RESUMEN

Children continue to experience harm when undergoing clinical procedures despite increased evidence of the need to improve the provision of child-centred care. The international ISupport collaboration aimed to develop standards to outline and explain good procedural practice and the rights of children within the context of a clinical procedure. The rights-based standards for children undergoing tests, treatments, investigations, examinations and interventions were developed using an iterative, multi-phased, multi-method and multi-stakeholder consensus building approach. This consensus approach used a range of online and face to face methods across three phases to ensure ongoing engagement with multiple stakeholders. The views and perspectives of 203 children and young people, 78 parents and 418 multi-disciplinary professionals gathered over a two year period (2020-2022) informed the development of international rights-based standards for the care of children having tests, treatments, examinations and interventions. The standards are the first to reach international multi-stakeholder consensus on definitions of supportive and restraining holds.    Conclusion: This is the first study of its kind which outlines international rights-based procedural care standards from multi-stakeholder perspectives. The standards offer health professionals and educators clear evidence-based tools to support discussions and practice changes to challenge prevailing assumptions about holding or restraining children and instead encourage a focus on the interests and rights of the child. What is Known: • Children continue to experience short and long-term harm when undergoing clinical procedures despite increased evidence of the need to improve the provision of child-centred care. • Professionals report uncertainty and tensions in applying evidence-based practice to children's procedural care. What is New: • This is the first study of its kind which has developed international rights-based procedural care standards from multi-stakeholder perspectives. • The standards are the first to reach international multi-stakeholder consensus on definitions of supportive and restraining holds.

Individuals with schizophrenia have a greater risk of violence compared to the general population. However, the contribution of schizophrenia to violence is heavily debated and remains unclear. The purpose of the current phenomenological study was to explore experiences of violence among individuals with schizophrenia (N = 40, mean age = 35.6 years) in West Java, Indonesia. A purposive sampling method was used to select participants from main referral hospitals. Focus group discussions were held, revealing two main themes-victimization by nurses and victimization by family-and eight sub-themes. Sub-themes for victimization by nurses included physical violence, verbal violence, restraint, neglected basic human needs, and no informed consent. Sub-themes for victimization by family were physical violence, verbal violence, and deception. Patients with schizophrenia have the same rights as all other patients, including the right to dignified treatment, the right to informed consent, and the right to patient safety. The pressure of learning on students causes mental health problems in students. This can disrupt the student's academic process. The previous review still focused on the impact of digital mindfulness on students, but did not describe the various types of digital mindfulness on students' mental health. A digital image of mindfulness is needed to be a reference for health workers in providing health services to students. The purpose of this study is to describe types of digital-based mindfulness method to improve mental health in university students. The method used in this study was a scoping review. The databases used were CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus. Search strategy used PRISMA for Scoping Review with keywords namely mindfulness, digital, mental health, and students. The inclusion criteria in this study were student samples, digital-based mindfulness therapy, randomized control trial and quasi-experiment designs, and publication year in the last 10 years (2014-2023). We found that 11 articles about digital-based mindfulness therapy is effective in improving mental health in college students. The types of digital mindfulness carried out are education, counseling, and meditation. Range of samples are 54-561 university students. In addition, there are also counseling services and therapy training guided by facilitators. Information is presented through video and audio that can be accessed at any time by students. Application development is needed by adding monitoring and evaluation features to monitor student compliance in conducting mindfulness therapy and counseling schedules. Then, the role of health workers through holistic mental health services by involving families can improve the process of developing services for students optimally.

