RESUMEN

The construction of high-performance n-type semiconductors is crucial for the advancement of organic electronics. As an attractive n-type semiconductor, molecular systems based on perylene diimide derivatives (PDIs) have been extensively investigated over recent years. Owing to the fascinating aggregated structure and high performance, S-heterocyclic annulated PDIs (SPDIs) are receiving increasing attention. However, the relationship between the structure and the electrical properties of SPDIs has not been deeply revealed, restricting the progress of PDI-based organic electronics. Here, we developed two novel SPDIs with linear and dendronized substituents in the imide position, named linear SPDI and dendronized SPDI, respectively. A series of structural and property characterizations indicated that linear SPDI formed a long-range-ordered crystalline structure based on helical supramolecular columns, while dendronized SPDI, with longer alkyl side chains, formed a 3D-ordered crystalline structure at a low temperature, which transformed into a hexagonal columnar liquid crystal structure at a high temperature. Moreover, no significant charge carrier transport signal was examined for linear SPDI, while dendronized SPDI had a charge carrier mobility of 3.5 × 10-3 cm2 V-1 s-1 and 2.1 × 10-3 cm2 V-1 s-1 in the crystalline and liquid crystalline state, respectively. These findings highlight the importance of the structure-function relationship in PDIs, and also offer useful roadmaps for the design of high-performance organic electronics for down-to-earth applications.

Environmental exposure to hazardous materials causes enormous socioeconomic problems due to its deleterious impacts on human beings, agriculture and animal husbandry. As an important hazardous material, cadmium can promote uterine oxidative stress and inflammation, leading to reproductive toxicity. Antioxidants have been reported to attenuate the reproductive toxicity associated with cadmium exposure. In this study, we investigated the potential protective effect of procyanidin oligosaccharide B2 (PC-B2) and gut microbiota on uterine toxicity induced by cadmium exposure in rats. The results showed that the expression levels of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were reduced in utero. Proinflammatory cytokines (including tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1ß and interleukin-6), the NLRP3 inflammasome, Caspase-1 and pro-IL-1ß were all involved in inflammatory-mediated uterine injury. PC-B2 prevented CdCl2-induced oxidative stress and inflammation in uterine tissue by increasing antioxidant enzymes and reducing proinflammatory cytokines. Additionally, PC-B2 significantly reduced cadmium deposition in the uterus, possibly through its significant increase in MT1, MT2, and MT3 mRNA expression. Interestingly, PC-B2 protected the uterus from CdCl2 damage by increasing the abundance of intestinal microbiota, promoting beneficial microbiota, and inhibiting harmful microbiota. This study provides novel mechanistic insights into the toxicity of environmental cadmium exposure and indicates that PC-B2 could be used in the prevention of cadmium exposure-induced uterine toxicity.

RESUMEN

Cluster analysis plays an indispensable role in machine learning and data mining. Learning a good data representation is crucial for clustering algorithms. Recently, deep clustering (DC), which can learn clustering-friendly representations using deep neural networks (DNNs), has been broadly applied in a wide range of clustering tasks. Existing surveys for DC mainly focus on the single-view fields and the network architectures, ignoring the complex application scenarios of clustering. To address this issue, in this article, we provide a comprehensive survey for DC in views of data sources. With different data sources, we systematically distinguish the clustering methods in terms of methodology, prior knowledge, and architecture. Concretely, DC methods are introduced according to four categories, i.e., traditional single-view DC, semi-supervised DC, deep multiview clustering (MVC), and deep transfer clustering. Finally, we discuss the open challenges and potential future opportunities in different fields of DC.

OBJECTIVE: The abnormal plantar pressure of flatfoot patients is a common condition. The main objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of custom-molded insole on the plantar pain of flatfoot METHODS: 105 patients (representing 174 feet) participated in evaluating a custom-made orthotic insole from June 2018 to March 2019. The height of the navicular tubercle (HNT) and the deflection angle of calcaneus (DAC) in flatfoot patients after using orthotic insoles for 6 months were recorded by X-ray imaging and scanning measurements. Plantar pressure on metatarsals 1-5 was measured by using an RSscan system RESULTS: Without the use of an orthotic insole, mean HNT was 0.99±0.34 cm and mean DAC was 20.0 ± 3.78 ° during the bearing weight. After using the insole, mean HNT and DAC values reduced to 0.87±0.30 cm and 14.3 ± 3.45 °, respectively (P < 0.05). Hindfoot plantar pressure did not change significantly (P > 0.05). Furthermore, pressure at metatarsals 1-3 decreased by 48.5 %, 45.6 %, and 14.3 %, respectively; that at metatarsals 4-5 increased by 33.3 % and 137.5 %, separately, when using the custom-made insole CONCLUSIONS: Visual analog scale score for plantar pain was significantly reduced. These findings indicate that metatarsal pain of flatfoot patients might be the cause of load imbalance in plantar foot.

