RESUMEN

Clinically, the immune checkpoint inhibitor anti-PD-1 antibody has shown a certain effect in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is limited to a small number of patients with HCC. This study aims to reveal whether carnosic acid nanocluster-based framework (CA-NBF) has a sensitization effect on anti-PD-1 antibody in the treatment of HCC at the cellular and animal levels. MHCC97H cells were treated with CA-NBF, anti-PD-1 and their combination. The effects of CA-NBF and anti-PD-1 on cell proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, invasion, and migration were evaluated by MTT assay, flow cytometry, and scratch test. The effects of CA-NBF and anti-PD-1 on Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in MHCC97H cells were detected. A BALB/C nude mouse model of hepatocellular carcinoma was established, and the tumor growth was observed at different time points. The expression of cytotoxic T lymphocyte and helper T lymphocyte markers CD8 and CD4 in tumor tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry. Western blotting was used to detect the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway proteins (Wnt-3a, ß-catenin, and GSK-3ß) level in tumor tissues after CA-NBF and anti-PD-1 treatment. CA-NBF activity was significantly higher than CA, which could prominently reduce the proliferation, migration and invasion of MHCC97H cells and enhance apoptosis by inactivating Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway. CA-NBF combined with anti-PD-1 antibody further enhanced cell proliferation, migration, invasion and pro-apoptosis but had no significant effect on Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway. CA-NBF in vivo improved the tumor response to PD1 immune checkpoint blockade in HCC, manifested by reducing tumor size and weight, promoting CD4 and CD8 expression. CA-NBF combined with anti-PD-1 have stronger immunomodulatory and anticancer effects without increasing biological toxicity.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Arterial baroreflex dysfunction, like many other central nervous system disorders, involves disruption of the blood-brain barrier, but what causes such disruption in ABR dysfunction is unclear. Here we explored the potential role of platelets in this disruption. METHODS: ABR dysfunction was induced in rats using sinoaortic denervation, and the effects on integrity of the blood-brain barrier were explored based on leakage of Evans blue or FITC-dextran, while the effects on expression of CD40L in platelets and of key proteins in microvascular endothelial cells were explored using immunohistochemistry, western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Similar experiments were carried out in rat brain microvascular endothelial cell line, which we exposed to platelets taken from rats with ABR dysfunction. RESULTS: Sinoaortic denervation permeabilized the blood-brain barrier and downregulated zonula occludens-1 and occludin in rat brain, while upregulating expression of CD40L on the surface of platelets and stimulating platelet aggregation. Similar effects of permeabilization and downregulation were observed in healthy rats that received platelets from animals with ABR dysfunction, and in rat brain microvascular endothelial cells, but only in the presence of lipopolysaccharide. These effects were associated with activation of NF-κB signaling and upregulation of matrix metalloprotease-9. These effects of platelets from animals with ABR dysfunction were partially blocked by neutralizing antibody against CD40L or the platelet inhibitor clopidogrel. CONCLUSION: During ABR dysfunction, platelets may disrupt the blood-brain barrier when CD40L on their surface activates NF-kB signaling within cerebral microvascular endothelial cells, leading to upregulation of matrix metalloprotease-9. Our findings imply that targeting CD40L may be effective against cerebral diseases involving ABR dysfunction.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: The safety and the benefits of reducing the risk of bleeding complications via protamine administration during the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains unclear. This study aimed to systematically assessed the efficacy and safety of using protamine in PCI. METHOD: Potential academic studies were identified from PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Web of Science. The time range we retrieved from was that from the inception of electronic databases to March 31, 2022. Gray studies were identified from the references of included literature reports. Stata version 12.0 statistical software (StataCorp LP) was used to analyze the pooled data. RESULTS: A total of seven studies were involved in our study. The overall participants of the protamine group were 4983, whereas it was 1953 in the nonprotamine group. This meta-analysis indicated that protamine was preferable for PCI as its lower value of major bleeding (odds ratio [OR] = 0.489, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.362-0.661, p < .001) and minor bleeding (OR = 0.281, 95% CI: 0.123-0.643, p = .003). Additionally, the protamine did not tend to be related a higher incidence of mortality (p = .143), myocardial infarction (p = .990), and stent thrombosis (p = .698). CONCLUSIONS: Based on available evidence, use of protamine may reduce the risk of bleeding complications without increasing the risk of mortality, myocardial infarction, and stent thrombosis. Given the relevant possible biases in our study, adequately powered and better-designed studies with long-term follow-up are required to reach a firmer conclusion.

