RESUMEN

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) stand at the forefront of photovoltaic research, with current efficiencies surpassing 26.1%. This review critically examines the role of electron transport materials (ETMs) in enhancing the performance and longevity of PSCs. It presents an integrated overview of recent advancements in ETMs, like TiO2, ZnO, SnO2, fullerenes, non-fullerene polymers, and small molecules. Critical challenges are regulated grain structure, defect passivation techniques, energy level alignment, and interfacial engineering. Furthermore, the review highlights innovative materials that promise to redefine charge transport in PSCs. A detailed comparison of state-of-the-art ETMs elucidates their effectiveness in different perovskite systems. This review endeavors to inform the strategic enhancement and development of n-type electron transport layers (ETLs), delineating a pathway toward the realization of PSCs with superior efficiency and stability for potential commercial deployment.

RESUMEN

We report intriguing continuous-wave quasi-single-mode random lasing in methylammonium lead bromide (CH3NH3PbBr3) perovskite films synthesized on a patterned sapphire substrate (PSS) under excitation of a 532-nm laser diode. The random laser emission evolves from a typical multi-mode to a quasi-single-mode with increasing pump fluences. The full width at half-maximum of the lasing peak is as narrow as 0.06 nm at ∼547.8 nm, corresponding to a high Q-factor of ∼9000. Such excellent random lasing performance is plausibly ascribed to the exciton resonance in optical absorption at 532 nm and the enhanced optical resonance due to the increased likelihood for randomly scattered light to re-enter the optical loops formed among the perovskite grains by multi-reflection at the perovskite/PSS interfaces. This work demonstrates the promise of single-mode perovskite random lasers by introducing the exciton resonance effect and ingeniously designed periodic nano/micro optical structure.

RESUMEN

Recently, GeSe has emerged as a highly promising photovoltaic absorber material due to its excellent optoelectronic properties, nontoxicity, and high stability. Although many advantages make GeSe well suited for thin-film solar cells, the power conversion efficiency of the GeSe thin-film solar cell is still much below the theoretical maximum efficiency. One of the challenges lies in controlling the crystal orientation of GeSe to enhance solar cell performance. The two-step preparation of GeSe thin films has not yet been reported to grow along the [111] orientation. In this work, we study the effect of a post-annealing treatment on the GeSe thin films and the performance of the solar cells. It was found that amorphous GeSe films can be converted into polycrystalline films with different orientations by changing the post-annealing temperature. [111]-oriented and [100]-oriented GeSe thin films were successfully prepared on the same substrate by optimizing the annealing conditions. With the structure of Au/GeSe/CdS/ITO cell devices, PCEs of 0.14% and 0.16% were ultimately achieved.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of the antiosteoporotic agent zoledronic acid (ZA) on rotator cuff healing and clinical outcomes in patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis. METHODS: We prospectively enrolled 138 female patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis who were scheduled to undergo arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) from March 2020 to March 2021. Patients were randomly allocated to the ZA group (ARCR followed by intravenous ZA infusions at postoperative Day 1 and 1 year later) and the control group (ARCR alone). All patients were followed up for 24 months. Tendon healing was evaluated by ultrasonography at 6 weeks and 24 months after surgery. The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Western Ontario Rotator Cuff (WORC) index, and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for pain were recorded at each follow-up, and the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) was calculated. RESULTS: A total of 124 patients were included in the final analysis, 61 in the ZA group and 63 in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference in participant characteristics between the 2 groups. The ZA group had a significantly higher tendon healing rate than the control group at 2 years after surgery (odds ratio = 5.0; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.4-18.7; P = .014). Regarding clinical outcomes, 100% of patients exceeded the MCID in both groups, and no significant differences were found at 2 years after surgery between the 2 groups (ASES: 2.5 [95% CI, -2.2 to 7.2; P = .291]; WORC index: 4.5 [95% CI, -0.117 to 9.117; P = .056]; NRS: -0.1 [95% CI, -0.3 to 0.1; P = .394]). CONCLUSIONS: Antiosteoporotic treatment with ZA reduced the retear rate but did not significantly influence the clinical outcomes after ARCR in female patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis. Outcomes of ARCR showed good results in both groups and exceeded the MCID. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Level I, randomized controlled trial.

