RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The family system is important for children's development. Previous research has demonstrated that some families are able to maintain good adaptability or resilience in the face of stressors. This study aimed to develop the revised Chinese version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale and examine the psychometric properties of the scale among children disadvantaged in adversity due to family migration. METHODS: A total of 1487 children (47.6 % girls) from disadvantaged families participated in this study, whom completed the revised Chinese version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale, the Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale for Children. RESULTS: (1) Good language equivalency was found (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient = 0.96); (2) Item analysis indicated that the critical ratio values of all 45 items were above 0.30 (p < 0.001), except for 7 items that were dropped from further analysis; (3) The exploratory factor analysis indicated that the best model was four-factor model; (4) The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four-factor model had good model fit; (5) Family resilience was significantly correlated with personal resilience and depression; (6) The internal consistency reliability of the scale was 0.95. CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed that the revised Chinese version of the Family Resilience Assessment Scale was a reliable and valid instrument to assess family resilience of Chinese children who are disadvantaged.

Piezoelectrics interconvert mechanical energy and electric charge and are widely used in actuators and sensors. The best performing materials are ferroelectrics at a morphotropic phase boundary, where several phases coexist. Switching between these phases by electric field produces a large electromechanical response. In ferroelectric BiFeO3, strain can create a morphotropic-phase-boundary-like phase mixture and thus generate large electric-field-dependent strains. However, this enhanced response occurs at localized, randomly positioned regions of the film. Here, we use epitaxial strain and orientation engineering in tandem-anisotropic epitaxy-to craft a low-symmetry phase of BiFeO3 that acts as a structural bridge between the rhombohedral-like and tetragonal-like polymorphs. Interferometric displacement sensor measurements reveal that this phase has an enhanced piezoelectric coefficient of ×2.4 compared with typical rhombohedral-like BiFeO3. Band-excitation frequency response measurements and first-principles calculations provide evidence that this phase undergoes a transition to the tetragonal-like polymorph under electric field, generating an enhanced piezoelectric response throughout the film and associated field-induced reversible strains. These results offer a route to engineer thin-film piezoelectrics with improved functionalities, with broader perspectives for other functional oxides.

To explore the potential value of serum glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) combined with inflammatory cytokines as diagnostic biomarkers for anti-tuberculosis drug -induced liver injury (ATB-DILI). We collected the residual serum from the patients who met the criteria after liver function tests. We have examined these parameters including GLDH which were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and cytokines which were determined by cytokine combination detection kit. Multivariate logistics stepwise forward regression was applied to establish regression models. A total of 138 tuberculosis patients were included in the diagnostic markers study of ATB-DILI, including normal liver function group (n = 108) and ATB-DILI group(n = 30). Serum GLDH, IL-6 and IL-10 levels were significantly increased in the ATB-DILI group. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) curve showed that the area under curve (AUC) of serum GLDH, IL-6 and IL-10 for the diagnosis of ATB-DILI were 0.870, 0.714 and 0.811, respectively. In logistic regression modeling, the AUC of GLDH combined with IL-10 as an ATB-DILI marker is 0.912. Serum IL-6、IL-10 and GLDH levels began to rise preceded the increase in ALT by 7 days, with significant differences in IL-6 compared with 7 days. Serum GLDH, IL-6 and IL-10 levels were correlated with the severity of liver injury. In conclusion, we found that GLDH, IL-6 and IL-10 alone as diagnostic markers of ATB-DILI had good diagnostic efficacy. Logistic regression model established by GLDH and IL-10 had better diagnostic efficacy and IL-6 may be an early predictor of liver injury in the setting of ATB poisoning.

