RESUMEN

We report on a theoretical study of nonsequential double ionization (NSDI) of magnesium atoms by using combined linearly and circularly polarized fields. By employing a concise model including the dynamic ionic dipole potential, we show that the polarization effects can be controlled by tuning the subcycle waveform of the electric field of the two-color pulses. We demonstrate that the influence of the dipole potential on NSDI depends on the symmetry of two-color laser fields by tracing back the electron trajectories. Furthermore, we propose a method allowing for manipulating the returning trajectories with the initial direction of the tunneled electrons almost unchanged.

RESUMEN

Low-resistivity objects produce eddy currents when excited with electromagnetic waves of a certain frequency and then generate an eddy electromagnetic field. A portable frequency-domain electromagnetic exploration system can be used to identify this eddy electromagnetic field, and then the low-resistivity objects can be positioned. At present, portable frequency-domain electromagnetic method (FEM) exploration systems use analog signal compensation, and the sounding depth is generally calculated using empirical formulas. In order to improve the rationality of signal compensation, this paper puts forward a digital signal compensation technology, including a device design, an information extraction method, and a primary field calibration method, and makes an exploration prototype based on the digital signal compensation technology. Using 10 nV as the minimum potential detection capability, the sounding depth of the portable FEM was analyzed, and it was found that when investigating a target with the same depth, a lower frequency required a larger emission current. If this could not be met, the sounding depth became smaller, and a phenomenon appeared in which the lower the operating frequency, the smaller the sounding depth. Through the detection of known underground garages, the apparent conductivity and normalized secondary field anomalies with higher sensitivity were obtained, which indicates that the detection system based on the digital signal compensation technology is effective in practical exploration. Via long-distance detection experiments on cars, it was confirmed that the sounding depth of the portable multi-frequency FEM in practical work indeed decreases with a decrease in the operating frequency.

RESUMEN

The efficient extraction recovery of scandium (Sc(iii)) is crucial for its application in high-end technology. Two novel hydrophobic carboxylic acid ionic liquids (ILs), namely, [lauryl betaine][bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl)imide] ([Laur][Tf2N]) and [cocamidopropyl betaine][bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl)imide] ([Coca][Tf2N]), were synthesized using two inexpensive amphoteric surfactants as cation sources. [Laur][Tf2N] (257 °C) and [Coca][Tf2N] (251 °C) exhibited good thermal stability and strong hydrophobicity. The viscosity of [Coca][Tf2N] (4.29 × 103 mP s) was higher than that of [Laur][Tf2N] (2.55 × 103 mPa s) at 25 °C. The optimal extraction conditions were an extraction equilibrium time of 40 min, an initial Sc(iii) concentration of 0.001 mol L-1, a sodium nitrate concentration of 0.5 mol L-1, and a pH of 3. The extraction efficiency of [Laur][Tf2N] and [Coca][Tf2N] could even exceed 98.7% and 96.0%, respectively. The cation exchange extraction mechanism was studied by slope analysis, IR spectroscopy and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Sc(iii) extracted using [Laur][Tf2N] and [Coca][Tf2N] could be completely stripped with 0.1 mol L-1 and 0.2 mol L-1 HNO3 once, respectively. The structure of the ILs was not broken after stripping, and the extraction efficiency of the ILs remained almost unchanged after five cycles. In addition, the extraction differences at different pH levels made it possible to separate Sc(iii) from other rare earths using ionic liquids [Laur][Tf2N] and [Coca][Tf2N].

RESUMEN

Soil salinity seriously hinders the sustainable development of green agriculture. The emergence of engineered nanomaterials has revolutionized agricultural research, providing a new means to overcome the limitations associated with current abiotic stress management and achieve highly productive agriculture. Herein, we synthesized a brand-new engineered nanomaterial (Cs-Se NMs) through the Schiff base reaction of oxidized chitosan with selenocystamine hydrochloride to alleviate salt stress in plants. After the addition of 300 mg/L Cs-Se NMs, the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase in rice shoots increased to 3.19, 1.79, and 1.85 times those observed in the NaCl group, respectively. Meanwhile, the MDA levels decreased by 63.9%. Notably, Cs-Se NMs also raised the transcription of genes correlated with the oxidative stress response and MAPK signaling in the transcriptomic analysis. In addition, Cs-Se NMs augmented the abundance and variety of rhizobacteria and remodeled the microbial community structure. These results provide insights into applying engineered nanomaterials in sustainable agriculture.

RESUMEN

In meat processing, changes in the myofibrillar protein (MP) structure can affect the quality of meat products. High hydrostatic pressure (HHP) has been widely utilized to change the conformational structure (secondary, tertiary and quaternary structure) of MP so as to improve the quality of meat products. However, a systematic summary of the relationship between the conformational structure (secondary and tertiary structure) changes in MP, gel properties and product quality under HHP is lacking. Hence, this review provides a comprehensive summary of the changes in the conformational structure and gel properties of MP under HHP and discusses the mechanism based on previous studies and recent progress. The relationship between the spatial structure of MP and meat texture under HHP is also explored. Finally, we discuss considerations regarding ways to make HHP an effective strategy in future meat manufacturing.