RESUMEN

Aroma is an important economic trait of vegetable soybeans, which greatly influences their market value. The 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) is considered as an important substance affecting the aroma of plants. Although the 2AP synthesis pathway has been resolved, the differences of the 2AP synthesis in the aromatic and non-aromatic vegetable soybeans are unknown. In this study, a broad targeted metabolome analysis including measurement of metabolites levels and gene expression levels was performed to reveal pathways of aroma formation in the two developmental stages of vegetable soybean grains [35 (S5) and 40 (S6) days after anthesis] of the 'Zhexian No. 8' (ZX8, non-aromatic) and ZK1754 (aromatic). The results showed that the differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) of the two varieties can be classified into nine main categories including flavonoids, lipids, amino acids and derivatives, saccharides and alcohols, organic acids, nucleotides and derivatives, phenolic acids, alkaloids and vitamin, which mainly contributed to their phenotypic differences. Furthermore, in combination with the 2AP synthesis pathway, the differences of amino acids and derivatives were mainly involved in the 2AP synthesis. Furthermore, 2AP precursors' analysis revealed that the accumulation of 2AP mainly occurred from 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate (P5C), not 4-aminobutyraldehyde (GABald). The quantitative RT-PCR showed that the associated synthetic genes were 1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase (P5CDH), ∆1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase (P5CS), proline dehydrogenase (PRODH) and pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase (P5CR), which further verified the synthetic pathway of 2AP. Furthermore, the betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (GmBADH2) mutant was not only vital for the occurrence of 2AP, but also for the synthesis of 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in vegetable soybean. Therefore, the differences of 2AP accumulation in aromatic and non-aromatic vegetable soybeans have been revealed, and it also provides an important theoretical basis for aromatic vegetable soybean breeding.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Lead (Pb) is not an essential element for the growth of tea trees, but it is an important index for evaluating the quality and safety of tea. Lead is a sensitive metal to pH. Exploring the changing trend of soil Pb and enrichment coefficient of Pb in tea leaves affected by soil acidification is significant for tea planting and tea quality safety control. RESULTS: A percent of 37.57% of the 364 tea plantations in Anxi county of China showed soil acidification that is a soil pH value < 4.5. However, the total Pb content in the soil and Pb content of tea leaves met the requirements stipulated in China. The soil available Pb content and Pb content in tea leaves were both significantly negatively correlated with soil pH value, and increased with the decrease of soil pH value. The soil available Pb content had a significant positive correlation with soil total Pb content. However, the soil total Pb content had no significant correlation with soil pH value. Moreover, the soil Pb bio-availability coefficient and the Pb enrichment coefficient of tea leaves decreased with the increase of soil pH value. CONCLUSION: More than a third of tea plantations in Anxi county had been acidified. The decrease of pH value leads to an increase in the bio-availability coefficient of soil Pb content and the enrichment coefficient of Pb content in tea leaves. The lower soil pH value resulted in the increase of the absorption and accumulation of Pb by tea trees, thus an increase of Pb content in tea leaves. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The effectiveness and safety of peginterferon alpha (peg-IFN-α) monotherapy in inactive hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers (IHCs) have not been fully evaluated. METHODS: This observational study prospectively enrolled 298 IHCs in China from 2015 to 2019. Participants were given the right to choose to either receive peg-IFN-α monotherapy (treatment group, n = 142) or be monitored without treatment (control group, n = 156) according to their wishes. The scheduled treatment duration was 48 weeks. All participants were followed up to 72 weeks. The main efficacy endpoint was hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) clearance at 72 weeks. RESULTS: Baseline characteristics were similar between both groups. At 72 weeks, intention-to-treat analysis showed that the rates of HBsAg clearance and seroconversion of the treatment group were 47.9% (68/142) and 36.6% (52/142), respectively, which were significantly higher than the HBsAg clearance rate of 1.9% (3/156) and the seroconversion rate of 0.6% (1/156) in the control group (both P < .001). Baseline HBV DNA < 20 IU/mL, lower HBsAg levels at baseline, 12 and 24 weeks, alanine aminotransferase elevation at 12 weeks, and greater HBsAg reduction from baseline to 12 and 24 weeks were independent predictors of HBsAg clearance. Generally, the therapy was well tolerated. Only five participants discontinued therapy as a result of peg-IFNα-related adverse events. CONCLUSIONS: Peg-IFN-α monotherapy results in high rates of HBsAg clearance and seroconversion and the treatment is safe for IHCs.

