RESUMEN

Background: Myofascial pain syndrome is one of the most common complaints in patients referring to orthopedic treatment centers. The present study aimed to examine the effects of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and dry needling (DN) on active myofascial trigger points (AMTrP) of the upper trapezius muscle (UTM). Methods: The current study was designed as a randomized clinical trial and a total of 81 patients, aged 18-40 years, with active myofascial trigger points in the upper trapezius muscle were randomly divided into 3 groups: group 1 (n = 30) received DN treatment, group 2 (n = 26) received IASTM treatment, and group 3 (n = 25) was considered as the control group (no intervention). The numeric pain scale (NPS), pain pressure threshold (PPT), active cervical contra-lateral flexion (ACLF), neck disability index (NDI), and muscle thickness (MT), according to rehabilitative ultrasonic imaging (RUSI), were measured at baseline, immediately after the last session (session 4 in week 2), and 1 month after the last session. The statistical analysis was conducted at a 95% confidence level. The P values less than.05 were considered as statistically significant. Results: Both techniques were effective in treating active trigger point of the upper trapezius (p<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the treatment groups in terms of any of the above variables except for ACLF (p>0.05) Conclusion: Both IASTM and DN were determined to improve NPS, PPT, ROM, and NDI in participants with active trigger points in the upper trapezius, although IASTM was more effective in increasing ACLF in these patients.

Background: To our knowledge, no study has examined the kinematics of lumbopelvic-hip complex of individuals with chronic low back pain (CLBP) who had lumbar flexion+rotation (F+R) syndrome during sit to stand (SiToSt) and stand to sit (StToSi) activities. Thus, this study aimed to examine movement patterns of the lumbopelvic-hip complex in participants with CLBP classified into F+R syndrome subgroup. Methods: This was a cross sectional study. A 3-dimensional motion capture system was used to record movements of the lumbar spine and hips during SiToSt and StToSi. Participants were 20 patients with LBP classified in lumbar F+R subgroup, based on the movement impairment system model, and 20 asymptomatic individuals. The study was approved by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (IR, SBMU.RETECH, and REC.1395.365). Results: Greater and significant lumbar flexion, with SiToSt, and lumbar extension, with StToSi, were observed in the patients. In addition, the patients exhibited a greater magnitude of lumbar rotation during SiToSt. No significant difference was observed between the 2 groups in hip motions. Conclusion: The patients with lumbar F+R syndrome tend to move their lumbopelvic region to a greater extent in sagittal and horizontal planes during SiToSt and StToSi compared with participants without low back pain.

OBJECTIVE: Auditory temporal processing is the main feature of speech processing ability. Patients with temporal lobe epilepsy, despite their normal hearing sensitivity, may present speech recognition disorders. The present study was carried out to evaluate the auditory temporal processing in patients with unilateral TLE. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present study was carried out on 25 patients with epilepsy: 11 patients with right temporal lobe epilepsy and 14 with left temporal lobe epilepsy with a mean age of 31.1years and 18 control participants with a mean age of 29.4years. The two experimental and control groups were evaluated via gap-in-noise and duration pattern sequence tests. One-way ANOVA was run to analyze the data. RESULTS: The mean of the threshold of the GIN test in the control group was observed to be better than that in participants with LTLE and RTLE. Also, it was observed that the percentage of correct responses on the DPS test in the control group and in participants with RTLE was better than that in participants with LTLE. CONCLUSION: Patients with TLE have difficulties in temporal processing. Difficulties are more significant in patients with LTLE, likely because the left temporal lobe is specialized for the processing of temporal information.

