RESUMEN

Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) of the heart leads to increased autophagic flux. Preconditioning stimulates autophagic flux by AMPK and PI3-kinase activation and mTOR inhibition. The cardioprotective effect of postconditioning is associated with activation of autophagy and increased activity of NO-synthase and AMPK. Oxidative stress stimulates autophagy in the heart during I/R. Superoxide radicals generated by NADPH-oxidase acts as a trigger for autophagy, possibly due to AMPK activation. There is reason to believe that AMPK, GSK-3ß, PINK1, JNK, hexokinase II, MEK, PKCα, and ERK kinases stimulate autophagy, while mTOR, PKCδ, Akt, and PI3-kinase can inhibit autophagy in the heart during I/R. However, there is evidence that PI3-kinase could stimulate autophagy in ischemic preconditioning of the heart. It was found that transcription factors FoxO1, FoxO3, NF-κB, HIF-1α, TFEB, and Nrf-2 enhance autophagy in the heart in I/R. Transcriptional factors STAT1, STAT3, and p53 inhibit autophagy in I/R. MicroRNAs could stimulate and inhibit autophagy in the heart in I/R. Long noncoding RNAs regulate the viability and autophagy of cardiomyocytes in hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R). Nitric oxide (NO) donors and endogenous NO could activate autophagy of cardiomyocytes. Activation of heme oxygenase-1 promotes cardiomyocyte tolerance to H/R and enhances autophagy. Hydrogen sulfide increases cardiac tolerance to I/R and inhibits apoptosis and autophagy via mTOR and PI3-kinase activation.

BACKGROUND: Impaired cardiac sympathetic activity and mechanical dyssynchrony (MD) are associated with poor prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF) after cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). The study aims to assess the significance of scintigraphic evaluation of cardiac sympathetic innervation and contractility in predicting response to CRT in patients with ischemic and non-ischemic chronic HF. METHODS AND RESULTS: The study includes 58 HF patients, who were referred for CRT. Prior to CRT all patients underwent 123I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (123I-MIBG) imaging and gated myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) using a cadmium-zinc-telluride (CZT) SPECT/CT device. At a one-year follow-up post-CRT, the delayed heart-to-mediastinum 123I-MIBG uptake ratio was an independent predictor of CRT response in non-ischemic HF patients (OR 1.469; 95% CI 1.076-2.007, p = .003). In ischemic HF patients the MD index histogram bandwidth (HBW) obtained by CZT-gated MPI had a predictive value (OR 1.06, 95% CI 1.001-1.112, p = .005) to CRT response. CONCLUSION: CRT response can be predicted by cardiac 123I-MIBG scintigraphy, specifically by the heart-to-mediastinum ratio in non-ischemic HF and by the MD index HBW in ischemic HF. These results suggest the value of a potentially useful algorithm to improve outcomes in HF patients who are candidates for CRT.

In the last 10 years, mortality from acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has not significantly decreased. This situation is associated with the absence in clinical practice of highly effective drugs capable of preventing the occurrence of reperfusion injury of the heart. Necroptosis inhibitors may become prototypes for the creation of highly effective drugs that increase cardiac tolerance to ischemic/reperfusion (I/R) and reduce the mortality rate in patients with AMI. Necroptosis is involved in I/R cardiac injury and inhibition of RIPK1 or RIPK3 contributes to an increase in cardiac tolerance to I/R. Necroptosis could also be involved in the development of adverse remodeling of the heart. It is unclear whether pre- and postconditioning could inhibit necroptosis of cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells. The role of necroptosis in coronary microvascular obstruction and the no-reflow phenomenon also needs to be studied. MicroRNAs and LncRNAs can regulate necroptotic cell death. Ca2+ overload and reactive oxygen species could be the triggers of necroptosis. Activation of kinases (p38, JNK1, Akt, and mTOR) could promote necroptotic cell death. The interaction of necroptosis, apoptosis, autophagy, ferroptosis, and pyroptosis is discussed. The water-soluble necroptosis inhibitors may be highly effective drugs for treatment of AMI or stroke. It is possible that microRNAs may become the basis for creating drugs for treatment of diseases triggered by I/R of organs.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies show inconsistent results on the role of innervation imaging (with I-123-mIBG) and perfusion imaging in predicting appropriate ICD therapy (aICDth). These studies included patients with both dilated and ischemic cardiomyopathy. This study compared the ability of 123I-mIBG imaging along with perfusion imaging (using thallium-199) to predict aICDth in patients with ischemic heart failure (IHF) in relation to indication for ICD implantation (primary vs. secondary prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD)). METHODS: mIBG/thallium SPECT imaging were performed before ICD implantation in 80 patients with IHF: 49 candidates for primary and 31 for secondary SCD prevention. RESULTS: During a mean follow-up of 18 months, the imaging results could not predict patients with appropriate ICD therapy among patients with ICD implants for primary SCD prevention. While in the secondary SCD prevention group, those who received a ICDth had significantly larger summed scores of regional perfusion and innervation impairment, but not higher heart-to-mediastinal mIBG ratio. The best results to predict aICDth were using mIBG summed score (cut-off point > 34%, sensitivity 72%, specificity 100%, AUC 0.909, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: The prognostic value of innervation and perfusion imaging in patients with IHF differ based on indication for ICD implantation (primary vs. secondary prevention of SCD).

