BACKGROUND: Siblings of children with cancer may experience adverse household economic consequences, but their financial outcomes in adulthood are unknown. METHODS: A total of 880 siblings (aged 18-64 years) of adult-aged childhood cancer survivors were surveyed to estimate the prevalence of financial hardship by three established domains (behavioral, material, and psychological). For individual financial hardship items matching the contemporaneous National Health Interview Survey or Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, siblings were compared with the general population by calculating adjusted prevalence odds ratios (ORs) to sample-weighted responses. Multivariable logistic regression models examined associations between sibling characteristics and each hardship domain and between sibling hardship and survivors' cancer/treatment characteristics. RESULTS: Behavioral, material, and psychological hardship was reported by 24%, 35%, and 28%, respectively. Compared with national survey respondents, siblings were more likely to report worries about medical bills (OR, 1.14; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.06-1.22), difficulty affording nutritious foods (OR, 1.79; 95% CI, 1.54-2.07), and forgoing needed medical care (OR, 1.38; 95% CI, 1.10-1.73), prescription medications (OR, 2.52; 95% CI, 1.99-3.20), and dental care (OR, 1.34; 95% CI, 1.15-1.57) because of cost. Sibling characteristics associated with reporting financial hardship in one or more domains included female sex, older age, chronic health conditions, lower income, not having health insurance, high out-of-pocket medical expenditures, and nonmedical/nonhome debt. No survivor cancer/treatment characteristics were associated with sibling financial hardship. CONCLUSIONS: Adult siblings of childhood cancer survivors were more likely to experience financial hardship compared with the general population. Childhood cancer may adversely affect entire households, with potentially lasting implications.

Aluminum (Al) exposure has been linked to the development of a variety of neurodegenerative diseases. However, whether m6A RNA methylation participated in Al-induced neurotoxicity remain to be defined. In this study, mice were administrated with aluminum-lactate at dose of 220 mg/kg. bw by gavage for 3 months. Meanwhile, the primary hippocampal neurons were isolated and treated with 0, 50, 100, 150 µM aluminum-lactate, respectively for 7 days. Al exposure caused neuronal shrinkage, decreased Nissl bodies, and increased apoptosis. In accordance, in vitro studies also showed that Al exposure led to neuronal apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner, together with the decline in m6A RNA methylation levels. Moreover, the mRNA expression of Mettl3, Mettl14, Fto, and Ythdf2 were decreased upon Al exposure. Notably, the protein expression of METTL3 was dramatically down-regulated by 42% and 35% in Al-treated mice and neurons, suggesting METTL3 might exert a crucial role in Al-induced neurotoxicity. We next established a mouse model with hippocampus-specific overexpressing of Mettl3 gene to confirm the regulatory role of RNA methylation and found that METTL3 overexpression relieved the neurological injury induced by Al. The integrated MeRIP-seq and RNA-seq analysis elucidated that 631 genes were differentially expressed at both m6A RNA methylation and mRNA expression. Notably, EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor resistance, Rap1 signaling pathway, protein digestion and absorption might be involved in Al-induced neurotoxicity. Moreover, VEGFA, Thbs1, and PDGFB might be the central molecules. Collectively, our findings provide the novel sight into the role of m6A RNA methylation in neurodegenerative disease induced by Al.

Incongruent perceptions of parental emotional expressivity between parents and adolescents may signify relational challenges, potentially impacting adolescents' socioemotional adjustment. Direct evidence is still lacking and father-adolescent discrepancies are overlooked. This study employed a multi-informant design to investigate whether both mother-adolescent and father-adolescent discrepancies in perceptions of parental expressivity are related to adolescents' mental well-being, specifically focusing on loneliness and depression. Analyzing data from 681 families (mean age of adolescents = 15.5 years old, 51.2% girls, 40% only-children) in China revealed that adolescents tended to perceive paternal and maternal emotional expressivity more negatively than their parents, particularly fathers. Polynomial regression and response surface analysis showed significant links between parent-adolescent congruence and incongruence and adolescent loneliness. (In)Congruence between adolescents and mothers or fathers predicted later adolescent depression, mediated by adolescent loneliness and varied by the dimension of emotional expressivity. These findings provide insights into the roles of mothers' and fathers' emotional expressivity in shaping children's mental well-being during adolescence.