RESUMEN

With the growing emphasis on sustainable development, green policies have become a crucial factor influencing both environmental pollution and the career progression of officials in China and other countries. However, the mechanisms behind this relationship remain unclear. This paper aims to enhance the understanding of how environmental pollution impacts official promotion by analyzing the performance of provincial leaders in China and their incentives to address pollution. Using provincial panel data from 1998 to 2020 and a probit model, our study uncovers significant findings. We demonstrate that the intensified green attention by China's central government has notably reduced the promotion prospects for provincial officials with poor environmental protection records, particularly since 2013. Furthermore, our research extends the analysis of micro-level mechanisms, illustrating how the central government's political incentives effectively influence local environmental governance. This study underscores the central government's capability to leverage its personnel system to achieve desired outcomes in sustainable development.

RESUMEN

This study aims to explore the mechanism of Liujunzi Decoction in the treatment of 4-nitroquinoline-N-oxide(4NQO)-induced esophageal cancer in mice. One hundred mice of 35-45 days were randomized into blank, model, and low-, medium-, and high-concentration(18.2, 36.4, and 54.6 g·kg~(-1), respectively) Liujunzi Decoction groups. The mice in other groups except the blank group had free access to the water containing 100 µg·mL~(-1) 4NQO for 16 weeks for the modeling of esophageal cancer. The mice in the Liujunzi Decoction groups were fed with the diets supplemented with corresponding concentrations of Liujunzi Decoction. The body weight and organ weights were weighed for the calculation of organ indexes. The pathological changes of the esophageal tissue were observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. Ultra performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS) was employed to collect metabolites from mouse serum samples, screen out potential biomarkers, and predict related metabolic pathways. Compared with the blank group, the model group showed decreased spleen and stomach indexes and increased lung, esophagus, and kidney indexes. Compared with the model group, Liujunzi Decoction groups had no significant changes in the organ indexes. The HE staining results showed that Liujunzi Decoction inhibited the invasive growth and cancerization of the esophageal cancer cells. A total of 9 potential biomarkers of Liujunzi Decoction in treating esophageal cancer were screened out in this study, which were urocanic acid, 1-oleoylglycerophosphoserine, 11-deoxy prostaglandin E1, Leu-Glu-Lys-Glu,(±) 4-hydroxy-5E,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z-docosahexaenoic acid, ureidosuccinic acid,(2R)-2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutanoic acid, kynurenic acid, and bicyclo prostaglandin E2, which were mainly involved in histidine, pyrimidine, alanine, aspartate, glutamate, pantothenate and tryptophan metabolism and coenzyme A biosynthesis. In summary, Liujunzi Decoction may exert the therapeutic effect on the 4NQO-induced esophageal cancer in mice by regu-lating the amino acid metabolism, inflammation, and immune function.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignancy and has extremely poor prognosis and outcome. Homo sapiens deoxyribonuclease II (DNASE2) has been reported to participate in HCC progression. Here, the role of DNASE2 in HCC cells and the putative upstream circRNA that mediates DNASE2 expression was investigated. METHODS: The expression of RNAs in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) samples was analyzed by bioinformatic analysis. The proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, and gene expression in HCC cells were investigated using a Cell Counting Kit -8, colony formation, flow cytometry analysis, wound healing, transwell, western blotting, and a quantitative reverse transcriptase-PCR. The binding relationship among circ_0073228, miR-139-5p and DNASE2 was measured by RNA pulldown and luciferase reporter assays. RESULTS: DNASE2 knockdown inhibited proliferation and promoted apoptosis of HCC cells, whereas DNASE2 overexpression showed the opposite results. miR-139-5p targeted DNASE2 and suppressed its expression. Overexpression of miR-139-5p inhibited malignant phenotypes of HCC cells. RPS23-derived circ_0073228, which bound to miR-139-5p, was found to be upregulated in HCC cells. Inhibition of miR-139-5p or overexpression of DNASE2 counteracted the inhibitory effects of circ_0073228 knockdown on HCC cell progression. CONCLUSIONS: circ_0073228 serves as an oncogene to facilitate growth and inhibit apoptosis of HCC cells by regulating the miR-139-5p/DNASE2 axis.