AIMS: To explore the potential value of serum glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH), ferrochelatase (FECH), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and glutathione-S-transferase-α (GST-α) as diagnostic biomarkers for liver injury caused by antituberculosis drugs. METHODS: We established a rat model of isoniazide-induced liver injury and recruited 122 hospitalized tuberculosis patients taking antituberculosis drugs. We detected the concentration of GLDH, FECH, HO-1 and GST-α by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. GraphPad Prism8 and SPSS 26.0 were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: In the rat model, serum GLDH concentration gradually increased during isoniazid (INH) administration, while serum FECH, HO-1 and GST-α concentrations significantly increased after INH administration was stopped. The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the areas under the curve (AUCs) of serum GLDH and FECH for the diagnosis of anti-tuberculosis (TB) drug-induced liver injury (anti-TB-DILI) were 0.7692 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.5442-0.9943) and 0.7284 (95% CI 0.4863-0.9705) and the diagnostic accuracies were 81.25% and 78.79%, respectively. In clinical research, the AUCs of GLDH and FECH were 0.9124 (95% CI 0.8380-0.9867) and 0.6634 (95% CI 0.5391-0.7877), and the optimal thresholds were 10.40 mIU/mL and 1.304 ng/mL, respectively. The diagnostic accuracy, specificity and positive predictive value (PPV) of GLDH were 82.61%, 79.38% and 47.22%. We performed a joint diagnostic test for GLDH and FECH. The diagnostic accuracy (90.43%), specificity (91.75%) and PPV (65.21%) of serial tests were better than for GLDH and FECH alone. CONCLUSIONS: GLDH in the diagnosis of liver injury induced by anti-TB drugs has high sensitivity, but low specificity and low PPV. The combination of GLDH and FECH could significantly improve the specificity, PPV and diagnostic accuracy, and reduce the false-positive rate of anti-TB-DILI.

BACKGROUND: Deep learning has been successfully applied to low-dose CT (LDCT) denoising. But the training of the model is very dependent on an appropriate loss function. Existing denoising models often use per-pixel loss, including mean abs error (MAE) and mean square error (MSE). This ignores the difference in denoising difficulty between different regions of the CT images and leads to the loss of large texture information in the generated image. PURPOSE: In this paper, we propose a new hybrid loss function that adapts to the noise in different regions of CT images to balance the denoising difficulty and preserve texture details, thus acquiring CT images with high-quality diagnostic value using LDCT images, providing strong support for condition diagnosis. METHODS: We propose a hybrid loss function consisting of weighted patch loss (WPLoss) and high-frequency information loss (HFLoss). To enhance the model's denoising ability of the local areas which are difficult to denoise, we improve the MAE to obtain WPLoss. After the generated image and the target image are divided into several patches, the loss weight of each patch is adaptively and dynamically adjusted according to its loss ratio. In addition, considering that texture details are contained in the high-frequency information of the image, we use HFLoss to calculate the difference between CT images in the high-frequency information part. RESULTS: Our hybrid loss function improves the denoising performance of several models in the experiment, and obtains a higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM). Moreover, through visual inspection of the generated results of the comparison experiment, the proposed hybrid function can effectively suppress noise and retain image details. CONCLUSIONS: We propose a hybrid loss function for LDCT image denoising, which has good interpretation properties and can improve the denoising performance of existing models. And the validation results of multiple models using different datasets show that it has good generalization ability. By using this loss function, high-quality CT images with low radiation are achieved, which can avoid the hazards caused by radiation and ensure the disease diagnosis for patients.

Organic nitrates are broadly applied as pharmaceuticals (acting as efficient nitric oxide donor), energetic materials, building blocks in organic synthesis, etc. However, practical and direct methods to access organic nitrates efficiently are still rare, mainly due to the lack of powerful nitrooxylating reagents. Herein, we report bench-stable and highly reactive noncyclic hypervalent iodine nitrooxylating reagents, oxybis(aryl-λ3 -iodanediyl) dinitrates (OAIDNs, 2), which are prepared just by using aryliodine diacetate and HNO3 . The reagents are used to achieve a mild and operationally simple protocol to access diverse organic nitrates. By employing of 2, zinc-catalyzed regioselective nitrooxylation of cyclopropyl silyl ethers is realized efficiently to access the corresponding ß-nitrooxy ketones with high functional-group tolerance. Moreover, a series of direct and catalyst-free nitrooxylations of enolizable C-H bonds are carried out smoothly to afford the desired organic nitrates within minutes by just mixing the substrates with 2 in dichloromethane.