Bullying is a global problem in adolescents which has increased every year. One of the factors in the occurrence of bullying is the ability of interpersonal skills. This ability can build good relationships with assertive between adolescents and can prevent bullying. The purpose of this study is to describe assertiveness therapy for reducing bullying behavior and its impacts among adolescents. The method used in this study is scoping review. The search strategy used is PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews through three databases namely PubMed, CINAHL, and Scopus. The authors used inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria in the selection of articles. The major keywords used in the article search were bullying, assertiveness therapy, and adolescents. Data analysis used descriptive qualitative. The results showed that there were 10 articles that discussed assertive therapy. All articles show that assertiveness therapy can reduce bullying behavior and its impact significantly, such as reducing the impact of anxiety and increasing self-esteem. Assertiveness therapy methods carried out in the form of education, games, and role play. Education is carried out online and offline. Educational media is provided directly and through media such as educational videos which can be accessed at any time. Gender and cultural approaches are important aspects in the implementation of assertive therapy. Assertive therapy can improve interpersonal skills, social skills, empathy and assertiveness so that it can reduce bullying behavior and its impacts in adolescents. Then, this data becomes the basis for nurses to carry out assertive therapy as an effort to prevent and reduce bullying behavior in adolescents.

Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common motor disorder in childhood. CP limits movement, which can interfere with children's daily activities. As a technology that provides intensive mass practice to children, virtual reality (VR) can create an interactive and motivating environment. With the intensity set by the therapist and feedback that can be used to produce individualized therapy, VR has great potential to improve CP patients' quality of life, especially in a safe, enjoyable, and playful environment. Purpose: This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to determine the effectiveness of VR for children with CP. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search based on the PRISMA guidelines through PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Wiley, and ProQuest to assess the efficacy of VR in managing children with CP up to 15 September 2022. Risk assessment of bias was performed using Cochrane RoB 2. Results: Nineteen randomized controlled trials with 467 and 427 patients with CP were included in the intervention and control groups in qualitative and quantitative analyses. Participants consisted of cerebral palsy with hemiplegia (n=7), diplegia (n=2), a combination of both (n=4), and undefined (n=13). From all studies conducted, VR showed significant results where VR could improve balance (MD: 2.71[1.95, 3.48]; p < 0.00001), motor function (MD: 3.73 [1.67, 5.79]; p = 0.0004), and activity daily living (MD: 10.05 [2.89, 17.22]. However, VR showed not effective in improving upper limb function. Conclusion: With its advantages and excellent effectiveness, VR may improve functional mobility and the quality of life of children with CP.

Background: Hope is regarded positively as a factor in achieving a higher quality of life, particularly in chronic disease patients. Objectives: This study aims to adapt, validate, and establish the reliability of the Children's Hope Scale (CHS) questionnaire in Indonesian adolescents with thalassemia. Methods: The current study used iterative mixed methods. The data collection procedure was divided into three stages: instrument translation and cultural adaptation, validation, and reliability. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was used to assess the translated instrument's content validity, importance, contextual relevance, and acceptability of wording. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to determine the factor structure of the CHS. Pearson correlation analyses were used to determine the associations between the two hope subscales. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and test-retest data were used to determine its reliability. Results: The CVI values ranged from 0.80 to 1.00. The CFA has shown that the two-factor model has adequate fitness factors. The Cronbach's alpha for the Indonesian CHS was 0.705, and the test reliability rate (CI 95%) was 0.81 (.73-.91). Conclusion: The CHS is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing hope in Indonesia. Additional research should be conducted to adapt and evaluate the CHS in other samples and social context in order to verify the factor consistency.

Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic caused a change in learning methods to online learning. Zoom fatigue is a problem that many students experience during online learning. Zoom fatigue has an impact on physical and psychological problems so that it disrupts the online learning process. Hardiness is needed by students in order to adapt to online learning. Aim: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hardiness and zoom fatigue in nursing students at Universitas Padjadjaran. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional study design. The sample technique used total sampling. Respondents were 480 nursing students at Universitas Padjadjaran. The research instrument used the Zoom Exhaustion & Fatigue Scale questionnaire and the Hardiness Instrument for the Online Learning. Results: This study shows that almost half of the respondents have a medium hardiness level category (45%) and a zoom level of medium fatigue category (46.67%). The results of the analysis show that there is a significant negative relationship between hardiness and zoom fatigue in nursing students at Universitas Padjadjaran. The higher the student's hardiness level, the lower the student's zoom fatigue level. High hardiness can increase focus during the learning process, increase student participation, and reduce stress and fatigue in students during online learning. Conclusion: Lecturers and students need to collaborate to improve the learning process and repeat mental health problems during online learning. This data forms the basis for university and school nurses in providing interventions for nursing students to reduce the problem of zoom fatigue.

Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder affecting hemoglobin synthesis which leads to chronic hemolysis that can reduce the quality of life of children with it due to the disease and the treatment given. However, the intervention still focuses on handling physical problems due to thalassemia. So that an intervention that focuses on improving the quality of life of children with thalassemia is needed. The purpose of this study is to explore interventions that could improve the quality of life of children with thalassemia. A scoping review study design was used in this study. The databases used are CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus. Articles published from last five years (2018-2022), open access full-text, in English, and with the type of randomized controlled trial (RCT). The keywords used in English are "thalassemia or beta-thalassemia" AND "quality of life OR Life Quality OR Health-Related Quality of Life" AND "nursing intervention OR nursing care". From ten articles analyzed, we found five types of nursing intervention: Health Care Instructions, Psychological Program, Educational Program, Counseling Program, and Self-care Model, which were carried out for 1-7 months. The articles in this study are from Egypt and Iran. The sample in this study is the range of 20-173 respondents. The thalassemia patients in this study were in the age range of 7-35 years, but the average age of the patients was in their 20s. Nursing intervention can potentially improve the quality of life in children and adolescents with thalassemia. Nurses need to pay attention to the patient's age, family and patient knowledge about the disease, length of stay, and the patient's physical and psychological condition in providing nursing care to patients with thalassemia. Implementation of nursing is given by paying attention to the stages of child development and involving the family. Nursing interventions can be carried out by nurses or nurses teach families to intervene at home. This nursing intervention has the potential to improve the quality of life of patients with thalassemia while still taking into account the conditions of the patient and family in a comprehensive manner.

Background: The availability of clear emergency nurses' competencies is critical for safe and effective emergency health care services. The study regarding emergency nurses' competencies remained virtually limited. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the emergency nurses' competencies in the clinical emergency department (ED) context as needed by society. Methods: This qualitative study involved focus group discussions in six groups of 54 participants from three EDs. The data were analysed using grounded theory approach including the constant comparative, interpretations, and coding procedures; initial coding, focused coding and categories. Results: This study revealed 8 core competencies of emergency nurses: Shifting the nursing practice, Caring for acute critical patients, Communicating and coordinating, Covering disaster nursing roles, Reflecting on the ethical and legal standards, Researching competency, Teaching competencies and Leadership competencies. The interconnection of the 8 core competencies has resulted in 2 concepts of extending the ED nursing practice and demanding the advanced ED nursing role. Conclusion: The finding reflected the community needs of nurses who work in ED settings and the need for competency development of emergency nurses.

The learning method has changed from offline to online since Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic cause mental health problems in students such as stress, anxiety, and even depression. Interventions to reduce mental health problems in adolescents need to be carried out digitally to reduce the transmission of Coronavirus Disease 2019. The purpose of this study is to explore methods of digital therapy to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression among students during the Coronavirus Disease 2019. A scoping review study design was used in this study. Database the study from CINAHL, PubMed, and Scopus databases. This study used PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) and for quality appraisal used JBI Quality Appraisal. The inclusion criteria for articles in this study are full text, randomized control trial or quasi-experiment research design, English language, students sample, and the publication period during COVID-19 pandemic (2019-2022). There were found 13 articles discussing digital therapy and it was found that the digital therapy model to reduce anxiety and depression includes directions through digital modules, directions via video, and asynchronous discussions via online meeting. The sample range in this study is 37-1986 students. Most of the articles come from developed countries. Delivery services of digital therapy consist of three phases, namely psycho-education, problem-solving, and implementation of problem-solving strategies. The authors found that there are four digital therapy methods, namely Improving psychological abilities, Bias-modification intervention, Self-help intervention, and Mindfulness intervention. The implementation of digital therapy must still pay attention to various aspects that affect students, so that therapists need to pay attention to physical, psychological, spiritual, and cultural aspects. Here we highlight, digital therapy interventions are proven for improving mental health by reducing depression and anxiety levels among students during the COVID-19 pandemic by paying attention to all aspects that affect students.