RESUMEN

Cardiac complications are leading causes of death in diabetic patients. Imbalance of Ca2+ homeostasis is a hallmark of cardiac dysfunction in diabetes, while TRPV channels are non-selective for cations and are permeable to Ca2+. Our aim was to evaluate the expression levels of TRPV1, TRPV2, TRPV3, TRPV4, TRPV5, and TRPV6 genes and proteins in cardiac tissue at 3 days and 4, 8, and 12 weeks after induction of diabetes. Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to control and DM groups. DM was induced by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg). The expression levels of TRPV genes were analyzed by the quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, and TRPV proteins were determined by western blotting. Compared to controls, the expression levels of TRPV2, TRPV3, and TRPV6 in diabetic myocardium did not change, while TRPV1 decreased at 4, 8, and 12 weeks, TRPV4 was upregulated at 3 days and 4, 8, and 12 weeks, TRPV5 mRNA increased at 8 and 12 weeks, and TRPV5 protein increased at 4, 8, and 12 weeks. Our findings showed that TRPV1, TRPV4, and TRPV5 are associated with the diabetic heart.

RESUMEN

The development of materials integrated with ultrasmall multi-metal nanoparticles (UMMNs) and mesoporous zeolite is a considerable challenge in chemistry and materials science. We designed a trifunctional surfactant, in which the pyridyl benzimidazole in the hydrophobic tail generates the mesopores through π-π stacking; the diquaternary ammonium in the hydrophilic headgroup direct the formation of MFI zeolite sheets and the nitrogen atoms in the heterocyclic rings coordinate with various metal ions to form UMMNs confined in the zeolite matrix after calcination and reduction. A library of 56 UMMNs confined within both micropores and mesopores of MFI zeolites (MMZs) with 4 mono-, 14 bi- and 38 tri-metallic nanoparticles (sizes of 1.3-4.7 nm) of combinations of Rh, Pd, Pt, Au, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn were made. An improved catalytic performance was exhibited in the sequence of Rh-MMZ