RESUMEN

Anode materials and structures are of critical importance for microbial fuel cells (MFCs) recovering energy from toxic substrates. Carbon-fiber-felt anodes modified by layers of vertically oriented TiO2 and Fe2O3 nanosheets were applied in the present study. Enhanced sulfide removal efficiencies (both over 90%) were obtained after a 48-h operation, with maximum power densities improved by 1.53 and 1.36 folds compared with MFCs with raw carbon-fiber-felt anode. The modified anodes provided more active sites for microbial adhesion with increasing biomass densities. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis also indicated the increase in microbial diversities. Bacteroidetes responsible for bioelectricity generation with Thiobacillus and Spirochaeta dominating sulfide removal were found in the MFCs with the modified anodes, with less anaerobic fermentative bacteria as Firmicutes appeared. This indicates that the proposed materials are competitive for applications of MFCs generating bioelectricity from toxic sulfide.

RESUMEN

Hong Qu glutinous rice wine (HQGRW), as one of the most typical representatives of Chinese rice wine, is generally brewed from glutinous rice by adding two traditional wine fermentation starters-Hong Qu (HQ) and Bai Qu (BQ). The objective of this study was to determine the microbial communities and volatile metabolites of different traditional fermentation starters for HQGRW, and elucidate the potential correlation between microbiota and volatile metabolites. Both heatmap and principal component analysis (PCA) revealed the significant variances in volatile profiles among different wine starters. Microbiological analysis based on high-throughput sequencing (HTS) technology demonstrated that both of bacterial and fungal communities varied significantly in different starters. HQ was dominated mainly by bacteria of Bacillus ginsengihumi (20.17%), Pantoea sp. (10.39%), Elizabethkingia sp. (5.52%), Streptococcus sp. (5.03%) Brevundimonas sp. (3.03%), Rickettsia prowazekii (2.94%), Thermus thermophilus (2.54%), Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (1.48%), Bacillus aryabhattai (1.42%); fungi of Monascus purpureus (39.7%), Aspergillus niger (27.35%), Xeromyces bisporus (8.39%), Aspergillus penicillioides (6.89%), Aspergillus flavus (2.33%) and Pichia farinose (0.79%). By contrast, BQ contained much higher proportions of bacteria of Lactococcus lactis (10.45%), Lactobacillus brevis (9.99%), Pediococcus pentosaceus (8.29%), Weissella paramesenteroides (6.69%), Lactobacillus fermentum (4.83%), Gluconobacter thailandicus (3.93%), Lactobacillus alimentarius (3.59%), fungi of Rhizopus arrhizus (31.47%), Saccharomycopsis fibuligera (27.86%), Aspergillus niger (20.81%), Issatchenkia orientalis (3.79%), Saccharomycopsis malanga (3.15%), Clavispora lusitaniae (2.29%), Candida tropicalis (1.47%), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (1.11%) and Rhizopus microsporus (0.57%). Furthermore, core functional microbiota that might contribute to volatile flavour development was explored through Spearman's correlation-based network analysis. Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus alimentarius, Lactobacillus plantarum and Aspergillus niger were found to be strongly associated with acid compounds (FDR adjusted P < 0.01), while Pichia sp., Candida sp., Monascus purpureus, Lactobacillus brevis and Lactobacillus alimentarius were positively correlated with concentrations of aromatic esters associated with fruity and floral notes (FDR adjusted P < 0.01), implying that these microorganisms might make significant contributions to the flavour of rice wine. These findings demonstrated that the aromatic quality of HQGRW may be critically influenced by the microbiota in traditional fermentation starters. To conclude, this study would contribute to the development of novel defined starter cultures for improving the aromatic quality of HQGRW.

RESUMEN

This work investigated the potential of vanadium (V) (V(V)) bioreduction by using soils sampled from four main kinds of vanadium ore mining areas, i.e. vanadium titanomagnetite, stone coal, petroleum associated minerals and uvanite as inocula. During a typical operation cycle of 60 h, the soils from vanadium titanomagnetite area and petroleum associated minerals area exhibited higher V(V) removal efficiencies, about 92.0 ±â€¯2.0% and 91.0 ±â€¯1.9% in comparison to 87.1 ±â€¯1.9% and 69.0 ±â€¯1.1% for the soils from uvanite and stone coal areas, respectively. Results from high-throughput 16 S rRNA gene pyrosequencing analysis reflect the accumulation of Bryobacter and Acidobacteriaceae with capabilities of V(V) reduction, accompanied with other functional species. This study is helpful to search new functional species for V(V) reduction and to develop in situ bioremediations of V(V) polluted groundwater.

RESUMEN

Changes in the structure of tropomyosin (TM) altered the texture profiles of eel balls and the inhibitory activity of the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). The secondary and tertiary structure of TM was determined after high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment. The correlation between the spatial structure of TM and the texture profiles of eel balls was developed and discussed. The ß-sheet was converted to a ß-turn and a random coil when treated at HHP (200-400 MPa), meanwhile the α-helix unfolded and was converted into a ß-sheet, ß-turn and a random coil with treatment at 500 and 600 MPa. The surface hydrophobicity (H0) was increased and the sulfhydryl (SH) content decreased with an increase in the pressure. The results indicated that the texture profiles of eel balls showed a negative relationship with the α-helix, ß-sheet and SH content. The texture profiles of eel balls were greatly enhanced after treatment at 500 and 600 MPa, leading to the improved surface network of the eel ball products. The ACE inhibitory activity of TM after HHP treatment exhibited a positive relationship with the ß-sheet content in the protein. The ACE inhibitory activity was preserved under 600 MPa.