BACKGROUND: In patients with high risk of ventricular tachycardia (VT) the proven beneficial therapy is the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). It has been shown that the coronary artery disease (CAD) and VT development are accompanied by a persistent change of the sympathoadrenal system activity. This leads to a decrease in the total density of the erythrocyte membrane ß-adrenergic receptors. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship of the erythrocyte membranes ß-adrenoreactivity (EMA) with VT development in patients with CAD and ICD. METHOD: Sixty-three patients (male - 53, age - 66.6 ± 9.2 years) with CAD and ICD were included to the study. EMA was studied using a method for assessing erythrocyte osmoresistance increase as a result of ß-adrenergic receptors blockade by a selective ß-adrenergic blocker. VT and ventricular fibrillation (VF) events recorded by ICD were evaluated. RESULTS: The 1st group consist of 23 patients with VT/VF events recorded by ICD during 27.0 [14.0; 53.0] months follow-up period. EMA indicator in this group was 41.54% [27.15; 51.26]. The 2nd group consist of 40 patients without VT/VF events and the same indicator was significantly higher - 55.42% [35.67; 62.33] (p = .04). The ROC-analysis (AUC = 0.657; Sen = 78.26; Spe = 55.00; p = .031) and binary logistic regression (OR = 0.9679; 95% CI: 0.9384-0.9983; p = .038) showed that EMA indicator 51.26% or lower was the independent predictor of VT events. CONCLUSIONS: In patients with CAD and ICD erythrocyte membranes ß-adrenoreactivity indicator 51.26% or lower is the predictor of VT episodes.

Saliva plays multifunctional roles in oral cavity. Even though its importance for the maintenance of oral health has long been established, the role of saliva in food perception has attracted increasing attention in recent years. We encourage researchers to discover the peculiarity of this biological fluid and aim to combine the data concerning all aspects of the saliva influence on the sensory perception of food. This review presents saliva as a unique material, which modulates food perception due to constant presence of saliva in the mouth and thanks to its composition. Therefore, we highlight the salivary components that contribute to these effects. Moreover, this review is an attempt to structure the effects of saliva on perception of different food categories, where the mechanisms of salivary impact in perception of liquid, semi-solid, and solid foods are revealed. Finally, we emphasize that the large inter-individual variability in salivary composition and secretion appear to contribute to the fact that everyone experiences food in their own way. Therefore, the design of the sensory studies should consider the properties of volunteers' saliva and also carefully monitor the experimental conditions that affect salivary composition and flow rate.