RESUMEN

By means of compressive sampling (CS), a sparse signal can be efficiently recovered from its far fewer samples than that required by the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem. However, recovering a speech signal from its CS samples is a challenging problem, as it is not sparse enough on any existing canonical basis. To solve this problem, we propose a method which combines the approximate message passing (AMP) and Markov chain that exploits the dependence between the modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) coefficients of a speech signal. To reconstruct the speech signal from CS samples, a turbo framework, which alternately iterates AMP and belief propagation along the Markov chain, is utilized. In addtion, a constrain is set to the turbo iteration to prevent the new method from divergence. Extensive experiments show that, compared to other traditional CS methods, the new method achieves a higher signal-to-noise ratio, and a higher perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) score. At the same time, it maintaines a better similarity of the energy distribution to the original speech spectrogram. The new method also achieves a comparable speech enhancement effect to the state-of-the-art method.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Rare earth elements (REEs) played an important role in enhancing the yield and quality of tea, and have been widely used in tea cultivation. In the present study, 3011 tea samples of four tea types, namely black tea, green tea, oolong tea and dark tea, were collected from the mainly tea producing areas in different provinces of China to analyze the contents of 16 REEs by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. RESULTS: The results obtained showed that the higher average content of REEs was 2.960 mg kg-1 in black tea from Henan province, 2.500 mg·kg-1 in green tea from Shanxi province, 3.870 mg·kg-1 in oolong tea from Guizhou province and 2.955 mg·kg-1 in dark tea from Hunan province. The sum percentage of five elements (Sc, Y, La, Ce, and Nd) to total REEs was 84.39% in black tea, 85.07% in green tea, 83.67% in oolong tea and 84.42% in dark tea. In addition, the content of Ce in tea was greatest, regardless of the province of China. The content trend of the five REEs was Ce > La > Sc > Nd > Y in black and green tea, respectively. However, the content trend was Ce > Y > Sc > Nd > La in oolong tea and Ce > Y > La > Nd > Sc in dark tea. CONCLUSION: The tea leaves mainly accumulated light REEs rather than heavy REEs. These results provided an important theoretical basis for investigation of the accumulation characteristics of REEs in Chinese tea. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMEN

Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) are essential polycations that play important roles in various physiological and pathophysiological processes in mammalian cells. The study was to investigate their role in cardioprotection against ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and the underlying mechanism. Isolated hearts from male Sprague-Dawley rats were Langendorff-perfused and cardiac I/R was achieved by 30 min of global ischemia followed by 120 min of reperfusion. Different concentrations of polyamines (0.1, 1, 10, and 15 µmol/L of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine), cyclosporin A (0.2 µmol/L), or atractyloside (20 µmol/L) were given 10 min before the onset of reperfusion. The hemodynamics were monitored; the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels in the coronary effluent were measured spectrophotometrically; infarct size was determined by the 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining method; and mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening was determined spectrophotometrically by the Ca2+-induced swelling of isolated cardiac mitochondria. The results showed that compared to I/R alone, 0.1 and 1 µmol/L polyamines treatment improved heart function, reduced LDH release, decreased infarct size, and these effects were inhibited by atractyloside (MPTP activator). In isolated mitochondria from normal rats, 0.1 and 1 µmol/L polyamines treatment inhibited MPTP opening. However, 10 and 15 µmol/L polyamines treatment had the opposite effects, and these effects were inhibited by cyclosporin A (MPTP inhibitor). Our findings showed that polyamines may have either protective or damaging effects on hearts suffering from I/R by inhibiting or activating MPTP opening.

RESUMEN

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) caused by enterovirus 71 (EV71) presents with a wide variety of clinical manifestations. Host immune response is a factor that influences disease susceptibility and severity. We investigated the potential association of gene polymorphisms in the pattern recognition receptor (PRR) pathway with the risk and severity of EV71 infection. A total of 180 EV71 HFMD cases (108 severe case; 72 mild cases) were enrolled. A group of 201 sex- and age-matched children was included as a control. All subjects were genotyped for the most common single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the PRR and the PRR signaling pathway using the SNPscan multiple SNP typing method. Binary logistic regression analysis revealed statistically significant differences in polymorphism of RIG-1 between patients and controls (rs3739674 G vs C: OR = 1.502, 95%CI: 1.120-2.014; rs9695310 G vs C: OR = 1.782, 95%CI: 1.312-2.419). Polymorphisms of RIG-1 rs3739674 (G vs C: OR = 2.047, 95%CI: 1.307-3.205) and TLR3 rs5743305 (A vs T: OR = 0.346, 95%CI: 0.212-0.566) were found to be associated with disease severity. The results indicated that RIG-1 (rs3739674 and rs9695310) polymorphisms are associated with an increased risk of EV71-induced HFMD in Chinese children, whereas RIG-1 rs3739674 and TLR3 rs5743305 polymorphisms are associated with disease severity. These findings support an important role of innate immune mechanism in EV71 infection.

