RESUMEN

Nurses' initial training is undergoing academisation against a backdrop of the omnipresence of digital technologies in the teaching methods. Trainer managers who support the students in their learning process towards professionalisation are re-evaluating their teaching approaches and in particular the assessment of knowledge in order to fit the quality of training to the needs of the healthcare system. This article presents an example around the theme of pathological processes.

RESUMEN

Localized macronodular tuberculosis of the liver is rare. In this location antituberculosis therapy results in a favorable clinical evolution in 100% of cases. We report a pseudo-tumoral form of this condition with no specific clinical, biological or radiological data. After ultrasound guided needle aspiration cytology suggesting metastasis, the correct diagnosis was obtained on liver biopsy after laparotomy. After what was probably inadequate therapy, the enlargement of several hepatic and splenic macronodules was observed. After two years and eight months, the clinical condition of the patient was good but radiological features remained. The risk of diagnostic errors and the therapeutic difficulties in the zones where the incidence of tuberculosis is low should be noted.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Few studies described the actual prescribing practices of second-generation antipsychotics and their adherence to the guidelines. METHODS: Our study included 90 patients among whom was prescribed a second-generation antipsychotic in our hospital between May 3rd and June 27th 2004. RESULTS: The proportion of each prescribed drug was: olanzapine, 57%; risperidone, 28%; amisulpride, 13%; and clozapine, 2%. Schizophrenia and other psychoses represented 75% of the treatment indications. Achievement of the pretherapeutic exams ranged from 23% for serum lipids to 96% for blood pressure. The initial dose was that recommended in 73% of the patients. CONCLUSION: The significant part of the prescription of olanzapine is shown in 2004 in our hospital. Guidelines appear respected except for some pretherapeutic exams.