The Chengdu ma goat is an excellent local breed in China. As one of the breeds listed in the National List of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Protection, the protection of its germplasm resources is particularly important. However, the existing breeding and protection methods for them are relatively simple, due to the weak technical force and lack of intelligent means to assist. Most livestock farmers still conduct small-scale breeding in primitive ways, which is not conducive to the breeding and protection of Chengdu ma goats. In this paper, an automatic individual recognition method for Chengdu ma goats is proposed, which saves labor costs and does not depend on large-scale mechanized facilities. The main contributions of our work are as follows: (1) a new Chengdu ma goat dataset is built, which forms the basis for object detection and classification tasks; (2) an improved detection algorithm for Chengdu ma goats based on TPH-YOLOv5 is proposed, which is able to accurately localize goats in high-density scenes with severe scale variance of targets; (3) a classifier incorporating a self-supervised learning module is implemented to improve the classification performance without increasing the labeled data and inference computation overhead. Experiments show that our method is able to accurately recognize Chengdu ma goats in the actual indoor barn breeding environment, which lays the foundation for precision feeding based on sex and age.

Ankle sprain is the most common injury during parachute landing. The biomechanical behavior of the tissues can help us understand the injury mechanism of ankle inversion. To accurately describe the injury mechanism of tissues and assess the effect of ankle protection, a stable time of landing was obtained through the dynamic stability test. It was used for the boundary condition of the foot finite element (FE). The FE model was provided a static load equal to half of the bodyweight applied at the distal tibia and fibula; a foot-boot-brace FE model was established to simulate the landing of subjects on an inversion inclined platform of 0-20°, including non-, external, and elastic ankle braces. Compared with the non-ankle brace, both the external and elastic ankle braces decreased the peak strains of the cal-fibular, anterior Ta-fibular, and posterior Ta-fibular ligaments (15.2-33.0%), and of the peak stress of the fibula (15.2-24.5%). For the strain decrement of the aforementioned ligaments, the elastic brace performed better than the external ankle brace under the inversion of the 10° condition. The peak stress of the fibula (15.6 MPa) decreased up to 24.5% with an elastic brace and 5.6-10.3% with an external brace. The findings suggested that the behaviors of lateral ankle ligaments and fibula were meaningful for the functional ability of the ankle. This provides some suggestions regarding the optimal design of ankle protection.

Posture changes in pigs during growth are often precursors of disease. Monitoring pigs' behavioral activities can allow us to detect pathological changes in pigs earlier and identify the factors threatening the health of pigs in advance. Pigs tend to be farmed on a large scale, and manual observation by keepers is time consuming and laborious. Therefore, the use of computers to monitor the growth processes of pigs in real time, and to recognize the duration and frequency of pigs' postural changes over time, can prevent outbreaks of porcine diseases. The contributions of this article are as follows: (1) The first human-annotated pig-posture-identification dataset in the world was established, including 800 pictures of each of the four pig postures: standing, lying on the stomach, lying on the side, and exploring. (2) When using a deep separable convolutional network to classify pig postures, the accuracy was 92.45%. The results show that the method proposed in this paper achieves adequate pig-posture recognition in a piggery environment and may be suitable for livestock farm applications.

Endometritis is generally caused by bacterial infections, including both acute and chronic infections. In the past few decades, accumulated evidence showed that the occurrence of diseases might be related to gut microbiota. The progression of diseases is previously known to change the composition and diversity of intestinal microbiota. Additionally, it also causes corresponding changes in metabolites, primarily by affecting the physiological processes of microbiota. However, the effects of acute endometritis on intestinal microbiota and its metabolism remain unknown. Thus, the present study aimed to assess the effects of acute endometritis on intestinal microbes and their metabolites. Briefly, endometritis was induced in 30 specific pathogen-free (SPF) BALB/c female mice via intrauterine administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) after anesthesia. Following this, 16S rRNA gene sequencing and liquid chromatogram-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) were performed. At the genus level, the relative abundance of Klebsiella, Lachnoclostridium_5, and Citrobacter was found to be greater in the LPS group than in the control group. Importantly, the control group exhibited a higher ratio of Christensenellaceae_R-7_group and Parasutterella. Furthermore, intestinal metabolomics analysis in mice showed that acute endometritis altered the concentration of intestinal metabolites and affected biological oxidation, energy metabolism, and biosynthesis of primary bile acids. The correlation analysis between microbial diversity and metabolome provided a basis for a comprehensive understanding of the composition and function of the microbial community. Altogether, the findings of this study would be helpful in the prevention and treatment of acute endometritis in the future.

Inonotus obliquus Polysaccharide (IOP) is a large molecule extracted from Inonotus obliqus, a medicinal fungus, which has a wide range of biological activities and has been shown to be associated with inflammation. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether IOP can help to reduce acute endometritis by regulating intestinal flora. We observed pathological changes in mice with endometritis following treatment with IOP and evaluated changes in the levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), and further studied the effects of IOP on the intestinal flora of endometritis mice using 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that IOP improved the condition of uterine tissues and reduced the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Meanwhile, the 16S rRNA sequencing results showed that IOP could regulate the changes in intestinal microflora at the level of genera, possibly by changing the relative abundance of some genera.