Background: Child sexual abuse (CSA) has emerged as a global concern, particularly affecting children in Indonesia. However, there remains a scarcity of research on CSA within the Indonesian context.Objective: This study aimed to explore the educational needs of primary school teachers in preventing child sexual abuse. Methods: A qualitative descriptive study design was employed, with eight teachers and school principals selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through focus group discussions and analyzed using content analysis. Results: Six categories emerged: 1) The risk of sexual abuse, 2) The necessity for clear CSA preventive regulations and sanctions for abusers, 3) Lack of CSA program socialization, 4) The need for structured CSA prevention education for children, 5) The importance of effective coordination with various relevant stakeholders, and 6) The presence of barriers and obstacles. Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the educational prerequisites for teachers to implement CSA prevention measures effectively. The findings emphasize the pressing need for school teachers to develop and implement CSA prevention programs, with the government's and nursing professionals' support, to enhance educators' abilities in combating CSA. Nurses have a pivotal role in preventing and addressing child sexual abuse, and they should actively contribute to improving child safety and well-being through knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy for comprehensive prevention strategies.

Background: Stunting is a common nutritional problem in children. Many risk factors contributing to stunting are identified in the literature. Vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy is useful for preventing impairment of fetal bone growth in the womb. However, lack of review in exploring supplementation of prenatal vitamin D is related to stunting in children. Purpose: This study aims to identify the effectiveness of prenatal vitamin D supplementation in preventing stunting. Methods: A literature review was conducted using PubMed, CINAHL, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library. Inclusion criteria were a randomized controlled trial study, published between 2011-2023, a full-text article for pregnant women and an independent variable supplement vitamin D to prevent children's stunting. The keywords used in English were "children OR child" AND "pregnant women" AND "preventive stunting" AND "vitamin D". Study quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) appraisal tool. Results: From the results of the study selection of 511 articles, 11 articles met the inclusion and eligibility criteria for study analysis. Four studies indicated that the administration of vitamin D did not influence the length of the neonate's body or the Length for Age Z-Score (LAZ), used as an indicator of stunting. However, seven articles demonstrated that providing vitamin D supplements to pregnant women impacted various aspects of anthropometry, including the length of the neonate's body. Our findings show that the dosage used of vitamin D in pregnancy varied between 1400-60,000 per week. Overall, results of this study analysis show that the intervention of prenatal vitamin D supplementation has an impact on the prevention of stunting. Conclusion: This literature review highlighted the benefits of maternal vitamin D during pregnancy and for the children's growth. Prenatal vitamin D supplementation is needed to prevent stunting.

Purpose: This study aims to determine the effects of Islamic Mindfulness-based Caring (IMC) on fatigue among breast cancer patients. Design: A quasi-experimental study was undertaken in the chemotherapy unit of a hospital, in Bandung, Indonesia. Methods: A total of 112 females with stage III breast cancer undertaking chemotherapy treatment were recruited by purposive sampling technique. The experimental group (n = 53) was given both IMC and usual care, whereas the control group (n = 59) received only the usual care. Data were collected on days 1, 3, 23, and 44 using the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) and demographic information tools. Data analyses were carried out with the Mixed-Effects Linear Regression. Findings: We found a significant difference in fatigue between the control and experimental groups on days 23 (mean: 29.34-34.92; p = .001) and 44 (mean: 28.68-37.89; p < .001) after IMC intervention. The increase of time was significantly associated with a lower fatigue score (p < .05). Mixed-Effect Linear Regression showed a significant interaction between time and intervention of IMC effect on fatigue score on time-4 (adjusted ß coefficient: 6.62; 95% CI: 2.17-11.06). Conclusions: Nurse-administered IMC is capable of reducing fatigue among breast cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy.

