenance. Using the 1400W-loaded Fe@MSN and RF-triggered release, in vivo studies indicated that the treatment disrupted the BTIC population in hypoxic niches, suppressed tumor growth and significantly increased survival in BTIC-derived GBM xenografts.