OBJECTIVES: Plasmid genes, termed mobile colistin resistance-1 (mcr-1) and mobile colistin resistance-2 (mcr-2), are associated with resistance to colistin in Escherichia coli (E. coli). These mcr genes result in a range of protein modifications contributing to colistin resistance. This study aims to discern the proteomic characteristics of E. coli-carrying mcr-1 and mcr-2 genes. Furthermore, it evaluates the expression levels of various proteins under different conditions (with and without colistin). METHODS: Plasmid extraction was performed using an alkaline lysis-based plasmid extraction kit, whereas polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the presence of mcr-1 and mcr-2 plasmids. The E. coli DH5α strain served as the competent cell for accepting and transforming mcr-1 and mcr-2 plasmids. We assessed proteomic alterations in the E. coli DH5α strain both with and without colistin in the growth medium. Proteomic data were analysed using mass spectrometry. RESULTS: The findings revealed significant protein changes in the E. coli DH5α strain following cloning of mcr-1 and mcr-2 plasmids. Of the 20 proteins in the DH5α strain, expression in 8 was suppressed following transformation. In the presence of colistin in the culture medium, 39 new proteins were expressed following transformation with mcr-1 and mcr-2 plasmids. The proteins with altered expression play various roles. CONCLUSION: The results of this study highlight numerous protein alterations in E. coli resulting from mcr-1 and mcr-2-mediated resistance to colistin. This understanding can shed light on the resistance mechanism. Additionally, the proteomic variations observed in the presence and absence of colistin might indicate potential adverse effects of indiscriminate antibiotic exposure on treatment efficacy and heightened pathogenicity of microorganisms.

Introduction: Chronic and progressive damage to the kidney by inflammatory processes, may lead to an increase in the extracellular matrix production, a condition known as renal fibrosis. The current study aims to evaluate if the extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from autophagic adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) can reduce the inflammation and extracellular matrix accumulation in damaged kidney tissue. Methods: Autophagy was induced in ADMSCs using 2µM concentration curcumin and was confirmed by evaluating LC3B, ATG7, and Beclin1 using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot. An in vitro renal fibrotic model was established in HEK-293 cells exposed to H2O2 (0.8mM) for 24 and 72 hours. The fibrotic model was confirmed through evaluation of collagen I, transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-ß1), E-cadherin, and vimentin genes expression using real-time PCR, collagen I protein by ELISA. After induction of fibrosis for 24 and 72 hours, the HEK cells were treated with NEVs (non-autophagy EVs) (50µM) or AEVs (autophagy EVs) (50µM) at 48, 96, and 124 hours, and then the samples were collected at 72 and 148 hours. Expression of collagen I, TGF-ß1, E-cadherin, and vimentin Genes was evaluated via RT-PCR, and protein levels of IL1, TNF-α, IL4, IL10 using ELISA. Results: Induction of autophagy using curcumin (2µM) for 24 hours significantly increased LC3B, Beclin1, and ATG7 in the ADMSCs. Upregulation in anti-fibrotic (E-cadherin) and anti-inflammatory (IL4, IL10) gene expression was significantly different in the fibrotic model treated by AEVs compared to NEVs. Also, the downregulation of fibrotic (TGF-ß1, vimentin, collagen I) and pro-inflammatory (IL1, TNFα) gene expression was significantly different in AEVs compared with those treated by NEVs. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that AEVs can be considered as a therapeutic modality for renal fibrosis in the future.

PURPOSE: The present study aimed to validate the Persian version of the Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS-P) for stroke patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The current study was conducted in two phases: (1) translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the FOIS into Persian and (2) validation of the FOIS-P. Phase 1 included forward translation, synthesis, back-ward translation, expert panel, and pretesting. To validate the FOIS-P, inter-rater reliability, cross-validity, and sensitivity to change of the scale were investigated. To evaluate the inter-rater reliability of the FOIS-P, two speech-language pathologists, who were blind to the study aims and procedure, applied the FOIS-P to assess the oral intake of 60 stroke survivors. The cross-validity was assessed by investigating the correlation between the FOIS scores and the Video Fluoroscopy Swallowing Study (VFSS). Also, we applied the FOIS-P on 60 patients with stroke at three different times to investigate the sensitivity to change. RESULTS: Inter-rater reliability of the FOIS-P was excellent according to Cohen's Kappa calculation (K = 0.89, p<.001). Investigation of cross-validity showed that there were significant correlations between the FOIS scores and presence of dysphagia, presence of aspiration, and severity of dysphagia (p<.001). The changes of the FOIS-P scores over follow-ups revealed that the FOIS-P was sensitive to the patient's oral intake changes. CONCLUSIONS: The FOIS-P is a valid and reliable tool for assessing oral intake in stroke survivors with dysphagia. Hence, the FOIS-P may be suitable for clinical and research in the field of stroke.

