RESUMEN

The plant rapid alkalinization factor (RALF) peptides function as key regulators in cell growth and immune responses through the receptor kinase FERONIA (FER). In this study, we report that the transcription factor FgPacC binds directly to the promoter of FgRALF gene, which encodes a functional homologue of the plant RALF peptides from the wheat head blight fungus Fusarium graminearum (FgRALF). More importantly, FgPacC promotes fungal infection via host immune suppression by activating the expression of FgRALF. The FgRALF peptide also exhibited typical activities of plant RALF functions, such as inducing plant alkalinization and inhibiting cell growth, including wheat (Triticum aestivum), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and Arabidopsis thaliana. We further identified the wheat receptor kinase FERONIA (TaFER), which is capable of restoring the defects of the A. thaliana FER mutant. In addition, we found that FgRALF peptide binds to the extracellular malectin-like domain (ECD) of TaFER (TaFERECD) to suppress the PAMP-triggered immunity (PTI) and cell growth. Overexpression of TaFERECD in A. thaliana confers plant resistance to F. graminearum and protects from FgRALF-induced cell growth inhibition. Collectively, our results demonstrate that the fungal pathogen-secreted RALF mimic suppresses host immunity and inhibits cell growth via plant FER receptor. This establishes a novel pathway for the development of disease-resistant crops in the future without compromising their yield potential.

Interleukin-33 (IL-33), secreted by astrocytes, regulates the synapse development in the spinal cord and hippocampus and suppresses autoimmune disease in the central nervous system (CNS). However, the mechanism of unconventional protein secretion of this cytokine remains unclear. In this study, we found that IFN-γ promotes the active secretion of IL-33 from astrocytes, and the active secretion of IL-33 from cytoplasm to extracellular space was dependent on interaction with transmembrane emp24 domain 10 (TMED10) via the IL-1 like cytokine domain in astrocytes. Knockout of Il-33 or its receptor St2 induced hippocampal astrocyte activation and depressive-like disorder in naive mice, as well as increased spinal cord astrocyte activation and polarization to a neurotoxic reactive subtype and aggravated passive experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Our results have identified that IL-33 is actively secreted by astrocytes through the unconventional protein secretion pathway facilitated by TMED10 channels. This process helps maintain CNS homeostasis by inhibiting astrocyte activation.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the bidirectional relationship of late-onset epilepsy (LOE) with dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS: Using the common electronic databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library databases and EMBASE, we systematically reviewed published cohort studies that assessed the risk of LOE in individuals comorbid with dementia or AD, and those with dementia or AD comorbid with LOE that had been published up to 31 March 2023. The data extraction process was carried out independently by two authors. The summary adjusted relative ratio (aRR) was calculated by employing Rev Man 5.3 for the inclusion of studies. To investigate the origins of heterogeneity, we conducted both subgroup and sensitivity analyses. In the presence of heterogeneity, a random-effects model was employed. To evaluate potential publication bias, we utilized the funnel plot and conducted Begg's and Egger's tests. RESULTS: We included 20 eligible studies in the final analysis after a rigorous screening process. Pooled results indicated that LOE was association with an increased risk of all-cause dementia (aRR: 1.34, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.13-1.59) and AD (aRR: 2.49, 95% CI: 1.16-5.32). In addition, the pooled effect size for LOE associated with baseline AD and all-cause dementia were 3.51 (95% CI: 3.47-3.56) and 2.53 (95% CI: 2.39-2.67), respectively. Both sensitivity and subgroup analyses showed that these positive correlations persisted. According to the results of the Egger's and Begg's tests, as well as visual inspection of funnel plots, none of the studies appeared to be biased by publication. CONCLUSION: The findings suggested that LOE is a potential risk factor for dementia and AD, and vice versa, dementia and AD are both potential risk indicators for LOE. Since there is substantial heterogeneity among the cohorts analyzed and more cohort studies should be conducted to confirm the correlations found in the current study.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Previous studies reported inconsistent results on the prevalence and prognostic implications of frailty among older adults with gastric cancer. This systematic review synthesized available literature pertaining on this topic to establish the prevalence and unfavorable outcomes of frailty in older adults with gastric cancer. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple English databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase, and Web of Science as well as Chinese databases, namely, CNKI, Wan Fang, and CBM, from inception to July 4, 2023, to identify potential studies. Data related to the incidence of frailty and its unfavorable outcomes in older adults with gastric cancer were extracted. RevMan5.3 and R 4.2.2 were used to evaluate pooled prevalence, hazard ratios (HR), and 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS: This review comprehensively selected 13 studies, comprising 9 cohort studies and 4 cross-sectional studies, on 44,117 older adults diagnosed with gastric cancer. The incidence of frailty among older adults with gastric cancer ranged from 10 to 71%. The pooled prevalence of frailty was 29% (95% CI 0.21-0.39). Frailty was found to be associated with an elevated risk of postoperative complications (HR = 1.99, 95% CI 1.45-2.73), prolonged postoperative hospital stay (HR = 2.68, 95% CI 2.38-3.02), likelihood of readmission (HR = 3.28, 95% CI 1.77-6.08), and an increased mortality risk (HR = 1.60, 95% CI 1.36-1.90). CONCLUSIONS: Frailty was associated with a poor prognosis in older adults with gastric cancer. Clinical medical staff should focus on the frailty of older adults with gastric cancer, conduct large-scale, multicenter, and prospective studies and early screening of patients, and provide guidance for the implementation of prevention and treatment strategies.