Chemotherapeutics can induce immunogenic cell death (ICD) by triggering autophagy and mediate antitumor immunotherapy. However, using chemotherapeutics alone can only cause mild cell-protective autophagy and be incapable of inducing sufficient ICD efficacy. The participation of autophagy inducer is competent to enhance autophagy, so the level of ICD is promoted and the effect of antitumor immunotherapy is highly increased. Herein, tailor-made autophagy cascade amplification polymeric nanoparticles STF@AHPPE are constructed to enhance tumor immunotherapy. Arginine (Arg), polyethyleneglycol-polycaprolactone, and epirubicin (EPI) are grafted onto hyaluronic acid (HA) via disulfide bond to form the AHPPE nanoparticles and autophagy inducer STF-62247 (STF) is loaded. When STF@AHPPE nanoparticles target to tumor tissues and efficiently enter into tumor cells with the help of HA and Arg, the high glutathione concentration leads to the cleavage of disulfide bond and the release of EPI and STF. Finally, STF@AHPPE induces violent cytotoxic autophagy and strong ICD efficacy. As compared to AHPPE nanoparticles, STF@AHPPE nanoparticles kill the most tumor cells and show the more obvious ICD efficacy and immune activation ability. This work provides a novel strategy for combining tumor chemo-immunotherapy with autophagy induction.

Photoperiod-sensitive plants such as soybean (Glycine max) often face threats from herbivorous insects throughout their whole growth period and especially during flowering; however, little is known about the relationship between plant flowering and insect resistance. Here, we used gene editing, multiple omics, genetic diversity and evolutionary analyses to confirm that the calcium-dependent protein kinase GmCDPK38 plays a dual role in coordinating flowering time regulation and insect resistance of soybean. Haplotype 2 (Hap2)-containing soybeans flowered later and were more resistant to the common cutworm (Spodoptera litura Fabricius) than those of Hap3. gmcdpk38 mutants with Hap3 knocked out exhibited similar flowering and resistance phenotypes as Hap2. Knocking out GmCDPK38 altered numerous flowering- and resistance-related phosphorylated proteins, genes, and metabolites. For example, the S-adenosylmethionine synthase GmSAMS1 was post-translationally upregulated in the gmcdpk38 mutants. GmCDPK38 has abundant genetic diversity in wild soybeans and was likely selected during soybean domestication. We found that Hap2 was mostly distributed at low latitudes and had a higher frequency in cultivars than in wild soybeans, while Hap3 was widely selected at high latitudes. Overall, our results elucidated that the two distinct traits (flowering time and insect resistance) are mediated by GmCDPK38.

Adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated gene therapy is a novel treatment promising to reduce morbidity associated with hemophilia. Although multiple clinical trials continue to evaluate efficacy and safety, limited cost-effectiveness data have been published. This study compared the potential cost-effectiveness of AAV-mediated factor IX (FIX)-Padua gene therapy for patients with severe hemophilia B in the United States vs on-demand FIX replacement and primary FIX prophylaxis, using either standard or extended half-life FIX products. A microsimulation Markov model was constructed, and transition probabilities between health states and utilities were informed by using published data. Costs were aggregated by using a microcosting approach. A time horizon from 18 years old until death, from the perspective of a third-party payer in the United States, was conducted. Gene therapy was more cost-effective than both alternatives considering a $150 000/quality-adjusted life-year threshold. The price for gene therapy was assumed to be $2 000 000 in the base case scenario; however, one of the 1-way sensitivity analyses was conducted by using observed manufacturing, administration, and 5-year follow-up costs of $87 198 for AAV-mediated gene therapy vector as derived from the manufacturing facility and clinical practice at St Jude Children's Research Hospital. One-way sensitivity analyses revealed 10 of 102 scenarios in which gene therapy was not cost-effective compared with alternative treatments. Notably, gene therapy remained cost-effective in a hypothetical scenario in which we estimated that the discounted factor concentrate price was 20% of the wholesale acquisition cost in the United States. Probabilistic sensitivity analysis estimated gene therapy to be cost-effective at 92% of simulations considering a $150 000/quality-adjusted life-year threshold. In conclusion, based on detailed simulation inputs and assumptions, gene therapy was more cost-effective than on-demand treatment and prophylaxis for patients with severe hemophilia B.