PURPOSE: With the outbreak of the COVID-19 and the need for physical distancing, the provision of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services via telepractice has been essential. One of the first steps in this field is the need to study telepractice among Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs). However, there is currently no specific instrument to measure telepractice in SLP to achieve this aim. The present study was conducted to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of a questionnaire to investigate telepractice among SLPs during the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study comprised of two stages: (1) development of the questionnaire according to an in-depth literature review and (2) evaluation of the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. The content validity of the instrument was determined by 10 experts in the field of SLP. To check the face validity of the questionnaire, 10 SLPs were interviewed and their opinions were incorporated in the questionnaire. A total of 221 SLPs completed the questionnaire to determine the construct validity and the internal consistency. To evaluate the test-retest reliability, 30 SLPs completed the questionnaire twice with two weeks of interval. RESULTS: The final version of the questionnaire comprised of three sections and 31 items. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for different sections of the questionnaire ranged between 0.902 and 0.92 and the Intra-class Correlation coefficients of the sections were found to be between 0.9 and 0.96 in the test-retest reliability. CONCLUSIONS: The questionnaire developed in the study is a valid and reliable scale to measure telepractice among SLPs for educational or research purposes.

INTRODUCTION: Although pain is one of the complaints reported by voice patients, still there is no valid and reliable scale to evaluate pain in Patients with Voice Disorders (PWVDs). Therefore, the aim of the present study was to develop and validate the Voice-Related Pain Scale (VRPS). METHODS: The present study was conducted in two stages: (1) development of the VRPS based on semistructured interviews with PWVDs and experts in the field of voice disorders and an in-depth literature review, and (2) Evaluation of the psychometric properties of the VRPS. Determining the validity and reliability of the VRPS was performed using qualitative and quantitative content validity, the qualitative face validity, and the test-retest reliability. Content validity of the VRPS was assessed by Speech and Language Pathologists who are experts in the assessment and treatment of voice patients and laryngologist. The reliability of the scale was determined using test-retest reliability. RESULTS: Based on the interviews with PWVDs and experts, and a thorough review of the related literature, a self-reported scale with 11 items and three sections was developed. The three items included ear, temporomandibular joint, and shoulder all of which were divided into right and left pairs based on the experts' suggestion. One item was eliminated because it had a content validity ratio less than 0.62. The content validity index (CVIs) for all the remaining items were higher than 0.79 and the scale content validity index was equal to 0.93. The test-retest reliability was satisfactory with weighted kappa ranging from 0.64 to 1 for VRPS items. The final version of the VRPS comprised of 13 items related to the pain location in the human body. Each of these items has three sections: frequency of pain, severity of pain, and time of pain occurrence. CONCLUSION: The present study indicated that VRPS is a valid and reliable tool to evaluate pain in PWVDs. The VRPS is a useful tool for clinical and research purposes. However, more studies are needed in this regard for further evaluation of the VRPS.

AIM: The present study aimed to determine pain in patients with voice disorders (PWVDs). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total number of 28 patients with a range of voice disorders and without any other diseases participated in the study. To gain maximum variation, purposive sampling method was used. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were employed for data collection. The interviews were then continued until data saturation was reached, and the data were subsequently recorded and transcribed verbatim. Qualitative content analysis was utilized for data analysis. RESULTS: Data analysis of the interviews emerged three themes about pain experienced by PWVDs. The emerged themes included location of pain, type of pain, and time of pain occurrence. In this respect, PWVDs reported pain in different locations on their body including head, ears, anterior neck, posterior neck, larynx, temporomandibular joint, submandibular area, shoulders, and upper back. Furthermore, chronic, acute, severe, and mild were the most common types of pain reported by PWVDs. The PWVDs also stated that they had experienced pain at different times, i.e. during speaking, after long-time speaking, after voice use, during swallowing, during palpation, and all the time (even at rest). CONCLUSIONS: One of the physical discomforts experienced by PWVDs is pain. According to the results of the present study, pain should properly be considered in the assessment and treatment of PWVDs in clinical practices. Also, our study suggested that a specific scale is needed to measure pain in voice disorders.