The COVID-19 outbreak is a world health problem that affects millions of people. The pandemic is also causing burdens and challenges to health-care providers. Therefore, this study aimed to examine and help understand health-care providers' problems when caring for COVID-19 patients. An integrative review following Whittemore and Kanfl's approach was used along with a systematic search for emerging online databases and grey literature conducted from January to August 2021. The quality of papers was analyzed and a report was presented following PRISMA guidelines. A total of 18 articles that were predominantly descriptive with five themes, including mental health problems in the early stage of COVID-19 outbreak, working stress, physical and psychological impacts of disease, and the lack of support were analyzed. The results showed the pandemic's significant psychological impact on health-care providers directly caring for COVID-19 patients. Emotional, facilities and family support are needed to maintain the health-care providers' well-being.

Chronic diseases cause physical and psychological impacts on sufferers. In dealing with illness, the family is not involved in the treatment of chronic diseases. Children also do not receive support from their families in dealing with their illness. Family empowerment is an important thing to implement in treating children with chronic diseases. The purpose of this study was to explore family empowerment interventions as potential methods to reduce the impact of chronic disease. This study used the scoping review method. A literature review was conducted via CINAHL, PubMed, and ProQuest databases. The keywords used in English were "family empowerment OR family center empowerment" AND "child OR children" AND "chronic disease". The criteria for articles in this study were full text, free access, randomized control trial or quasi-experiment research design, English language, population and samples of chronic disease, and the publication period of the last 10 years (2013-2022). We found nine articles that used a family empowerment intervention in an effort to reduce the impact of chronic disease on children. Most of the study designs were randomized control trial and quasi-experiment. Some of the benefits of family empowerment interventions were quality of life, family care, and self-ability. The interventions helped the families to be empowered and actively participate in caring for children with chronic diseases. There were nine articles that discussed family empowerment interventions that have an impact in dealing with the impact of chronic disease on children, namely improving quality of life, family care, and self-ability.

Purpose: Stunting is a public health problem in Indonesia with a relatively high incidence, thereby making its prevention a priority for the Indonesian government. It potentially causes short and long effects on the quality of human resources as well as the productivity of stunted children when they grow up. Therefore, prevention and early detection efforts are needed by health professionals and cadres. Earlier studies have identified complexities associated with the determinant factors of stunting. This study aims to examine the association between sociodemographic factors as well as the knowledge and motivation of health cadres in stunting prevention in West Java. Methods: A correlational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on health cadres samples from 8 districts/cities in West Java Province namely Karawang, Tasikmalaya, Garut, Bandung, Subang, Sukabumi, Cianjur, and West Bandung. A total of 363 health cadres participated and the sampling technique used is the stratified method. The data were collected using a questionnaire developed specifically for this study and were analyzed using a correlation with chi-square test and presented in the form of a frequency distribution. Results: The results showed the majority of health cadres namely 81.27% had good knowledge, which was significantly influenced by education level and marital status with a P-value <0.05. Meanwhile, approximately half of the respondents had moderate motivation with 47.66%, while one-third or 39.12% had high motivation. This motivation was significantly influenced by education level, marital status, and age with p <0.05. Conclusion: Based on the results, it was concluded that the roles and functions of health cadres need to be improved in the prevention and early detection of stunting in West Java by providing continuous guidance, stunting prevention training, and award presentations.

Background: Working alliance between therapist and client in psychotherapy practice has become proven to compensate for a significant difference in various psychotherapy modalities. However, few studies have investigated the structure of alliance in the context of nurses working at mental health hospitals in Indonesia. Objective: This study aimed to compare the working alliance of mental health nurses according to socio-demographic characteristics. Methods: A cross-sectional research was performed at the Mental Health Hospital in West Java, Indonesia, as a referral hospital in Indonesia from May to December 2019. The inclusion criteria were nurses with a minimum of one year of working experience and a Diploma III certificate in nursing. Convenience sampling was used to recruit 120 nurses who agreed to join in this study. The working alliance was measured using Working Alliance Inventory-Short Revised-Therapist (WAI-SRT). Results: The majority of the respondents were female (77.5%), holding a Diploma III degree in nursing (49.17%), having working experience ranged from 11 to 15 years (34.17%), and working at the chronic unit (32.5%). The mean score of the working alliance was 44.46 (SD = 11.32). The domain of agreement on goals had a higher mean score (17.65 ± 3.45), followed by the task domain (16.56 ± 5.81) and bond domain (22.10 ± 7.23). There was a significant difference in working alliance according to education level and working experience (p < 0.05), while no significant differences in terms of gender and working unit. Conclusion: Mental health nurses with higher education levels and more vast working experience had higher working alliances. Thus, nurse managers and hospital policymakers should provide Continues Nursing Education (CNE), working alliance training, and therapeutic strategies for nurses to improve their working alliances. It is also essential to cooperate with nursing schools to include working alliances as learning objectives.

