RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Cognitive dysfunction is one of the common symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) have been studied separately in the treatment of cognitive dysfunction in MDD patients. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of rTMS combined with tDCS as a new therapy to improve neurocognitive impairment in MDD patients. METHODS: In this brief 2-week, double-blind, randomized, and sham-controlled trial, a total of 550 patients were screened, and 240 MDD inpatients were randomized into four groups (active rTMS + active tDCS, active rTMS + sham tDCS, sham rTMS + active tDCS, sham rTMS + sham tDCS). Finally, 203 patients completed the study and received 10 treatment sessions over a 2-week period. The Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) was performed to assess patients' cognitive function at baseline and week 2. Also, we applied the 24-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS-24) to assess patients' depressive symptoms at baseline and week 2. RESULTS: After 10 sessions of treatment, the rTMS combined with the tDCS group showed more significant improvements in the RBANS total score, immediate memory, and visuospatial/constructional index score (all p < 0.05). Moreover, post hoc tests revealed a significant increase in the RBANS total score and Visuospatial/Constructional in the combined treatment group compared to the other three groups but in the immediate memory, the combined treatment group only showed a better improvement than the sham group. The results also showed the RBANS total score increased significantly higher in the active rTMS group compared with the sham group. However, rTMS or tDCS alone was not superior to the sham group in terms of other cognitive performance. In addition, the rTMS combined with the tDCS group showed a greater reduction in HDRS-24 total score and a better depression response rate than the other three groups. CONCLUSIONS: rTMS combined with tDCS treatment is more effective than any single intervention in treating cognitive dysfunction and depressive symptoms in MDD patients. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive brain cancer with a poor prognosis. Therefore, the correlative molecular markers and molecular mechanisms should be explored to assess the occurrence and treatment of glioma.WB and qPCR assays were used to detect the expression of CXCL5 in human GBM tissues. The relationship between CXCL5 expression and clinicopathological features was evaluated using logistic regression analysis, Wilcoxon symbolic rank test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Univariate, multivariate Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier methods were used to assess CXCL5 and other prognostic factors of GBM. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to identify pathways associated with CXCL5. The correlation between CXCL5 and tumor immunoinfiltration was investigated using single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) of TCGA data. Cell experiments and mouse subcutaneous transplanted tumor models were used to evaluate the role of CXCL5 in GBM. WB, qPCR, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemical assays showed that CXCL5 expression was increased in human GBM tissues. Furthermore, high CXCL5 expression was closely related to poor disease-specific survival and overall survival of GBM patients. The ssGSEA suggested that CXCL5 is closely related to the cell cycle and immune response through PPAR signaling pathway. GSEA also showed that CXCL5 expression was positively correlated with macrophage cell infiltration level and negatively correlated with cytotoxic cell infiltration level. CXCL5 may be associated with the prognosis and immunoinfiltration of GBM.