RESUMEN

Recently, a novel virus has spread worldwide causing the disease called COVID-19. In addition to putting people's lives at risk and causing mortality, various problems have occurred due to the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Quarantine, social distancing, and the obligation to use protective tools have led to sometimes long term closing of various jobs and services, including rehabilitation services. For instance, the disease has interrupted the provision of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services to children due to the need for face-to-face communication between Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs) and children during the evaluation and treatment processes. Therefore, here, we described the quality of providing SLP services during the COVID-19 pandemic and the negative effects of the disease on the provision of SLP services. In addition, we made an attempt to explain concerns and problems raised by the families, the importance of providing SLP services during the critical period of speech and language development, telepractice services, the roles of speech-language-hearing related scientific associations, and the roles of SLPs during the outbreak of COVID-19.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the present study was to determine the short and medium effects of dry needling (DN) on myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in individuals with symptomatic hallux valgus (SHV). METHODS: A total of 30 female volunteers, aged 25-60, with hallux valgus (HV) were randomly divided into two groups: DN group (n = 15) and control group (n = 15) who received sham dry needling. The outcome measures were pain intensity (Visual Analogue Scale, VAS), Foot Function Index (FFI), hallux valgus angle (HVA), and first metatarsophalangeal joint radiography. RESULTS: At the end of the intervention, the HVA showed a significant decrease in the case group (P < 0.001); however, statistically no significant difference was found in the pain intensity and foot function between the two groups (P > 0.05). These findings were maintained for a week and a month during follow-ups. CONCLUSION: According to the findings, dry needling can be recommended for improving first metatarsophalangeal joint alignment in the mild to moderate SHV individuals.

OBJECTIVES: Integrons, as a potential element in the distribution and maintenance of drug resistance, have thoroughly been established. It is known that the high prevalence of integrons in multidrug-resistant (MDR) clinical isolates has become a serious public health concern. The objective of the present study was to determine the frequency of different classes of integrons in clinical isolates in Iran. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Electronic global databases were systematically searched. The raw data for integrons among bacterial isolates were collected and their prevalence was analyzed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis V2.0 (Biostat, Englewood, NJ, USA) software. RESULTS: In a comprehensive literature review, 29 eligible studies were determined with their meta-analyses indicating the prevalence of integron class 1 to be 41% (95% CI 36.3-46.1) and integron class 2 as 17.7% (95% CI 13-23.3) in Gram-negative bacteria. The highest prevalence of integron class 1 was reported in Acinetobacter spp (58%) while the highest prevalence of integron class 2 was reported in Shigella isolates (83.7%). The frequencies of class 1 integron in MDR (79%) and non-MDR isolates (41%) were higher than those for class 2 integron in MDR (13.4%) and non-MDR isolates (17.7%). CONCLUSION: The current systematic review demonstrated the significant presence of integrons among clinical isolates. Our analysis showed that measures such as estimates of the prevalence of this transposable element and diligence in continued surveillance might be necessary to prevent its spread.

OBJECTIVES: Coping is one of the important concepts in psychology, which is pertinent to how persons with illness manage the stress of that condition. Voice Disability Coping Questionnaire (VDCQ) is an assessment tool for quantifying coping strategies in those with voice disability. The purpose of the present study was to investigate reliability and validity of the Persian version of VDCQ (P-VDCQ). METHOD: Translation procedure was performed according to the World Health Organization guidelines, and then 138 persons (88 persons with voice disorders and 50 controls) completed the questionnaire. Psychometric properties of the P-VDCQ were investigated. RESULTS: There was a significant difference between the mean value of patients with dysphonia and that of the control group. The results of test-result reliability indicated that there is a high correlation between repeated administration of the questionnaire (intraclass correlation coefficient = 89.7). Also, a high Cronbach's alpha coefficient (α = 0.94) revealed a good internal consistency. Participants' scores in this instrument had a moderate correlation with their scores on Voice Activity Participation Profile-Persian version (r = 0.41, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The P-VDCQ is a reliable and a valid instrument that can be used to investigate coping strategies of patients with dysphonia in clinical settings and for research purposes.