RESUMEN

Complex vector modes are opening burgeoning opportunities for a wide variety of applications and therefore the flexible manipulation of their various properties has become a topic of late. As such, in this Letter, we demonstrate a longitudinal spin-orbit separation of complex vector modes propagating in free space. To achieve this, we employed the recently demonstrated circular Airy Gaussian vortex vector (CAGVV) modes, which feature a self-focusing property. More precisely, by properly manipulating the intrinsic parameters of CAGVV modes, the strong coupling between the two constituting orthogonal components can be engineered to undergo a spin-orbit separation along the propagation direction. In other words, while one polarization component focuses at one plane, the other focuses at a different plane. Such spin-orbit separation, which we demonstrated by numerical simulations and corroborated experimentally, can be adjusted on-demand by simply changing the initial parameters of the CAGVV mode. Our findings will be of great relevance in applications such as optical tweezers, to manipulate micro- or nano-particles at two different parallel planes.

RESUMEN

Due to the multiple biological activities of polysaccharides, their great potential as "natural drugs" for many diseases has been the subject of continuous exploration in the field of food and nutrition. Apoptosis and autophagy play a key role in mammalian growth, development and maintenance of cellular homeostasis. Recent studies suggest that apoptosis/autophagy may be the key regulatory target for the beneficial effects of polysaccharides. However, the regulation of apoptosis and autophagy by polysaccharides is not consistent in different disease models. Therefore, this review outlined the relationship between apoptosis/autophagy and some common human diseases, then discussed the role of apoptosis/autophagy pathway in the regulation of human health by polysaccharides, Furthermore, the application of visualization, imaging and multi-omics techniques was proposed in the future trend. The present review may be beneficial to accelerate our understanding of the anti-disease mechanisms of polysaccharides, and promote the development and utilization of polysaccharides.

RESUMEN

Manipulation of polarization states in a complex structured optical field during propagation has become an important topic due to its fundamental interest and potential applications. This work demonstrates the effect of the caustic and twisting phases on the polarization states of a vector beam experimentally and theoretically. The novel properties of polarization evolution, especially the conversions of different states of polarization (SoPs) in a twisted caustic vector beam, occur during propagation in free space because of the modulation of twisting and caustic phases. The orthogonal polarization components tend to appear on the beam centers of two foci, and the two focal distances are closely related to the caustic and twisting phases. The twisting and caustic phases can manipulate the conversions between linear and circular polarization components that occur during propagation. These results provide a new approach to more complex manipulations of a structured optical field, especially in tailoring the evolution of polarization states and two foci. They may find potential applications in the corresponding field.