Bamlanivimab is routinely used in the treatment of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide. We performed a meta-analysis to investigate the efficacy and safety of bamlanivimab treatment in patients with COVID-19. We searched articles from Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and medRxiv between January 30, 2020 and August 5, 2021. We selected randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and observational studies with a control group to assess the efficiency of bamlanivimab in treating patients with COVID-19. Our meta-analysis retrieved three RCTs and seven cohort studies including 14 461 patients. Bmlanivimab may help outpatients to prevent hospitalization or emergency department visits (RR 0.41, 95%CI 0.29-0.58), reduce ICU admission (RR 0.47, 95%CI 0.23-0.92), and mortality (RR 0.32, 95%CI 0.13-0.77) from the disease. The combination of bamlanivimab and etesevimab may have a greater potential for positive treatment outcomes. Bamlanivimab has demonstrated clinical efficacy on mild or moderate ill patients with COVID-19 to prevent hospitalization, reduce severity, and mortality from the disease. Combinations of bamlanivimab and etesevimab have a significant relative risk reduction for COVID-related hospitalization or death for patients than the monotherapy 700 mg group. Well-designed clinical trials to identify the clinical and biochemical characteristics in the COVID-19 patients' population that could benefit from bamlanivimab or plus etesevimab are warranted in the future.

As a serious infectious disease, tuberculosis threatens global public health. Isoniazid is the first-line drug not only in active tuberculosis but also in its prevention. Severe hepatotoxicity greatly limits its use. Curcumin, extracted from turmeric, has been found to relieve isoniazid-induced hepatotoxicity. However, the mechanism of isoniazid-induced hepatotoxicity and the protective effects of curcumin are not yet understood completely. We established both cell and animal models about isoniazid-induced hepatotoxicity and investigated the new mechanism of curcumin against isoniazid-induced liver injury. The experimental data in our study demonstrated that curcumin ameliorated isoniazid-mediated liver oxidative stress. The protective effects of curcumin were demonstrated and confirmed to be correlated with upregulating SIRT1/PGC-1α/NRF1 pathway. Western blot revealed that while inhibiting SIRT1 by the siRNA1 (a SIRT1 inhibitor), the expressions of SIRT1, PGC-1α/Ac-PGC-1α, and NRF1 decreased, and the protective effect that curcumin exerted on isoniazid-treated L-02 cells was significantly attenuated. Furthermore, curcumin improved liver functions and reduced necrosis of the isoniazid-treated BALB/c mice, accompanied by downregulating oxidative stress and inflammation in liver. Western blot revealed that curcumin treatment activates the SIRT1/PGC-1α/NRF1 pathway in the isoniazid-treated BALB/c mice. In conclusion, we found one mechanism of isoniazid-induced hepatotoxicity downregulating the SIRT1/PGC-1α/NRF1 pathway, and curcumin attenuated this hepatotoxicity by activating it. Our study provided a novel approach and mechanism for the treatment of isoniazid-induced hepatotoxicity.

Isoniazid (INH)-induced liver injury is a great challenge for tuberculosis treatment. Existing biomarkers cannot accurately determine the occurrence of this injury in the early stage. Therefore, developing early specific sensitive biomarkers of INH-induced liver injury is urgent. A rat model of liver injury was established with gastric infusion of INH or INH plus rifampicin (RFP). We examined seven potential novel serum biomarkers, namely, glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH), liver-fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP), high-mobility group box-1 (HMGB1), macrophage colony-stimulating factor receptor (MCSF1R), osteopontin (OPN), total cytokeratin 18 (K18), and caspase-cleaved cytokeratin-18 (ccK18), to evaluate their sensitivity and specificity on INH-induced liver injury. With the increase of drug dosage, combining with RFP and prolonging duration of administration, the liver injury was aggravated, showing as decreased weight of the rats, upgraded liver index and oxidative stress level, and histopathological changes of liver becoming marked. But the activity of serum aminotransferases decreased significantly. The area under the curve (AUC) of receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve of OPN, L-FABP, HMGB1, MCSF1R, and GLDH was 0.88, 0.87, 0.85, 0.71, and 0.70 (≥0.7), respectively, and 95% confidence interval of them did not include 0.5, with statistical significance, indicating their potential abilities to become biomarkers of INH-induced liver injury. In conclusion, we found traditional biomarkers ALT and AST were insufficient to discover the INH-induced liver injury accurately and OPN, L-FABP, and HMGB1 can be promising novel biomarkers.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this article was to investigate the relationship between statins and the risk of different stages or grades of prostate cancer. METHODS: A comprehensive literature search was performed for articles published until December 18, 2020, on the PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases. The pooled relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were then analyzed using the STATA.16.0 software. RESULTS: A total of 588,055 patients from 14 studies were included in the analysis. We found that the use of statins expressed a significant correlation with a lower risk of advanced prostate cancer (RR = 0.81, 95% CI: 0.73-0.91; RR = 0.86, 95% CI: 0.75-0.99, respectively). However, no evidence suggested that the use of statins was beneficial for the prevention of localized prostate cancer incidence. Similarly, the pooled results also revealed no association between the use of statins and the risk of high-grade and low-grade prostate cancer. CONCLUSION: It has been found that the use of statins is associated with a lower risk of advanced prostate cancer but was not related to the risk of localized, low-grade, or high-grade prostate cancer.