PURPOSE: The concept of time perspective (TP) implies that a mental focus on past, present, or future affect a person makes decisions and take action. Inability to plan their life for a sufficiently long time perspective due to the COVID-19 pandemic appeared to have a pronounced impact on a human's lifestyle influencing their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, including eating behavior. This study tested two hypotheses: (a) that during COVID-19 isolation, the incidence rate of food addiction is increased, and (b) people with present TP are more likely exhibited signs of food addiction (FA). METHODS: The final study sample included 949 people, mean age 21.8 ± 7.8 years (range: 17-71 years, women: 78.3%). Each participant indicated their personal data and completed Yale Food Addiction Scale and the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory. RESULTS: There was an increased incidence rate of FA (OR = 1.678, 95% CI = 1.324, 2.148, p = 0.000) during COVID-19 isolation. Individuals with balanced, future, and past positive TP were less likely to exhibit symptoms of FA. Persons with past negative, and present hedonistic TP were more likely to exhibit signs of FA. CONCLUSION: There was an increased incidence rate of FA during COVID-19 isolation. Persons with shortened time horizon are more likely to exhibit symptoms of FA. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to analyse the relationships between food addiction (FA), anthropometric characteristics and academic performance. DESIGN: The average age (sd) of the participants was 17·5 (sd 2·7) years (64·1 % female). Each study participant indicated their sex, height, weight and academic performance and completed the Yale Food Addiction Scale. SETTING: Syktyvkar, Kirov, Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Russia; Aizawl, India. PARTICIPANTS: The study involved 3426 people. RESULTS: FA was found in 8·7 % of participants from Russia and 14·6 % from India. In schoolchildren but not in university students, high academic performance was associated with a higher incidence rate of FA detection (OR = 1·16, 95 % CI 1·07, 1·26) and a lower BMI (OR = 0·72, 95 % CI 0·56, 0·94). CONCLUSIONS: These data showed an increased incidence rate of FA detection in adolescents with high academic performance.

PURPOSE: Food addiction (FA) is one of the causes of widespread obesity in modern society. It was shown that there is an age-associated increase in incidence rate of FA in adolescents/young adults. The purpose of this study was to analyze food preferences in schoolchildren and university students with FA. METHODS: High school and university students (N = 1607; age: 17.8 ± 2.7 years; girls: 77.0%) located in four settlements of Russia anonymously took part in the study. Study participants provided personal data (age, sex, height, and weight) and completed the Yale Food Addiction Scale, the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale and the Munich ChronoType Questionnaire. In addition, they indicated food products with which they had problems. RESULTS: The frequency of detection of FA among university students was twice as high as among schoolchildren. University students with FA were 20.2% more likely than schoolchildren to report the symptom 'use continues despite knowledge of adverse consequences,' and 13.7% more likely to report the symptom 'tolerance.' Schoolchildren and university students with FA most often noted that foods high in sugar and fat were problematic. University students with FA also reported that foods with a high carbohydrate content were problematic. CONCLUSION: In university students with FA, in comparison with schoolchildren with FA, there is an increase in list of problematic food products, mainly due to products with a high carbohydrate content. Prompt diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE) remains challenging, which often results in a delayed or inappropriate treatment of this life-threatening condition. Mobile thrombus in the right cardiac chambers is a neglected cause of PE. It poses an immediate risk to life and is associated with an unfavorable outcome and high mortality. Thrombus residing in the right atrial appendage (RAA) is an underestimated cause of PE, especially in patients with atrial fibrillation. This article reviews achievements and challenges of detection and management of the right atrial thrombus with emphasis on RAA thrombus. The capabilities of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography and advantages of three-dimensional and two-dimensional echocardiography are reviewed. Strengths of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), computed tomography, and cardiac ventriculography are summarized. We suggest that a targeted search for RAA thrombus is necessary in high-risk patients with PE and atrial fibrillation using transesophageal echocardiography and/or CMR when available independently on the duration of the disease. High-risk patients may also benefit from transthoracic echocardiography with right parasternal approach. The examination of high-risk patients should involve compression ultrasonography of lower extremity veins along with the above-mentioned technologies. Algorithms for RAA thrombus risk assessment and protocols aimed at identification of patients with RAA thrombosis, who will potentially benefit from treatment, are warranted. The development of treatment protocols specific for the diverse populations of patients with right cardiac thrombosis is important.