RESUMEN

A microscope usually consists of dozens of complex lenses and requires careful assembly, alignment, and testing before use. Chromatic aberration correction is a significant step in the design of microscopes. Reducing chromatic aberration by improving optical design will inevitably increase the overall weight and size of the microscope, leading to more cost in manufacturing and maintenance. Nevertheless, the improvement in hardware can only achieve limited correction. In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on cross-channel information alignment to shift some of the correction tasks from optical design to post-processing. Additionally, a quantitative framework is established to evaluate the performance of the chromatic aberration algorithm. Our algorithm outperforms the other state-of-the-art methods in both visual appearance and objective assessments. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can effectively obtain higher-quality images without changing the hardware or engaging the optical parameters.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent world-wide malignancies. Half of the newly developed HCC occurs in China. Optimizing the strategies for high-risk surveillance and early diagnosis are pivotal for improving 5-year survival. Constructing the scientific non-invasive detection technologies feasible for medical and healthcare institutions is among the key routes for elevating the efficacies of HCC identification and follow-up. RESULTS: Based on the Chinese and international guidelines, expert consensus statements, literatures and evidence-based clinical practice experiences, this consensus statement puts forward the clinical implications, application subjects, detection techniques and results interpretations of the triple-biomarker (AFP, AFP-L3%, DCP) based GALAD, GALAD like models for liver cancer. CONCLUSIONS: The compile of this consensus statement aims to address and push the reasonable application of the triple-biomarker (AFP, AFP-L3%, DCP) detections thus to maximize the clinical benefits and help improving the high risk surveillance, early diagnosis and prognosis of HCC.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the potential effect of EphrinB2 in human thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) and to illustrate the mechanisms governing the role of EphrinB2 in the growth of human aortic smooth muscle cells (HASMC). METHODS: In the study, EphrinB2 expression was investigated by qRT-PCR and immunohistochemistry in 12 pairs of TAD and adjacent human tissues. HASMCs were used for in vitro experiments. Next, EphrinB2 overexpression and depletion in HASMCs were established by EphrinB2-overexpressing vectors and small interfering RNA, respectively. The transfection efficiency was evaluated by qRT-PCR and Western blot. The effects of overexpression and depletion of EphrinB2 on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion were tested in vitro. Cell Counting Kit-8, flow cytometry and transwell migration/invasion, and wound healing assay were used to explore the function of EphrinB2 on HASMC cell lines. The relationship between EphrinB2 and F-actin was assessed by Western blot, immunofluorescence, and Co-IP. RESULTS: We found that EphrinB2 was a prognostic biomarker of TAD patients. Moreover, EphrinB2 expression negatively correlated to aortic dissection tissues, and disease incidence of males, suggesting that EphrinB2 might act as a TAD suppressor by promoting proliferation or decreasing apoptosis in HASMC. Next, over-expression of EphrinB2 in HASMC lines drove cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and inhibited apoptosis while knockdown EphrinB2 showed the opposite phenomenon, respectively. Furthermore, the level of F-actin in mRNA, protein, and distribution in HASMC cell lines highly matched with the expression of EphrinB2, which indicated that EphrinB2 could mediate the HASMC cytoskeleton via inducing F-actin. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, our results first provided the pivotal role of EphrinB2 in HASMC proliferation initiated by mediating F-actin and demonstrated a prognostic biomarker and the potential targets for therapy to prevent thoracic aortic dissection.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Due to the high prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in China, the incidence of HCC in China is high, and liver cirrhosis caused by chronic hepatitis also brings great challenges to treatment. This paper reviewed the latest research progress on minimally invasive treatments for HCC, including percutaneous thermal ablation and new nonthermal ablation techniques, and introduced the principles, advantages, and clinical applications of various therapeutic methods in detail. DATA SOURCES: The data of treatments for HCC were systematically collected from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, American Chemical Society and Web of Science databases published in English, using "minimally invasive" and "hepatocellular carcinoma" or "liver cancer" as the keywords. RESULTS: Percutaneous thermal ablation is still a first-line strategy for the minimally invasive treatment of HCC. The effect of microwave ablation (MWA) on downgrading treatment before liver transplantation is better than that of radiofrequency ablation (RFA), while RFA is more widely used in the clinical practice. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is mainly used for the palliative treatment of advanced liver cancer. Electrochemotherapy (ECT) delivers chemotherapeutic drugs to the target cells while reducing the blood supply around HCC. Irreversible electroporation (IRE) uses a microsecond-pulsed electric field that induces apoptosis and necrosis and triggers a systemic immune response. The nanosecond pulsed electric field (nsPEF) has achieved a good response in the ablation of mice with HCC, but it has not been reported in China for the treatment of human HCC. CONCLUSIONS: A variety of minimally invasive treatments provide a sufficient survival advantage for HCC patients. Nonthermal ablation will lead to a new wave with its unique advantage of antitumor recurrence and metastasis.

RESUMEN

Traditional macrocyclic molecules encode recognition sites in their structural backbones, which limits the variation of the recognition sites and thus, would restrict the adjustment of recognition properties. Here, we report a new oligoamide-based macrocycle capable of varying the recognition functional groups by post-synthesis modification on its structural backbone. Through six steps of common reactions, the parent macrocycle (9) can be produced in gram scale with an overall yield of 31%. The post-synthesis modification of 9 to vary the recognition sites are demonstrated by producing four different macrocycles (10-13) with distinct functional groups, 2-methoxyethoxyl (10), hydroxyl (11), carboxyl (12) and amide (13), respectively. The 1H NMR study suggests that the structure of these macrocycles is consistent with our design, i.e., forming hydrogen bonding network at both rims of the macrocyclic backbone. The 1H-1H NOESY NMR study indicates the recognition functional groups are located inside the cavity of macrocycles. At last, a preliminary molecular recognition study shows 10 can recognize n-octyl-ß-D-glucopyranoside (14) in chloroform.