Abscisic acid (ABA) regulates plant stress responses and development. However, how the ABA signal is transmitted in response to stresses remains largely unclear, especially in monocots. In this study, we found that rice (Oryza sativa) OsPM1 (PLASMA MEMBRANE PROTEIN1), encoded by a gene of AWPM-19 like family, mediates ABA influx through the plasma membrane. OsPM1 is predominantly expressed in vascular tissues, guard cells, and mature embryos. Phenotypic analysis of overexpression, RNA interference (RNAi), and knockout (KO) lines showed that OsPM1 is involved in drought responses and seed germination regulation. 3H-(±)ABA transport activity and fluorescence resonance energy transfer assays both demonstrated that OsPM1 facilitates ABA uptake into cells. The physiological isomer of ABA, (+)-ABA, is the preferred substrate of OsPM1. Higher ABA accumulation and faster stomatal closure in response to ABA treatment were observed in the overexpression lines compared with the wild-type control. Many ABA-responsive genes were upregulated more in the OsPM1-overexpression lines but less in the RNAi lines compared with wild-type plants. Further investigation revealed that OsPM1 expression is regulated by the AREB/ABF family transcription factor OsbZIP46. Our results thus revealed that OsPM1 is an ABA influx carrier that plays an important role in drought responses.

Pseudorabies, caused by pseudorabies virus (PRV) variants, has broken out among commercial PRV vaccine-immunized swine herds and resulted in major economic losses to the pig industry in China since late 2011. However, the mechanism of virulence enhancement of variant PRV is currently unclear. Here, a recombinant PRV (rPRV HN1201-EGFP-Luc) with stable expression of enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and firefly luciferase as a double reporter virus was constructed on the basis of the PRV variant HN1201 through CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology coupled with two sgRNAs. The biological characteristics of the recombinant virus and its lethality to mice were similar to those of the parental strain and displayed a stable viral titre and luciferase activity through 20 passages. Moreover, bioluminescence signals were detected in mice at 12 h after rPRV HN1201-EGFP-Luc infection. Using the double reporter PRV, we also found that 25-hydroxycholesterol had a significant inhibitory effect on PRV both in vivo and in vitro. These results suggested that the double reporter PRV based on PRV variant HN1201 should be an excellent tool for basic virology studies and evaluating antiviral agents.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are reported to involve in pathogenesis of temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). miR-142-5p is found increased in TLE, but its role remains unknown. In the study, we established a mouse model of status epilepticus (SE) with pilocarpine and a cell model of TLE. Quantitative real-time PCR revealed an up-regulation of miR-142-5p and down-regulation of mitochondrial Rho 1 (Miro1) in the mouse mode of SE. Administration of miR-142-5p antagomirs via intracerebroventricular injection attenuated pilocarpine-induced SE and hippocampal damage, and alleviated mitochondrial dysfunction along with increased mitochondrial membrane potential and intracellular ATP and Ca (2+) levels. The expression of mitochondrial trafficking kinesin protein (Trak) 1 and Trak2 was up-regulated by inhibiting miR-142-5p. Antagomirs targeting miR-142-5p suppressed pilocarpine-induced oxidative stress as evidenced by decreased ROS generation and MPO activity, and increased SOD activity. Silencing miR-142-5p reduced neuronal death in pilocarpine-treated hippocampus and magnesium-free (MGF)-treated neurons. Inhibition of miR-142-5p decreased cytoplasmic Cytochrome C and increased mitochondrial Cytochrome C, reduced cleaved-caspase3 and Bax levels, and elevated Bcl2 in vivo and in vitro. Further, dual-luciferase assay verified Miro1 as a target of miR-142-5p, suggesting that miR-142-5p might function via targeting Mrio1. Depletion of Miro1 inhibited the protective effect of silencing miR-142-5p on hippocampal neurons in vitro. Taken together, down-regulation of miR-142-5p via targeting Miro1 inhibits neuronal death and mitochondrial dysfunction, and thus attenuates pilocarpine-induced SE, suggesting the potential involvement of miR-142-5p in the pathogenesis of TLE.