Scavenger receptors (SRs) are pattern recognition receptors involved in the innate immune defense against pathogen infection in fish. However, there has not been much research done on teleosts. In this study, 18 members of the SR gene family were found in large yellow croaker. The identification of the SR gene family showed that the protein length of SR members in large yellow croaker were quite different, and most SR genes were distributed in nuclear and endoplasmic. The evolutionary relationship, exon/intron structure and motif analysis revealed that members of the SR gene family were highly conserved. The results of the expression profiles after Pseudomonas plecoglossicida infection and hypoxia-exposure demonstrated that SR members were involved in inflammatory reactions. Especially, COLEC12 and SCARF1 exhibited substantial changes in response to both P. plecoglossicida and hypoxia stress, indicating their possible immunological functions. The result of this study revealed that SR genes played a vital part in the innate immune response of large yellow croaker, and would give important details for a deeper comprehension of the SR gene family's regulation mechanism under various conditions in large yellow croaker.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of argatroban on the levels of Hcy, hs-CRP and FIB in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on 382 patients with ACI who were hospitalized in the Department of Neurology of our hospital from January 2017 to December 2019. Among them, 158 patients received conventional treatment as the control group and 224 patients received combined treatment with argatroban as the study group. NHISS score, mRS score, Hcy, hs-CRP, FIB level, quality of life, adverse reactions were compared between the two groups after treatment. The levels of Hcy and hs-CRP in patients with different mRS scores were compared. RESULTS: A superior clinical efficacy of the study group was observed than the control group (p < 0.05). The study group witnessed a remarkably lower NHISS score, Hcy, hs-CRP and FIB level as compare to the control group (p < 0.05). The ADL and FMA scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The levels of Hcy and hs-CRP in mRS 0-2 patients were lower than those in mRS 3-6 patients (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Argatroban in ACI patients can significantly enhance the clinical efficacy and improve the quality of life. It is closely related to the reduction of Hcy and hs-CRP levels, but the mechanism needs to be further studied.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between types of disc displacement (DD) diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and the risk (presence or absence) and severity of condylar erosion (CE) graded using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in adult Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) patients. METHODS: A total of 353 TMD patients (283 females, 70 males) underwent MRI scans to categorise DD as normal (NA), anterior displacement with reduction (ADDR), or anterior displacement without reduction (ADDNR). CE severity was graded on a scale of 0-3 (absence, mild, moderate or severe) using CBCT. To establish the plausibility and cut-off points for CE diagnosis, the severity of CE was then further divided into three classifications: Grade 0 versus 1 + 2 + 3; Grades 0 + 1 versus 2 + 3; Grades 0 + 1 + 2 versus 3. Logistic regression analysis was performed, adjusting for age, gender and joint correlation. RESULTS: ADDNR significantly increased the risk of CE compared with NA (OR = 10.04, 95% CI: [6.41, 15.73]) and showed a significant increase in CE severity across all classifications (ORs = 10.04-18.95). The effects of ADDNR were significant in both genders (p < .001) and had a greater impact in females. ADDR was predominantly associated with mild CE. CONCLUSIONS: ADDNR significantly increased the risk and severity of CE independent of gender when compared to NA, whereas ADDR was mainly associated with mild CE. Slight cortical discontinuity may represent a subclinical diagnosis requiring further investigation.

The contrasting genome size between homosporous and heterosporous plants is fascinating. Different from the heterosporous seed plants and mainly homosporous ferns, the lycophytes are either heterosporous (Isoetales and Selaginellales) or homosporous (Lycopodiales). Many lycophytes are the resource plants of Huperzine A (HupA) which is invaluable for treating Alzheimer's disease. For the seed-free vascular plants, several high-quality genomes of heterosporous Selaginella, homosporous ferns (maidenhair fern, monkey spider tree fern), and heterosporous ferns (Azolla) have been published and provided important insights into the origin and evolution of early land plants. However, the homosporous lycophyte genome has not been decoded. Here, we assembled the first homosporous lycophyte genome and conducted comparative genomic analyses by applying a reformed pipeline for filtering out non-plant sequences. The obtained genome size of Lycopodium clavatum is 2.30 Gb, distinguished in more than 85% repetitive elements of which 62% is long terminal repeat (LTR). This study disclosed a high birth rate and a low death rate of the LTR-RTs in homosporous lycophytes, but the opposite occurs in heterosporous lycophytes. we propose that the recent activity of LTR-RT is responsible for the immense genome size variation between homosporous and heterosporous lycophytes. By combing Ks analysis with a phylogenetic approach, we discovered two whole genome duplications (WGD). Morover, we identified all the five recognized key enzymes for the HupA biosynthetic pathway in the L. clavatum genome, but found this pathway incomplete in other major lineages of land plants. Overall, this study is of great importance for the medicinal utilization of lycophytes and the decoded genome data will be a key cornerstone to elucidate the evolution and biology of early vascular land plants.