The incidence of food addiction (FA) and associations between FA and anthropometric and psycho-emotional characteristics of young Russian adults were studied. In this study, 1,237 students (age, M = 20.6, SD = 4.6 years; 79% females) of universities located in four cities of Russia were attended. They provided demographics and filled in the Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS), the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire, and the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale. Data were analysed via Chi-squared tests, logistic regression analysis, and an analysis of covariance. 13.2% of participants met diagnostic criteria for FA based on the YFAS. On average, the participants reported 2.6 FA symptoms (SD = 1.5). FA was more commonly detected in females (OR = 1.86, 95% CI = 1.10, 3.15, p = .021). No relationship was found between age and the incidence of FA. Significant positive associations between FA, the severity of depression (OR = 2.31, 95% CI = 1.91, 2.80, p = .000), and an emotional eating behaviour (OR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.20, 1.76, p = .000) were found. The waist-to-height ratio was found to be the anthropometric indicator most closely associated with FA (OR = 1.49, 95% CI = 1.27, 1.76, p = .000). HIGHLIGHTS: The prevalence of food addiction in the current sample was 13.2%. In young Russian adults, emotional eating behaviour and depression are associated with food addiction. In young Russian adults, the waist-to-height ratio is the anthropometric indicator most closely associated with food addiction.

The purpose of this investigation was to study the sleep-wake rhythm characteristics of young persons with food addiction (FA) and symptoms of depression. A total of 2,360 young persons living in northern European Russia were included in the study. The average age of the respondents (± standard deviation [SD]) was 17.9 [4.6] years (66.6% female). Each participant provided personal data and filled in three questionnaires: the Munich Chronotype Questionnaire, the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale, and the Yale Food Addiction Scale. FA was detected in 8.9% of respondents, and moderate-to-severe symptoms of depression were detected in 16.7% of respondents. FA and depressive symptoms were more often detected in females. Age and body mass index were shown to be significantly associated with FA. There were positive associations between the time of sunrise and FA and depressive symptoms. Persons who had symptoms of depression also tended to have a later chronotype, lower sleep efficiency, later sleep onset, higher sleep inertia, and greater sleep latency on school days. A positive relationship between FA and the time of sleep onset on school days was also revealed. Thus, the results indicate that prolonged wakefulness in the evening after sunset was associated with FA.

Confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to have a serious and complex impact on the mental health of patients with an eating disorder (ED) and of patients with obesity. The present manuscript has the following aims: (1) to analyse the psychometric properties of the COVID Isolation Eating Scale (CIES), (2) to explore changes that occurred due to confinement in eating symptomatology; and (3) to explore the general acceptation of the use of telemedicine during confinement. The sample comprised 121 participants (87 ED patients and 34 patients with obesity) recruited from six different centres. Confirmatory Factor Analyses (CFA) tested the rational-theoretical structure of the CIES. Adequate goodness-of-fit was obtained for the confirmatory factor analysis, and Cronbach alpha values ranged from good to excellent. Regarding the effects of confinement, positive and negative impacts of the confinement depends of the eating disorder subtype. Patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) and with obesity endorsed a positive response to treatment during confinement, no significant changes were found in bulimia nervosa (BN) patients, whereas Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED) patients endorsed an increase in eating symptomatology and in psychopathology. Furthermore, AN patients expressed the greatest dissatisfaction and accommodation difficulty with remote therapy when compared with the previously provided face-to-face therapy. The present study provides empirical evidence on the psychometric robustness of the CIES tool and shows that a negative confinement impact was associated with ED subtype, whereas OSFED patients showed the highest impairment in eating symptomatology and in psychopathology.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease requiring lifelong control with hypoglycemic agents that must demonstrate excellent efficacy and safety profiles. In patients taking glucose-lowering drugs, hypoglycemia is a common cause of death associated with arrhythmias, increased thrombus formation, and specific effects of catecholamines due to sympathoadrenal activation. Focus is now shifting from merely glycemic control to multifactorial approach. In the context of individual drugs and classes, this article reviews interdisciplinary strategies evaluating metabolic effects of drugs for treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) which can mask characteristic hypoglycemia symptoms. Hypoglycemia unawareness and cardiac autonomic neuropathy are discussed. Data suggesting that hypoglycemia modulates immune response are reviewed. The potential role of gut microbiota in improving health of patients with diabetes and CHF is emphasized. Reports stating that nondiabetic CHF patients can have life-threatening hypoglycemia associated with imbalance of thyroid hormones are discussed. Regular glycemic control based on HbA1c measurements and adequate pharmacotherapy remain the priorities in diabetes management. New antihyperglycemic drugs with safer profiles should be preferred in vulnerable CHF patients. Multidrug interactions must be considered. Emerging therapies with reduced hypoglycemia risk, telemedicine, sensor technologies, and genetic testing predicting hypoglycemia risk may help solving the challenges of hypoglycemia in CHF patients with diabetes. Interdisciplinary work may involve cardiologists, diabetologists/endocrinologists, immunologists, gastroenterologists, microbiologists, nutritionists, imaging specialists, geneticists, telemedicine experts, and other relevant specialists. This review emphasizes that systematic knowledge on pathophysiology of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients with CHF is largely lacking and the gaps in our understanding require further discoveries.