BACKGROUND: Poly (ADP-ribosyl) ation (PARylation) is an important posttranslational modification that regulates DNA repair, gene transcription, stress responses and developmental processes in multicellular organisms. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) catalyzes PARylation by consecutively adding ADP-ribose moieties from NAD+ to the amino acid receptor residues on target proteins. Arabidopsis has three canonical PARP members, and two of these members, AtPARP1 and AtPARP2, have been demonstrated to be bona fide poly (ADP-ribose) polymerases and to regulate DNA repair and stress response processes. However, it remains unknown whether AtPARP3, a member that is highly expressed in seeds, has similar biochemical activity to that of AtPARP1 and AtPARP2. Additionally, although both the phylogenetic relationships and structural similarities indicate that AtPARP1 and AtPARP2 correspond to animal PARP1 and PARP2, respectively, two previous studies have indicated that AtPARP2, and not AtPARP1, accounts for most of the PARP activity in Arabidopsis, which is contrary to the knowledge that PARP1 is the predominant PARP in animals. RESULTS: In this study, we obtained both in vitro and in vivo evidence demonstrating that AtPARP3 does not act as a typical PARP in Arabidopsis. Domain swapping and point mutation assays indicated that AtPARP3 has lost NAD+-binding capability and is inactive. In addition, our results showed that AtPARP1 was responsible for most of the PARP enzymatic activity in response to the DNA damage-inducing agents zeocin and methyl methanesulfonate (MMS) and was more rapidly activated than AtPARP2, which supports that AtPARP1 remains the predominant PARP member in Arabidopsis. AtPARP1 might first become activated by binding to damaged sites, and AtPARP2 is then poly (ADP-ribosyl) ated by AtPARP1 in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: Collectively, our biochemical and genetic analysis results strongly support the notion that AtPARP3 has lost poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase activity in plants and performs different functions from those of AtPARP1 and AtPARP2. AtPARP1, instead of AtPARP2, plays the predominant role in PAR synthesis in both seeds and seedlings. These data bring new insights into our understanding of the physiological functions of plant PARP family members.

An L1024F substitution in the para gene, which encodes a subunit of the voltage-gated sodium channel, has been implicated in pyrethroid resistance in a mite pest, Halotydeus destructor, which attacks rape and other grain crops. A high-resolution melt (HRM) genotyping assay was developed for testing the relative pyrethroid susceptibility of different para genotypes and for high-throughput field screening of resistant alleles. The L1024F mutation was found to be incompletely recessive in phenotypic laboratory bioassays with the pyrethroid pesticide, bifenthrin. While the resistance ratio of heterozygotes (RS) to susceptible homozygotes (SS) was <6 in 24 h bioassays, the resistant homozygotes (RR) (with a resistance ratio > 200,000) survived the recommended field rate of bifenthrin (100 mgL-1). HRM genotyping of mites from field populations across Australia indicated the presence of resistant alleles in Western Australia and South Australia, but not in Victoria and New South Wales. The assay developed will be useful for routine screening of pyrethroid resistance, and the dominance relationships established here point to useful resistance management strategies involving the maintenance of reservoirs of susceptible mites to dilute resistant homozygotes in a population.