Autophagy is a fundamental recycling pathway that enhances cellular resilience, promoting survival. However, this survival mechanism can impede anti-cancer treatment strategies designed to induce cell death. In this study, we identified a novel autophagy inhibitor, Fangchinoline (Fan) isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Stephania tetrandra. We speculated that when Fan blocks autophagy, cancer cells lose substantial self-preservation abilities during treatment. Firstly, we examined in detail the mechanism through which Fan inhibits autophagy. Specifically, Fan induced a significant increase in autophagosomes, as indicated by GFP-LC3 labeling, confirmed by the up-regulation of LC3-II. The autophagy receptor protein p62 was also up-regulated, suggesting a potential inhibition of autophagy flux. We further ruled out the possibility of fusion barriers between lysosomes and autophagosomes, as confirmed by their co-localization in double fluorescence staining. However, the lysosomal acid environment might be compromised, as suggested by the diminished fluorescence of acidity-sensitive dyes in the lysosomes and the corresponding decrease in mature forms of lysosomal cathepsin. To test the anti-cancer potential of Fan, we combined it with Cisplatin (Cis) or Paclitaxel (PTX) for lung cancer cell treatment. This combined treatment demonstrated a synergistically enhanced killing effect. These promising anti-tumor results were also replicated in a xenografted tumor model. The significance of this research lies in the identification of Fan as a potent autophagy inhibitor and its potential to enhance the efficacy of existing anti-cancer drugs. By unraveling the mechanisms of Fan's action on autophagy and demonstrating its synergistic effect in combination therapies, our study provides valuable insights for developing novel strategies to overcome autophagy-mediated resistance in cancer treatment.

Childhood central nervous system (CNS) tumors have longer delays in diagnosis than do other pediatric malignancies because health care providers (HCPs) lack awareness about clinical presentation of these tumors. To evaluate the knowledge gap among HCPs, we conducted a global cross-sectional survey. The survey consisted of a set of CNS tumor knowledge questions focused on symptoms, signs, and imaging indications. The survey was disseminated to HCPs via email (November 2018-March 2020). Participants had to complete a pre-test survey, attend an education seminar on CNS tumors, and complete a post-test survey. The knowledge gap was evaluated using pre-test and post-test scores. We received 889 pre-test and 392 post-test responses. Most respondents were from Asia (73.1% of pre-test responses; 87.5% of post-test responses). The median pre-test score was 40.0% (range: 13.1-92.9%). A high percentage of correct answers were given in post-test responses (median score: 77.1%, range: 14.9-98.2%). In the pre-test, 18.7% of participants accurately responded that Cushing's triad was a less common symptom, and 15.0% recognized that children aged > 10 years are at risk of late diagnosis. Surprisingly, 21.9% falsely reported that patients with malignancy experienced the longest pre-diagnostic symptom interval, and 54.5% of respondents wrongly selected medulloblastoma as the most common CNS tumor. Overall, pediatricians demonstrated a greater knowledge gap on both surveys than did other specialties.  Conclusion: Pre- and post-test surveys revealed significant knowledge gaps in childhood CNS tumors among HCPs. Thus, raising professional awareness on clinical presentations of CNS tumors through educational strategies is important to address this knowledge deficit. What is Known: • Diagnostic delay in childhood central nervous system (CNS) tumors continues to be a significant problem that negatively impacts the quality of life and treatment sequelae. • Lack of medical education on CNS tumors is a contributing factor to this problem. What is New: • Most health care providers do not realize that low-grade tumors are the most common neoplasm in children. • Health care providers fail to recognize that teenagers and adolescents are a vulnerable age group for diagnostic delays, with the longest pre-diagnostic symptom interval.

Objective: Based on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) with electroencephalography technology, this study analyzed the rehabilitation mechanism of patients' motor function reconstruction and nerve remodeling after stroke. It revealed the function of the cerebral cortex network at a deeper level and established a set of prognostic marker evaluation indicators for the reconstruction of motor function after stroke. Methods: Twenty-one patients treated at the Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital of Capital Medical University because of ischemic stroke in the territory supplied by the middle cerebral artery were selected as the experimental group. Neurophysiological evaluation, motor function evaluation, and clinical evaluation were performed 30 and 180 d after the onset of ischemic stroke. In the control group, neurophysiological evaluation was also performed as a reference index to evaluate the changes in cortical patterns after stroke. Results: The brain topographic map showed the changes in energy or power spectral density (PSD) at 1,000 ms after stimulation as compared with before stimulation, but no difference was detected in these patients. The time-frequency analysis showed that when the left primary motor cortex (M1) area was stimulated using TMS, the PSD values of the left and right M1 and posterior occipital cortex areas produced an 8-40 Hz wave band in patients S1-S11. There was no significant energy change in patients S12-S16. Conclusions: For patients with different injury types, degrees of injury, and different onset periods, individualized intervention methods should be adopted. The evaluation methods should be as diverse as possible, and the rehabilitation effects of patients should be assessed from multiple perspectives to avoid the limitations of single factors. Possible mechanism: After brain injury, the nervous system can change its structure and function through different ways and maintain it for a certain period of time. This plasticity change will change with the course of the disease.

