Flexible power-associative algebras of degree 1.

ABSTRACT

It is shown here that there are essentially two different types of simple flexible, strictly power-associative finite dimensional algebras of degree 1; namely, the fields and the algebras of Kokoris. This follows readily from the perhaps more basic result that characterizes the simple commutative power-associative finite dimensional algebras of degree 1 as fields.