Multi-frame super-resolution (MFSR) leverages complementary information between image sequences of the same scene to increase the resolution of the reconstructed image. As a branch of MFSR, burst super-resolution aims to restore image details by leveraging the complementary information between noisy sequences. In this paper, we propose an efficient burst-enhanced super-resolution network (BESR). Specifically, we introduce Geformer, a gate-enhanced transformer, and construct an enhanced CNN-Transformer block (ECTB) by combining convolutions to enhance local perception. ECTB efficiently aggregates intra-frame context and inter-frame correlation information, yielding an enhanced feature representation. Additionally, we leverage reference features to facilitate inter-frame communication, enhancing spatiotemporal coherence among multiple frames. To address the critical processes of inter-frame alignment and feature fusion, we propose optimized pyramid alignment (OPA) and hybrid feature fusion (HFF) modules to capture and utilize complementary information between multiple frames to recover more high-frequency details. Extensive experiments demonstrate that, compared to state-of-the-art methods, BESR achieves higher efficiency and competitively superior reconstruction results. On the synthetic dataset and real-world dataset of BurstSR, our BESR achieves PSNR values of 42.79 dB and 48.86 dB, respectively, outperforming other MFSR models significantly.

An overexpression of sialic acid is an indicator of metastatic cancer, and selective detection of sialic acid shows potential for cancer diagnosis. Boronic acid is a promising candidate for this purpose because of its ability to specifically bind to sialic acid under acidic conditions. Notably, the binding strength can be easily modulated by adjusting the pH, which allows for a simple dissociation of the bound sialic acid. In this study, we developed 5-boronopicolinic acid (5-BPA)-modified magnetic particles (BMPs) to selectively capture sialic acid biomolecules. We successfully captured fetuin, a well-known sialoglycoprotein, on BMPs at >104 molecules/particle using an acetate buffer (pH 5.0). Facile dissociation then occurred when the system was changed to a pH 7.6 phosphate buffer. This capture-and-release process could be repeated at least five times. Moreover, this system could enrich fetuin by more than 20 times. In summary, BMPs are functional particles for facile purification and concentration through the selective capture of sialic acid proteins and can improve detection sensitivity compared with conventional methods. This technology shows potential for the detection of sialic acid overexpression by biological particles.

Time-of-death extrapolation has always been one of the most important issues in forensic practice. For a complicated case in which a corpse is destroyed with little evidence, judging the time of death of the deceased is a major challenge, which also enables criminals to escape legal sanctions. To find a method to roughly judge the time of death of a corpse with only a small amount of skin tissue, in this study, we established an early death model by using mice; furthermore, the postmortem interval was estimated by determining the protein and mRNA levels of Bax and Bcl-2 in the skin. In this process, 0 h after death was used as the control group, and the expression levels of Bax and Caspase-3 reached the maximum value at 8-12 h, while Bcl-2, as an inhibitor of apoptosis protein, peaked after 24 h. The mRNA expression levels of related proteins in postmortem skin tissues were also different. The results of these data indicate that the protein and mRNA levels of Bax and Bcl-2 in the skin have potential application in early time-of-death estimation.