KEY MESSAGE: An ERF transcription factor OsERF101 is predominantly expressed in rice reproductive tissues and plays an important role in improving rice seed setting rate under drought stress. Drought reduces grain yield due to the cumulative damage effects to plant vegetative and reproductive developmental processes. However, the genes involved in these processes are still not completely understood. In this study, we identified a gene named OsERF101 as an important positive regulator in the adaptive responses to dehydration stress during the reproductive and vegetative stages. This gene encodes a member of APETALA2/Ethylene-Responsive Element Binding Protein (AP2/EREBP) family. OsERF101 was predominantly expressed in flowers, particularly in the tapetum and microspores under normal growth conditions. It was induced by drought, PEG6000 and abscisic acid (ABA) in leaves. During the vegetative stage, OsERF101-overexpression plants were more resistant to osmotic stress caused by PEG6000 compared to the control plants. They also had higher survival and seed setting rates than wild type when subjected to reproductive-stage drought stress. Further physiological analysis revealed that the pollen fertility was improved in the overexpression lines, while the knockout mutant and RNAi lines showed reduced pollen fertility and compromised drought tolerance during the reproductive stage. The increased proline content and peroxidase activity in OsERF101-overexpression plants might contribute to the improved drought-tolerance of plants. In addition, OsERF101-overexpression plants displayed ABA susceptible phenotype, in which the expression levels of ABA-responsive genes RD22, LEA3, and PODs were up-regulated. Taken together, our results indicate that OsERF101 is a gene that regulates dehydration responses during the vegetative and reproductive stages.

RATIONALE: Aortic aneurysm is a life-threatening cardiovascular disorder caused by the predisposition for dissection and rupture. Genetic studies have proved the involvement of the transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß) pathway in aortic aneurysm. Smad4 is the central mediator of the canonical TGF-ß signaling pathway. However, the exact role of Smad4 in smooth muscle cells (SMCs) leading to the pathogenesis of aortic aneurysms is largely unknown. OBJECTIVE: To determine the role of smooth muscle Smad4 in the pathogenesis of aortic aneurysms. METHODS AND RESULTS: Conditional gene knockout strategy combined with histology and expression analysis showed that Smad4 or TGF-ß receptor type II deficiency in SMCs led to the occurrence of aortic aneurysms along with an upregulation of cathepsin S and matrix metallopeptidase-12, which are proteases essential for elastin degradation. We further demonstrated a previously unknown downregulation of matrix metallopeptidase-12 by TGF-ß in the aortic SMCs, which is largely abrogated in the absence of Smad4. Chemotactic assay and pharmacologic treatment demonstrated that Smad4-deficient SMCs directly triggered aortic wall inflammation via the excessive production of chemokines to recruit macrophages. Monocyte/macrophage depletion or blocking selective chemokine axis largely abrogated the progression of aortic aneurysm caused by Smad4 deficiency in SMCs. CONCLUSIONS: The findings reveal that Smad4-dependent TGF-ß signaling in SMCs protects against aortic aneurysm formation and dissection. The data also suggest important implications for novel therapeutic strategies to limit the progression of the aneurysm resulting from TGF-ß signaling loss-of-function mutations.

An efficient route to construct 2,5-disubstituted tetrazole hemiaminal silyl ethers via one-pot three-component hemiaminal silylation of 5-substituted tetrazoles, aldehydes, and silyl triflates was developed. Diverse 2,5-disubstituted tetrazole hemiaminal silyl ethers were obtained with 37 : 63->99 : 1 regioisomeric ratios. The regioselectivities of this reaction were significantly affected by steric hindrance and the conjugation effects of substitutions on the 5-position of tetrazoles.

In the present work, the successful fabrication of highly sensitive formaldehyde sensor based on ZnO doped Pd and Pt nanoparticles. The Pt-Pt/ZnO has been synthesized through a simple, facile and rapid method and characterized by several techniques. The fabricated Pt-Pt/ZnO exhibited a very high HCHO gas sensor response of 289.2 to 10 ppm, good selectivity and experimental detection limit of 0.5 ppm at room temperature. Response and recovery times for formaldehyde are 96 s and 46 s, respectively, at room temperature. Therefore, Pt-Pt/ZnO is a promising application in the field of detection of formaldehyde.