INTRODUCTION: The widespread emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus is turning into a real worry in public health. The goals of the present study were to identify resistance and virulence encoding genes and molecular characteristics of methicillin-resistant S. aureus bloodstream isolates. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 84 S. aureus bloodstream isolates during a 10-month period. To evaluate antibiotic susceptibility of the isolates, we used Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. In addition, the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance and toxins genes was assessed using polymerase chain reaction. Isolates were typed according to polymorphisms seven housekeeping genes by MLST. RESULTS: All the isolates were resistant to methicillin. The most prevalent resistance gene was mecA gene (100%) followed by tetM (57.1%), aac (6΄)-Ie/aph (2˝) (53.6%), ant (4΄)-Ia (46.4%), ermA (45.2%), msrA (35.7%), msrB (33.3%), aph (3΄)-IIIa (33.3%), ermB (31%), ermC (16.7%), and mupA (14.3%) genes. The presence of toxin encoding genes tst, pvl, eta, and etb were detected in 25%, 14.3%, 3.6% and 3.6%, respectively. The isolates were classified into five different sequence types: ST45 (29.8%), ST239 (27.4%), ST858 (21.4%), ST22 (17.8%), and ST59 (3.6%). All the high-level mupirocin-resistant (HLMUPR) strains belonged to ST239, while the low-level mupirocin resistant (LLMUPR) strains belonged to ST22 (13%) and ST239 (6%). CONCLUSIONS: To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first report of ST59 in MRSA bloodstream isolates in Iran. Our data demonstrated the need for thorough epidemiological monitoring to detect emergence and dissemination of MDR- MRSA types in our hospitals.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present systematic review was to investigate the nonmedical treatments of vocal fold nodules (VFNs). STUDY DESIGN: The present study is a systematic review. METHODS: The following electronic databases were searched from inception until August 2016: PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Ovid, ISI (Web of Sciences), Cochrane, PsychINFO, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Google Scholar. Reference lists of included articles were evaluated for additional data. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines were used to carry out and report the review. The methodological quality of the articles included was evaluated using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database scale. Due to the heterogeneity of the studies, a narrative synthesis of the evidence was performed to summarize the evidence. RESULTS: Out of 2,099 records identified, 21 articles met the inclusion criteria and thus were included in the review. The studies investigated in the present review were different in terms of study design, participant characteristics, types of assessments and treatments, and treatment delivery. However, nonmedical treatments of VFNs were found to be successful in improving vocal quality, decreasing VFN sizes, and resolving these nodules. CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present review could provide primary evidence related to the effectiveness of nonmedical treatment of VFNs. Yet further studies with a high level of evidence, a rigorous methodological quality, and long-term follow-up evaluations are required to make stronger claims.

BACKGROUND: Forward head posture (FHP) is a forward positioning of the head relative to the trunk in the sagittal plane. This posture is one of the most prevalent poor postures in patients with head and neck pain. Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging (RUSI) is a reliable method to objectively evaluate muscle thickness and function. OBJECTIVE: To compare thickness of cervical muscles that control both head and neck posture between asymptomatic women with and without FHP. METHODS: Seventy asymptomatic women aged between 20 and 40 years, with and without FHP (35 in each group), participated in the study. The thickness of the cervical muscles (rectus capitis posterior - RCP, oblique capitis superior - OCS, semispinalis capitis - SSC, sternocleidomastoid - SCM, and longus coli - LCo) was measured using RUSI and the data was compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The comparison of cervical muscle thickness between women with and without FHP revealed significant difference only with regard to the muscle thickness of the SCM muscle (mean difference: 0.7mm, 95% confidence interval of the difference: 0.14, 1.26mm, p value: 0.014). The thickness of this muscle was greater in women with FHP. CONCLUSION: Tonic contraction of the SCM muscle can lead to greater thickness of this muscle in subjects with FHP.