Introduction: Cervical cancer, a major consequence of persistent HPV infection, is the third most common cancer in women worldwide and has claimed around 311,000 women lives in 2018. The majority of these deaths took place in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In LMICs, where cervical cancer screening coverage is low, the HPV vaccine is a promising tool for preventing HPV infections and, thus, averting cervical cancer cases. In Indonesia, cervical cancer is the second most common cancer and HPV vaccination demonstration programs are underway in several provinces, but the HPV vaccine has not yet been introduced nationally. Since students are an important source of information for the community, and medical and nursing students are the future healthcare professionals, this study explored the knowledge, attitude, and acceptability of the HPV vaccine among University students in Indonesia. Methodology: A self-administered online questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge, attitude, and willingness of University students toward HPV vaccination. Result: A total of 433 students from Medical, Nursing, Social Sciences, and other faculties participated in the survey. It was identified that over 90% of the students were aware of cervical cancer and HPV, but only 68% knew about the HPV vaccine before participating in the study. Despite an average knowledge on the HPV vaccine, the students showed a strong willingness to receive the vaccine (95.8% acceptance rate). They believed that the HPV vaccine is safe and effective and that it will protect against HPV infection. The high cost and the lack of adequate information flow on HPV-related topics have been identified as potential barriers to the adoption of the HPV vaccine in Indonesia. Conclusion: Despite a high willingness for HPV vaccine uptake among students, there is a need to provide education on HPV vaccine-related topics to Indonesian students through awareness and training programs and improving the academic curriculum on vaccination for the long-term sustainability of the HPV vaccination program.

PURPOSE: Hope has been identified as a protective factor that contributes to achieving a better quality to life, especially in patients with chronic disease. The purpose of this review was to synthesize current knowledge about the relationship between hope and quality of life among adolescents living with chronic illnesses. METHODS: We searched major English-language databases (PsycINFO, PubMed, and CINAHL) for studies from January 1, 2002 to July 12, 2019. Studies were included if they provided data on hope and its relationship with quality of life among adolescents with chronic diseases. RESULTS: In total, five articles were selected from the 336 studies that were retrieved. All five studies reported a positive correlation between hope and quality of life, such that people with a higher level of hope had a better quality of life. Hope was found to have direct and indirect effects on quality of life in adolescents with chronic diseases. CONCLUSION: Healthcare professionals should make more efforts to enhance hope in adolescents with chronic diseases in order to improve their quality of life. Future studies exploring how hope develops in adolescents with chronic diseases and the long-term impact of hope on quality of life are necessary.

There is a dearth of research in Indonesia regarding pain management in children. Previous studies have identified that although a variety of research and clinical studies on all aspects of pain have been conducted in many countries, children continue to experience moderate to severe pain during hospitalization. Greater research efforts are needed to identify and explore the factors that impede effective pain management in children. To address this gap, the researchers conducted an exploratory descriptive qualitative study to capture Indonesian nurses' perceptions of barriers to paediatric pain management in two hospitals. Using purposive sampling, data were collected from 37 nurses through semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Findings indicated that nurses working in Indonesian paediatric wards felt that they were not able to provide effective pain care to hospitalized children. Nurses identified several organizational structural and cultural factors that were thought to hinder their provision of effective pain care to paediatric patients. These factors are embedded in nurses' clinical practice. The study findings can assist to inform relevant initiatives and strategies to improve clinical nurses' performance and competency in providing effective pain care to paediatric patients.