In the field of edge computing, quantizing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) using extremely low bit widths can significantly alleviate the associated storage and computational burdens in embedded hardware, thereby improving computational efficiency. However, such quantization also presents a challenge related to substantial decreases in detection accuracy. This paper proposes an innovative method, called Adaptive Global Power-of-Two Ternary Quantization Based on Unfixed Boundary Thresholds (APTQ). APTQ achieves adaptive quantization by quantizing each filter into two binary subfilters represented as power-of-two values, thereby addressing the accuracy degradation caused by a lack of expression ability of low-bit-width weight values and the contradiction between fixed quantization boundaries and the uneven actual weight distribution. It effectively reduces the accuracy loss while at the same time presenting strong hardware-friendly characteristics because of the power-of-two quantization. This paper extends the APTQ algorithm to propose the APQ quantization algorithm, which can adapt to arbitrary quantization bit widths. Furthermore, this paper designs dedicated edge deployment convolutional computation modules for the obtained quantized models. Through quantization comparison experiments with multiple commonly used CNN models utilized on the CIFAR10, CIFAR100, and Mini-ImageNet data sets, it is verified that the APTQ and APQ algorithms possess better accuracy performance than most state-of-the-art quantization algorithms and can achieve results with very low accuracy loss in certain CNNs (e.g., the accuracy loss of the APTQ ternary ResNet-56 model on CIFAR10 is 0.13%). The dedicated convolutional computation modules enable the corresponding quantized models to occupy fewer on-chip hardware resources in edge chips, thereby effectively improving computational efficiency. This adaptive CNN quantization method, combined with the power-of-two quantization results, strikes a balance between the quantization accuracy performance and deployment efficiency in embedded hardware. As such, valuable insights for the industrial edge computing domain can be gained.

RESUMEN

An efficient carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2RR), which reduces CO2 to low-carbon fuels and high-value chemicals, is a promising approach for realizing the goal of carbon neutrality, for which effective but low-cost catalysts are critically important. Recently, many inorganic perovskite-based materials with tunable chemical compositions have been applied in the electrochemical CO2RR, which exhibited advanced catalytic performance. Therefore, a timely review of this progress, which has not been reported to date, is imperative. Herein, the physicochemical characteristics, fabrication methods and applications of inorganic perovskites and their derivatives in electrochemical CO2RR are systematically reviewed, with emphasis on the structural evolution and product selectivity of these electrocatalysts. What is more, the current challenges and future directions of perovskite-based materials regarding efficient CO2RR are proposed, to shed light on the further development of this prospective research area.

Laparoscopic approach is the gold standard for repairing hiatal hernia (HH). Robotic technology is now widely accepted, but it is rarely used in children with HH. Our aim was to evaluate the clinical effect of robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery (RALS) and conventional laparoscopic surgery (CLS) in the treatment of HH in children. A retrospective study was carried out in patients undergoing elective robot-assisted laparoscopic or conventional laparoscopic HH repair at a tertiary academic hospital from January 2020 to December 2022, and patients who met the inclusion criteria were included in this study. We compared the characteristics and clinical results of patients to understand the effects of the two surgical methods. Forty-six patients (CLS, group 1, n = 25; RALS, group 2, n = 21) met the inclusion criteria. All operations were performed by one experienced pediatric surgeon. In this study, no significant differences were found in terms of gender, age, weight, size of HH, total operation times, the effective operation time (excluding setup time) and complications between group 1 and group 2. (P = 0.979, P = 0.438, P = 0.265, P = 0.800, P = 0.122, P = 0.427 and P = 0.478, respectively). However, the intraoperative bleeding, the intensive care unit (ICU) admission, postoperative hospital length of stay (LOS) and postoperative fasting time were significantly less for RALS (P = 0.016, P = 0.040, P = 0.035 and P = 0.025, respectively). Meanwhile, the overall charges were significantly higher in group 2 (P < 0.01). Despite higher charges for robotic-assisted HH repair, it is a safe and reliable alternative to CLS and was associated with better outcomes in children.