We report a case of hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation in a renal transplant recipient. Reactivation manifested as an occult infection with detectable HBV-DNA and negativity for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). The anti-HBs antibody titre was above the protective threshold and continued to rise, to 951.36 mIU/ml, after HBV reactivation. Sequencing revealed multiple vaccine- and diagnostic-escape mutations in the major hydrophilic region of HBsAg. This case demonstrates both reactivation of an HBV escape mutant in a vaccinated patient and host immunity after virus mutation.

MOFs@MOFs (metal-organic frameworks, MOFs) possess precise customized functionalities and predesigned structures that enable the implementation of structure and property regulation for specific functions in comparison to traditional single MOFs. However, the synthesis and fluorescence properties of multilayer MOFs@MOFs are still worth improving. Herein, a fluorescent raspberry-shaped MOF@MOF was constructed via optimized seed-mediated synthesis by tuning the reaction time, reaction mode, and reaction concentration, involving the initial synthesis of the UiO-66-NH2 core and then the coating of the UiO-67-bpy shell. The raspberry-shaped UiO-66@67-bpy showed stable fluorescence and desirable sensing selectivity for the Hg2+ ion under the interference of other ions; meanwhile, the raspberry-shaped UiO-66@67-bpy indicated amplified sensing performance than pure UiO-66-NH2, mechanically mixed UiO-66-NH2 + UiO-67-bpy, and UiO-66@UiO-67 counterpart due to the accumulation effect of outer UiO-67-bpy toward Hg2+. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations including adsorption energy calculations and electronic density difference analysis further showed that the enhanced fluorescence quenching was possibly attributed to the outer UiO-67-bpy enrichment promoting the charge transfer between Hg2+ and the ligands of fluorescent UiO-66@67-bpy. The synergistic effect of MOFs@MOFs unlocks more possibilities for the construction of enhanced sensors and other applications.

Aim: To evaluate the prognostic value of autophagy proteins in colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: Six potential autophagy proteins were analyzed (Beclin-1, LC3A, LC3B, ULK1, ATG10 and p62). Hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% CIs for overall survival (OS) of CRC patients were calculated. Results: A total of 20 studies were included. High expression of LC3B and p62 was associated with favorable OS (HR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.40-0.80; HR: 0.76, 95% CI: 0.61-0.96), whereas high expression of Beclin-1 (HR: 1.47, 95% CI: 1.05-2.06) and ULK1 (HR: 1.92. 95% CI: 1.05-3.53) might predict worse OS in CRC patients. Conclusion: Beclin-1, LC3B and p62 might act as promising prognostic biomarkers for CRC. High LC3 and p62 expression can be reliable tools for metastasis prediction.

Soybean is frequently attacked by herbivorous pests throughout the growth period. Exploring anti-insect genes to improve insect resistance in soybean is an important soybean breeding goal. Here, we cloned and characterized the gene for a quantitative trait locus (QTL) related to insect resistance, Glyma.06g189600, which encodes CALCIUM-DEPENDENT PROTEIN KINASE17 (GmCDPK17) in soybean. The pairwise sequence alignment analysis revealed that the presumed protein of GmCDPK17 shares 52.06% similarity with that of GmCDPK38, a known negative regulatory gene of insect resistance in soybean. Ectopic expression of GmCDPK17 and GmCDPK38 restored the phenotypes of the Arabidopsis insect-susceptible mutant cpk10 and insect-resistant mutant cpk28, respectively. Moreover, transgenic hairy roots of the soybean cultivar Jack were generated by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Overexpression of GmCDPK17 increased soybean hairy root resistance to common cutworm (CCW), while RNA interference of the gene decreased soybean hairy root resistance to CCW. Sequencing data from the cultivated and wild soybeans were used to analyze the genetic diversity of GmCDPK17. This gene was subjected to domestication selection. Six and seven haplotypes (Haps) were identified in cultivated and wild soybeans, respectively. The resistance Hap1 is not widely used in cultivated soybeans and is mainly distributed at low latitudes. Accessions with resistance haplotypes of the GmCDPK17 and GmCDPK38 genes showed high resistance to CCW. Altogether, we revealed a novel positive regulatory insect resistance gene, GmCDPK17, which may further improve insect resistance in soybean.