Adverse cardiac remodeling leads to impaired ventricular function and heart failure, remaining a major cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with acute myocardial infarction. It have been shown that, even if all the recommended therapies for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction are performed, one third of patients undergoes progressive cardiac remodeling that represents morphological basis for following heart failure. The need to extend our knowledge about factors leading to different clinical scenarios of myocardial infarction and following complications has resulted in a research of immuno-inflammatory pathways and molecular activities as the basis for post-infarction remodeling. Recently, macrophages (cells of the innate immune system) have become a subject of scientific interest under both normal and pathological conditions. Macrophages, besides their role in host protection and tissue homeostasis, play an important role in pathophysiological processes induced by myocardial infarction. In this article we summarize data about the function of monocytes and macrophages plasticity in myocardial infarction and outline potential role of these cells as effective targets to control processes of inflammation, cardiac remodeling and healing following acute coronary event.

We model a market, such as an online software market, in which an intermediary connects sellers and buyers by displaying sellers' products. With two vertically-differentiated products, an intermediary can place either: (1) one product, not necessarily the better one, on the first page, and the other hidden on the second page; or (2) both products on the first page. We show that it can be optimal for the intermediary to obfuscate a product-possibly the better one-since this weakens price competition and allows the sellers to extract a greater surplus from buyers; however, it is not socially optimal. The choice of which one to obfuscate depends on the distribution of search costs.

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of idiopathic ventricular tachycardia and premature ventricular beats on cardiac function and dyssynchrony and to elucidate relationships between data of scintigraphic and intracardiac electrophysiology studies (EPSs). METHODS: The study comprised 64 patients with idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias (VAs; median age of 14 years ranging from 8 to 18 years). The control group comprised 20 patients (median age of 12 ranging from 7 to 16 years) without cardiac arrhythmias. EPS and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) procedure for VA were performed in 21 children according to indications. The functional state of both ventricles was assessed by gated blood pool single photon emission computer tomography (GBP-SPECT) before and after RFA in all patients. RESULTS: Patients with VA had local areas of asynchronous myocardial contraction (AMC). Compared with the control group, VA patients had significantly higher values of end-diastolic volume, end-systolic volume, and lower contractility indices. Negative association was found between total numbers of AMC areas and cardiac contractility indices. Ectopic foci localization, determined based on EPS data, was associated with AMC areas topography based on GBP-SPECT. RFA procedure significantly improved cardiac contractility indices; AMC areas completely disappeared or decreased compared with the preoperative conditions. CONCLUSION: In VA patients, AMC areas were localized mostly in the right ventricle. Comparison of the results of GBP-SPECT and EPS studies showed a relationship between AMC localizations and ectopic foci topography. The fact that AMC areas disappeared after RFA supports the hypothesis stating that the presence of AMC areas is a scintigraphic symptom of ectopic focus.