Emergency braking can generate forward displacement that may influence the effectiveness of protection in collisions, especially for passengers. The development of automated vehicles has enabled the diversification and rationalization of sitting positions, including reclined seating. However, the passenger response in pre-crash scenarios in reclined seating differs from that in standard seating, which poses different requirements for biofidelic human body models (HBMs) to evaluate passenger injuries in collisions. This study conducted emergency braking trials in vehicles at an initial velocity of 80 km/h. Five volunteers were exposed to approximately 1 g manual emergency braking (MEB), and the muscle responses at the front passenger seat with backrest angles of 25°, 45°, and 65° were recorded. The electromyography obtained from 14 muscles of the neck, torso, and lower extremity were normalized using maximum voluntary contractions (MVCs). In the quiet sitting phase, the activity levels were low (< 5% MVC) in all muscles for the three sitting positions. During emergency braking, the muscles are activated to restrict the body motion. There were differences in muscle amplitude and onset time in different backrest angles, with higher muscle activity levels in most muscles in a reclined sitting position. In particular, the sternocleidomastoid, rectus abdominis, and vastus medialis showed different patterns in the peak and steady-state phases. We found that the tibialis anterior was consistently activated at a lower level in all sitting postures (< 8% MVC), which indicates limited support of the shank for the body. The data provided in the paper are presented in corridors and intended for use in the development and validation of HBMs with active muscle models to simulate evasive maneuvers that potentially occur before a crash in the reclined sitting position.

Asymmetric synthesis of 3-sulfonylated 3-substituted oxindoles through the addition of sodium sulfinate salts to 3-bromo-3-substituted oxindoles has been achieved using chiral nickel complexes of N,N'-dioxides. This method facilitates the creation of diverse chiral sulfonyl oxindoles, several of which display promising anticancer properties. Notably, the catalyst demonstrates remarkable tolerance to water, crucial for maintaining enantioselectivity. Furthermore, the utilization of topographic steric maps of the catalysts offers valuable insights into the mechanism underlying enantioselection reversal.

BACKGROUND: Although intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) thrombolysis is the most effective early treatment for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), outcomes vary greatly among patients. Left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD) is prone to distant organ ischemia and may be a predictor for poor prognosis in AIS patients undergoing intravenous thrombolysis (IVT). Our aim was to investigate the predictivity of LVSD diagnosis (as measured by left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)) on 90-day clinical outcomes in AIS patients undergoing thrombolysis. METHODS: The current prospective cohort study continuously enrolled 273 AIS patients from the National Stroke Prevention and Treatment Engineering Management Special Database who underwent IVT and completed echocardiography within 24 h of admission between 2021 and 2023. LVSD was examined by evaluation of the echocardiographic LVEF values using Simpson's biplane method of discs in line with international guidelines, and defined as a LVEF value < 50%. Multivariable ordinal logistic regression model was performed to analyze the association between LVEF and functional outcome at 3 months. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) was used to examine the shape of the dose-response association between reduced LVEF and poor functional outcomes. Subgroup analysis was also employed to further verify the reliability and practicability of the results. RESULTS: Baseline data analysis showed LVSD patients had more comorbidities including on multivariate analyses, LVSD (OR 2.78, 95% CI 1.23 to 6.24, P=0.014), pre-existing diabetes mellitus (OR 2.08, 95% CI 1.11 to 3.90, P=0.023) and NIHSS on arrival (OR 1.31, 95% CI 1.21 to 1.49, P<0.001) were independent predictors of poor functional outcomes (mRS ≥ 3) at 3 months. Multivariable-adjusted spline regression indicated a linear dose-response association between LVEF after IVT and poor functional outcomes (p for linearity < 0.001), with the optimal cutoff values of LVEF being 0.48. CONCLUSIONS: Our finding indicated that AIS patients with LVSD after IVT had poorer outcomes, suggesting the need to monitor and optimize LVEF in stroke management.

