RESUMEN

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) have become a research hotspot due to their high intensity and subwavelength localization. Through free-electron excitation, a portion of the momentum of moving electrons can be converted into SPPs. Converting highly localized SPPs into a radiated field is an approach with the potential to aid in the development of a light radiation source. Reducing losses of SPPs is currently a critical challenge that needs to be addressed. The lifetime of SPPs in metal films is longer than that in metal blocks. Traditional optical gratings can transform SPPs into radiation to avoid the decay of SPPs in metal; however, they are created by etching metal films, so they tend to alter the dispersion characteristics of these films and will emit radiation in the direction perpendicular to the metal surface. This paper proposes an approach to converting the SPPs of a metal film excited by free electrons into a radiation field via lateral grating and obtaining in-plane radiation. We investigate the properties of SPP lateral radiation. The study of lateral radiation from metal films holds significant importance for SPP radiation sources and SPP on-chip circuit development.

Currently, renal arteriovenous thrombosis induced by Covid-19 infection in patients after renal transplantation is very rare. We present a recent kidney transplant recipient who developed Covid-19 infection and later developed intrarenal small artery thrombosis. Finally, the patient's respiratory tract infection symptoms gradually disappeared after treatment. However, hemodialysis replacement therapy has to be continued due to the injury of the transplanted kidney function. In this case, we first reported that Covid-19 infection may induce intrarenal small artery thrombosis after kidney transplantation, which caused local ischemic necrosis of the transplanted kidney. We found that patients are at a high risk of Covid-19 infection at the early stage after kidney transplantation, and their clinical symptoms may be severe. In addition, even with anticoagulant therapy, Covid-19 infection may still increase the risk of thrombosis to some extent for patients who have undergone kidney transplantation, and we need to be alert to this rare complication in the future clinical work.

RESUMEN

The Quartet Data Portal facilitates community access to well-characterized reference materials, reference datasets, and related resources established based on a family of four individuals with identical twins from the Quartet Project. Users can request DNA, RNA, protein, and metabolite reference materials, as well as datasets generated across omics, platforms, labs, protocols, and batches. Reproducible analysis tools allow for objective performance assessment of user-submitted data, while interactive visualization tools support rapid exploration of reference datasets. A closed-loop "distribution-collection-evaluation-integration" workflow enables updates and integration of community-contributed multiomics data. Ultimately, this portal helps promote the advancement of reference datasets and multiomics quality control.

RESUMEN

A newly proposed three-dimensional model for the effects of heavy metals on the growth of batch cultures of algae that allows the estimation of the no detected toxic effect concentration (NDEC) is presented. Two batch assays with exposure to copper were investigated in situ. As an endpoint in the in situ studies of ecotoxicology, the carrying capacity, a parameter of the logistic growth model, possesses higher sensitivity and reliability than the routine ecotoxicological endpoints in terms of the analysis based on the theoretical arguments and experimental results. Using the carrying capacity (B(f)) as the ecotoxicological endpoint, the NDEC from the proposed model is compared to the NOEC and EC(05) on the basis of field derived data. The results indicate that the NDEC is a promising possible alternative parameter to the NOEC.