BACKGROUND: Moderate and late preterm (MLPT) birth accounts for the vast majority of preterm births, which is a global public health problem. The association between MLPT and neurobehavioral developmental delays in children and the underlying biological mechanisms need to be further revealed. The "placenta-brain axis" (PBA) provides a new perspective for gene regulation and risk prediction of neurodevelopmental delays in MLPT children. METHODS: The authors performed multivariate logistic regression models between MLPT and children's neurodevelopmental outcomes, using data from 129 MLPT infants and 3136 full-term controls from the Ma'anshan Birth Cohort (MABC). Furthermore, the authors identified the abnormally regulated PBA-related genes in MLPT placenta by bioinformatics analysis of RNA-seq data and RT-qPCR verification on independent samples. Finally, the authors established the prediction model of neurodevelopmental delay in children with MLPT using multiple machine learning models. RESULTS: The authors found an increased risk of neurodevelopmental delay in children with MLPT at 6 months, 18 months, and 48 months, especially in boys. Further verification showed that APOE and CST3 genes were significantly correlated with the developmental levels of gross-motor domain, fine-motor domain, and personal social domain in 6-month-old male MLPT children. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggested that there was a sex-specific association between MLPT and neurodevelopmental delays. Moreover, APOE and CST3 were identified as placental biomarkers. The results provided guidance for the etiology investigation, risk prediction, and early intervention of neurodevelopmental delays in children with MLPT.

BACKGROUND: Preterm birth (PTB) is the main driver of newborn deaths. The identification of pregnancies at risk of PTB remains challenging, as the incomplete understanding of molecular mechanisms associated with PTB. Although several transcriptome studies have been done on the placenta and plasma from PTB women, a comprehensive description of the RNA profiles from plasma and placenta associated with PTB remains lacking. METHODS: Candidate markers with consistent trends in the placenta and plasma were identified by implementing differential expression analysis using placental tissue and maternal plasma RNA-seq datasets, and then validated by RT-qPCR in an independent cohort. In combination with bioinformatics analysis tools, we set up two protein-protein interaction networks of the significant PTB-related modules. The support vector machine (SVM) model was used to verify the prediction potential of cell free RNAs (cfRNAs) in plasma for PTB and late PTB. RESULTS: We identified 15 genes with consistent regulatory trends in placenta and plasma of PTB while the full term birth (FTB) acts as a control. Subsequently, we verified seven cfRNAs in an independent cohort by RT-qPCR in maternal plasma. The cfRNA ARHGEF28 showed consistence in the experimental validation and performed excellently in prediction of PTB in the model. The AUC achieved 0.990 for whole PTB and 0.986 for late PTB. CONCLUSIONS: In a comparison of PTB versus FTB, the combined investigation of placental and plasma RNA profiles has shown a further understanding of the mechanism of PTB. Then, the cfRNA identified has the capacity of predicting whole PTB and late PTB.

BACKGROUND: Self-disclosure may enhance positive illness perceptions, whereas patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) always facing negative illness perceptions due to multiple reasons, so elucidation of factors affecting self-disclosure may facilitate the development of quality of life. METHODS: A total of 161 hospitalized patients with SLE were recruited. Scales on demographic and clinical characteristics, self-disclosure, psychosocial status (e.g. Social Support Rating Scale - SSRS) and quality of life were used to collect related information from clients. Univariate analysis was performed by Kruskal-Wallis rank-sum test or chi-square test, and multivariate analysis by ordinal logistic regression. RESULTS: Social support, drinking, depression and cause of hospitalization were found to be influencing factors of self-disclosure. Multiple logistic regression analyses revealed that the significant and independent factors associated with self-disclosure in patients with SLE were social support, drinking and depression. Domains of LupusQoL, except physical health and fatigue, were positively correlated with self-disclosure. CONCLUSIONS: With the increase of social support, the level of self-disclosure become worse, drinking, depression and cause of hospitalization are risk factors for it. Moreover, the level of self-disclosure is positively related to the LupusQoL. Medical staff should formulate effective measures according to the results to improve self-disclosure in patients with SLE and promote their quality of life.