OBJECTIVE: Several studies have illustrated that elevated RC levels are related to a heightened risk of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Our research aimed to explore the correlation between RC levels and poor prognosis after a 90-day interval in AIS patients. METHODS: A total of 287 individuals were enrolled in the study, the primary outcome was defined as poor prognosis. RC was derived by the exclusion of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) from total cholesterol (TC). RESULTS: Following the screening process, 253 AIS patients were included in the study, presenting a median age of 66[57, 75] years. Upon stratifying RC levels into quartiles, those in the top quartile faced a greater likelihood of diabetes diagnosis (42.86%, p = .014) and experienced a higher rate of unfavorable outcomes after 90 days (36.51%, p = .001). After accounting for confounding factors, the correlation between the fourth quartile of RC levels and the amplified likelihood of poor prognosis remained significant (odds ratio (OR) 8.471, 95% confidence interval (CI) (1.841, 38.985); p = .006). Analysis of subgroups unveiled a notable correlation between higher RC levels and poor 90-day prognosis, particularly in individuals with elevated NIHSS scores (p = .044). A progressively increasing 90-day risk of poor prognosis after an RC greater than 0.38 mmol/L was visualized by restricted cubic spline plots (p-overall = .011). CONCLUSIONS: Including RC as a contributing element may refine the prediction of poor 90-day prognosis for AIS patients. Integrating RC with traditional risk factors can potentially enhance the predictive value for cerebrovascular disease.

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) causes bacterial blight in rice. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) consitute a diverse group of biopolyesters synthesized by bacteria under nutrient-limited conditions. The phaC gene is important for PHA polymerization. We investigated the effects of phaC gene mutagensis in Xoo strain PXO99A. The phaC gene knock-out mutant exhibited reduced swarming ability relative to that of the wild-type. Under conditions where glucose was the sole sugar source, extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) production by ΔphaC declined by 44.8%. ΔphaC showed weak hypersensitive response (HR) induction in the leaves of non-host Nicotiana tabacum, concomitant with downregulation of hpa1 gene expression. When inoculated in rice leaves by the leaf-clipping method, ΔphaC displayed reduced virulence in terms of lesion length compared with the wild-type strain. The complemented strain showed no significant difference from the wild-type strain, suggesting that the deletion of phaC in Xoo induces significant alterations in various physiological and biological processes. These include bacterial swarming ability, EPS production, transcription of hrp genes, and glucose metabolism. These changes are intricately linked to the energy utilization and virulence of Xoo during plant infection. These findings revealed involvement of phaC in Xoo is in the maintaining carbon metabolism by functioning in the PHA metabolic pathway.

Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) in the treatment of pulmonary sequestration (PS) in children. Methods: All video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and RAST performed on patients with PS at a single center from May 2019 to July 2023 were identified. The χ 2 and Wilcoxon tests were used to compare the perioperative outcomes between VATS and RATS groups. Results: Ninety-three patients underwent RATS while 77 patients underwent VATS. In both two groups, one patient converted to thoracotomy and no surgical mortality case. The median operation time was longer for the RATS group compared with the VATS group (75 min vs. 60 min, p <0.001). A lower ratio of chest tube indwelling (61.3% vs. 90.9%, p <0.001), fewer drainage days (1.0 day vs. 2.0 days, p <0.001), and a shorter postoperative length of stay (5.0 days vs. 6.0 days, p <0.001) were found in the RATS group than that in the VATS group. No significant difference was found in the incidence of short-term postoperative complications (hydrothorax and pneumothorax) between two groups. Conclusions: RATS was safe and effective in children with PS over 6 months old and more than 7 kg. Furthermore, RATS led to better short-time postoperative outcome than VATS. Multi-institutional studies are warranted to compare differences in long-term outcomes between RATS and VATS.

