RESUMEN
Primary lymphoma of the lung is a rare pathological condition arising from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT). The lack of specific symptoms and the related diagnostic problems induced the authors to report a clinical case recently observed. Therefore, some histopathologic characteristics useful for a correct differential diagnosis with the pseudolymphoma of the lung and the interstitial lymphocyte pneumonia are analysed.

A 12-year experience with 154 laparosplenectomies for Hodgkin's lymphoma is reported. In 92 patients the clinical staging was confirmed, in 48 it was worsened, while in 14 it was improved. Therefore it is concluded that laparosplenectomy is still necessary for a proper assessment of clinical staging as well as for a correct therapeutic approach and prognosis in Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Eight cases of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, representing 0.96% of overall hyperfunctioning thyroid diseases (835), surgically treated are reported. Clinical and pathological data, and type of treatment are summarized. The etiopathogenic hypotheses about possible relations between thyrotoxicosis and thyroid cancer are discussed. In the presence of thyrotoxicosis, preoperative diagnosis of thyroid cancer is rather difficult, but awareness of the potential association and careful examination of any suspect nodularity make it possible to recognize minimal malignant foci and adequately treat them with total thyroidectomy and, when required, modified neck dissection.