AIMS: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of home-based telehealth compared with usual care on six-minute walking distance (6MWD), health-related quality of life, anxiety and depression in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. METHODS: We identified randomized controlled trials through a systematic multidatabase search. Titles and abstracts were assessed for relevance. Two authors independently extracted data and assessed the risk of bias and quality of evidence. Meta-analyses were conducted using Review Manager and Stata. RESULTS: We included 32 randomized controlled trials (n = 5232). Devices used for home-based telehealth interventions included telephones, videos, and combined devices. The quality of the evidence was downgraded due to high risk of bias, imprecision, and inconsistency. Home-based telehealth significantly increased 6MWD by 35 m (SD = 30.42) and reduced symptom burden by 3 points (SD = -2.30) on the COPD assessment test compared with usual care. However, no significant differences in anxiety and depression were noted between the home-based telehealth group and the standard care group. In subgroup analysis, home-based telehealth significantly improved 6MWD and health status after 6-12 months and >12 months. CONCLUSION: Low quality evidence showed that home-based telehealth interventions reduce symptom burden and increase walking distance to a clinically meaningful extent in patients with COPD. However, no effects on depression and anxiety were observed.

BACKGROUND: Empathy is social cognition and reduced empathy in schizophrenia (SCZ) has been noted; however, whether there are gender differences in empathy remains unclear. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore this issue by examining a large sample of the population with SCZ. METHODS: We recruited 987 SCZ patients (M/F = 638/349). The empathy was assessed by The Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was adopted to assess their clinical psychiatric symptoms and their ability to recognise the facial emotions of others was assessed by the Pictures Of Facial Affect (POFA). RESULTS: Female SCZ patients had higher IRI total score than male patients. In male patients, Pearson correlation analysis showed that empathy was negatively correlated with PANSS total score and negative symptom subscale scores, but positively correlated with anger identification. In female patients, IRI total score was negatively correlated with PANSS total score as well as its positive and negative symptom subscale scores (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: There are gender differences in the empathy of SCZ patients, with female patients having greater empathy and a correlation with their clinical symptoms. This gender difference may provide potential clinical value for the treatment of SCZ.KEY POINTSFemale SCZ were more likely to empathise than males;Female patients had more severe clinical symptoms than males;There were gender differences in the association between certain specific clinical presentations and empathy.In future studies, it may be useful to investigate gender differences in schizophrenia empathy for the diagnosis and treatment of the disorder.

A high smoking-independent chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) prevalence is observed in lung cancer patients. However, the underlying connection between these two diseases still remains unclear. Cigarette smoking and ambient air pollution are common risk factors for COPD and lung cancer. In this study, we established rat COPD model through exposure to cigarette smoke (CS) or motor vehicle exhaust (MVE). The model rats developed COPD-like phenotypes, manifested as lung functions decline, lung inflammation, emphysema-like alveolar enlargement and airway remodeling. The programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), a factor contributing to immune escape of tumor cells, was overexpressed in lungs from COPD model rats, though more severe COPD phenotypes did not bring with further PD-L1 overexpression in lung. The upregulations of proinflammatory cytokines and PD-L1 were also observed in cultured human bronchial epithelial cells BEAS-2B upon treatment with cigarette smoke extract (CSE) or diesel-related particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5, SEM1650b). The inflammatory cytokines produced in BEAS-2B cells reflected the PD-L1 levels. Furthermore, ERK1/2, a kinase mediating PD-L1 upregulation in premalignant bronchial cells or NSCLC cells, and STAT1/3, which was reportedly associated with PD-L1 expression in lung tumors, were activated in COPD rats' lungs or in BEAS-2B cells treated with CSE or PM2.5. Therefore, we proposed that inflammation associated PD-L1 overexpression in airway epithelial cells could be the underlying factor facilitating lung cancer incidence in COPD.

This meta-analysis was conducted to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of auricular acupressure on sleep quality in patients with lung cancer. Nine articles with a total of 802 patients were retrieved after searching on 11 electronic databases. Results of the meta-analysis showed that auricular acupressure improved sleep score (standard mean difference: -0.80, 95% confidence intervals: -1.30 to -0.30, P = .002) and reduced sleep disturbance rate (risk ratio: 0.65, 95% confidence intervals: 0.51-0.84, P = .001) and sleep medicine usage (risk ratio: 0.26, 95% confidence intervals: 0.11-0.65, P = .004) significantly. Our review suggests that auricular acupressure is effective and relatively safe in improving sleep quality among patients with lung cancer.