RESUMEN

Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) has been reported to possess the hepatoprotective effect. This study was to investigate the mechanism underlying CAPE against liver fibrosis in a liver fibrosis model induced by toxic carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in male Sprague-Dawley rats and in vitro in CAPE (5 µM, 10 µM, 15 µM) treated hepatic stellate cells (HSC-T6). We found that CAPE treatment remarkably attenuated CCl4-induced liver fibrosis by blocking the activation of HSCs as determined by the expression alternation of transforming growth factor (TGF)-ß1, phosphorylated Smad3 (p-Smad3), collage I, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) 2, tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (TIMPs) 1. The hepatoprotective effects of CAPE were also associated with upregulation of autophasomes in HSCs as determined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) detection. The in vitro study further confrimed that CAPE attenuated liver fibrogenesis via inducing authophagic markers including LC3, ATG5, Beclin 1 expressions, while inhibiting AKT/mTOR signaling in HSC-T6 cells. Thus, the protective effects of CAPE against liver fibrosis might due to the inhibition of TGF-ß1/Smad3 signaling and induction of authophagy in HSCs.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of antiviral treatment in patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection and decompensated cirrhosis and determine the effects of virological response on long-term prognosis. METHODS: Sixty-six consecutive, interferon (IFN)-na(i)ve patients with HCV infection and decompensated cirrhosis were enrolled in this prospective study. All patients were given a 48-to 72-week course of IFN plus ribavirin (RBV) combined therapy, with a low accelerating dosage regimen using either:pegylated (PEG)-IFNa-2b at 1.0-1.5 mug/kg/week,PEG-IFNa-2a at 90-180 mug,or standard IFN-a-2b at 3MU,every other day.RBV was given at 800 to 1000 mg/day. All patients were routinely monitored for adverse drug reactions and virological response.Effects of treatments on patient survival were assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis. RESULTS: At the end of treatment,74.2% of patients were HCV RNA-negative,with 45.5% having achieved sustained virological response and 28.8% having relapsed;the remaining 25.7% of patients showed non-virological response (NVR). Among the patients with HCV genotype 1, 65.9% achieved end-of-treatment virological response (ETVR) and 34.1% achieved SVR;among the patients with HCV genotype 2,90.9% achieved ETVR and 68.2% achieved SVR. The positive and negative predictive values of early virological response (EVR) for ETVR were 95.7% and 75.0% respectively, and for SVR were 65.2% and 100% respectively. Compared with baseline, patients who achieved ETVR had better liver function,as evidenced by changes in levels of total bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase and albumin,as well as prothrombin activity and Child-Pugh score (t =4.564,11.486,2.303,2.699,3.694 respectively, all P less than 0.05).Compared with the NVR patients, the ETVR patients had lower risk of hepatic decompensation and hepatocellular carcinoma, and had improved survival (x2=18.756,6.992,7.580, respectively, all P less than 0.05).Twelve (18.2%) patients experienced serious adverse events, with 10 requiring premature treatment withdrawal and 2 dying. CONCLUSION: Antiviral treatment for patients with HCV infection and decompensated cirrhosis using interferon in a low accelerating dosage regimen in combination with ribavirin is feasible.Patients who achieved ETVR had significantly improved long-term prognosis.