Background and Purpose: The role of serum uric acid (UA) level in patients suffering from stroke remains controversial. Our aim was to investigate the effect of UA level on clinical outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Methods: In the retrospective cohort study, we analyzed data from 250 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (85 women and 165 men) to investigate the difference in UA levels between patients with a good prognosis and those with a poor prognosis. Additionally, we analyzed the impact of UA levels on the risk of short-time prognosis of ICH patients. Results: Patients with a good prognosis presented with significantly lower levels of UA (348.71 ± 84.97 µmol/L) than those with poor prognosis (393.06 ± 148.46 µmol/L). Furthermore, multivariate logistic regression model demonstrated that a high UA level was a likely risk factor for worse prognosis among patients suffering in ICH (odds ratio [95% confidence interval], 1.006 [1.0012, 1.0108]; P = 0.015). Additionally, UA has a threshold effect value of 363.9 µmol/L and was presented in levels that were in a nonlinear relationship with incidence rate of short-time prognosis outcome of ICH patients. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that higher UA levels can increase the risk of poor clinical prognosis in patients with ICH and high UA levels are not conductive to the clinical prognosis of patients with ICH. These findings provide a new perspective on the treatment and prevention of ICH.

Objective: Bioengineered tracheal grafts are a potential solution for the repair of long-segment tracheal defects. A recent advancement is partially decellularized tracheal grafts (PDTGs) which enable regeneration of host epithelium and retain viable donor chondrocytes for hypothesized benefits to mechanical properties. We propose a novel and tunable 3D-printed bioreactor for creating large animal PDTG that brings this technology closer to the bedside. Methods: Conventional agitated immersion with surfactant and enzymatic activity was used to partially decellularize New Zealand white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) tracheal segments (n = 3). In parallel, tracheal segments (n = 3) were decellularized in the bioreactor with continuous extraluminal flow of medium and alternating intraluminal flow of surfactant and medium. Unprocessed tracheal segments (n = 3) were also collected as a control. The grafts were assessed using the H&E stain, tissue DNA content, live/dead assay, Masson's trichrome stain, and mechanical testing. Results: Conventional processing required 10 h to achieve decellularization of the epithelium and submucosa with poor chondrocyte viability and mechanical strength. Using the bioreactor reduced processing time by 6 h and resulted in chondrocyte viability and mechanical strength similar to that of native trachea. Conclusion: Large animal PDTG created using our novel 3D printed bioreactor is a promising approach to efficiently produce tracheal grafts. The bioreactor offers flexibility and adjustability favorable to creating PDTG for clinical research and use. Future research includes optimizing flow conditions and transplantation to assess post-implant regeneration and mechanical properties. Level of Evidence: NA.

Despite intensive studies on plant functional traits, the intraspecific variation and their co-variation at the multi-scale remains poorly studied, which holds the potential to unveil plant responses to changing environmental conditions. In this study, intraspecific variations of 16 leaf functional traits of a common fig species, Ficus tinctoria G. Frost., were investigated in relation to different scales: habitat types (hemiepiphytic and terrestrial), growth stages (small, medium and large) and tree crown positions (upper, middle and lower) in Xishuangbanna, Southwest China. Remarkable intraspecific variation was observed in leaf functional traits, which was mainly influenced by tree crown position, growth stage and their interaction. Stable nitrogen isotope (δ15N) and leaf area (LA) showed large variations, while stable carbon isotope (δ13C), stomata width and leaf water content showed relatively small variations, suggesting that light- and nitrogen-use strategies of F. tinctoria were plastic, while the water-use strategies have relatively low plasticity. The crown layers are formed with the growth of figs, and leaves in the lower crown increase their chlorophyll concentration and LA to improve the light energy conversion efficiency and the ability to capture weak light. Meanwhile, leaves in the upper crown increase the water-use efficiency to maintain their carbon assimilation. Moreover, hemiepiphytic medium (transitional stage) and large (free-standing stage) figs exhibited more significant trait differentiation (chlorophyll concentration, δ13C, stomata density, etc.) within the crown positions, and stronger trait co-variation compared with their terrestrial counterparts. This pattern demonstrates their acclimation to the changing microhabitats formed by their hemiepiphytic life history. Our study emphasizes the importance of multi-scaled intraspecific variation and co-variation in trait-based strategies of hemiepiphyte and terrestrial F. tinctoria, which facilitate them to cope with different environmental conditions.
