RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To explore clinical effect of precast curvature internal fixation with Kirschner needle in treating forearm fracture in children. METHODS: From October 2019 to December 2022,32 children with forearm fractures were treated with precast curvature internal fixation with Kirkler's needles, including 25 males and 7 females, aged from 3 to 15 years old with an average of (8.0±0.5) years old,18 patients on the left side and 14 on the right side,24 patients with double fractures of radial and ulna,3 patients with Monteggia fractures, and 4 patients with Galeazzi fractures, and 1 patient with radial neck fracture of crooked cap. Operation time, intraoperative blood loss,C-arm fluoroscopy, fracture healing time and complications were recorded, and disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) scale and Grace-Eversman forearm double fracture evaluation system were used to evaluate clinical efficacy of precast curvature internal fixation with Kirschner's needle for forearm fracture in children. RESULTS: All 32 patients were followed up for 2 to 12 months with an average of (7.16±2.51) months. Intraoperative blood loss was (20.68±5.50) ml,C-arm fluoroscopy was(5.80±2.50),and operation time was (24.34±5.10) min, fracture healing time was (8.82±1.62) weeks. Two patients occurred complications, including postoperative rupture of extensor pollicis longus tendon in 1 patient and obvious displacement of fracture caused by rotation of prefabricated curvature Kirschler needle on bone marrow cavity in 1 patient. DASH scores ranged from 0 to 16 scores with an average of (8.32±1.50) scores. According to Grace-Eversman double fracture evaluation system,28 patients got excellent result,2 good and 2 fair. CONCLUSION: The treatment of forearm fracture with Kirschner's needle prefabricated curvature internal fixation has advantages of less trauma, less bleeding, good reduction, stable fixation, fast fracture healing and good functional recovery.

RESUMEN

The development of a suitable immobilization strategy to improve the performance of immobilized glucose isomerase for the isomerization of glucose to fructose is crucial to promoting the industrial production of high-fructose syrup. In this work, a novel recyclable upper critical solution temperature (UCST)-type mVBA-b-P(AAm-co-AN)@glucose isomerase biocatalyst (PVAA@GI) was prepared, and the immobilized glucose isomerase could capture the glucose substrate through the affinity of 4-vinylbenzeneboronic acid (4-VBA) and the glucose substrate, which led to the enhanced substrate affinity and catalytic efficiency of the PVAA@GI. The biocatalyst exhibited excellent stability in pH, thermal, storage, and recycling compared to the free enzyme. The mVBA-b-P(AAm-co-AN)@glucose isomerase biocatalyst displayed reversibly soluble-insoluble characteristics with temperature change, which was in the soluble state during the enzyme reaction process but could be recovered in an insoluble form by lowering the temperature after the reaction. The highest fructose production rate reached 62.79%, which would have potential application in the industrial production of high-fructose syrup.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Neonatal pneumonia (NP) has a high fatality rate in neonatal illness. This research investigated the functions of emodin on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-evoked inflammatory injury in WI-38 cells. METHODS: Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and flow cytometry were utilized for examining the impacts of LPS and emodin on viability and apoptosis, respectively. Taurine up-regulated gene 1 (TUG1) level was altered through cell transfection and investigated by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Moreover, RT-qPCR, western blot and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were utilized for investigating expressions of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and interleukin (IL)-6. Western blot was carried out for investigating the levels of Bcl-2, Bax, pro-Caspase-3, cleaved-Caspase-3 and NF-κB and p38MAPK pathway-related proteins. RESULTS: LPS treatment restrained cell viability, enhanced apoptosis, and expressions of inflammation-related IL-6 and MCP-1. Emodin alleviated LPS-evoked inflammatory injury and restrained the NF-κB and p38MAPK pathways. Furthermore, emodin positively regulated TUG1 expression and TUG1 silencing could reverse the efficacy of emodin on IL-6 and MCP-1 expressions. Finally, TUG1 regulates the expression of inflammatory factors through NF-κB and p38MAPK pathways. CONCLUSION: Emodin alleviated LPS-evoked inflammatory injury by raising TUG1 expression via NF-κB and p38MAPK pathways in WI-38 cells.