RESUMEN

AIM OF THE STUDY: Pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC) of the lung is a subset of poorly differentiated non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs). Because of its rarity, information on epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS) mutations is controversial and sparse. The aim was to investigate the two key oncogenes' characteristics and their correlation with clinical variables. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We retrospectively screened 110 paraffin-embedded surgically resected specimens from patients with PPC. Of these, follow-up information was available for 48 patients. We then successfully analyzed 70 PPC samples and examined EGFR and KRAS mutation status by direct sequencing. The findings were correlated with a control group of patients with other NSCLCs. RESULTS: In our department, PPC comprised about 1.57% of surgical resected cases (110/6990). 37.4% of patients smoked. EGFR mutations were detected in 11 cases (15.7%), with a significantly higher frequency in women than men (p = 0.011). KRAS mutations were detected in 10 cases (14.3%) and were more often found at age 65 or older (p = 0.02). Of interest, in PPC, all KRAS mutations occurred in never smokers. Also, most never smokers have transversion mutations (G→T) in PPCs and other NSCLCs. CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrated a similar EGFR and KRAS mutation rate in Chinese PPC patients. EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors may be a treatment option for PPCs with EGFR mutations. Of note, EGFR mutations in PPC were commonly identified in women; therefore women should be high-priority candidates for mutation screening.

RESUMEN

Human enterovirus 71 (EV71) is one of the major causes of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), which leads to significant mortality in infected children. A prophylactic vaccine is urgently needed. However, little is known about the protective T-cell immunity in individuals infected with the EV71 virus. In this study, we performed a comprehensive ex vivo interferon-γ ELISPOT analysis in 31 children infected with EV71 as well as in 40 healthy adult controls of the CD4(+) and CD8(+) T-cell responses to overlapping peptides spanning the VP1 structural protein and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) non-structural protein. EV71-specific CD4 T-cell responses were detected in most of the acute patients and were mostly CD4-dependent RdRp-specific responses. CD8-dependent VP1 and RdRp-specific responses were also detected in a small proportion of recently infected children. There was no significant association between the strength of the T-cell responses and disease severity observed during the acute EV71 infection phase. Interestingly, an RdRp-specific, but no VP1-specific, CD4-dependent T-cell response was detected in 30% of the adult controls, and no T-cell responses were detected in healthy children. In addition, 24 individual peptides containing potential T-cell epitope regions were identified. The data suggest that CD4-dependent RdRp-specific T-cell responses may play an important role in protective immunity, and the epitopes identified in this study should provide valuable information for future therapeutic and prophylactic vaccine design as well as basic research.

RESUMEN

Shaking and tumbling are extremely important for the formation of the special flavor of Wuyi rock tea. In this study, we analyzed the effects of different shaking and tumbling degrees on the quality index content of tea leaves and determined changes in gene expression in tea leaves using RNA sequencing technology. On this basis, the correlation between gene expression intensities in tea leaves and tea quality index content was analyzed. The results showed that heavy shaking and tumbling (MW3) increased gene expression of metabolic pathways, biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, starch and sucrose metabolism, biosynthesis of amino acids, glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism, alpha-linolenic acid metabolism pathways and decreased gene expression of flavonoid biosynthesis, carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, and plant hormone signal transduction pathways in tea leaves, which in turn increased the content of caffeine, soluble sugar, amino acid and decreased the content of flavone, tea polyphenol, catechin component in tea leaves; the opposite was true for light shaking and tumbling. Second, this study found that MW3 was more beneficial in improving the mellowness, sweetness, and fresh and brisk taste of tea leaves and reducing the bitterness of tea leaves. This study provides some references to guide the processing of Wuyi rock tea with different flavors. PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Heavy shaking and tumbling was more beneficial in improving the mellowness, sweetness, and fresh and brisk taste of tea leaves and reducing the bitterness of tea leaves. Therefore, the degree of shaking and tumbling in Wuyi production can be appropriately improved to produce high-quality tea and improve the economic benefits of tea.