INTRODUCTION: Staphylococcus aureus is known to be a major cause of skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia and invasive diseases. In this study, attempts were made to examine the prevalence of tsst-1, eta, etb, and luk-PV genes among methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) isolated from children in Tehran. METHODOLOGY: In the present cross-sectional study, a total of 100 MRSA were isolated from children who were referred to a pediatric hospital during 11-month period of September 2014 to August 2015. Isolates were identified using biochemical tests and then, using PCR, the isolates were tested for the presence of mecA, tsst-1, eta, etb, and luk-PV genes. Susceptibility of isolates to cefoxitin, penicillin, erythromycin, clindamycin, gentamicin, rifampin, minocycline, co-trimoxazole, linezolid, and vancomycin were evaluated using standard methods. RESULTS: It was found that the MRSA isolates had the greatest resistance to clindamycin (72%) and erythromycin (59%), while the lowest rates of resistance were observed to be related to minocycline (6%) and rifampin (12%). All of isolates were sensitive to vancomycin and linezolid. The mecA gene was detected in all the isolates. Moreover, luk-PV and tsst-1 were detected in 18% and 17% of the isolates, respectively. None of the isolates harbored eta and etb genes. CONCLUSIONS: Our data provide specifications about the toxin production status of S. aureus isolates from pediatric children. The current study showed increased resistance to different antibiotics in S. aureus isolates. Therefore, to prevent multi-resistance to other antibiotic classes, it is essential to withhold prescriptions and stop unessential use of available antibiotics.

BACKGROUND: Burnout has its focus on exhaustion and it includes persistent response to long-lasting job-related stressful events. It has a special relevance in health care area in which staff is under constant psychological, emotional, and physical stress. The results of several studies on burnout prevalence among Iranian nurses indicate its high incidence. Therefore, more accurate researches are required for better preventive interventions, and to do so, a reliable validated scale is required. One of the suitable and new tools for the measurement of burnout is Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI). This study aimed to translate and investigate psychometric properties of CBI in Iranian nurses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this methodological study, after the translation process, face and content validities via qualitative and quantitative methods was done. Content validation ratio, scale-level content validated index, item-level content validity index were measured. Then, construct validity was determined through factor analysis. Furthermore, internal consistency reliability and stability were assessed. The questionnaire was sent to 450 nurses who were randomly selected via quota sampling. RESULTS: Face and content validity were acceptable. After translation and cultural adaptation process, exploratory factor analysis suggested a new model based on four factors and fit indices validated this model via confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency and stability of CBI were affirmed for each subscale separately. CONCLUSIONS: The four-factor Persian version of the CBI proved to enjoy acceptable psychometric properties. It can be applied to evaluate burnout in Iranian nurses or other health care providers.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer type in men and is the second cause of death, due to cancer, in patients over 50, after lung cancer. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is a widely used tumor marker for prostate cancer. Recently, PSA is discovered in non-prostatic cancer tissues in men and women raising doubts about its specificity for prostatic tissues. PSA exists in low serum level in healthy men and in higher levels in many prostate disorders, including prostatitis and prostate cancer. Thus, a supplementary tumor marker is needed to accurately diagnose the cancer and to observe the patient after treatment. Recently, soluble human leukocyte antigen-G (sHLA-G) has been introduced as a new tumor marker for different cancer types, including colorectal, breast, lung, and ovary. The present descriptive-experimental study was carried out including patients with malignant prostate tumor, patients with benign prostate tumor, and a group of health men as the control group, as judged by an oncologist as well as a pathologist. After sterile blood sampling, sHLA-G was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in each group. The data was then analyzed using one-way ANOVA. P≤0.05 was considered as statistically significant. The results showed that the mean of sHLA-G level was high in patients. Also, it was found that there was a significant difference in sHLA serum level between the three groups. The data revealed that sHLA-G can be a novel supplementary tumor marker in addition to PSA to diagnose prostate cancer.