With economic globalization, there has been a rapid increase in the number of sojourners in the workforce and in international education. However, little is known about the impact of career adaptability (a key psychosocial resource for managing career transitions) on international students' adaptation in cross-cultural contexts, particularly their quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on career construct theory, this study examined how career adaptability directly and indirectly enhances international students' quality of life through perceived online and offline social support, and how the COVID-19 pandemic affected their adaptation in cross-cultural context. With a sample of 328 African international students in China, we found that career adaptability and perceived online/ offline social support were positively related to the quality of life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, perceived offline social support, but not perceived online social support, was an adapting response through which career adaptability enhances international students' quality of life in cross-cultural context. The mediating effect of perceived offline social support diminished when the self-rated COVID-19 impact on international students was severe. These findings provide a basis for future psychosocial interventions to enhance international students' adaptation to cross-cultural contexts during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

We evaluated interferon-γ (IFN-γ) secretion by HCMV NLV-specific CD8+ T cells in HCMV-reactivated allo-HSCT recipients using an enzyme-linked immunospot (ELISPOT) assay at 3 months post-transplantation. Blood samples from 47 recipients were tested for HCMV DNAemia, HCMV pp65 antigenemia, and anti-HCMV immunoglobulins (IgG/IgM) over 3 months post-transplantation. Of the 47 transplant recipients, 26 were HLA-A*02 positive and 21 were HLA-A*02 negative. The results were essentially consistent between the 47 transplant recipients and the HLA-A*02-positive recipients. HCMV DNAemia was not linearly correlated with IFN-γ spot-forming cells (SFCs) counts; IFN-γ SFCs counts did not differ significantly between the HCMV DNAemia-positive and -negative groups, whereas the HCMV-DNA virus loads were inversely correlated with the IFN-γ SFCs counts. HCMV pp65 antigenemia was not linearly correlated with IFN-γ SFCs counts; IFN-γ SFCs counts in the HCMV pp65 antigenemia-positive and -negative groups were similar. More IFN-γ SFCs counts were detected in transplant recipients with high anti-HCMV-IgG antibody titers than in those with low anti-HCMV-IgG titers pre-transplantation in the 47 recipients. Anti-HCMV-IgG antibody titers were positively linearly correlated with IFN-γ SFCs counts in HLA-A*02-positive recipients. The HCMV infection indicators used to monitor HCMV reactivation had different values in transplant recipients. The use of the IFN-γ SFCs counts measured by ELISPOT to evaluate the risk of HCMV reactivation needs further study.

Depression and suicidal behaviors are two common psychiatric problems observed among people living with HIV. The situation is worse among HIV-infected inmates. The present study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of depression and suicidal behaviors among HIV-infected inmates, and to clarify the mechanisms underlying the impact of HIV-related stigma on suicidal behaviors. The data from 402 HIV-infected inmates in Lesotho showed the prevalence of depression and suicidal behaviors was 53.0% and 8.2%. Female and institution maladaptation were risk factors for depression, and the risk factor for suicidal behaviors was non-participation of institution activities. Moreover, HIV-related stigma indirectly increased inmates' suicidal behaviors through elevated depression. Such indirect effect was stronger for inmates with a lower level of meaning in life. These findings indicate more concern should be given to high-risk subgroups, and both depression and meaning in life are intervention targets for suicide prevention among HIV-infected inmates.


RESUMEN: La depresión y las conductas suicidas son dos problemas psiquiátricos comunes que se observan entre las personas que viven con el VIH. La situación es peor entre los reclusos infectados por el VIH. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la prevalencia y los factores asociados de la depresión y las conductas suicidas entre los reclusos infectados por el VIH, y aclarar los mecanismos subyacentes al impacto del estigma relacionado con el VIH en las conductas suicidas. Los datos de 402 reclusos infectados por el VIH en Lesotho mostraron que la prevalencia de depresión y conductas suicidas fue del 53.0% y el 8.2%. La mala adaptación de la mujer y la institución fueron factores de riesgo de depresión y el factor de riesgo de conductas suicidas fue la no participación en las actividades de la institución. Además, el estigma relacionado con el VIH aumentó indirectamente las conductas suicidas de los reclusos a través de una depresión elevada. Este efecto indirecto fue más fuerte para los reclusos con un nivel más bajo de significado en la vida. Estos hallazgos indican que se debe prestar más atención a los subgrupos de alto riesgo, y tanto la depresión como el significado de la vida son objetivos de intervención para la prevención del suicidio de los reclusos infectados por el VIH.