The application of perfluorocarbons, which can carry large quantities of oxygen, in organ preservation was limited by their poor solubility in water. A stable form of perfluorocarbon dispersed in suitable buffers is urgently needed. Perfluorocarbon emulsion was designed and characterized with respect to size distribution, rheology, stability, and oxygen-carrying capacity. The state of DCD rat donor livers preserved by the oxygenated perfluorocarbon emulsion was studied after ex vivo reperfusion by using biochemistry, pathology, and immunohistochemistry methods. Perfluorocarbon emulsion was successfully prepared by high-pressure homogenization. Optimized perfluorocarbon emulsion showed nanoscale size distribution, good stability, and higher oxygen loading capacity than that of HTK solution or water. The state of preserved livers after cardiac death rat liver was improved significantly after static cold storage for 48 hours in this oxygenated perfluorocarbon emulsion. The ATP content and down-regulation of HIF-1a expression after preservation of the liver graft by the oxygenated perfluorocarbon emulsion suggested the advantage of adequate oxygen supply for adequate time. This perfluorocarbon emulsion reported here might be considered a promising system for oxygenated donor liver storage by attenuation of hypoxia.

Combining Ising-type magnetic anisotropy with collinear magnetic interactions in single-molecule magnets (SMMs) is a significant synthetic challenge. Herein we report a Dy[15-MCCu -5] (1-Dy) SMM, where a DyIII ion is held in a central pseudo-D5h pocket of a rigid and planar Cu5 metallacrown (MC). Linking two Dy[15-MCCu -5] units with a single hydroxide bridge yields the double-decker {Dy[15-MCCu -5]}2 (2-Dy) SMM where the anisotropy axes of the two DyIII ions are nearly collinear, resulting in magnetic relaxation times for 2-Dy that are approximately 200 000 times slower at 2 K than for 1-Dy in zero external field. Whereas 1-Dy and the YIII -diluted Dy@2-Y analogue do not show remanence in magnetic hysteresis experiments, the hysteresis data for 2-Dy remain open up to 6 K without a sudden drop at zero field. In conjunction with theoretical calculations, these results demonstrate that the axial ferromagnetic Dy-Dy coupling suppresses fast quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM). The relaxation profiles of both complexes curiously exhibit three distinct exponential regimes, and hold the largest effective energy barriers for any reported d-f SMMs up to 625 cm-1 .

PURPOSE: Crush and Culotte techniques have been used increasingly to treat patients with complex unprotected left main coronary artery bifurcation lesions. This article compares published data on these two techniques. METHODS: Databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Wanfang Data and China National Knowledge Infrastructure, were searched for articles published before Aug 21, 2019 to identify all relevant studies on left main coronary artery bifurcation lesions treated by Crush versus Culotte techniques. The pooled data were analyzed using either fixed- or random-effects model depending on heterogeneity (assessed via the I2 index). The endpoints were major adverse cardiac events, target lesion revascularization, cardiac death, stent thrombosis, myocardial infarction and target vessel revascularization. RESULTS: Eight articles with a total of 1,283 patients were included, and 710 patients were treated with Crush, and 573 ones with Culotte. Crush group was trend to decreased major adverse cardiac event compared with Culotte group [Relative ratio (RR) 0.63,95% confidence interval(CI) 0.39-1.04, I2 =72.7%], mainly driven by decreased cardiac death [RR 0.49, 95% CI(0.25-0.99), I2 =0%], decreased myocardial infarction [RR 0.40, 95% CI(0.21-0.76), I2 =21.6%],and lower stent thrombosis [RR 0.39, 95% CI(0.16-0.98), I2 =39.4%]. There was no significant difference in target lesion revascularization and target vessel revascularization between Crush and Culotte [RR 0.77, 95% CI 0.46-1.28, I2=61.1%; RR 0.78, 95% CI (0.30-2.02), I2 =73.1%, respectively]. CONCLUSION: Crush was superior to Culotte for treatment of left main coronary artery bifurcation lesions with a trend of lower incidence of long-term major adverse cardiac events, mainly derived from decreased myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis and cardiac death.