UNLABELLED: The aims of the study were to evaluate the effects of renal sympathetic denervation (RSD) on the heart and to identify the predictors of RSD efficacy in patients with resistant arterial hypertension. The study comprised 60 RSD patients (54.6 ± 9.5 years) who received full-dose antihypertensive therapy (4.1 drugs) including diuretics. Initially, 58.6% of patients had abnormal left ventricular (LV) diastolic function. All patients received echocardiography before and 24 weeks after RSD. Renal sympathetic denervation was achieved through the endovascular radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the renal arteries. Drug therapy continued for the entire period of observation. After RSD, all patients were retrospectively assigned to two groups: group 1 comprised patients (n = 22; 36.7%) in whom the myocardial mass (MM) of the left ventricle decreased by more than 10 g after RSD; group 2 comprised patients (n = 38; 63.3%) in whom LV MM increased or decreased by less than 10 g. Anthropometry, arterial blood pressure, heart rate, therapy, and LV end-diastolic dimensions (EDD) were comparable in these groups. After RSD, the values of office blood pressure significantly decreased and MM regressed by more than 10 g in 36.7% of patients; LV diastolic function normalized in 31% of patients, and diastolic dysfunction improved in 14% of patients. The study found the associations between the initial LV wall dimensions and LV MM changes. Unlike LV EDD, arterial blood pressure, or heart rate, the initial values of LV wall thickness predicted LV MM regress. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that melatonin-containing food (FMT) consumption is associated with a better sleep schedule and cognitive and psychoemotional state in older adults. A cross-sectional study of 557 (79% females) older adults living in the community with a mean age of 68.9 ± 7.7, ranging from 50 to 90 years, was conducted. The study, conducted in May and September 2023 using a face-to-face interview, collected personal data and assessed FMT intake during the day (FMTday) and for dinner (FMTdinner), life satisfaction, positive and negative affect, depression severity, cognitive functions, and sleep characteristics. Multiple regression and logistic regression analysis, adjusted for co-factors, were used to assess the association between the studied indicators. Multiple regression analysis showed that older adults with higher FMT consumption are more satisfied with life (FMTdinner: ß = 0.107; ∆R2 = 0.011; p = 0.020), have a lower level of depression (FMTday: ß = -0.124; ∆R2 = 0.015; p = 0.003), and higher scores in positive affect (FMTday: ß = 0.169; ∆R2 = 0.016; p = 0.007; FMTdinner: ß = 0.136; ∆R2 = 0.019; p = 0.003). Logistic regression analysis showed that older adults with higher FMT consumption are less likely to have depression (FMTday: OR, 0.614; 95% CI, 0.436-0.864; p = 0.005; FMTdinner: OR, 0.671; 95% CI, 0.476-0.945; p = 0.023), and they perform better on logical thinking tests (FMTday: OR, 2.066; 95% CI, 1.131-2.204; p = 0.013; FMTdinner: OR, 1.887; 95% CI, 1.183-2.138; p = 0.033). A greater life satisfaction as well as a decrease in the cognitive impairment and psychoemotional state of older adults is associated with a higher consumption of melatonin-containing foods.

BACKGROUND: The left bundle branch block, nonischemic heart failure (HF) and female gender are the most powerful predictors of a super response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). It is important to identify super responders who can derive most benefits from CRT. We aimed to establish a predicting model that could be used for prognosis of a super response to CRT in short-term period. METHODS: Patients with QRS ≥ 130 ms, New York Heart Association (NYHA) II-III class of HF, left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤ 35% and indications for CRT were included in the study. Before and 6 month after CRT the electrocardiography, echocardiography and cardiac scintigraphy were performed. The study's primary endpoint was the NYHA class improvement ≥ 1 and left ventricle end systolic volume decrease > 30% or LVEF improvement > 15% after 6 month CRT. Based on collected data, we developed a predictive model regarding a super response to CRT. RESULTS: Of 49 (100.0%) patients, 32 (65.3%) had a super response to CRT. Patients with a super response were likelier to have a lower cardiac index (p = 0.007), higher rates of interventricular delay (IVD) (p = 0.003), phase standard deviation of left ventricle anterior wall (PSD LVAW) (p = 0.009) and ∆QRS (p = 0.02). Only IVD and PSD LVAW were independently associated with a super response to CRT in univariate and multivariate logistic regression. We created a logistic equation and calculated a cut-off value. The resulting ROC curve revealed a discriminative ability with AUC of 0.812 (sensitivity 90.62%; specificity 70.59%). CONCLUSION: Our predictive model is able to distinguish patients with a super response to CRT.