RESUMEN

A general and mild nickel-catalyzed enantioselective C(sp2 )-P cross-coupling for synthesizing P-stereogenic phosphine oxides has been developed. The asymmetric alkenylation/arylation of racemic secondary phosphine oxides with alkenyl/aryl bromides generated P-stereogenic phosphine oxides with high yields and enantioselectivities. Various functional groups were tolerated, and the applications of this method were demonstrated through late-stage functionalization and product transformations.

RESUMEN

The inability to re-process thermosets hinders their utility and sustainability. An ideal material should combine closed-loop recycling and upcycling capabilities. This trait is realized in polydimethylsiloxane bottlebrush networks using thermoreversible Diels-Alder cycloadditions to enable both reversible disassembly into a polymer melt and on-demand reconfiguration to an elastomer of either lower or higher stiffness. The crosslink density was tuned by loading the functionalized networks with a controlled fraction of dormant crosslinkers and crosslinker scavengers, such as furan-capped bis-maleimide and anthracene, respectively. The resulting modulus variations precisely followed the stoichiometry of activated furan and maleimide moieties, demonstrating the lack of side reactions during reprocessing. The presented circularity concept is independent from the backbone or side chain chemistry, making it potentially applicable to a wide range of brush-like polymers.

RESUMEN

Prostate cancer ranks among the most commonly diagnosed malignancies for men and has become a non-negligible threat for public health. Interplay between inflammatory factors and cancer cells renders inflammatory tissue environment as a predisposing condition for cancer development. The Hippo pathway is a conserved signaling pathway across multiple species during evolution that regulates tissue homeostasis and organ development. Nevertheless, whether Hippo pathway regulates cancer-related inflammatory factors remains elusive. Here, we show that high cell density-mediated activation of the Hippo pathway blunts STAT3 activity in prostate cancer cells. Hippo pathway component MST2 kinase phosphorylates STAT3 at T622, which is located in the SH2 domain of STAT3. This phosphorylation blocks the SH2 domain in one STAT3 molecule to bind with the phosphorylated Y705 site in another STAT3 molecule, which further counteracts IL6-induced STAT3 dimerization and activation. Expression of a nonphosphorylatable STAT3 T622A mutant enhances STAT3 activity and IL6 expression at high cell density and promotes tumor growth in a mice xenograft model. Our findings demonstrate that STAT3 is a novel phosphorylation substrate for MST2 and thereby highlight a regulatory cascade underlying the crosstalk between inflammation and the Hippo pathway in prostate cancer cells.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Accumulating evidence suggests that LINC00511 acts as an oncogenic long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in various cancers, including lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Hence, we attempted to elucidate the potential role of LINC00511 in LUAD. METHODS: LINC00511, miR-195-5p, and GCNT3 expression in LUAD was detected by qRT-PCR. Changes in the proliferation, migration, and invasion of LUAD cells after abnormal regulation of LINC00511, miR-195-5p, or GCNT3 were detected by CCK-8, BrdU, wound healing, and transwell assays. Bax and Bcl-2 protein expression was measured by western blotting. Additionally, we identified the targeting effects of LINC00511, miR-195-5p, and GCNT3 using luciferase and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays. RESULTS: LINC00511 and GCNT3 were found to be upregulated in LUAD, while miR-195-5p was downregulated. Silencing LINC00511 or GCNT3 decreased the proliferation, migration, invasion, and Bcl-2 protein content in LUAD cells and increased the expression of Bax. Interference with miR-195-5p promoted malignant proliferation of cancer cells. miR-195-5p expression was affected by LINC00511and targeted GCNT3. CONCLUSION: Silencing LINC00511 promotes GCNT3 expression by inhibiting miR-195-5p and ultimately stimulates the malignant progression of LUAD.

RESUMEN

Dark-field scattering imaging is an imaging method with high contrast and high sensitivity. It has been widely employed in optical components evaluation, biomedical detection, semiconductor manufacturing, etc. However, useless background information causes data redundancy, which increases unnecessary time-space costs in processing. Furthermore, the problem is particularly serious in high-resolution imaging systems for large-aperture components. The dark-field scattering image compression (DFSIC) based on the compressed sparse row is proposed to solve this problem. The compression method realizes local data access for a sparse matrix. The result of the experiments shows that the average time-space consumption of the DFSIC is reduced to less than 2%, compared with the raw image structure, and is still kept below 68% in dense cases. This method provides a more efficient program implementation for the dark-field scattering imaging and exhibits potential in the application of the optical detection with large scale.