Clarifying the molecular mechanisms by which primordial follicles are initiated is crucial for the prevention and treatment of female infertility and ovarian dysfunction. The Hippo pathway has been proven to have a spatiotemporal correlation with the size of the primordial follicle pool in mice in our previous work. But the role and underlying mechanisms of the Hippo pathway in primordial follicle activation remain unclear. Here, the localization and expression of the core components were examined in primordial follicles before and after activation. And the effects of the Hippo pathway on primordial follicle activation were determined by genetically manipulating yes-associated protein 1 (Yap1), the key transcriptional effector. Furthermore, an AKT specific inhibitor (MK2206) was added to determine the interaction between the Hippo pathway and AKT, an important signaling regulator of ovarian function. Results showed that the core components of the Hippo pathway were localized in both primordial and primary follicles and the expression levels of them changed significantly during the initiation of primordial follicles. Yap1 knockdown suppressed primordial follicle activation, while its overexpression led to the opposite trend. MK2206 downregulated the ratio of P-MST/MST1 and upregulated the ratio of P-YAP1/YAP1 significantly, whereas Yap1-treatment had no influence on AKT. In addition, YAP1 upregulation partially rescued the suppression of the primordial follicle activation induced by MK2206. Our findings revealed that the Hippo-YAP1 regulates primordial follicular activation, which is mediated by AKT signaling in mice, thus providing direct and new evidence to highlight the role of Hippo signaling in regulating ovarian follicles development.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatments are evaluated by two-dimensional (2D) in vitro culture systems, despite their limited ability to predict drug efficacy. The three-dimensional (3D) microporous scaffold provides the possibility of generating more reliable preclinical models to increase the efficacy of cancer treatments. The physical properties of a microporous cellulosic scaffold were evaluated. The cellulosic scaffold was biocompatible and had a highly porous network with appropriate pore size, swelling rate, and stiffness of cancer cell cultures. Cellulosic scaffolds were compared with 2D polystyrene for the culture of HepG2 and Huh7 human HCC cells. Cellulosic scaffolds promoted tumor spheroid formation. Cells cultured on scaffolds were more resistant to chemotherapy drugs and showed upregulation of EpCAM and Oct4. The migration ability of HCC cells cultured on scaffolds was significantly greater than that of cells grown in 2D cultures as evidenced by the downregulation of E-cadherin. In addition, the proportion of CD44+/CD133+ HCC cancer stem cells (CSCs) was significantly greater in cells cultured on scaffolds than in those grown in 2D cultures. These findings suggest that cellulosic scaffolds effectively mimic the in vivo tumor behavior and may serve as a platform for the study of anticancer therapeutics and liver CSCs.

BACKGROUND: Anopheles sinensis is one of the major malaria vectors in China and other southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand. Vector control is considered to be the critical measure for malaria control, while the increasing prevalence of insecticide resistance caused by long-term use of insecticides, especially pyrethroids, is threatening the successful control of An. sinensis. In order to understand the underlying resistance mechanisms involved and molecular basis, the principal malaria vector, An. sinensis from Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, Southeast China, was investigated. METHODS: The adult Anopheles mosquitoes were sampled from multiple sites across Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, and sufficient mosquitoes collected from eleven sites for insecticide susceptibility bioassays. The DIIS4-DIIS6 region of the para-type sodium channel gene was amplified and sequenced, then multiple PCR and Taqman assays were used to assess the frequencies of kdr mutations at the target gene. RESULTS: In the present study, most of the adult An. sinensis populations were pyrethroids resistant, which indicated the presence of kdr resistance mutations in the para-type sodium channel gene. Sequence analyses demonstrated the kdr mutation existed at codon 1014 in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces. In adult An. sinensis, three mutant types (TTT L1014F, TTC L1014F, and TGT L1014C) of kdr alleles were detected, while no wild type (TTG L1014) was observed. The TTC L1014F mutation was first reported in Anhui province. CONCLUSIONS: The highly polymorphic kdr alleles were observed in all the adult An. sinensis populations, which suggested that in-depth studies are required for carrying on insecticide resistance monitoring and specific resistance mechanisms studying into establish effective long-term malaria vector control program in eastern China.