RESUMEN

There are obvious differences in quality between different varieties of the same plant, and it is not clear whether they can be effectively distinguished from each other from a bacterial point of view. In this study, 44 tea tree varieties (Camellia sinensis) were used to analyze the rhizosphere soil bacterial community using high-throughput sequencing technology, and five types of machine deep learning were used for modeling to obtain characteristic microorganisms that can effectively differentiate different varieties, and validation was performed. The relationship between characteristic microorganisms, soil nutrient transformation, and tea quality formation was further analyzed. It was found that 44 tea tree varieties were classified into two groups (group A and group B) and the characteristic bacteria that distinguished them came from 23 genera. Secondly, the content of rhizosphere soil available nutrients (available nitrogen, available phosphorus, and available potassium) and tea quality indexes (tea polyphenols, theanine, and caffeine) was significantly higher in group A than in group B. The classification result based on both was consistent with the above bacteria. This study provides a new insight and research methodology into the main reasons for the formation of quality differences among different varieties of the same plant.

RESUMEN

Construction advanced fibers with high Faradic activity and conductivity are effective to realize high energy density with sufficient redox reactions for fiber-based electrochemical supercapacitors (FESCs), yet it is generally at the sacrifice of kinetics and structural stability. Here, a high-entropy doping strategy is proposed to develop high-energy-density FESCs based on high-entropy doped metal oxide@graphene fiber composite (HE-MO@GF). Due to the synergistic participation of multi-metal elements via high-entropy doping, the HE-MO@GF features abundant oxygen vacancies from introducing various low-valence metal ions, lattice distortions, and optimized electronic structure. Consequently, the HE-MO@GF maintains sufficient active sites, a low diffusion barrier, fast adsorption kinetics, improved electronic conductivity, enhanced structural stability, and Faradaic reversibility. Thereinto, HE-MO@GF presents ultra-large areal capacitance (3673.74 mF cm-2) and excellent rate performance (1446.78 mF cm-2 at 30 mA cm-2) in 6 M KOH electrolyte. The HE-MO@GF-based solid-state FESCs also deliver high energy density (132.85 µWh cm-2), good cycle performance (81.05% of capacity retention after 10,000 cycles), and robust tolerance to sweat erosion and multiple washing, which is woven into the textile to power various wearable devices (e.g., watch, badge and luminous glasses). This high-entropy strategy provides significant guidance for designing innovative fiber materials and highlights the development of next-generation wearable energy devices.

RESUMEN

Aviation mutagenesis is a breeding method for the rapid selection of superior plant varieties. In this study, rhizosphere soil chemical indexes, soil enzyme activities, and soil metabolites were measured in Dahongpao tea trees with aviation mutagenesis (TM) and without aviation mutagenesis (CK). The main soil metabolites distinguishing TM and CK and their relationships with soil chemical indexes and soil enzyme activities were analyzed and obtained. The results showed that there was no significant change in the rhizosphere soils' pH of TM tea trees compared to CK (p = 0.91), while all other chemical indexes of TM were significantly higher than CK (p < 0.05). In addition, the activities of enzymes related to soil nutrient cycling such as urease, protease, sucrase, acid phosphatase and cellulase, and enzymes related to soil antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase, and polyphenol oxidase were significantly increased (p < 0.05) in the rhizosphere soils of TM tea trees compared to CK. Soil metabolite analysis showed that the main soil metabolites distinguishing CK from TM were carbohydrates, nitrogen compounds, and amines. Of these, carbohydrates and nitrogen compounds were significantly positively correlated with soil chemical indexes and soil enzymes, whereas amine was significantly negatively correlated with soil chemical indexes such as organic matter, total nitrogen, total potassium, available nitrogen, available phosphorus; amine showed significant negative correlation with soil enzymes such as catalase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, and urease. It can be seen that aviation mutagenesis is conducive to improving the ability of tea tree rhizosphere aggregation and transformation of soil nutrients, increasing the total amount of soil nutrients and the content of available nutrients, which is more conducive to promoting the uptake of nutrients by the tea tree, and thus promoting the growth of the tea tree.