Stochastic resonance (SR), a typical randomness-assisted signal processing method, has been extensively studied in bearing fault diagnosis to enhance the feature of periodic signal. In this study, we cast off the basic constraint of nonlinearity, extend it to a new type of generalized SR (GSR) in linear Langevin system, and propose the fluctuating-mass induced linear oscillator (FMLO). Then, by generalized scale transformation (GST), it is improved to be more suitable for exacting high-frequency fault features. Moreover, by analyzing the system stationary response, we find that the synergy of the linear system, internal random regulation and external excitement can conduct a rich variety of non-monotonic behaviors, such as bona-fide SR, conventional SR, GSR, and stochastic inhibition (SI). Based on the numerical implementation, it is found that these behaviors play an important role in adaptively optimizing system parameters to maximally improve the performance and identification ability of weak high-frequency signal in strong background noise. Finally, the experimental data are further performed to verify the effectiveness and superiority in comparison with traditional dynamical methods. The results show that the proposed GST-FMLO system performs the best in the bearing fault diagnoses of inner race, outer race and rolling element. Particularly, by amplifying the characteristic harmonics, the low harmonics become extremely weak compared to the characteristic. Additionally, the efficiency is increased by more than 5 times, which is significantly better than the nonlinear dynamical methods, and has the great potential for online fault diagnosis.

Endothelial dysfunction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of acute lung injury (ALI). Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) has been reported to attenuate harmful changes in ALI rats. However, the effects of TMP on endothelial cell injury and its underlying mechanisms remain unknown. In this study, human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used as an inflammatory injury model, also served as LPS group. HUVECs pretreated with TMP for 2 h before induced by LPS was served as LPS + TMP group. Untreated HUVECs was served as control group. After incubation with LPS for 12 h, cell viability and morphology, cell apoptosis rate, CD31-positive endothelial microparticles (EMPs) release, proinflammatory cytokines secretion, and ROCK II expression were evaluated. Compared with LPS group, TMP pretreatment improved cell viability and morphology. Besides, cell apoptosis rate, CD31-positive EMPs amount, TNF-α and IL-1ß concentrates, and ROCK II mRNA and protein levels in LPS + TMP group were significantly decreased when compared with LPS group. To further confirm the mechanism, HUVECs in all the above groups were pretreated with Y27632 (ROCK II inhibitor) for 30 min before grouping, then treated as above. No significant differences in cell apoptosis rate, CD31-positive EMPs amount, and ROCK II expression between Y27632 + LPS group and Y27632 + LPS + TMP group were found. To sum up, our study found that TMP alleviated LPS-induced inflammatory injury in HUVECs by inhibiting Rho/ROCK pathway.

To better utilize carbon dots (CDs) as efficient photocatalysts, an excellent strategy of constructing CDs@MoS2 heterostructure is presented. Here a facile sonication-hydrothermal method is utilized to synthesize CDs@MoS2. Such heterostructure regulates the energy level configuration, and visible light absorption and the separation and transfer of photogenerated charges are enhanced remarkably, which is propitious for the production of more photoinduced charges and improvement of the heterogeneous photocatalytic activity. Meanwhile, the photocatalytic performance of CDs@MoS2 was obviously improved in methylene blue degradation. On the basis of a series of contrast experiments, the possible mechanism of the photocatalytic reaction is proposed. Therefore, this work offers a facile route for the design of a zero-dimensional/two-dimensional heterojunction for the adjustment of the energy level structure and the improvement in photocatalytic performance.

A photocatalytic reaction is always governed by energy band configuration of the catalyst, but its modulation is challenging. Here, the adjustment of band-edge positions of Ag3 PO4 through fluorescent carbon dots is reported for the first time. Both Ag3 PO4 and carbon dots which keep the similar sizes constitute a heterojunction. Such heterostructure not only promotes visible light absorption, photogenerated charge separation, and transfer, but it also transforms photocatalytic activity of Ag3 PO4 from photooxidation to photoreduction due to the huge changes of band-edge positions. In addition, the heterojunction structure of carbon dots and Ag3 PO4 exhibits unique temperature-responsive photocatalytic activities and higher photocatalytic stability than the pure Ag3 PO4 . According to the contrast experiments and related characterizations, the possible mechanism of photocatalytic reaction is proposed. Therefore, this work offers an alternative route for adjusting energy band positions or tuning photocatalytic performance as well as for preparing novel carbon-dot-based heterostructure.
